I found the spot on Yelp and we headed over right after a trip to the DMV. We definitely deserved a treat after that. We ordered two sandwiches to split, the shredded beef and the original Cuban. They offer several variations of Cubans..., including one with mortadella that I am already planning to try next time. I will admit, in the review photos the sandwiches might not look pressed or buttered enough. Trust the process. The bread was perfection. I am very particular about grilled sandwiches being truly grilled and fully heated through, and these ladies know exactly what they are doing. The original Cuban was perfectly balanced and a rock solid classic. The shredded beef was - (Meat prep courtesy of Sarah) a delightful surprise, slightly sweet and savory and incredibly flavorful and texture. Just really, really good. We also got a bag of plantain chips, and I respect that those are the only chips they offer. No generic bagged Lays here. Plantain chips or nothin' - I like it!!! There is also a display case full of beautiful baked treats made by Rita. After sandwiches at that level, there was no way we were leaving without dessert. Made a special trip to check out the handmade Cuban pastries. It took a little searching--Google Maps sent us on a bit of a scavenger hunt--but we eventually found it. The ambiance is wonderful: cozy, quaint, and full of charm. The pastries themselves were just okay. They had a slightly stale taste, almost as if they'd been sitting out for a while. This place is more like a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I was craving some cuban bakery items and this place definitely hits the spot. we ended up getting guava cheese rolls, ham croquettes, potato balls, capuchinos and a meat pie along with two cubano espressos. everything was amazing. I was really surprised at the size of the potato ball. and the capuchinos were very tasty. The people working there are sisters and they are very friendly. The interior feels nostalgic, and i love the fact that they added pictures of their grandparents and parents onto the box and all over the wall. I love the different items displaced inside, it feels like Cuba while still being in DFW. The interior has limited seating, and they have a few more tables and seats outside. This place is a gem. After being introduced to Cuban coffee and pastries in Miami we searched this place out and are so very happy about it. Excellent Cuban coffee, and their guava and cheese pastries are amazing. Hubby had a Cuban sandwich last time we visited and said it was excellent. They also sell small sandwich size rolls that are to die for. Crispy crunchy on the outside and soft like marshmallow in the middle. Unfortunately this trip their ac was out so they weren't baking any bread and I can't blame them. It's hot out here, 103 at 11 am! There is also a cute little patio on the front that I'm sure is awesome in fall/winter/spring in Texas, that translates to maybe October to March! Ha! Left a painted rock in the flower pot out front! The Ladies who own/run this establishment are authentic Cuban and you can really taste it in everything they do. It is a really busy place. We were lucky to get a table inside. There are only 4 tables inside and a couple of tables outside. I was immediately taken aback and turned off when I went to use my own pen when signing the credit card receipt and the cashier said "the pandemic is over, Covid isn't a real thing anyway". Really??? I didn't even say anything to her, just used my own pen. I ordered a hot tea and my friend and I shared a chocolate pastry. The pastry was made well, but wasn't very sweet nor had much chocolate taste. I had to request a second tea bag as the first one had split and there was loose tea floating in my drink. I pointed it out to the cashier and she didn't offer me a new drink, I had to ask for another one. The second tea bag was also broken, but I inspected it before putting in the hot water so I held it where the loose tea wouldn't escape. The tea bags were clearly faulty. The shop is small and extremely overcrowded with tables and chairs. It was difficult to maneuver between the tables to get to one to sit at and I had to move another table over just to sit down. The workers were not too friendly. Sadly, I don't plan to visit again. I had great hopes for this place. But I didn't feel welcome there at all. read more

Both offered a generous amount of meat and we love they make their own bread here. Tried Ironbeer - a cuban soft drink fun to try - very sweet and high calorie - a splurge. Also, know the plantain chips are bag chips not fresh made. The midnight came on special sweet bread they make, just flavorful not too sweet. Ybar had the mortadella on it which is unusual to find in DFW sandwich shops. Very pleasant atmosphere but realize small amount of tables inside - more outside if weather permits to sit and enjoy. Two sisters have been running the shop from their parents, very pleasant and helpful - kind to bring you a small sample if you ask or have to wait to receive your order. We just popped in for their holiday samples and ended up sitting down for a Cuban, Ropa Vieja, and café cubanos. To the reviewer that gave one star and complained that products are not originated from this bakery, you are so sadly mistaken, and I don't understand what your reference is from. This tiny bakery has been in existence for decades, and the women that run it took the business over from their father, a well known and respected baker from Cuba. If you have a favorite item, then I recommend being there when they open their doors. Everything is made in-house, and very few bakeries in the metroplex offer or make traditional Cuban loaves, their bread is usually gone by 1pm - especially on Saturday. I adore the package of mini-loaves, and after all these years, I know that if I'm going to the bakery specifically for them, I better damn well be there before noon! Lesson: The later you wait in the day, the more likelihood your fav bread, pastry, or dessert will be gone. Why? BECAUSE THEY'RE BAKED IN-HOUSE IN SMALL BATCHES! What a cute little cafe and bakery this is. We stumbled upon it looking for cupcakes and the pastries were lovely. We had the guava pastry, caramel merengue, white cupcake and a dulce de leche cold pastry. My favorite was the guava pastry. We will definitely return for the coffee someday. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now because my fiance is a sucker for the guava pastries, we usually order a few of those, some with cream cheese, a couple savory pastries, and a cream horn. Everything is always perfect, the pastry is flaky and buttery with the perfect amount of filling. The service is always fantastic, even on busy days and, listen, if you do find yourself waiting in line - consider yourself lucky because you get a few extra minutes to appreciate the ambience. The Cuban was probably the closet to being authentic that I've had since I was in Key Wear, Fl. The guava cheese pastry was really good, but it was cold and flakey, in a sitting on display too long type of way. The potato ball also just tasted like potluck food that's leftover. My husband tried the meat pastry, he said it was ok but the guava was best. They don't really have anything to have with the sandwich, no chips, French fries, fried yuca, nothing to really make it a meal. After I had my sandwich I was still a little hungry. The packaging was super cute and the sandwich was still hot upon arrival. The pastries were really yummy (guava cheese, guava, & strawberry). A number of people say it's comparable to Porto's, which I just so happened to be lucky enough to try a few weeks after my experience here, and I can't say I agree. We tried a number of things: cubano, potato ball, ham croquette, meat pastry, cheese pastry, guava & cheese pastry. I eat pretty salty and even I thought the meat was overly salty. My favorite thing was the potato ball, and that's probably because it's huge and the ratio of potato to meat filling is a little off, which in this case helped balance the saltiness. Even the cheese pastry leaned salty! Cubano and the guava & cheese pastry were pretty good. This is the kind of place where if I were in the area, I'd consider stopping by to pick up one or two things I know are good, but probably wouldn't pay another visit otherwise. read more

I tasted a few items there and would recommend the following (in order): 1) Cafe con leche: Perfect mix of bold coffee, a dollop of milk, and sweetness. 2) Guava and cheese pastry: Honestly, guava and cheese should be the new peanut butter and jelly. Get this. 3) Papas Rellenas: Aka the stuffed potato ball filled with ground beef, tomato paste, and olives. The potato will fill you up. I especially enjoy anything with tomato paste and olives, so check this underrated treat out. 4) Cuban sandwich: Good ratio of bread, meat, pickles, and mustard. I really miss Porto's in California, but might have the next best thing here. This Cuban bakery has some great pastries and coffee that is seemingly in a pretty random location, but glad it's nearby for baked goods. You'll definitely want to grab a guava pastry - flaky puff pastry like crust, slightly sweet guava jam with just a little sweet cream cheese to compliment it is like the perfect turnover. If you want something a bit heartier, I recommend the fried potato ball, which basically is a spherical shepherd's pie, deep fried. It's heavy and hefty, but makes for great picnic food. I have to say though service can be a bit slow. The owners are certainly friendly enough but waiting 30 minutes with just one person ahead of you in line feels bad (and their order wasn't THAT big). read more
