While visiting from out of town and being pizza connoisseur and pizza restaurant owners we are always looking to try other pizza joints pizza, 1 of our friends didn't really care much for the pizza and said they prefer Pizza Hut at that point I knew we are on something because when people like Pizza Hut, they really don't know how to judge a real Italian pizza, we first ordered a dinner salad with delicious homemade garlic knots, knots we were delicious and salad was crisp. we then ordered a thin crust pizza was tasty with a hint of basil and Italian seasoning,the cheese is quality not greasy, crispy pizza crust We ordered some hamburger and mushrooms on our cheese pizza. He learned from his father at a restaurant in Herrin, Alfonzo's. Franks father brought the recipe from Italy. Very cool. My wife and I take the trek to Nashville every so often and we always pick up two of their biggest pizzas. Usually Drew makes the pizza following the recipe to the "T". Notice in the picture provided they out the cheese all the way to the sides of the pizza. A lot of pizza places only put cheese in the center. We were meeting some family in Nashville, IL and decided to try this place. Someone my husband works with said it was good. We were not disappointed! He ordered a pizza and I got the chicken fettuccine Alfredo. My meal came with garlic knots and a salad. The service was impeccable. I mean that. We were seated and waited on promptly. Our food was out quickly. Our drinks were always kept filled. Service was just great! The food was also perfect! I was so stuffed but didn't want to stop eating because it tasted so good!!! The "Pizza Buffet" was anything but! We arrived a 12:00 noon, and there were two partial pizza's on the "All you can eat buffett". We were in a party of 4, all eating buffett, as well as another party also eating buffett. The selection quickly dwindled to 1 choice. That choice was a thick crust pizza, which I don't think anyone in our party was fond of. We waited and gave the kitchen time to restock the options...and it never happened. Watched as a large party came in and ordered off the menu, and had food come out of the kitchen for them..... The staff walked right past the empty buffett. The owner was standing next to the empty buffett talking to a local customer that had placed order out.... no action on the buffett. I'm local. Know this establishment well. The pizza is good.... The BUFFETT is not. All told we were in this establishment from 12:00 to 12:40. In this time....the Buffett went empty, and NOTHING was added to replenish it during this time. I grew up with Giralomo's, but left Nashville to go to college in Chicago when I was 17. After college, I moved to San Francisco and became a big time foodie. My appreciation for Giralomo's pizza grew and grew over the years as I was exposed to different types of cuisine. Frank's pizza is the absolute best I have ever found in all of my travels. It is totally unique, made with quality ingredients and the crust is unmatched anywhere. I have no idea how he makes tha crust so beautifully crackery and crisp, and the sauce has a zingy savory sweetness that is unmatched. The restaurant has gone through some major changes in the last couple of years, mainly with the decor, which is all hand painted and decorated to give a much nicer ambiance. They also now sell beer and wine, which is a great addition to their menu. It isn't all about the pizza, as there is a full menu of standard Italian fare, as well as some fish and steaks to appeal to the midwestern taste. I can't say enough about this place, and every time I come to visit my parents in this sweet little town, I have to eat there at least twice, if not more, during my usual week long visit. Don't deny yourself a culinary treat, and try this place out. It is worth the trip to Nashville if you are coming from out of town. No matter what else you want to order, you must try the pizza, and the toasted ravioli is another standard on my list. My husband, who grew up in the San Jose, California, a place where he could eat any kind of food from any place in the world agrees that this is the most unique and tasty treat, and compares to the pizza that he has had in Italy. This is by far worth the little detour off the interstate. Food is outstanding and our waitress was so friendly. We were told that the owners makes sauces and dishes from scratch and you could tell! My wife and I have ordered pizza and pasta from them several times and we've always been impressed. My wife loves the deep dish/thick crust and I enjoy the original/thin crust. She loves bread and simply adores the garlic knots (I think they're just OK) and the pasta is good. I was confused that my chicken Marsala came in a gravy/red wine sauce and it had pasta with red sauce on the side. Didn't really go well together, but they were fine by themselves! Definitely a favorite of ours in Nashville! Also, delivery is real quick for a pizza place! read more

Buffet's a real crapshoot. Heard good things about GP and had been seeing signs up and down the highway my last couple of visits thru town. I called a couple of hours in advance on this day to confirm buffet hours and was told it closed at 2pm. I strolled in about 1:40pm and hostess stated it was already shut down? Sad part was as nice & as apologetic as she was, her manager was standing not 6 feet from her, looked me straight in the eye and did nothing to intercede with this disappointed customer. Sad really. Found this restaurant after exiting I-64. Beautiful murals and clean facility. Fabulous hand tossed crust pizza with an abundance of sliced peppers, mushrooms and onions and generous portions of ham, Italian sausage, and pepperoni. Hidden Gem. We like to try random restaurants whenever we're in a different area, so we took a chance on this pizzeria. We were slightly worried as there was only one other family in the place. (It was only lunch on a Saturday after all) Both my boys are Celiac, so had to have gluten free. (Which is hard to find good places to go) We had: Gluten Free Penne Pasta and Shrimp, Gluten Free 10" Chicken Alfredo Pizza, I had real fetticini alfredo (no GF for me), and we had an order of bread and mozarella sticks. All the food was awesome. My boys raved about the gluten free and service was friendly, timely, and always checked on us. I ordered the freshly backed rolls (they make them up every morning apparently) to take home and eat with another meal...yummmm. I ate here this past Friday and I was very disappointed! The pizza had absolutely no taste, I ordered mushrooms on my pizza and they were not fresh they either came out of a jar or can. The only thing that was good was they garlicy buns or rolls they brought me. It was way over priced and the service was not good at all. I will not be recommending this place to anybody read more

We just experienced Girolamo's Pizzeria! Our family met (8 of us) there from Murphysboro & Granite City, Il for February Birthdays. The food was great & the staff went above & beyond in serving us. The pizza was excellent & by the way, one 17" pizza for the eight of us would have been more than enough. We ordered the Meat Lovers & their Specialty (3 of them) and had to take two of them home. The salad bar was excellent with big shredded pieces of provolone cheese. We called in advance to find out if we could bring cake & ice cream & they said "Yes". We really enjoyed our evening there.
