Purpose of visit was to get a engagement ring resized from 7 to 4 1/4 and from the tone of the employee there he stated it would be impossible and would damage the ring and this and that, and ended up quoting us for almost $300 for a new ring to add the diamond to it. To be honest it sounded absurd and I felt as if they were trying to make the most money out of us. We just wanted a simple thing like resizing a ring. Also, employee was supposed to send us a message to gather more information and never did. I would definitely not go back to this place. I went in to have my wedding ring repaired. It wasn't a big deal, just needed some soldering. What I got back was a repaired ring that had been buffed and shined to beyond new condition. Awfully run business. I submitted an inquiry through the intake form on their website detailing that I was looking to get a clasp on a chain fixed. Auto message says somebody will get back to me. I don't hear anything for 3-4 days. I call in and ask to follow up on the inquiry. The person on the phone seemed vaguely familiar with the inquiry submission I was referencing and said it would be no problem just bring it in. I look up the store hours on the website which note 10-3pm Tue-Friday. I drive downtown, park, and get up the skyway where the store is located and arrive at 2:15 pm on Wednesday, Jan 11th - only to find that the store is completely closed down with doors locked and lights out. I call the phone numbers listed on the website and simply receive an automated voice messaging system. Very disappointed and a big waste of my time. read more

They made a special appointment for me to bring my ring in the following Monday, and we're quick with the turn-around. They were very communicative and helpful throughout the process. I got my 14-year-old ring back today in pristine condition, with prongs and loosened points tightened and fixed, and with extra coating for shine and protection. I dropped off my ring to their Minneapolis skyway location, and the man who helped me was very friendly and professional. I needed to get my ring finger correctly sized and he was patient, not dismissive, and answered all my questions about the process. Things took a few days longer than I had initially been estimated, but that's why it's an estimate-- things change. :) Customer service on the phone was wonderful as well. When I got my ring back, it fit perfectly, looked wonderful, and they had even tightened up a looseness in the prongs that I hadn't thought to mention. WOW, absolutely WOW. From the second I stepped foot into the store, Gene and Molly made me feel right at home, and this is something that is lost in today's fast paced world. Initially I was taken back by how gorgeous everything looked in their storefront, then I find out that all of their pieces are custom made and gave them my first WOW. What originally brought me in were the glowing reviews from satisfied customers that I read everywhere I searched online. I immediately reached out through email and Michael responded within minutes to find out more about my needs. Customer service is top notch. They literally want nothing more than for you to leave absolutely happy. It's not fake pandering either. The watch battery took 2 days, which was annoying, but they claim they do a more thorough process, offered to let me borrow a watch while mine was out and I simply felt like my property was in really good hands. Recently I went along with a very close friend to this store. She had a piece of jade that she wanted to set in a specific setting. When her ring was ready , I was so blown away by the workmanship and the continued friendliness of the father and son , that I decided to ask about soldering my wedding rings together. Not only did they solder them, but polished and repaired the tips around the diamond because they noticed they were loose. After reading Yelp reviews of Gittelson's and several competitors, I walked in cold with a lady's diamond engagement ring -- one I bought elsewhere -- in need of resizing. Gene, Mike, and Molly greeted me like an old friend and gave me a 10-day turnaround estimate (due to a vacation shutdown) and some very helpful advice on how MUCH to resize it (the future wearer being in another time zone). The NEXT DAY Molly called -- the ring was ready. Gene had resized it, cleaned it, improved the color, provided a new display box, and given me an informal appraisal -- all for less than half what his competitors would have charged just for the resizing and a fifth of what I feared it would cost.
