We got paired up with Jos and he was awesome, very funny guy, gave us some great coffee recommendations for our neighborhood even since we're relatively new to the area. I had a loose stone in my wedding ring and happened to walk into R.F. Moeller to see if they could do a repair. I didn't have an appointment but walked in and was greeted by Mary. She was awesome. She examined my ring and showed me wear and tear issues under a microscope. I got a quote and picked up my sparkling new ring two weeks later. In addition, my other two rings were cleaned and polish. We brought a family heirloom ring in for repair which needed work but was nonetheless an elegant, timeless piece (18k gold, four diamonds). The sales associate Mary Dahlstrom took our ring and scoffed at it, saying "yikes" and making disgusted facial expressions while holding it. She quoted our repair price at $1500, whereas two other local jewelers quoted our repair at $600. Mary also initially miscalculated the repair price, which would have added an extra $100 onto the total. Overall we felt condescended to and it made an exciting time- the restoration of an engagement ring that my partner and I will be starting our love story with soon- feel uncomfortable and awkward. We wonder if this was due to our age because we did not feel taken seriously as twentysomethings. We suggest seeking a second opinion from another store, as R F Moeller grossly up charged the repair. We ultimately chose Jewelry Works in Minnetonka instead, who offered to do all of the same maintenance on the ring for less than half the cost. read more

I don't usually review anything but had to today. Michelle at the Edina store had sold my husband a diamond band for our anniversary and I needed it sized. I had a ring that was my mother's, who passed a year ago this February 18th. I wanted the ring repaired and sized for my pinky to wear in remembrance of her. When I retired with over thirty years of service, my employer presented me with a gold watch from R.F. Moeller Jewelers in Edina, MN. It was a beautiful watch that came in a burled wood presentation case. Several years after I received it, a mechanical problem developed with the watch. I brought it into the Moeller Jewelry store in Edina to see if it could be repaired. I was called several days later and told what the repair would cost. I declined to have it repaired due to the cost. I met with Patrick Mullins when I came to pick up the watch and told him the history of the watch. He said as a retirement watch, he understands it has a high sentimental value to me. He said he would take care of getting it repaired at no cost to me. I had owned it way past any warranty, but Patrick Mullins and R.F. Moeller took care of it for me. I very much appreciate how they worked with me. I was having a very difficult time trying to attach a new charm to my Nomination bracelet. I went into RF Moeller and spoke to Brennon Fleagle to see if he could help me or give me some guidance on how to add my new charm. He could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Staff may want to learn some "bedside manners." I brought in what was obviously a wedding band and engagement ring (connect the dot). The staff person brought them back to evaluate and only handed me the wedding band telling me they couldn't take it because it has a chip, which is understandable. I then said, is the other one not of value? She hadn't even looked at it. She proceeded to look at it and then returned and said "this is basically scrap." I hate to give local places that have existed for a long time bad reviews, but this place has really gotten on my nerves the last few times I talked with them. Simply put, they don't know Rolex watches. Every time I call them with a question about my watches, they always try to recommend the wrong and most expensive services. For instance, I wanted my brand new Explorer II pressure tested to make sure it was still waterproof, because, whilst new, I had to have it opened up to make sure it was authentic when I got it. So, to make a long story short, RF basically filled me full of a bunch of nonsense. They actually said that I should have the watch sent in to Rolex in Switzerland to have it overhauled. Overhauled!? This operation could easily cost me over a thousand dollars. They attempted to explain that this was the only "real" way to make sure it was still waterproof. Luckily, I sorta of knew what I was doing. I know it is possible to have your Rolex "dry" pressure tested. Many companies do this. Wixon Jewelers in Bloomington, for instance, actually does this. Even after I called them out on this very point, they still were stonewalling me. They stuck to their guns about having the watch sent it for an overhaul, even though I went to Wixon and had it pressure tested for $20. My watch was fine, and RF would have had me send it in to Rolex at who knows how much a cost. Frightening! So, you can imagine that I don't like this place, but it's only the half of it. A couple of years ago, I got a used Rolex GMT 16700. The watch was fine, but the bezel was extremely sticky. I call these clowns up-luckily, I didn't waste my time going there-and, sure enough, they tell me that they might need to send the watch into Rolex for an overhaul even though they supposedly have an in house watchmaker, and they, basically, don't give me any useful information. So, I called Wixon, and they tell me that the bezel might actually loosen up if I expose it to soapy water. Sure enough, I had it freed up and losened from just showering with it on a week. To this day, the watch's bezel is lose and not sticky anymore. Bottom line: avoid this place like Lindsay Lohan avoids rehab. They twice tried convincing me to have my Rolexes overhauled, at a cost of thousands, for no apparent reason whatsoever. I can only imagine how many people actually took their advice. Despite the nonsense that Rolex tries to convince people of, these watches do not need to be constantly overhauled. As a Kevin Zavian pointed out on a recent episode of Antiques Roadshow, a Rolex watch should probably last almost 50 years without a service, assuming it doesn't get beat up. Avoid RF Moeller. They are scammers and not to be trusted with your expensive jewelry. read more

The service though was great and they clean your ring their for free! I have had them do a couple of appraisals on my jewelry for insurance reason and they are very honest , detailed and put a slightly inflated rate on the jewelry (which is good in case you lose it) read more

We took a diamond engagement ring to be re-appraised since it was inherited and last appraisal was from 2000 when my uncle purchased it new from my aunts jewelry store. Not only did the gemologist "low ball" the estimate the specs of the diamond changed across the board and that the diamond shows evidence of fracture filling which isn't possible. This appraisal cost $200 and I'm not happy about this. I took it to my normal jeweler for an appraisal and her review show's no evidence of fracture filling and the specs match what was given 21 years ago when the ring was purchased. I send an email a week ago to Bob and I finally received a follow up to my email that I sent today and I will be connecting with the gemologist who did the appraisal tomorrow. I would NOT recommend using R.F. Moeller and I will not be using them again...too bad I won a $250 gift card at a charity auction, looks like I will be regifting that! read more

I'm so glad a went here. I came here to purchase and engagement ring for my now wife. Based on its location I assumed they would be over priced. That couldn't be further from the truth. I'm sure they would help you spend a small fortune, but they had no problem working within my budget. Their pricing is extremely competitive with what you find at any other jeweler. They do not have the largest selection of rings on display, but they have amazing customer service and helped me design the perfect ring. I lost track of how many times I had them bring in different diamonds and settings for me to look at. Would you rather have someone help you design a ring yourself or pick one out of a case with a thousand others? The choice seems pretty obvious to me. They don't waste your time giving you the same canned speech that you hear everywhere else. I was able to custom design the perfect ring for less than what other places charged for a "similar" stone. read more

I went to Moeller to get an estimate on have my wedding ring put back together after my main diamond popped out and then my husband had to cut it off my finger. It had been on my finger pretty consistanty since we were engaged a little over 30 years ago. I also lost 2 small diamonds over the past few years. The gentleman at Moeller who examined my diamond said there were some cracks in it and said they would not place it back in the ring and would need for shave it down for $700, and with getting it back in place and reconstructed without the 2 small diamonds, it would cost about $2100.00. I left with my ring. Yesterday I went to Jeffery Jeweler, another very reputable jeweler in town, 3rd generation. Jeffery, a very nice gentlemen, noted the crack and had me initial the acknowledgment on my receipt. I said I just wanted my original wedding ring back on my finger, even with it's flaws. He respected that and I fully trust his judgment. I left with it costing me $425 to get my ring put back together including the 2 diamonds that were lost. Recently, l lost a small diamond in my wedding band. I needed to replace the diamond and to do additional maintenance as well as obtain an appraisals for my wedding ring, diamond pendant, and diamond stud earrings. After hearing a horror story from a friend whose mother had her diamond swapped out while getting a cleaning,I decided to make sure I was going to a jeweler I felt I could trust. RF Moeller had excellent reviews on Angie's List and online. I typically do not take the time to review a business, but I felt an obligation to share my positive experience. I chose RF Moeller because they had good reviews and their goldsmith worked onsite. When I dropped off my ring and pendant, I purchased a new chain for my diamond pendant. Dan at RF Moeller was very professional and prompt when communicating my jewelry was ready to pick up. Yesterday while picking up my ring and pendant, I learned the jeweler who originally set my pendant swapped it out for Cubic Zirconia. I was in shock! I paid for the repairs, new chain for my pendant, and appraisal and left. After the shock wore off, I decided I needed to return the chain. Today, I went in and spoke to Brian who was extremely nice and returned the chain for a full refund. I had found the original appraisal and EGL diamond certificate from another jeweler. RF Moeller had done a thorough appraisal, but the price didn't reflect the original appraisal which was slightly higher. Brian patiently shared the difference between the 2 rating scales for diamonds and why the appraisals did not match up (Apparently, EGL isn't he highest standard). I left feeling good about the appraisal and would definitely recommend RF Moeller for repairs or purchases. read more

I was surprised to read the review from Patrick as I have had the opposite experience with RF. My husband and I have both found RF to be very well informed about Rolex and were grateful that we had found this jewelry store. We appreciated their advice on helping us maintain our watches and never felt they have tried to "scam us" into spending more money. We recently decided to set my engagement ring diamond into a new setting and were so happy with the service we received with this as well. When I described the setting I had been thinking of, I was shown many different settings, in all price ranges and when comparing to other local stores, RF not only had given me a wide variety of choices, but also some of the best quality choices. The prices weren't the cheapest, but that was because the diamonds in the settings were among the best we looked at and to us that was more important along with the unique designs that they offered. The last thing that I want to comment about RF is the amazing staff. Not only have we found them knowledgable, they are also extremely friendly and fun. Each time we have stopped in one of their different stores, there has always been someone from the actual Moeller family to help as well as plenty of well trained and informed staff. My experience with RF Moeller has been top notch. Many things stand out that make me say this, I'll list a few here. I had a 3 ring wedding band. One engagement ring/solitaire and two eternity bands to go above and below the engagement ring. I brought the rings in to have them cleaned and inspected, and also to talk about the possibility of connecting them somehow. I was so impressed with the level of service I received. They listened intently to my ideas and worked with me to come up with a unique design that would ensure the not only that it highlighted the uniqueness of the ring but also aided on keeping my rings from rubbing together which would limit my need for maintenance... That honesty and creativity is what makes this place stand out. They took the time to understand my desire and give me one on one feedback, and in my opinion, helped me design/create an absolutely gorgeous ring that I get compliments on often. I also have been impressed with the unique inventory as extensive ordering capabilities that they have. If you want it, they either have it or can get it. The service is superb. I love the family feel and personalized service I get when I walk in the door, never feeling pressure to buy, when I just want to browse the current selections. It's no wonder RF Moeller is such a renowned established business for so long....you get what you pay for and I'm thankful to have found this family owned jeweler with such a long history of great service and beautiful jewelry!
