We just moved to Kingsport TN a week ago. Felt like Italian and Googled it. I read some of the negative reviews and I have to say whoever that person was that left a scathing 1 star review must have dined in a totally different restaurant that us. I lived in NYC for 12 years and dined at some of the finest restaurants in the city. That was some of the best Italian I have had. My wife said the same. The dinner salad was perfect. Just enough of the right things on a refrigerated salad plate. The bread was awesome. Our server whose name was Carmen, even asked if we wanted more to take home. My wife had Oysters Rockefeller , bowl of Italian Wedding Soup and the stuffed mushroom caps. Her take on the Oysters was the best she has ever had. I also tried her soup and it was hot and delicious. In fact when the food arrived we had to let it cool down before we could taste it. I had a dinner salad, the pasta combo with spaghetti, stuffed shells and lasagna. the ragù was amazing. Carmen paired it with a delightful glass of Chianti. To me is was a perfect dinner. Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night was seated very quickly. Came here from a recommendation to have the chicken Marsala and that dish is one of my ol time favorites to eat and cook so I had to try it. All entree comes with either soup or salad but I was feeling hungry and ordered both. The house balsamic is pretty good the croutons were a little stale and not crunchy. Soup was ok veggies were over cooked but expected. Now for the Marsala ohhhh was it delicious they give you a large portion and you can choose the type of pasta you want. I do recommend it to others and I'm glad I took someone's recommendation. read more

Yikes. This place must be under new management or chef. Was there a few years back and the food was ok. This time I got gnocchi with Alfredo sauce. The chef must have been pissed, because that Alfredo sauce, was soup. Not creamy, tasteless, bland, and smelled weird. A few gnocchis were COLD. My one coworker ordered stuffed shells with marinara sauce, and THAT sauce was water. The decor is dated, dark, and smelled like cleaning chemicals. I will not be back. read more

I don't think the owners understood what "authentic" meant when they made this restaurant. Hosts where street clothes so you don't even know who works there and who doesn't. The food is subpar at best. Fazoli's is closer to authentic Italian than this place. read more

My coworker and I were really in the mood for good Italian food. We were not disappointed! I got the veal piccata with capers and a salad and it was excellent! I ordered the house red wine and ended up getting another glass because it was so good. I have two minor things to report. 1. The waiter made us feel rushed upon arrival but he settled down and ended up being an excellent waiter. 2. The dinner napkins are laundered and a very strong smelling laundry detergent so that when you put it up to your face it was overpowering. I realize that these are little nits but should be reported in case things like that might bother you. Give this place a try you'll really enjoy the food! Ciao! read more

Good old Italian food with great sauces and great options for everyone. We went during a baseball tournament with 10 little boys, their siblings and parents. All of us were pleased that there was something for everyone as most of the kids are picky. The kids ate and the adults were pleased as well. We will eat here again. Angel hair pasta was tough, oily, and loaded with garlic. Sausage calzone and accompanying sauce were bland. Both were disappointing.

I took my wife here for an early Valentines day date. I have never tried this place but have always heard great things, so I was very much looking forward to it. We started off with the shrimp cocktail and it was very good. Followed that up with Caesar salads which were also very good. The complimentary bread was not up to par with other Italian restaurants I have frequented in the past. This had more of a pizza dough texture. For the main course I had the seafood alfredo and my wife had the chicken parmesan. The alfredo sauce was extremely bland. The seafood with the pasta was cooked well but unfortunately the bland sauce overpowered it. The chicken parm sauce was also bland and mimicked a sauce straight out of a can. The service was very good, and the appetizer was also great. That is the only reason I give this review two stars. read more

Hit or miss on the food. Some stuff is okay, some stuff isn't great. I've tried quiet a few things from here and the only thing I would recommend is the prime rib. It is delicious! Best in town. Rest of the food doesn't really taste authentic and a lot of stuff i have had tastes burnt. The service is awful. We always get the same waitress and she only comes to take your order and bring your check. Forget about refills. You go most of your meal with no drink every single time, even when the place is not busy. read more

My wife and I were traveling thru Tennessee and decided to try Giuseppe's because we like to stay away from the chain restaurants that line the busy highways. We were more than pleasantly surprised, the entrees were delicious and drinks were perfect. The service was friendly, efficient and attentive. Perhaps the nicest part of our experience was the next day when my wife remembered she had left her purse on her chair, when we returned (before the restaurant opened) we were allowed in and hanging on the back of the office door was her purse, thoughtfully put there by the wait staff we assume. All our traveling money, credit cards etc. intact, we intend on returning if not just for the food but also to leave a big tip for the staff. Thank you so much. read more

Wow! My husband and I have been here twice and the food is excellent! I've tried the pizza (thin crust and flavorful), the Alfredo (my husband had mushroom ravioli with Alfredo sauce ), some kind of mushroom soup that was a special, and a mozzarella stick/fried mushroom appetizer. Yup, I do love mushrooms obvi ! They have plenty of options for those of us that are vegetarian but plenty for meat eaters like my husband too! The prices are what I would consider average for really good Italian. The interior is decorated nicely and we had good service both times, even on a busy weekend when we had a huge table. My family ate here tonight. There were six of us. My kids liked their spaghetti. None of the adults liked their food. I got the Stromboli. It barely had any cheese, the vegetables had no flavor nor did the bread. My parents had a shrimp pasta and the stuffed shells. All were over cooked and flavorless. I ordered a supreme pizza and the pasta Toscana with chicken, I wasn't in love with the food, it was ok, just ok, not very memorable, not something I would want to eat again. I did do a takeout order so I guess the food probably rested a bit before I ate it, the cheese on the pizza had cooled an the pasta sauce was a bit too thick for my liking. We tried them out on drag race weekend. When we saw all the cars we thought we would have a long wait. They seated us immediately. We decided to try an appetizer. The had raw oysters on the menu. YUM!! We haven't had them that good since one of our visits in Nags Head, NC. Our server was very attentive. The service was fast and friendly. The food was served quickly and was very good. My wife and I found ourselves in Kingsport on a Friday night. I wanted Italian, which thankfully so did my better half, and we ended up at Giuseppe's from a Yelp search. I always talk from two distinct perspectives on restaurants. The food and service. Ambiance doesn't carry much weight anymore with me. I do, however, also pay attention to cleanliness. So, for my main two factors. The food was easily a five star experience. The service, not so much. Minimal greeting at the door. "How many?" Two. "Follow me." Plopped down the menus at the table and walked away. Didn't see a server for almost ten minutes. No, they were not that busy. I was getting ready to ask any staff member if anyone knew we were there when our waiter walked up. No greeting, just wanted to take our drink order and were we ready to order. We ordered an appetizer and chatted up the waiter a bit and things did get a little more cordial by the end of the meal. As I stated before, the food was great and will bring us back. The staff needs to have a bit of customer relations remedial training. read more
