On the counter is a heartwarming photo that makes you feel the love of the bakery. The very friendly voice that asked what she could get me with a smile was so calming. I went to pick up some cannolis, but the tiramisu was calling my name! I bought 4 cannolis, the tiramisu, and then another 4 mini cannolis :) The mini ones are awesome too.. My personal favorite is the chocolate chip. My husband and his family had gone to a bakery in Hartford for yeaarrrssss.. However. Once finding Guiseppinas, there's no turning back. I love an Italian bakery! This is a family owned and authentic Italian bakery. They have traditional cookies, breads, cakes, pastries, and more. I found this spot via another app that offers discounts on end of day items. I had slices of cake which were good. I purchased a few more items full priced. Their website, counters, shelves, and showcases offer you temptations everywhere you look. Want a pastry? What kind of a question is that....sure you do, so how on Earth are you going to choose between these? Cannoli, Tiramisu, 3 kinds of mousse, eclairs, frosted or plain brownies (are you bold enough to get a brownie with peanut butter buttercream frosting?), cream horns, rum rolls, an amazing peach concoction of sweet dough soaked with peach juice and rum and filled with vanilla pudding (!), Sfogliatelle, Zeppol, cream puffs, NY style cheesecake, fruit slices (peaches and strawberries with whipped cream layers and frosting), pasticiotti, cappuccino slices, Amaretto Squares, Limoncello Cake Slices and Chocolate Brownie Cake Slices. And there's more - miniature pastries, Cheese danish, apple, raspberry and blueberry turnovers, Cranberry Orange scones, blueberry scones, chive scones, and roasted red pepper scones, lemon and cherry squares. Get the picture? And I haven't mentioned their Italian cookies, 25 cake varieties, cupcakes, cake pops, pizza slices, sandwiches and stuffed breads. After grabbing coffee next door, we wandered into this bakery to get a sweet treat. The display was filled with a large variety of cookies and cakes, all of which looked very attractive. After confirming that the cookies were sold by weight, the woman who helped us seemed genuinely increasingly annoyed as I added cookies to our order. Every time I uttered "one of those" or "two of those please" she would audibly sigh and then add them to the bag. Eventually, she just weighed the bag and said "Ten dollars" without bothering to ask if we were finished. "Okay, then", I thought, "I guess we are done". We had planned to purchase some cake slices as well but felt uncomfortably ushered out the door. It seems to be a well reviewed and popular bakery. We will never know as we won't be returning. I had heard great things about this bakery and thought they would be perfect for my friend's baby shower, but my experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. Trying to place an order well in advance was a nightmare. On three separate occasions, I was given different excuses: "You don't need to place it this far in advance," "The person who takes orders isn't here," and "We'll have someone call you back." Unfortunately, no one ever followed up. I was eventually able to place my order just a few days before the shower. On the day of the event, I went to pick up the order, only to be told they didn't have it. After some back-and-forth, they admitted they had forgotten to put the order in. As a solution, they offered full-size cannolis instead of the mini ones I had ordered, at the same price. While the situation was frustrating, I accepted this as a reasonable compromise given the circumstances. However, when I arrived at the venue and opened the boxes, I discovered that the cannoli's they promised were missing. I immediately called to address the issue, but the staff was rude and unhelpful. The only resolution they offered was a small gift card, which did not make up for the inconvenience or the impact on the event. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience, and I cannot recommend this bakery based on their poor communication, lack of organization, and inadequate customer service. read more

We were told this bakery was great but our experience was the opposite. We went for a wedding cake tasting and decided on a cake. At our wedding we found that it was not what we ordered. We wanted cannoli cake and got a plain white cake instead. Details matter at a wedding and we checked in multiple times to make sure it was right yet they still made the wrong cake. After confronting them about it they offered no sympathy. They said they would give us a gift certificate but had none available to give that day. A wedding cake is important and should be taken as such. They apparently don't care about people's special day and look at it as just another cake. I recommend going somewhere else for something as important as your wedding cake because it matters and they apparently don't care. As far as other things I have tasted there, cannolis and cakes, they are average at best. Spend your money elsewhere and don't be duped by other reviews. read more

They have pastries that look like art. They have cookie platters that are out of this world. And the cakes... well, let's discuss. I'm not sure what it's called, but it's a vanilla cake with fresh sliced peaches and strawberries, layered with Marscapone frosting. I'd like to have a slice of it right now, if I'm being honest. It's amazing! You can even call or email ahead of time to have cookie platters or cakes ready to go for pick up the next day. The owners even opened early one day for me to pick up. Dear Giuseppina's Bakery in South Windsor Connecticut, I did not appreciate having to pay for items that I did not order, nor did I appreciate being repeatedly called a liar by one of your staff members. I don't know who the hell she called, but it was not me...I never received any phone messages from your bakery. Your customer service is abysmal when you feel the need to call your customers liars to cover up your own mistakes. I did not order the lattice apple pies, I graciously paid for them, but when I tasted them, they were horrible! I'm sure that by now you know what you can do with your lattice pies! The professionalism when ordering the cake was lacking. The person we were dealing with seemed overwhelmed and completely disorganized. We wanted to make one slight change to the cake 6 months in advance. It took 2 months for Jenny to get back to us. When it came down to the wedding, they seemed highly annoyed I didn't use their florist for flowers on my cake I used mine. Also, I ordered some cake pops that were gluten free. They NEVER DELIVERED THEM! The cake itself was on the dry side. I made two calls to the bakery and apparently Jenny only got one of my messages. Writing this review with a broken heart! Giuseppina bakery was our sentiment as we order cake from this place for all our occasions. Since we have been coming along for quite a long time, in spite of my friend being a good established baker, we wanted to order our kid's second birthday cake in Giuseppina. Cake was nicely decorated. Cake was good (I don't want to be rude saying I didn't like it) Cake WAS NOT WHAT WE ORDERED. I have attached the conversation happened between me and the co-owner (lady). A simple "sorry" would have been better.Aren't we paying a little too high for getting that response?! We cannot bring the cake back when we have seven kids around it and when we were in the middle of a huge get together. All our kids just like the chocolate flavor and one of the pics shows the leftover cake even after 4 days no kid wants to have. Why would we lie we enjoyed it?! It was a courtesy not to discourage a hardworking baker that we told it was good. Despite reading my last message to her, she doesn't seem feeling sorry. Purchased over $100 worth of items . We had two pieces of cake. One coconut and one chocolate . Pretty Horrible . One was frozen on the inside and the other seemed stale . I think they must freeze the leftover stuff at the end of the day and maybe we ate day old cake that didn't thaw out all the way . We also got a calzone for a party and it was filled with salt . No one could eat it and we threw it out . Bought a whip cream cake too and the inside strawberries were soggy when cutting it it fell apart . The two pounds of cookies we bought were very good . This is a small family run bakery. Their cakes seems to be very popular. For my next special occasion / birthday, I will order cake from here. I tried the chicken spinach and feta stuffed bread. I spotted this joint based on a friends recommendation and I am glad I did. The place is very warm and nice and you feel welcomed, the person working (I assume is the owner of the place too) greeted with a big smile and made us feel comfortable. They have a good selection of pastries, cookies and breads (pies). I picked up a few pastries and the one that got me the most excited is the donut filled with apple, that's one delicious pastry. I recently went to an event hosted by Maneeley's in South Windsor, an Evening with Buddy Valastro. Buddy had brought a bunch of cakes and pastries from his bakery for us all to enjoy at the end of the evening. However, the highlight of dessert for me was the cannolis. Come to find out, the heavenly cannolis were not from Buddy's shop, but from Giuseppina's, a local bakery in South Windsor. No disrespect to Buddy or his pastries, but these cannolis were out of this world! I have somewhat high expectations of cannolis that not many bakeries meet. These were filled fresh (not an easy feat with hundreds of hungry guests literally storming the dessert table), the shells were crisp, the filling was rich, creamy and just perfect. It was my favorite dessert of the night. I can't wait to go to the actual storefront for Giuseppina's to try their other Italian delights! If everything else they bake is even half as good as these cannolis were, it would still be a 5!!! read more
