"You need bread, try the bakery You need lovin', look here, baby I got just what you need" (The Doors) Well, whatever your needs might be, you'll probably take care of it at Giuseppina's Italian Bakery, because they really do have it all. Their website, counters, shelves, and showcases offer you temptations everywhere you look. Want a pastry? What kind of a question is that....sure you do, so how on Earth are you going to choose between these? Cannoli, Tiramisu, 3 kinds of mousse, eclairs, frosted or plain brownies (are you bold enough to get a brownie with peanut butter buttercream frosting?), cream horns, rum rolls, an amazing peach concoction of sweet dough soaked with peach juice and rum and filled with vanilla pudding (!), Sfogliatelle, Zeppol, cream puffs, NY style cheesecake, fruit slices (peaches and strawberries with whipped cream layers and frosting), pasticiotti, cappuccino slices, Amaretto Squares, Limoncello Cake Slices and Chocolate Brownie Cake Slices. And there's more - miniature pastries, Cheese danish, apple, raspberry and blueberry turnovers, Cranberry Orange scones, blueberry scones, chive scones, and roasted red pepper scones, lemon and cherry squares. Get the picture? And I haven't mentioned their Italian cookies, 25 cake varieties, cupcakes, cake pops, pizza slices, sandwiches and stuffed breads. The truth is, this place is fantastic and is clearly in the top ten percent of Italian bakeries we've visited. We picked up an assortment of cake slices, a croissant, a scone, and a donut yesterday. They all looked amazing! We started off splitting that donut, and it was great -very light, not too sweet and just plain delicious. Shout out to the young lady who waited on us, she was pleasant and friendly, and our interaction was a far contrast to some of the less than favorable interactions reported by other Yelpers. PRO TIP 1) Don't worry about parking- they're in a shopping center with plenty of parking. 2) How good does their fig, prosciutto and Asiago cheese stuffed bread sound?

If you're driving down Sullivan Ave and see the "Bakery" sign in the plaza across from Geisslers, that's the spot you need to check out! You walk in to beautiful glass case of fresh bakery items. On the counter is a heartwarming photo that makes you feel the love of the bakery. The very friendly voice that asked what she could get me with a smile was so calming. I went to pick up some cannolis, but the tiramisu was calling my name! I bought 4 cannolis, the tiramisu, and then another 4 mini cannolis :) The mini ones are awesome too.. My personal favorite is the chocolate chip. My husband and his family had gone to a bakery in Hartford for yeaarrrssss.. However. Once finding Guiseppinas, there's no turning back. Highly recommend!

If you didn't know this place existed - you would drive right by. Horrible curb appeal!! However, once inside delightfully cute Italian bakery. From fresh pies, stuffed breads, to treats and your traditional Italian cookies. We ordered a variety of Italian cookies and treats. Everything was delicious. The staff is very friendly and patient, since everyone walking in stares at all the goodies for a while, realizing you can't have it all. Lol. If you are in the area - a great Italian bakery!! Worth the trip.

Absolutely over the moon excited with my baby reveal cake! The decorator did a phenomenal job of capturing my vision. The cake was super tasty (we got a yellow vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting inside and buttercream frosting on the outside). Thank you for making our announcement special!

2 lb cookie platter. Ordered the night before and it was ready at 7:00 am!

This is my new favorite bakery! Whether you want a cake for a special occasion, a plate of cookies to bring to work, or simply a sweet to get you through the workday, Giuseppina's is your place to go! This Italian bakery is legit. They have pastries that look like art. They have cookie platters that are out of this world. And the cakes... well, let's discuss. I'm not sure what it's called, but it's a vanilla cake with fresh sliced peaches and strawberries, layered with Marscapone frosting. I'd like to have a slice of it right now, if I'm being honest. It's amazing! You can even call or email ahead of time to have cookie platters or cakes ready to go for pick up the next day. The owners even opened early one day for me to pick up. That's just good business right there! If you're still reading this review, I'm going to politely ask you WHY you haven't already gotten into your car and started driving to Giuseppina's Italian Bakery. There will be something delicious waiting for you!

I'll be short and sweet. Outstanding, family-run Italian bakery. Their cookies, pastries, cakes are the best in the area. For quality, they rival anything in the Bronx or Queens, and their prices are reasonable. Do not have the largest selection.... the square footage is not that big. But what they do make, mouth-watering. Love this place.

Nardi's bakery was a must go to 8n East Hartford when it was in Connecticut Boylevard. They moved after a lengthy time there to a great location in South Windsor. It was always busy. As time went in, family members got older and the bakery couldn't operate in the way the family had great pride in doing. The bakery has closed but left great memories for all their customers.

But in addition to their wholesale business, they have a retail store at their South Windsor bakery where retail customers can buy the same wonderful products. Nardi Bakery started out in Hartford in the early 1900's, moving to Connecticut Blvd in East Hartford around 1980 and to their current location off Rt. 5 in South Windsor around 2000. They are famous for the Front Street sheet pizza, which is what I'm reviewing today. The pizza comes packed up in a tidy bundle, wrapped in deli paper and sits comfortably in a card board soda flat box. A full sheet pizza is 24 pieces and runs $20. The retail store only takes cash, so plan ahead! The pizza is a thicker, bready pizza with a zesty, acidic yet slightly sweet tomato sauce. There is not a lot of cheese on the pizza, certainly not a solid layer of mozz like most pizzas, think more like a light sprinkling of parmigiano or romano. I remember family gatherings in East Hartford where my grandfather and later my uncle would arrive bearing several sheet pizzas, and it had been years since I had the taste of Nardi's pizza until I recently rediscovered them at their South Windsor location. The taste is pure nostalgia for me. Many people like Nardi's cold out of the fridge, some like it warmed up (10 minutes at 350F works for me), I like it both ways. While you do get 24 good sized pieces in a sheet pizza, I recommend ordering at least two... not only does it keep well in the fridge, but you're going to want to share so others can taste how great it is!

What I had never done before was order online abd go to the store to pickup until last night. Well...it was a cluster f&$k!!!!! I ordered online Saturday evening around 7:30 because we are going somewhere Sunday and they are closed. I waited about 1/2,hour and headed to the store. I not a notification on my phone to "checkin" when I arrived so I parked and checked in from my phone. As I approached the store I was surprised to see a very long line inside of people waiting. But I ordered online a while ago so I won't have to wait, right? WRONG! This is not like Jersey Mikes (or most other food places) where you order online and they start making your food. Apparently at Crumbl, you don't get a spot in line until you checkin! So I had to wait some 20 minutes for 6 cookies I ordered 45 minutes ago. HORRIBLE! Defeats ordering ahead !! They need a radio button in APP: 1. Prepare now or 2. I want them fresh prepare when I checkin. Mine were for next day so whether they boxed them at 7:30 (and had them ready!) or 8:00 when I arrived makes no difference as they're for next day. End of world? NO! But customer experience? You have an awesome APP and "fun" is what you're about - you should have takeout orders ready no one wants to wait!! They did make an announcement when I arrived that they fell behind due to current special. The line moved well but I didn't like that customers who ordered right before I walked in were ahead of me in line even though I ordered 30 minutes ago (and paid!). Great, fun cookies in a cool atmosphere however. EDIT: I got a nice note from the store. But they miss the point. It doesn't matter what the customer wants they are obsessed with "fresh boxing" (even if customer wants them for next day and temp doesn't matter). They showed me during this visit they can't come close to keeping up when they're busy, so be prepared to wait. "We do it our way screw how that inconveniences our customers". All I suggested was an option - box now or wait til I get to the store. Keep everyone happy!!

"I walked in, the baker said everything was sold I found out…read moreshe saved me some sweet jelly roll Yes, the baker shop boogie" (Willie Nix) Since we're friends, let me ask you a personal question--so tell me this: what's your official dessert policy? Are you a "dessert is a human right" kind of person who enjoys something sweet every night after dinner? Do you ceremoniously pair your evening coffee with a treat like it's a sacred ritual? Or are you more of a free range snacker who grazes on cookies and pastries whenever the mood strikes? At our place, we've somehow drifted into the habit of having a bakery item most nights. Could be a cookie. Could be a pastry. Could be a slice of something. All this brings me to yesterday's visit to the Hartford Baking Company in South Windsor, where we are now pretty well stocked for a week's worth of upcoming desserts, and maybe a breakfast or two. They have four locations in the Greater Hartford area, all selling the same amazing product line of bread, ciabatta, and rolls. But for the sweet tooth fiends out there, well get psyched for their scones, muffins, Walnut Coffee Cake, Financiers (a French almond cookie), brownies and bars, cookies, biscotti, shortbreads, Danish, Cinnamon buns, Pecan-Walnut Sticky Buns, Brioche Pastries, fruit tarts, and quiches. We were running errands in South Windsor yesterday, popped into Hartford Baking, and walked out with a bounty of wonderful looking goodies- brownies, a croissant, a chocolate banana muffin, a rectangular Financier, and a slice of coffee cake. We should be set for a while in the dessert department. I had the Financier last night, and never having heard of the word before, I consulted the old Google machine for some research and found a very cool origin-story. In the late 1800's there was a pastry shop located near the Paris Stock Exchange. The shop sold very popular small almond cakes that were baked in small rectangular molds resembling gold bars. They were a hit with the busy bankers who frequented his shop. The name "financier" stuck because of both the clientele and the gold bar shape. I have to tell ya, that Financier was amazing. It was dense and delicious and overflowing with almond flavor. I loved it. I also had a teense of the Banana Muffin this morning, and it was excellent as well. Loved that banana flavor and those chocolate chips. OK, so file away "Hartford Bakery" on your short list of "must visit" dessert destinations, because I assure you that you'll walk out a satisfied customer.
