I love the structure, the Korean food, and the overall environment. Nothing about the school feels low-budget -- the programs, facility, events, and daily care all feel thoughtfully planned and well-run. We've also had great luck with the teachers, who have made our experience very positive over the years. Of course, like any school, not every parent will agree on everything, and some may have complaints. But in my opinion, Dongshin has a long waitlist for a reason. The only thing I would love to see improved is offering a bit healthier breakfast and snack options, although I do appreciate that meals and snacks are even included to begin with. She is in the youngest class for kids aged 2-2.5. There are about 12 students in the class with 2 teachers (6:1 ratio!), which is SO much better than the ratio we had before of 10:1 (teachers seemed overwhelmed at the previous school). Here, the teachers seem to love children and always have something specific and positive to say about my daughter. And if they do have any negative feedback, they say it in such an understanding, gentle way that is easy to receive as parents (we all know how our children can be lol but it's nice when they share it kindly). We also ran into a lot of people we know here at the school and every single person I spoke to sang PRAISES about this school and how much they love it. That says A LOT and my husband and I were reassured we made the right choice in moving my daughter here. We were SO impressed with all the hands-on activities she gets to do during the day, including weekly taekwondo to support children with their hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills, STEM days, sand play, share day, and so many other play-based activities that support their development. For Halloween, they even brought in a petting zoo, a truck/train that was driven around the school, a field trip to the fire station, and a whole barn area for the children to play in. This preschool goes above and BEYOND to love on the children and we could NOT be happier with this school! I also know their TK and Kindergarten classes are packed with students, because parents want to keep their children at Dongshin for as long as possible. I can see why! We also wanted our daughter to improve her Korean and since starting here in September, her Korean has improved SO much! And I love the Bible-based activities they do at the school - I am a firm believer our young children can learn so much about God and faith, and I can tell Dongshin operates under this same belief. At the age of 2, she even brought home an activity that showed the blood of the lamb on the door frames for when God "passed over" the Israelites' home during the final plague in Egypt. Amazing what they teach here! We were thinking about moving our home to be closer to my son's school but decided to stay where we're at mostly because we love this school so much and do not want to move our daughter out. It's so hard to find a trusted preschool for our precious children so we are not letting this place go until she moves onto my son's school! There is a really long waitlist (min. 2 years!) so I'd recommend putting your baby on the list as soon as he/she is born lol it sounds crazy but trust me, everyone wants the best for their children and this is it! They don't take a "one size fits all" approach, but tailor their methods to meet the needs of each individual child. First off, this daycare center is run by an Indian owner so most staff members are either older Indians or Filipinos who are not qualified categivers but more so just people who need paying jobs and can't get them elsewhere. Secondly, communication can be challenging at times since they would tell me something and it would take awhile or some guessing to know what they actually need. Imagine having these people trying to communicate to your children at the age where they're trying to absorb as much language skills and other social skills as possible. The communication issues happen at the top as well since the So-called Director of the center has only passable level of English. Communication issues aside; what bothered me most was the level of inexperience of the staff members, not to mention the high turnover rate of staff members. Within 6 months of having my child under their care, I would get random calls during the day to have me pick up my child early for various reasons, such as "he's not eating, he has runny nose; he has a fever, etc." so be ready to leave work early whenever they call. The thing that is most irritating is most of the time when I had to pick up my kid early, he was perfectly fine and not anywhere near the level where he needed to go home early. This just goes to show how inexperienced the staff are and they'd rather send a kid home than actually do their job and take care of the kids since they don't know how. Several times when I pick up my kid from school, the staff would realize that they forgot to feed my kid milk that was packed in his backpack so they would just give him milk at pickup, which is around 5pm so my kid did not have anything to eat since lunchtime. Searching around for schools when your child reaches the age of a pre schooler can be one of the…read moremost stressful things you can do. I googled, went on Facebook groups, Reddit, you name it. I visited dozens of schools and when I found dream-I, I knew right away this was the school for my daughter. Other schools gave me quick tours then asked if I wanted to be on a waiting list. I didn't get to ask much questions or understand the curriculum and environment of the school. Dream I did an in depth one-on-one tour for me and my kid which ended up being around an hour or so. They explained every little thing they do and let me ask ALL the questions I had. And was patient about it lol Michelle and Chad have made sure my child was going to be in a safe and nurturing but also academically growing space. My child has grown so much in the past few months and comes home with A wealth of knowledge! One day she came home reciting the solar system, then the days of the week and more! I am confident that dream I is not only keeping my child safe but making sure she as academically growing in the best and funnest way possible. Very happy with my kids progress.
