We walked in & a very attentive bartender in a cute leopard dress greeted us and provided menus, both regular & street fair. I asked if Thursday, Ladies Day was being honored for $8 signature sips (martinis), she replied yes. Instead, all 3 of us decided to order the Frozen Mocha Espressos. Great choice and suggestion, thank you! Afterwards, each of us decided to order a Signature Sip. Very tasty, but...guess what? Card was charged full price. When I inquired why about the price to a different bartender, she came back with. "We don't honor those prices during Street Fair". Hmmm, then why were we told differently when first inquired. Fun place for a fun cocktail. Great meet-up place, although not necessarily somewhere I would hang all night. But, shouldn't be missed if you are pub crawling in Wyndotte or just looking for something interesting and different drink-wise. The Pina Colada martini is sweet and delicious. The Pink Panther, lemonade, vodka and raspberry liqueur was pretty refreshing and their dessert martinis like the Buttafinga looked enticing, but we didn't try them so I can't comment. Unassuming spot (look hard for sign). Once you get in you will like the open floor plan and simple decor. Great martini, beer, and full bar choices. They are happy to get foods from next store for you but they'll have to swipe your card next store (not a big deal) and next door is a tasty bbq joint. read more

Walked in and there was a big birthday party getting ready to start for someone. The place is actually pretty big and the style is pretty cool. It's the original bar from the prohibition days, and the building has quite a lot of history to it. The drinks are good, lots of options and the staff is pretty good. The martini menu is extensive and the make a great martini also. Also, they didn't water down the drinks with a ton of ice. The only con I could see to this was that the food was okay. I mean yes it's a bar, but it's not the type of place I'd come to have dinner. Definitely a great atmosphere for small plates and drinks. read more

We had an absolute blast at Gizzmos! We decided to hang out in Wyandotte for the day. It is such a cool city by the water. Being bar crawl night, we were in the right place. We ended up sitting at the bar and ordering a few martinis and a few shots to get the night started! We bumped into the coolest bartender! She was hilarious and could really mix up some drinks. He decided to let me do his choosing for the night, so I ordered him a pineapple upside down martini and a caramel apple one. I ordered a Raspberry martini. Our drinks were delicious. We also ordered apple pie shots...yummmmm! They best part of the night, free credits on the jukebox. Guess who was the DJ in charge? lol We had an absolute blast picking out our favorite songs of the decades and singing along. I even caught him doing a little dancing! hahaa What an amazing time at Gizzmos! We will most certainly be back. It's moments like this that make lasting memories. read more

Little drink for the night. Staff is great and quick to assure your glass is full. They do have appetizers to order. Though I've only had the loaded chips. Comes with cheddar, bacon, scallions, and tomatoes. They are very filling and a huge portion sizes. This feeds three no problem. Key-lime martini is my personal favorite. Also, try the upside down pineapple cake. Both are great!! The owner also owns the Alvis Bbq next door. I will have to try it out as well. read more

Plus side: drinks are great! Downside: young staff, preoccupied.... Water never came to the table like we asked for when drinks were ordered. It's dead in here right now and the girl has never come back to take our food order..... drinks have been drunk and we are sitting here watching her continue to be oblivious to our table. Because she was constantly playing on her phone... we had to go to the bar to ask for our drink tab so we could leave and go somewhere else to eat. Very good martinis. They have classic, fruity and dessert martinis. The beer selection is good too. The carry many Michigan beers. They serve food too. The kitchen sent out homemade ranch and bbq potato chips out to everybody at the bar. A welcomed surprise. read more

When asked to speak to a manager, i was yelled at! When eating what was left of what i could salvage through, the waitress starts to take my plate of food. I WAS STILL EATING!! I like going here with friends after work. The food is good but the drinks are really expensive ($10 for a martini). I think it's kinda strange that they can only split the bill in two... They have specials on the weekends but not during the week. My guess is they need more business on the weekends. read more

Admittedly, it's unfair for me to judge bars in the downriver area since I live in Chicago. They just don't compare, but Gizzmo's is alright. They have a decent beer selection and I've seen some inventive cocktails from the bartender with the handlebar mustache (forgot his name, sorry!) I would say he really makes that bar. Pros:This place has excellent drinks. The atmosphere was good. Bartenders were really nice and professional. There is a long list of drinks to chose from. Small but not crampted and adequate seating. Cons:The music was really loud and there wasnt really a dance floor. Other: Crowd looked older on the inside...early to late 40's. It was younger on the front patio...20's/30's. This is a great martini bar. Fantastic drink menu, tons of both fruity and dessert martinis, and the bartenders are wonderful. The service is very quick and great. Never feel neglected, and they have vast knowledge on the drinks and beer. Even though the martinis are perfect, the beer selection is pretty good too! Was able to try some beer I have never had before and got great recommendations from the bartender when I asked. This is a low key bar, usually not too full, so it's not uncomfortable. They do serve good food as well if you're hungry while going out for drinks. The menu has an upscale feel to it, without being too pricey. I came here with a friend last night. She's looking for a sugar daddy, and we decided that Martini Bars and Jazz clubs would be a good place to meet a rich, older man. I didn't really like the set up of this place. It was too narrow, and it was mostly couples. We were there for about an hour and didn't even hear any live jazz. I went up here with a friend when I was in town over Xmas break. There was only on guy working and he was great, super nice & did a nice job taking care of the place by himself. However, I'm not sure if they had some kind of flood or the traps are bad on their drains, but the place kind of smells like a sewer. It is really tough to get past that. If they could fix the smell I would be inclined to go back to this place, otherwise I would rather go elsewhere. read more

My friends and I love it here. Perfect place for a girls night out! The drinks are a little pricey, but they're strong and worth it. The staff is super cool and really nice. They always make sure to tell you about their specials and give you recommendations. The food is great too...we've only ever ordered appetizers but can't complain, they're always really good. My only real complaint is that its so small. It gets so crowded when there's any kind of event going on downtown Wyandotte, which is cool, but they don't turn people away.. so you end up cramming into a packed bar, only to not be waited on. It's partly our fault too for trying every time...but we cant help it...the Flirtini's are too good!!! read more

I have been here 3 times and will never go back. Actually, after the second time, my finance and I agreed we would never go back but some friends of ours wanted to the third time, so we did. All three times we were there they were not busy, yet our service was terrible. Each time we had trouble getting the drinks or food we asked for. It would take multiple requests to get something as simple as water or, the mainstay of this bar, a martini. The wait staff is fluent in cuss words, although I cuss a lot myself, I am also in customer service and almost never do so when speaking or meeting with my clientele - it's extremely unprofessional. The last time we were there, they ran out of olives for their spicy martini so, to make up for it, they dumped a bunch of extra Tabasco sauce in the drink. When it came to he table I asked where the olives were, the waitress told me they were out. I asked if they dumped a bunch of tobacco sauce in it to make up for then, she told me "yes, we did." The drink tasted terrible, but I drank it anyway and left. The reason this bothered me at all is that she never asked me if it was OK, never told me they were out of the olives, didn't offer me an alternative, or anything resembling good customer service. She just came out, threw the drink down, and tried to hurry away before I noticed. Apparently, she thought I wouldn't notice or assumed she could get one over on me. These aren't cheap drinks, and I don't appreciate people treating me like an idiot. Will not be back here. I don't care if all of my friends want to go there, I will convince them otherwise. read more

I will preface my review with a disclaimer that their martini's are fantastic. This review is about their weekday bar staff and "food". They have smallnplate options in their menu but they never seem to be available. The kitchen is always closed. I had to walk out a few weeks ago because we were looking for food. Finally we saw on their facebook that the chef from another well known bar was cooking up his famous burgers so a group of us decided to go. They were not prepared to host the chef at all. When we got there we were informed they had run out of food and it would be a while since they sent someone for meat. No problem, we'll hang out and drink. Almost an hour later the waitress came back to take our order. Your choices were hamburgers or French fries. That's it! They had wings but apparently ran out and weren't offering them anymore. As someone who doesn't eat red meat it was a disappointing visit. It took a half hour longer for my party to actually get the burgers, which were decent according to those that ate them. A little pricey at $7.50 a burger, with no sides. If they update their Facebook inviting people to come in for the chef they need to update that's all you have. read more
