My previous review was for the old Trolley Stop, not the new location. New location is okay but very expensive.

Whoever bought this cute kitschy bar with character, completely ruined it and just made a millennial grey + cold lighted dump.

I used to come here back when it was just the "Trolley Stop", an old school bar vibe with your local neighborhood people, I miss those days. So now, we walked into the new management but same name bar, it is VERY different than what I was used to seeing. The lighting was way brighter, the seating was larger, the bartenders are was a lot bigger, more room for them to work, they have a couple walk in fridges which is neat. Now I will say the area is much louder by a lot, it definitely does get packed and it will take a little bit of time to get your drinks. They only had 2 bartenders and 2 servers working, it seemed very difficult for the employees to get everyone's drink orders in a fast and efficient fashion, I believe if they had 2 more servers and 2 more bartenders it would be just enough to accompany everyone at the bar. That's just my opinion though. I like the fact that they have an electronic board for drinks like a stock market, for every drink being sold the most the stock of it rises in price and for every drink that wasn't even being drunk the stock for it dropped and the prices changed every 2 minutes. It was like a stock market for alcohol and I loved it. We ordered an appetizer and some food, the appetizer was pretzel bites which were really good and the cheese was very creamy. For our main course I ordered the salmon dinner and my wife ordered a ceasar salad. Now before I say anything bad or might upset anyone I loved JP Mcquires on mortenview Rd. It is 5 star amazing but this place just isn't hitting and maybe it's cause they just opened but it's still developing. Now, The salmon dinner was just mediocre, they added WAY too many chickpeas, I feel like half the plate was full of them, the salmon was good but with the overwhelming chickpeas you could barely taste the salmon. The salad my wife had wasn't chopped, you definitely have to cut it cause it was like they brought her out a bush and she had to chop it down. The salad was okay but nothing special, she had shrimp added and it only came with 3 pieces of shrimp so not worth the price you had to pay extra for it. All in all, this is a good place to come for drinks and appetizers but not for dinner and if you don't like loud places this isn't for you but everything is cheap here and VERY reasonably priced. read more

Had dinner & drinks there a week ago after it reopened under new management. We had friendly service and the food was excellent. The new owners did a great job on the interior of this establishment. The inside is not at all like the old dark place. Very comfortable---a perfect place to relax, drink and enjoy a good meal. read more

I wasn't really impressed with the menu. They didn't have a lot to choose from. If you want drinks, there's plenty. But I'm not a real big drinker. I like JP mcguire's, so let's make JP trolley the same. I would like to see pizza and nachos. added to the menu at least read more

The music is WAY TO LOUD. Nice atmosphere. Food was good. Must turn down the music. Hamburger need more meat. Bun was bigger than the meat.

It's exactly what you'd want and expect from a local Downriver bar. Quality service, cheap drinks, decent pours, and greasy food. We come here almost exclusively on Fridays for karaoke. The start time is listed at 9pm but it usually takes a bit longer to get up and running. No worries because they always have a game on, and weirdly, CMT. We tend to talk to lots of patrons because our group is always singing different types of songs, and we usually close it down (or close to it). This place is great for fish dinner on Fridays. The seafood is awesome. The fish and shrimp dinners are battered to your choosing. Light or thick. Both are really good. I will brag on the pizza as well. If your in the area and think you've tried all the pizza places in town. You definitely have missed a big one. Lots of cheese and toppings with a very tasty crust. The rest of the menu is your normal bar food. The service could be better though my waitress is great!! I would of liked to seen a little more help on the floor though. Stopped in this week for the first time. Somehow I missed it for 8 years even though it's less than five minutes from my house. Fun atmosphere, with plenty of raised seating around a large central rectangular bar. The clientele mostly looked like regulars but they were full of smiles and much friendlier than many of the other local joints. We had a few pizzas and a platter of appetizers. The appetizers were standard fried bar fare (taquitos, wings, cheese sticks, chicken fingers, etc) but all were done correctly and came with a nice array of sauces. The pizzas were really good. Much better than some of Dearborn's finer in-house pizza joints, which was a pleasant surprise. I especially liked the Hawaiian, which isn't normally my favorite. Beer pitchers were standard price but the selection was a notch above other local establishments - it's nice to grab a pitcher of 312 Wheat as an option instead of just the normal Bud, Miller, Labatt choices. Wait staff was pleasant and visited as often as can be expected given that the place was quite busy and bordering on packed. Good to see in this economy, and indicative of the overall quality of service and food here. I will definitely be throwing this into my regular rotation, much to the chagrin of many of my other neighborhood favorites. My five dining mates were similarly impressed. This place is a dump. But, it appears everyone in here is a local and they don't care so, you've gotta love a place that doesn't have an identity crisis. I see that Yelp has a list of local dive bars, this one should be added to that list. This place is right across the street from Allen Park High School which we needed to go to for a Division 3 State Semi-Final Football game. Generally when we go to away games we leave early and hit up a local place for a couple beers and an appetizer. The Trolley Stop was the only place with beer near APHS so our choice was made for us. This is your typical 1970's dive bar. Spooky curb appeal, no windows at all, bar in the center, enter in either the front or the back, sit down and shut up. When we walked in we knew it was gonna be sketchy but I'm not skurred. Little did we know we were in the most hostile of territories. Literally everyone in this place was wearing an Allen Park shirt or hat LOL! Despite the fact we were emblazoned with the enemy colors we received a very warm welcome. Something that was not expected for sure. They introduced us to the quarterbacks parents, the old wrestling coach and the guy who had 6 kids graduate from Allen Park. We literally took the last 2 seats in the place but even though it was packed our waitress was speedy and friendly. The beer was cold, the friday fish was outstanding and the prices were dirt cheap. I'll probably never come back here because my kid graduates this year and I don't come out this way often but, if Allen Park is your jam, stop in here for a cold one. read more

Make no mistake, this is a local's bar! The upshot is that it doesn't seem to matter if you're a local or a regular. From day one, we've always gotten great service from smiling bartenders. Drinks are hole-in-the-wall cheap! If you can't afford to drink a night away here, then you can't afford to drink. Don't expect to find anything too crafty in the way of beer or cocktails, but you'll do just fine with a Miller Lite, a shot of Jim Beam, or a vodka cran. Live music on Saturdays draws a pretty good crowd. It can get loud in here, but not too rowdy. It's usually just a nice lively pulse. We've sampled a handful of food items, and all have hit the spot quite nicely. A step above what you'd expect from this type of establishment. This is definitely a regulars bar but newcomers are treated with equal respect. I've eaten here a couple times with my boyfriends family as this is a usual Saturday lunch spot for them. Relaxed atmosphere. I always order a buffalo chicken quesadilla which isn't on the menu but they can make reasonable special requests as long as they have the ingredients to do so. Take caution with certain items. I stepped outside of my comfort zone once and ordered a Reuben. Big mistake. I didn't wait for long, but my food was room temp when it arrived and the center of the sandwich was very cold. read more

We used to go here every Friday night for the fish fry and maybe another night during the week. Definitely an older crowd. Friday nights is like Bill Knapps. The fish used to be really good and then they must have changed cooks or batters because it recently got really bad. We haven't been back. Three times in the past couple of months we've gone in there and they have been completely out of Miller products - bottle and draft. They had Sam Adams and then ran out of that etc. Not a good sign. The paint is starting to peel off the walls and it looks like he's doing very little in the maintenance department. You'll always see the owner drinking at the bar..... or some of the others around town. Waitresses are nice for the most part depending on who you get. There are a couple that are ditzy as all get out. They will forget drinks, take wrong food orders etc. Normally, the beer is cold and cheap. Thursday night pizzas are great and we've never had a bad one. One of the first bars I've been in wthout any coolers behind the bar though. They fill these sink basins with ice for the beer every day. Really inefficient. I feel bad for the bartenders. Not a good set up. Bathrooms are iffy at best and many times I've been in there with a very wet floor around the toilets or they are really dirty. This is your typical downriver hole in the wall and has it's moments. Kylie was our waitress who was running around serving everyone seated in the dingy lit bar. I stopped in here as I have before for the Perch dinner! The first time wasn't that good, but my friends kept insisting I try it again while in town, lol. My friend order their burger which she really enjoyed. I ordered a cup of clam chowder that was extra creamy, lots of taters, very little calms, but the flavor of bacon upon the initial bite was pronounced! It was just ok.. Then the perch dinner, baked potato, with a piece of bread and no coke slaw that I did not want. The potato was sitting in the foil for quite some time and was not what a baked potato should look or taste like. The perch was fried without batter and was left in a mount of warm grease. Needless to say, I took a few bites of each and pushed the food away letting Kylie know I was done. Kylie makes the place a 4 star because of her personality and service. The live music nights on Monday nights is a lot of fun, great music and people. The bar staff is very friendly and attentive. Only downside? Way too loud. The noise level is ridiculously loud and you can't hear the person next to you. Overall, definitely worth checking out! read more

We bought a large dinner and one of the burgers was under cooked. The fried mushrooms were overcooked. The fried food tasted like it was cooked in old grease. When we called to complain about it they said to bring the food up there because they don't believe us. That we might be trying to scam them. We will never go back again. read more

I'm sorry that I couldn't give this place zero stars. I had my hopes up after the remodeling was finished that they might be able to turn this place around. To say I was dissapointed with the place is an understatement. I didn't go into place looking to find things wrong.In fact I was hoping to finally have a decent bar to go to in the downriver area. My first experience when I took a seat was waiting and wondering if I was ever going to get service. Its almost if I was being ignored by the staff even though the place was less than half full. When I was finally able to order a drink,it took the staff almost 20 minutes to bring me my drink. I was still willing to give the place the benefit of the doubt and tried really hard to like the bar. As I scanned the room to get an idea of the type of clientele that frequented the establishment,I was amazed to see it was mainly men. I wasn't there looking to pickup a female but I did expect to see more than the handful that was there. I'm not trying to be rude but the ladies that were there had to be some of the most unatractive women I've seen in quite some time. After finishing my first beer,I ordered a second one and stepped outside to smoke while waiting for it to arrive. I couldn't have been outside for more than 5 minutes before I was approached by 2 different people asking me if I wanted to buy some drugs.After this happened,I became concerned about my safety and decided to leave.I dont reccomend anyone waste their time or money going to this dump. read more

I checked out this bar on a Saturday night thinking it may be a pretty cool place to checkout.According to the commercials on t.v about the place,it sounded like it would be a good mix of people and some good looking ladies to boot.Upon arriving and looking around that wasn't the case.Most of the customers appeared to be residents from a local retirement home.The handful of ladies that were there were not just unatractive but downright scary looking.Since I was already there and was expecting some friends to joing me in a little while,I ordered a drink and made the best of it while I waited.About 15 minutes after my arrival,the two lady friends I invited had arrived and looked pretty distraught as they walked up to my table.I asked one of them what was wrong and she proceeded to inform me about being approached outside by some shady looking characters standing by the entrance.My friends told me that they were immediately approached by some guys asking if they were interested in buying some drugs.When they declined,One guy stepped in front of them and asked if they were alone.After hearing what had happened to them,I asked to speak to the manager.The gentlman that said it was him seemed to be annoyed by my complaint.He said my friends should be less uptight and afterall,this was a bar and things like this happen.Needless to say we left right away.I wouldn't advise anyone to go to this place for safety reasons that management not only knows about but doesn't seem to care. read more
