We moved to Elk Grove from the Bay Area and I was dreading trying to find someone here to do my makeup because I had a great makeup girl in the Bay. Janel is amazing! She was patient with me and answered all my questions thoroughly in the booking process. Once she arrived in my home, she greeted us warmly, was very professional with her work and sweet to my kids who were eating breakfast at the dining table when she arrived (she was doing my makeup and hair for our winter family photos). It took her about 5-10 mins to set up and she had her own chair for me and a full beautiful setup with all her makeup/etc. I can't say enough great things about Janel. I showed her a photo of the makeup I liked from a gallery on her Facebook page and she executed it perfectly on me. As a SAHM and Sub Teacher, the only makeup I do on a daily basis is a little foundation and my brows so my annual "makeover" for family pics is my special treat. I came by to get my make up done at 6 in the morning before heading to The Falls Event Center to coordinate a wedding. Oh my goodness, I love that she was so awake and happy while greeting me at the door! Her studio is not only clean but very inviting. She offered donuts, coffee and tea before beginning. Sadly I didn't get a chance to try some because I was already in a rush. Onto the make up portion of this review. All her make up was out and organized. Everything she used was so clean compared to what I've seen with other make up artists. I am not so fond of sitting still for so long, but I actually didn't mind at all. I was really relaxed while sitting in her make up chair. She also used a ring light which I'm guessing helps with making sure everything was evenly blended. Booking with her was easy; I was able to e-mail her to schedule an appointment, but I believe you can text or call her as well. Her website was extremely informative!!! Just make sure to schedule in advance since she gets booked up quickly. She can do her services on-location or at her "Glam Studio." I went to her Glam Studio, and it was very clean, open, and well-lit. I'm a total makeup newbie, so Janel was great at explaining what she was doing. She let me watch her apply my makeup and even gave me a mini tutorial on contouring. So the experience was not only fun, it was a good lesson as well for myself :) Also, I have to say that she put false eyelashes on me for the first time ever! I loved working with Janel! Had a bridal trial today and it went sooo well! All my friends and sisters are raving about how perfect she did my face. My face has some things that make it more difficult (deep set eyes, a few small bumps on one eye lid, eyelashes that are long but stick straight and blonde, really fair skin with no yellow undertones so it's hard to shade match and not overwhelm with blush) and she handled it easily. You can really tell she's a perfectionist and that she wants to make sure you get exactly what you want. I didn't super clearly explain my vision to her but she still nailed it. My eyes are hazel and they usually look muddy and brown but the makeup made them pop crazy green. I'm so happy. I've taken a zillion pics in lots of different lighting and I still love it.
