In short it's average service for quite a lot of money. There are a lot of better hair salons in that area! My experience was usually positive or well average, however one time it was really poor. My hair stylist had told me that my hair began to discolor from the chlorine in the pools and that she would offer to correct the color for around $40, she ended up dying my hair pitch black (I have medium brown hair) and it cost over $100! read more

Lea has been coloring my hair for a couple of years and I couldn't be happier. She has done my base color and has added some beautiful highlights. She consults with me before every color application just to make sure the color is still working for me. She is knowledgeable and does a beautiful job. I get compliments all the time. Great place to get a haircut! The staff there are all friendly and professional. The best part is that they cut both male and female hair, so it a great convenience for couples. I have been a customer at Glam for many years and can honestly say that I left again thrilled with my color (went red this time!!) and cut. Denni took the time to go over the various options of color that would be best for my complexion and she was spot on. For years prior to finding Glam I would leave a salon feeling that my concerns were not addressed. That isn't the case here. I'm probably a hairdressers nightmare because I am constantly deciding to go longer or shorter so my cuts are not always the same. Denni actually asks from visit to visit, as my hair grows, how I liked the way it looked and felt along with the ease of care. And she tweaks where necessary. My daughters also love Glam. When coming home from school they always make sure their appointments are booked with Carol or Amber, both are great with long hair and up dos for special occasions. My girls always leave happy. Along with the actual coloring and cutting process I have always been directed to products that would be best for styling and longevity of the color. The best I think Glam has for my color treated, wavy hair is Redken's Curvaceous products. They are sulfate free and keep my color vibrant much longer! I feel that a good indicator of a good salon is the low turnover rate in stylists...and if I'm accurate then Glam is a GREAT salon. Many have come, even as apprentices, but I cannot remember even one stylist leaving since i've been with them for over 10 years. Above all the entire staff at Glam is welcoming. I went to Glam Hair Studio as a new client after reading positive reviews online and talking to the receptionist. My appointment was set with a Redkin Educator and experienced stylist, Mel. I wanted to change my medium brown hair to a violet red and was quoted $55 to do so. I left the shop wet with the recommended Pureology shampoo and conditioner and a bill of $165 ($45 of this was the shampoo & conditioner & the other $20 was tip). I was advised that because of the length of my hair more color was needed to complete the service - I am completely fine with paying for what I use, but it would have been helpful to know there was an additional $45 for the extra color before checkout. I blew my hair out when I got home which is when I noticed my roots were a different color than my ends. The following day I came back to the shop and Mel explained that there was not enough of the violet red color to color all of my hair so she tried to formulate another color to match it and blend the two together but said she knew I'd be back because you can't formulate the violet red. She corrected the color and made it all look one color - she advised that I wouldn't need to come back for 6 to 8 weeks. Since my first appointment, I've religiously used the Pureology products (after all, I did pay $45 for them!) and have noticed the color has faded DRAMATICALLY in just two weeks. I emailed the owners stating the situation and the manager Sandy kindly and quickly contacted me to correct the situation. We agreed on a refund for the cost of the color service as I did not want to color it for a third time in two weeks even though she did offer for the color to be corrected at no charge. Looking back I wish the stylist had been up front from the beginning with regards to cost and running out of color - I'd have been much more understanding and likely still a Glam client. read more

I live in Philadelphia and make the 45 min drive to get my cut and color done at Glam! I've had my hair done by both Lea and Katie. Both stylists gave me a precise cut & shiny, natural-looking color. My hair is naturally brown - on my last visit I wanted to get color to mimic the sun-kissed caramel highlights provided by the sun every summer. The highlights and gloss I received looked so natural and vibrant! I typically keep my hair long & the stylists are great at making small changes to freshen up my look by adding layers or a side swept bang I've gone there so many times over the years that I've even met the owners. They are so friendly and really take pride in their staff. Glam is the best in the burbs (& worth a trip from Philly) ! read more

I started going to Glam about 4 or 5 years ago. It's close to my house but I hadn't noticed it because it's tucked next to the Starbuck's in Springhouse and it's easy to miss. I go primarily for hair but I have gotten my nails done and I get my eyebrows waxed there. They do a single and highlights...(I've been a faux blond since I was about 13 years old---I'm 40 now) They also do blowouts for me, which I love. Sometimes they use a curling iron (if I ask and I love the way it looks. All of the stylists and staff are super nice. Their prices are extremely reasonable and I've honestly never had a bad experience there. They are very hospitable and offer coffee, tea, etc. I've usually go to Lea but I've also gone to Amber Anne and Ana.....my Mom goes to Carol and Katie. I've never heard anything negative about any of the stylists......all of the ones that have helped me have been great. The employees come off as a big family, no competitiveness, and really make Glam a warm and welcoming place to be. I'm confident recommending Glam to everyone. :) read more

I've been a client of Glam Hair Studio for about 3 years after moving back to the area from Princeton, NJ. I wanted someone who was a Redken specialist, so they could match the color I was getting from my stylist in Princeton. I had my first appointment with Erika, who I loved immediately and have continued to see, even after moving slightly further away. Erika does great color and cuts. She listens to what you want, while making suggestions for your type of hair & lets you know if it won't give you the result you are looking for. All the stylists are friendly and helpful...making sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. I love the coffee/wine bar with the iPads you can use while waiting for your hair color to process. It's a much nicer, hip way of passing the time, rather than reading a magazine. I see Lea for color and Jeff for my cuts. Lea understands color like no other stylist I have ever been to, she just gets it. Her technique for highlights and sombre/ombre is spot on. I can't rave about her enough. Jeffrey gives the best cuts imaginable. He can look at you, assess your face shape and know what you need. Both of them are open to feed back so it becomes a collaborative experience and I always leave happy and feeling pampered. The whole staff is a pleasure. The only downside is the prices can be a little high but as they say, you get what you pay for. I won't go to another salon as long as I live in Philadelphia. read more
