I've been coming to Glamour Nails & Spa regularly for nail removal, and usually I have a great experience--staff is quick, efficient, and kind. Unfortunately, today was very different. I had a new nail tech, and the process was uncomfortable. The drill repeatedly burned my finger and nail, and even after I mentioned it, it continued. When she said she was done, there was still quite a bit of acrylic left on my nails. When I pointed it out, she seemed frustrated and roughly filed my nails, then said she was finished. My nails were left dusty and unfinished, and I was also charged $5 more than I'm usually charged for the same service. I'll likely still come back because my past experiences have been positive, but I hope consistency in service improves. Just want others to be aware that experiences may vary. read more

really upset I walked in asking for a fill and he told me the guy to do it would be in 5 mins and here I am getting a pedicure which I didn't want 30 mins later and no one doing my nails. and the tech for the pedicure put no soap or anything on the yellow scrub and scratched my skin open. I went on a Sunday with my 3 girls ages 8,6,&4. We all got manicures and I also got a quick pedicure since I chipped my most recent one. I called only 30 minutes before my appointment to make my appointment. They had availability for all of us and wow they did an amazing job too!! There were only 3 people working Jenny, kimmie, and Quintin. Jenny did my manicure Quintin and Kimmie tag teamed all 3 of my girls nails. And Kimmie did my pedicure. If I lived here this salon would be my go to salon! There was an old lady that came in and she was super grumpy because she got to her appointment late and we were there already. Pretty basic salon, not much of any ambiance. I get pedicures here from time to time, average and quick service. On my last visit, the lady kept asking me if i want to upgrade for more pricier option and i kept telling her "no thanks", which made me a bit uncomfortable. Pedicure starts at $28. I arrived around 6pm, the door was locked but the employees rushed to the door and opened for me to come in. I did a set on myself and came to them for a removal. I've NEVER experienced this kind of delicate care for a gel removal. At first she gently removed the color and when it wouldn't come off she filed down the extra product I had and gave me a manicure. I always have a good experience at this nail salon. I don't frequent it often cause it's a little bit of a hike from Cardiff but you can't go wrong here. I usually always get a plain mani and they just do it right! Huge selection of polish. And they are clean! This is really I have found to be one of the best nail salons in the solana beach, Del Mar and encinitas area. They have very good customer service. I have always felt that they treated me well and respected my time. So many nail salons in the area treat you like a number and expect you to wait an hour on a pre arranged appointment. They do not do that ever! I appreciate that. Kim is always very nice and a good manager. The pricing is a bit more than other places in the area, but it is worth it to me to have good customer service. Some nail techs are better than others. I just had an acrylic gel fill with Linda and she did a good job. She actually took the time to do a base coat and top coat and many nail techs want to bypass it. As far as nail art, longevity of the nails if getting acrylic etc....it depends on your nail tech. Overall I really like the people working there in general- but like I said it depends on the nail tech. Kim does a good job with customer service and so do many of the nail techs. read more

Dishonest, unclean. They did not honor my choice of manicurist. Shuffled me to three different ones in a 40 min time period. I have been a customer over 15 years Because of their poor care, I developed fungus. I asked that they clean in alcohol and before I knew it a tip and alot of glue was used over the spot. She then went to another customer and didn't wash her hands. I left with my nails unfinished disgusted. I don't use tips. read more

I got a set of gel nails last summer and they were gorgeous! Exactly what I wanted. All the of the staff is super nice and attentive. Last time I came in, my nails were looking really rough and they fixed my nails perfectly and gave me a fresh manicure! The prices are super reasonable for how good of a job they do. My favorite salon! All of the workers are super friendly and work super hard! They make sure to get an appointment for every person who walks in the door. Stacy is incredible at what she does! I see her every two weeks and knows exactly what I like! Today I made a mistake by scheduling work an hour after my nail appointment and was worried I was going to be late to work. Wow. My mom and I were 15 minutes early, no big deal, we knew we'd need to wait and thought we'd check in and walk around a bit. The problem was that when we checked in, they chastised us and told us, "you sit outside on that bench!" "No, that's cool, we'll walk around and come back," I said. We came back at our appointment time (2pm) and still had to wait. They are just now beginning my mom's pedicure at 2:25. They filled the tubs with freezing cold water then were irritated when we asked if it could be warmed up. We weren't offered a choice of services Maybe they were just having a bad day or something, but this the worst pedicure experience I have ever had. read more

Obsessed with my nails! I came in without an appointment on a Monday afternoon for a gel manicure and pedicure. The salon is clean and serene. This was probably the most relaxing manicure/pedicure I've ever had between the friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. I showed kimmie a picture from Pinterest of a style I liked and she used that as inspiration to freehand a design. She is very creative and quick! She was cutting my toes too short and my skin down to where I bled. Not upfront with prices/services. I came in with a fresh manicure from a few days back but no polish. I only wanted dip polish put on. I called before to make sure that was okay. At the end when it was time to pay, she then decided to tell me it's the same price as the full manicure, but without offering the full service. If I'm going to pay $50 regardless then I'd like the full treatment. She also said if I would have done gel they would have treated it as a polish change price. Why not tell me all this on the phone or before it was time to pay? So frustrating. read more

This place is awful. Spend your money elsewhere. I'm not normally disappointed with an hour of pampering, but this place is the worse nail place I've ever been to. I came here around 6:15pm on a Tuesday for a Mani/Pedi. They close at 7pm, so I thought there was a chance they'd only have time for one service, but they took me for both and did them at the same time. The manicure was terrible. It took about 10 minutes, and the paint job looks like it was done in 30 seconds (see photo of shoddy job). I left with a hangnail, half of my nails only had 70% of the top coat on them, and a line across them from where it was left off. By the evening 2 of my nails had already chipped. The pedi was better, but still not what I've experienced at other nail salons. The water was too hot, and she never asked what temperature I liked. The baths are lined with loose plastic and the jets go over your feet, so are basically pointless. I had to operate the massage chair myself to scoot up so my feet would reach the end of the tub. All things that are usually done for me at other places. I left at 6:47pm with the lady taking the last towels away from me so she could through them in the laundry. Look, I get that you close at 7pm, but if you have customers in the salon, you should treat them as though they just paid you to be there - because they did. read more

Bad gel manicure. The girl didn't clean the edges so there is polish on the tips of my fingers and on the side of my nails. There's a weird line on two of my nails where I think she messed up and tried covering it up with another layer of polish. At the end, she realized she didn't clean the extra polish from where it got on the side of my finger so she tried filing it down but ended up slicing my finger open...by filing. Last; when she was waiting for the top coat to dry she started "cleaning" up here station, but just put the dirty tools she used on me into a clean bag (that she sealed shut) without sterilizing them. She was a younger girl so not sure if she just got out of school or just got hired but wouldn't come back because of her and plan on sending in a complaint to the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Made an appointment last minute and was in on time. Not greeted right away but eventually acknowledged. My gel manicure was great! I was disappointed they couldn't do simple designs (lines, chevron stripes, an anchor) with gel for my daughter (9 years old, larger nail beds- she gets designs, sometimes elaborate, at other salons.). They speak to each other in what I assume is Vietnamese and laugh allot. It's pretty obvious who they are talking about. I can only imagine if we do the same how we would be treated!!!
