Check-in was a ghost town--no one around, had to hunt down someone who looked annoyed we existed. Room felt like a dusty antique store explosion: creaky floors that groaned like they were dying every time you moved, poor lighting so dim you could barely see your own feet, and lightbulbs that were straight-up burned out. Bed was okay if you like lumpy mattresses from the 1800s, but the pillows were flat as pancakes and smelled faintly of old attic. Breakfast? More like a sad self-serve disaster. Tables were dirty, no utensils half the time, trash overflowing, and the "continental" spread was basically stale muffins, watery coffee that tasted like regret, and some sad fruit that had seen better days. No host interaction, no warm vibes--just grab-and-go neglect. The whole place had this weird abandoned energy. No real hospitality, plumbing sounded like a freight train every time someone flushed, and the "quaint" antiques just made everything feel grimy and neglected. Paid way too much for a night of discomfort and disappointment. Zero charm, zero comfort, zero reason to ever come back. It just sucked. Hard. Avoid unless you enjoy paying for regret. 0/10, would rather sleep in the car.

It had been hot all week. 105+ and my two prior lodging choices that advertised AC and WiFi, both failed to deliver AC or WiFi or allow canceling a non-cancelable resv. I arrived without a firm resv, but booking.com said they had one room available. In the lobby is a sign directing guests to call a phone number. No answer. There is another sign with a different number. No answer. There is a button on the wall to summon help. No help arrived. I found my way to the adjacent restaurant. Servers directed me to the bartender. No clue if a room was available. No idea if the rooms had AC. They have window AC units that hat work just fine. No idea if the room had a private or shared bath. Room 4 has a private bath. The only way to book and check-in while standing in the lobby is booking.com. I booked one night. It was then I discovered that the door to room #4 would not close. Further inspection revealed that the strike plate was not (mortised) flush into the door frame. Examining the door, it became apparent that the door could be forced closed, but only if I really put my shoulder in to it. The room and bath were clean and spacious. The stairway is a tad narrow, but that is hardly unexpected for vintage buildings. The restaurant staff is friendly, but uninformed about the lodging operation. The towels were thin and coarse, not plush. They reminded me of the earlier Days Inn stay that was a 0-star experience. I ordered nachos from the bar. Nothing special. Think gas station nachos. The bartender is friendly and makes a damn fine margarita. On-street parking only. Breakfast was not available, so off to the market. Would I return? Maybe.

The communal area is also very well done with seating perfect for sunsets with a cocktail or nice bottle of wine, and some very delicious food. The dipping pools, firepits are also a very nice touch. The food throughout was amazing, breakfast lunch and dinner as well as some smore's! The test we had was overall a very good size with a comfy bed, fireplace and full bathroom. The only issue was that our tent was a little older, or at least the canvas was and it seemed to trap cold air in. The first night was a bit tough to sleep through but the second night we were able to get the fireplace going to keep heat throughout the tent. All in all, I would recommend anyone try it at least once, PLUS dog friendly!!

Ulum advertises as a wellness retreat, but the only complimentary wellness offerings are three small pools and occasional yoga classes. During our stay, the pools and common areas were overrun with screaming children, which made them far from relaxing. I would advise Ulum Moab to either lean into being family friendly and offer more child friendly activities, a kids menu, and add a larger pool or lean into wellness and pose age limits on child guests and add a sauna and steam room. If no changes are made, this resort is simply not worth the price.

The park was relatively quiet other than the truck traffic all day and night. In the daytime, it's cool, but at night the semi-trucks climbing the south bound grade is a bit rough, luckily, I have some mellow music I've been sleeping fine to that helps block the noise. The rates are swell too, a whole week was less than 3 bills, and I left my stuff sitting unlocked with the keys in it while I ventured off every day on my dirt bike. Very nice showers, super clean and only a stone's throw away from my spot. Some dog noise here and there, I'm not a fan of barky dogs, some people might not mind. I'll be back next year

The housekeeper did provide a replacement howeve, She also seemed annoyed that I brought the issue to her attention. The toilet was dirty, and there was no soap provided in the bathroom. Fortunately, I had my own so I didn't have to ask that rude housekeeper for anything else. Overall, the room did not meet basic cleanliness standards, and the response to my concerns by housekeeping was absolutely disappointing. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this motel to others.
