I looked up the instructor online - Gabrielle Graber - and was so impressed with her work it made me a bit nervous that the class was going to be above my head. Gabe was terrific - she was able to break down the process into very achieveable segments. I made a couple of small pieces, then a life-size foot. If someone told me last week that I would make a realistic looking body part from clay as a result of this class, I would have told them they were nuts. But I did - I'm usually overly critical of my own work, but I was very happy with what I was able to accomplish. This workshop absolutely exceeded my expectations. Additionally, the staff was friendly, the sleeping rooms were spotless, and I really enjoyed getting to know Gabe. Pocosin runs workshops in all kinds of media - clay, painting, metalwork, etc. If you are looking for a creative outlet and/or a fun weekend away, go to Pocosin!

They know how to do it, and they bring in very worth while instructors, who I've learned a lot from. Cabin Fever is one of my favorite weekends of the year when I get to attend. The space is intimate but thoughtful, and the curation feels fresh and intentional. Andrew (who worked there) was excellent -- welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the work on display. Definitely a nice surprise and well worth a stop if you're in the area.

I know a lot of ladies who live in Mathews and have a great time taking one or two classes here. It's a great way to meet folks in Mathews. It's led to my mom's year or so long obsession with making "toothbrush rugs" which are not made OF toothbrushes, but with a needle-thing that looks kinda like a toothbrush. Great little place, I would totally recommend it. How awesomely fun would it be to come to Mathews for a summer and take a class here in between visiting the shops/restaurants and going to the beach?!
