I bought this class as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and we both really enjoyed it. Brian was really knowledgeable about glass blowing, sharing it's origin and history. He made sure we each had time to make 2 pieces (5 people in a 2 hour class) and was patient with us as we learned. Picked up the pieces today and they look great! Severe lack of communication, follow-up and professionalism. I'm really sad about this as I usually prefer to support local businesses or artists when I have the opportunity. I purchased a class via glasshouse.ws on 9/12. I received no class gift certificate and zero communication until 9/26 after emailing Glass House Studio twice. Bryan apologized and said he had been very busy, so everything seemed to work out and I received some options on time frame of when I could schedule class for the next month. After a bit of phone/email tag, we connected and on 10/4 we scheduled class for 10/23. I was asked to call and confirm the week before to make sure that time was still good, as Bryan said he had been very busy. No big deal, happy to do that. I called to confirm class on 10/17, and left a voicemail. I hadn't heard back on 10/18 so called again and sent a text asking to confirm class on 10/23. By the night of 10/19 I hadn't heard anything. Feeling a little uncomfortable with the lack of communication, and not wanting to drive to Hermosa Beach to potentially be turned away, I asked for a refund via email. On 10/20 I called and received no response, but texted to ask for a refund and got a reply. I was told that the situation was "ridiculous" and I would receive a refund minus a $50 scheduling fee. One week later on 10/27 I had not received the refund, so I reached out to ask for an update. I received a refund minus $50. The glasshouse.ws website makes no mention of a fee, and I'm not sure why I'm the one losing $50 considering the difficulty of working with this business. Glasshouse.ws outlines their refund policy in detail, even differentiating products vs classes, with no mention of a $50 fee. Verbatim from glasshouse.ws: "There are no refunds provided for products. The "product" are items for sale on website. The "courses"  are classes offered by Glass House Studio.  Class gift receipts require at least two week prior scheduling to redeem.  Items shipped that arrive broken require return of product to exchange for equal value.  The purchaser is responsible for return delivery.  After sixty days of purchase of classes no refunds are accepted.  Classes can sometimes and without notice be shortened and or rescheduled.  We will make every effort to accommodate the loss of value by offering an additional date. All quotes or bids on products require a deposit to begin working.  This deposit is always non refundable." read more

Instructor doesn't have much respect and quite unprofessional. During our session, we ran out of time, so only one group finished what we were supposed to make, he just said "too bad" to the other groups when we ran out of time or when he breaks the pieces. Afterwards, we arranged with him trying to pick the pieces that survived, but he was very poor at communication. When we finally arranged a day to drive an hour out to retrieve our pieces, he told me he lost them on the spot, then impatiently told me "are you gonna be mad or just grab some other's stuff over there and move on, what else do you want me to do?" ... There's no "zero stars" to enter, so I had to go with one star. Run - don't walk, away from this business. Bryan was condescending, unprofessional and a whiner. I rec'd a class as a gift; when the website failed to show I'd booked a class, I phoned him. Not only is he hard to reach, but when you finally do, he's clearly got issues of some sort. He was so scary on the phone that I called the gift giver and told them I didn't feel comfortable going to this class, at which point we got our money refunded by Groupon. I hope Groupon drops him and doesn't allow him to subject others to his temperment. Whatever it is, I'm sure there are better places or artistic environments to go to. Class was Sunday 1/12/20. 8a-10a Originally scheduled through Course Horse LA. First impression: I really liked Bryan's cool, funky little work shop. Examples of glass work and other projects all around. After asking my preferences, Bryan provided a hands on approach -which I really appreciated in this case, as this was my first lesson in Hot Glass. Working in his self-built kiln (Glory Hole), this type of glass work requires constant movement of the pipe to prevent the molten glass from distorting. He shows how to properly handle and replace tools while working with them. Again, I needed the 'guided tour' for applying proper pressure and positioning. During the 2 hours class, he helped me complete 3 projects that will spend a few days cooling in the Annealer (a large oven). And there was enough time left for Bryan to show me and his next class, how to make a blown glass cup. My only issue is that I have a very old back injury that sometimes causes physical restrictions. Hot Glass requires constant movement and consistent physical strength. I will definitely take another class with Bryan to see if I am able to keep up with this type of glass work or stick with Warm Glass kiln work or Lampwork. read more

I purchased a gift certificate for two ($190) for a glass blowing class last December as a Christmas gift. Bryan (owner) said he couldn't book a class until February, so we waited. In February, I contacted him and asked when we could book the class. (After a few unreturned emails that he said was due to him being out of the country) he finally gave a couple of dates as options in April. My friend chose a date and he never responded to confirm. I asked a second time for confirmation of that date and again no response. Then the date passed with no response to my further inquiry. So finally I emailed and just asked for a full refund because this is getting beyond ridiculous (it's been 5 months since I bought the certificate). NO RESPONSE. My friend was Cc'd on most correspondence and he didn't email her either. I can't get through to the guy. I'm so disappointed. Now I will have to go through the hassle of taking him to small claims court because he won't correspond to set up a class date and basically just kept my money. It's ridiculous. First I'm a huge fan of class blowing and I got a class with Bryan as a gift for Christmas. I was so excited to get started. From the moment we arrived it was so fun. Bryan was such a hands on teacher. I even made a few mistakes and he helped me work through my nerves. My guest and I was so busy learning and exploring that the time flew by. I would recommend Bryan to anyone that has a love for glass blowing and a understanding atmosphere. read more

My friend and I had an amazing time in Bryan's glass blowing class! First off, he had to reschedule the class so he told her to bring a friend the next day at no extra cost, which I thought was very generous. He didn't have to do that at all. Since it was just the two of us we were both able to get hands on experience. We made a few different pieces, even a surf board! Because he rescheduled he even gave us extra time to work with him. He is very knowledgeable, an excellent teacher and a totally chill dude. We were all having so much fun just talking and learning. He helped create an awesome Sunday for both of us and we hope to go back again soon! read more

I had the BEST time at glass blowing class. It was such a unique and fun experience. The classes are very small so you get a lot of one on one instruction. Everyone even gets to walk away with a glass object that they made themselves! (What you get depends on your skill level) It was overall a great experience and I can't wait to go back for class #2! read more

Corrections about the comment posted by Bryan on 5/4/17. 1) Email was sent at 6pm the night before the class that I scheduled with him on February 25th. We rescheduled the class for the 5th of March at 2pm. 2) "no mention of a special event with a friend" - this is not true. The voucher that I purchased clearly states on the Glass House website "private class with you AND a friend". 3) I was not present on the morning of March 5th because our class was scheduled for 2 PM. I reminded Bryan of that agreed-upon time when we spoke at 11:09am. 4) I asked for the refund that Bryan OFFERED me on February 24th. However, because he would not honor the refund, I kept the credit for the 2 hour class. 5) The two girls that used my 2 hour credit had a great class with Bryan. He then decided to withhold glass pieces that were included as part of the paid-for class because of my yelp review. I have all of the email correspondence that shows these facts. Bryan, I will send them to you if needed. Please do not continue this back and forth trying to make the situation appear different than it was.
