The owner's dog is also super sweet. I painted a pottery, didn't make it from scratch but picked the unpainted one from the shelf and paint it. They have special colors that can make very pretty texture and requires no skill whatsoever. It's very relaxing and fun. They'll fire it for you in 1-2 weeks, then send a text for pick-up. It's a long drive from me but the pottery I got is really worth it!

He can be difficult and temperamental but she's been incredibly kind and patient with him. He loves her and her class and the fact that he keeps going back every Saturday for an 1.5 hrs away from his video games is testament to this place. Everyone I've spoken to there has been super nice and helpful, even if we'd had to reschedule a class at the last minute. I must note that my son did not love his first teacher and class, like I said, he can be difficult, but the director was incredibly patient and considerate and after listening to our feedback, switched him to a different class and teacher, which was much better suited for him and he's been loving it ever since. This is just to say, even if the first class doesn't work, you might give it another chance and try a different one. Highly recommend this place!

Rafael has opened her eyes to the beauty in details around her and created a space where she is free to explore different materials and methods. While she has produced creations from impressive macro photography images to mural-sized abstract paintings (no one believes the one hanging in our home was done by an 8 year old), the process of centering herself and tapping into her creative flow is the true gift of this program. I contacted the owners, Terri and Sarah, and they were so incredibly gracious! They invited me over to check out the space. I really like the layout of this art studio because it's divided into different sections/rooms. One room would be where the kids do their sketching, and then another room is where the kids would take their sketching to go paint. The third room is where you can put all the food for your party and they have an awesome patio area that's right next to the food room where parents can also hang out while the kids can sketch and paint for the instructor in the other rooms. There were 19 kids total and it was so nice not to have the parents stand behind their kiddos the entire time to watch them paint because there's no where to go!! All of the parents told me they had NO IDEA this place existed. Because it's on Artesia , which is quite a busy street that people take to get from one place to the next it's really not the kind of place that people stroll around on. SBAD focus on a different topic/theme each day so the children have plenty of time to be creative and really think about what they would like to make. When I first started surfing, I attempted to teach myself through youtube but boy was I wrong. I was never able to stand up or read which waves were good to catch. And not only that, but my stance and position on the board was all wrong. Kawika helped me to not look like a fool while surfing haha He is the most welcoming and encouraging person i've ever met. He's FANTASTIC with any age! From 4 years old to 74 years old, he can get anyone up and surfing in one hour. I was able to stand up on my first try and out of about 40 waves (that he helps you catch) I only fell twice! Talk about improvement. It was SO fun, I scheduled another lesson the next day and learned even more. It really is a blessin to get a lesson haha!
