Such a fun day! Eric, Briana, and Nat were great instructors. They made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the day and come out of it with a usable, beautiful cutting board. I have a new appreciation for how much is involved in making a cutting board. An added benefit (and a highlight for me) was hanging with the dogs of LA Woodshop. All friendly, well-behaved, and absolutely adorable.

Great experience learning how to use all the different machines in the intro class. Jim, Kim & Cam were great instructors. Good selection of classes as well.

Wonderful environment. My partner and I took a 2 day class where we built picture frames. Worth every penny. There was clear instructions and safety guidance at every step. The team is kind and wants to make sure you have a fun time! 10/10 would do it again.

I took the Intro to woodworking class this past weekend and loved it! The instructors were patient, knowledgeable, and funny; they created a great vibe. Each step built confidence, and even though I was terrified of using the table saw, I am happy to say that I still have all my fingers and toes. Great experience overall; would definitely recommend if you want to learn a new skill or just have fun.

I completed the Intro Class at LA Woodshop today. The whole team is really awesome, supportive, and patient. My cutting board came out great - I couldn't be more proud. I'll be continuing their series of classes with Intro to Furniture Making next. I couldn't recommend them more if you're a beginner wanting to get your toes wet. If you're concerned about COVID safety, they are good on masks / sanitizer / distancing!

Wow I'm so obsessed! I just took the "Intro to Woodworking" class today and I didn't expect to have such an amazing time! They had 3 instructors for our group of 10. Brianna, Todd & Nat were all incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I learned so much today during the class and felt comfortable the entire process from start to finish of making my wooden cutting board. I'm so proud of the board I made and I can't wait to come back and try other classes they have!!

    Intro class: Walnut cutting board

Took the Intro class today and am delighted with both my experience and the results of my project. The class vibe is calm, supportive and not intimidating. I left feeling like I learned a lot and proud of the work I'd done. I got the same sense from other students. I'm an exceptionally petite female. Tools and machines are not made with my tiny hands, reach or height in mind. Instructors took the time to give personal guidance on every machine that needed me to modify a stance/technique or strategy. (They offered alternative machines at different heights too. They backed my preference to learn how to adapt to larger gear so I won't have to ask for special accommodations anywhere else. I appreciated that they understood that and met it with an attitude of "Yes! Let's do this!") If you're interested in woodworking, their intro class is a great first day in the shop.

I was hesitant in taking the intro class, mostly because I'm not super comfortable in group settings... BUT... the gang here at LA Woodshop made the whole experience very kick-ass. All 3 instructors were super informative and very approachable. We got great info, worked on some rad machines, and even got to craft our very own cutting board. I called mine Walter because he was made of Walnut and he came out wonderfully! Thanks to the team here... I'm going to try to make it back. Highly recommend this spot.

I took the intro to woodworking class this past weekend because I've always suspected I'd like woodworking, but never had an opportunity to try it. The class was everything I hoped for and more. You know some people can "do" something, but can't teach it? Well, that didn't happen here. Owner Erik and instructor Scarlett are both born educators, as well as extremely knowledgeable and talented workers. Everything was clearly explained and demonstrated and the hands-on experience (including dry runs for safety) was perfect. They each had a great sense of humor and the rest of the students were fun and friendly as well. I came away with a beautiful charcuterie board and a renewed sense of excitement for living in a city where middle-aged woman can wander into a professional woodshop and feel at home. Take the class; you won't regret it

A perfect start to learning woodworking, every instructor with good patience was very kind, really find so much fun from this 7 hr class, can't wait to join the next advance class ASAP.

I had an AMAZING time at LA Woodshop. I decided to build a coffee table for myself and I realized that I had some of the things and experience I needed, but not all of it, so I reached out to Eric at LA Woodshop to see if they could help me out. I ended up booking a few hours of private instruction so that I could learn to joint and plane the wood I bought. Eric was great about explaining what I needed before I came in and working with me based on the specifics of my project. When I got there, we got right into the work and Eric turned out to be a fantastic instructor as well. Patient, thorough, and he made me feel welcome in a world I'm not used to being it. I learned a TON and made huge progress on my coffee table project. If you're looking to work on a specific project, to learn a new woodworking skill, or even just to try out woodworking, I'd recommend this shop. I absolutely plan to go back when my next need arises and I can't wait.

I've taken three classes so far at LA Woodshop and each has been an amazing experience. The shop teachers/members are all incredibly talented artisans, artists, craftspeople and woodworkers and their collective combined knowledge is awe-inspiring. The teaching style is one of bringing anyone who is interested into the craft of woodworking, using safe and correct techniques that allow you to produce astonishing results even as a novice. The shop is massive and stocked with fine hand tools, large-scale industrial/pro machinery, and everything you need to bring your project to life. No previous knowledge is needed or presumed. All instructors are approachable, open and fun. I have experienced classes at other community shops and the experience compared to LA Woodshop is honestly lacking. I can't believe how much I've learned in such a relatively short period of time, all thanks to the hands-on instruction that starts with the first cutting board intro class and carried through to much more challenging experiences, such as table-making and dovetail hand joinery. Come practice a craft passed down for generations and get in touch with organic materials while you're at it. I love this place!

To add to this, we needed to be buzzed in so we could enter the premise. Once we were inside, the ambiance changed completely and there were a couple of IG worthy spots to take pictures while checking in. We opted for the spinning art experience since my daughter is too young to partake in the more elaborate ones. Originally, we booked for 4 people but one person got sick so we asked if we could transfer the funds for that person for another experience since there are no refunds. Luckily, was able to contact them the day before and added the bunny paint pour over experience. Ozzie was our guide and he was super kind and gentle with my daughter. We were instructed to pick 5 colors and then we donned our plastic bootie covers, apron and gloves. We entered our designated art room and was blown away by all the colors on the wall. There was even a tire swing which my daughter was all about. The spinning art experience was a lot of fun and I enjoyed seeing my daughter embrace the paint. I think her favorite part was when she had free rein to paint all over the walls. Overall, we had a great time. Only down side is that it does go by super quick and is quite an expensive experience for one hour. However, we get to have a treasured memento which is ready for pick up about 5 days afterwards and we did have a great time. That being said, #noragrats!

There is an adorable shop up front of perfectly curated fabrics, sewing accessories, projects, and small treasures while the mid area of the space opens into a creative shared table area. If you venture past the rainbow quilts all the way to the back you will find a treasure trove of Juki sewing machines, set to host a group of new to advanced sewers along with a large table area in the back for a variety of craft projects. My children are in 1st and 4th grade and enjoyed the 2 part Crochet class. When it was a bit difficult for my younger one, Debbie scaffolded the entire thing and made it possible for her to learn, feel successful, and feel like part of the group. We have also tried the finger knitting blanket class and now my 4th grader can make gorgeous blankets for friends and family. The sewing classes for 8+ are incredible. My eldest has loved going in to learn how to make tote bags, pillow cases, and a variety of other sewing projects. They also have camps, which we are eager to try someday. Most recently we hosted a very special birthday party here and I can share that it was incredible, lovely, and probably the most present I've ever been able to be at one of my kid's birthday parties, considering Debbie took on most of the labor! 11 children made pillows together, along with adorable rainbow keychains and they really had a blast. I was so impressed to see my little one sewing away on the machine with her dad next to her and the older kids jump right in. Many of them made 2-3 little pillows, even though they had never sewn before! Debbie's instruction is clear, easy to follow, and she has a great deal of patience while sharing how to create these masterpieces. It was really nice having mochi ice cream in the middle table area too- Debbie had everything needed for a party in case things were forgotten. The little fridge helped too! It was very reasonably priced and an unforgettable experience for the kids. We hope Meraki will be on this cute corner for many years to come!
