After a disappointing experience with another glass place I am so glad I found glass west! I wanted a piece of tempered rain glass to install in a bathroom. The price was fair and it was ready within a few days. Whelp, I goofed and provided the wrong height so had to order a second piece. My veterinary hospital was broken into on a Sunday morning. I called first thing after I got off the phone with the police since typically with other companies it can take hours to get someone out and this was not how I wanted to spend my day off. They came out right after the police left! I thought they would just do a board up but he had extra glass on hand and replaced my whole window, cleaned up the broken glass on the ground for us and was just the sweetest man! Edit: bottom pushed away from the frame, I contacted the buisness, they sent someone out same day to assess and fix the problem. No hassling, no fingerpointing, just sent pictures, and had someone come straight out. Original: Contacted Monday 6/17 for a broken single pane window. They were the company able to book me the soonest, and offered the best price as well, They came out, today, 6/19 and replaced the window. However after they left and I was able to check the window replaced, there is a finger sized gap between the frame and the window. No caulk, nothing, just air, glass and frame. Caulk is on the outside of the house. But the pane sure wasn't pushed all the way into the frame. read more

Did a fantastic job, cleaned up the job site removed all debris and left the premises in A1 condition as they found it, we did business with glass west long time ago, but we needed new windows. I'm revising my original review to give this company 5 stars. After speaking with the owner he took steps to make this situation right. Mixed experience with this company. Office staff were responsive and helpful. Crew that came out to measure and then a few days later install sidelight window were not very professional. As another reviewer indicated, both on measuring and installation day, they simply left when they finished without any communication. One worker had me pay and sign papers while the one was still installing the window. Didn't have me inspect work, work area, nothing. They just got into their truck and drove off. They behind pieces of shattered glass, other white debris on ground/floor, fingerprints all over window. When I went out to clean prints off glass, I discovered the aluminum flashing around the window was dented in multiple places from aggressive mallet use. After calling a few vendors attempting to get my 11 window screens and slider screen replaced Glass West pulled through. Brian showed up on time. Was professional and immediately got to measuring the windows. The quote was right in the middle of all the quotes I obtained so it seemed fair to me. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was there was a bit of a breakdown in communication. After I accepted the bid and told them I was ready to move on they sent another gentlemen out to make sure the window measurements were 100% correct and then I never heard from them. I was expecting to pay a deposit or be given a time frame. But I never heard back from them until about 1.5-2 weeks when they called to say the window screens were in and they wanted to schedule installation. I was relieved because I thought they had forgotten about me. Brian came back out and installed everything. Again very professional and thorough. Even came back and fixed the sliding screen door that wasnt latching. All in all, I am glad I went with them and am very happy with the new screens. read more

Had a very scary and unfortunate situation of vandalism and needed a same day service to board up our front picture window. Repair guy came out at 5pm - which they consider AFTER HOURS and charged us $550 for a 30 minute job. While I fully expected to pay for a same day expedited service this fee is RIDICULOUS. When I called to ask about this the woman who answered the phone couldn't give me a reason why it was so costly, just that it was there cost for an emergency service. Again, I fully expect an upcharge, but this is ridiculous. Making a horribly scary and emotional day even worse . There are a lot of glass companies our there. DONT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

I had a break in a large single pane on an old rope. The original estimate was very reasonable. It ended up that the window needed to be tempered so there naturally an increase in price. The original installer didn't do a good job. He left the window with chunks of wood missing. The putty to seal the window was put on unevenly and started to fall off as the window popped out. I called Glass West and they got a more experienced person to fix it the next day. Rick did an excellent job: he spent time caulking the window frame, explained what he was doing and educated me on window installation in kind manner, and cleaned up afterwards. I'm happy with the good customer service. They made it easy to get the problem resolved. read more

I have used Glass West on a couple of occasions for table top glass. The first time I went in was for a simple square glass table top that had broken. They were able to knock that out in a couple of days and it was relatively inexpensive. The glass workmanship was flawless and the edges were beveled and nicely polished. The second time I went in, it was for a custom irregular stop sign shaped glass with thicker glass and a smoked color. The price definitely went up. And to be honest, I had a little bit of "sticker shock" for the quote they gave me! When they explained the process, which required the job to be outsourced a specialty vendor, who has a special saw to do the cuts for a pattern cut, I realized the expense and the work involved that they needed to go through to do this job correctly. I went ahead and had them do the work. When I got it back, it was flawless, well polished with a pencil bevel on the edges and fit my custom cherry wood furniture perfectly, that I had custom built in Pakistan when I was in the military....a long long time ago! NOTE: if you do a cut for, other than a square piece, I recommend that you bring in a pattern so this shop, or any other shop that you may use, can do the job right. If you give these guys clear instructions and a pattern, you'll get exactly what you paid for...A nice piece of glass that looks good in your bedroom or living room without any flaws or scratches. After 3 years I finally got around to replacing the cracked window in the kitchen. The previous owner had covered it with some kind of clear tape. Even though we intend to have all the windows replaced at some point, I was sick of looking at it. It looks out on all the bird feeders. Trina loves to watch the humming birds. Due to it's weird design, I was able to remove the window myself. I jumped on the net and found Glass West is here in West Sacramento. Took the window to the shop and they told me it would take about 20 minutes to replace the glass. What? You can do it while I wait?! Wow! Talk about great customer service. While I waited, I had a chance to look around the show room. The thing that impressed me was how many Little League baseball teams Glass West has sponsored over the years. Giving back to the community tells me a lot about the people who run this business. I also got to meet Grandma. Still going strong and sharp as a tack. Nice, friendly people and great service. I feel like i was scammed. Here is my original e-mail: Window is 28X58. It is a slider. It slides left to right. Not up and down. Both sides are cracked. Only the inside piece of glass is cracked. Here is the response from the owner, David Blake: Hi, you are looking at $298.00. Measure Monday install Wednesday. The guy gets here and says it's going to be $320.00. Not that big of a deal, 20 bucks. 2 days later, a different guy comes to install and one of the windows was 1 inch too short. Again, not that big of a deal. Mistakes happen. Next week he brings the correct size out. One guy is at the truck doing the work, the other guy brings the invoice to me and says $521.00 Now it's a BIG DEAL. I feel like the strategy was the fact that my glass wasn't completed so I had to pay. To top it off, my glass is filthy. If there was a contest for dirtiest window, I would win. While they were working, I was in my back office working and I didn't hear any sound coming from my living room... I walked out to see how they were doing... they weren't there, they just left, didn't say anything. So, now I have to get out my ladder, take out the screen and clean my NEW $520.00 window. Unbelievably fast, professional emergency glass repair. When a burglar smashed out the glass in the entry door of our commercial business, we called Glass West on a Sunday and our call was answered by a receptionist - not a machine. What I liked about this company is that they watch your best interest as the property owner and not theirs. Anna and Stephanie whom man the phones are very easy to talk to and engage very well. Someone broke into my restaurant on Monday by smashing in the front door glass. A Sheriff's deputy called me at home and I met him at my business at 9am. At around ten, Anna at Glass West promised a tech would come out by 4pm if not earlier and quoted me a price even before I asked. Lonny called and came out at 2pm. He boarded up the door in a flash and promised to come back with the laminated glass asap. He took away the broken glass. Lonny called the next morning to let me know the glass was ready to install and Anna called to confirm the previously quoted price. Lonny came out with a fellow technician and installed the glass, again in a flash. The second tech wiped the glass clean. You guys truly impressed me with your high energy and professionalism in taking care of my problem. It is 11 am Tuesday and we are back in business as if nothing happened. read more

Unethical way to do business. Took advantage of an emergency opportunity and overcharged too much. I asked their competitors for the price, and they said a rip off. Police did a non-emergency force entry in my home, and had to break the glass door. They charged $350 for a two plywood with 4 screws they put to cover up the broken glass window. For fun, I asked how much to do the job of the broken glass, they quoted me $487. $529 a brand new door in Home Depot. read more

I will give 1 star for the promptness and the professional service technician. They were there when they said they would be, and they got the job done efficiently and properly. My first mistake was not to ask for a proposal BEFORE they made the repair. Shame on me. That will not happen again. Ever. However, when I called to set up the service call, I was told that it would be $110 for the service call and then for parts on top of that. I understood that the $110 covered driving to the house and assessing the needs for the repair. And even fixing it, if it was a quick fix and they had the part on the truck. I was fine with that. Well, they had the parts and made the repair, then the service tech went outside to call the manager, Dave, for the cost. He came back in and told me $188. Um, first off, the service tech took LITERALLY 10 minutes to fix this thing. All he did was install a new handle on a sliding glass door. We've looked at them at Home Depot and they are $25 retail. And that was for a good handle. The service tech didn't install anything special here. AND, I figure if they buy in bulk, they probably have some sort of contractor's discount on their materials. I told the tech I wasn't happy with that pricing, considering the material costs and considering he had been at my house all of 15-20 minutes by this point. He called his shop back and Dave wasn't available. I could hear the woman on the other line say, "what do you want?" Nice. He explained what was going on, and within 2 seconds, she says to just give me 10% off. Just like that. So CLEARLY they knew the pricing was outrageous. I was still not happy with $170, but didn't want to put this service tech in the middle of an argument (I could tell he was getting uncomfortable), so I paid it and will never be using them again. Too bad for them too, because I work with many homeowners and contractors in my line of work. I could have sent them business, but I don't choose to do business with those that set out to treat people unfairly. There are much better, more ethical companies out there. read more

So I came home after being gone a few hours. I went into the kitchen and I heard a crackling sound. I though it was just the wind pushing up against my window. I opened my patio door shades and found the remnant of some idiot. Some punk(s) threw a rock from over my backyard fence and managed to take refuge on my glass patio door. The precise trajectory of this idiot amazed me. He could have been an NFL quarterback playing for the Atlanta Falcons...oh wait, never mind, they lost. Kinda like this loser who threw the rock. So after virtually mf'ing this guy, and I hope I unleashed Karma, I go to my trusted source. YELP. I found this glass company and spoke to Dave. He immediately set up an appointment to come measure the glass. It didn't take long, a mere 10 minutes. A day later, Dave called back and set up an install appointment. I told him I was available any time and we decided on a 2-4pm window. Install day. I got a phone call from the company saying they were on their way. Gizmo showed up 15 minutes later. He cleaned up the broken glass and did his thing. The complete install was seamless, just under an hour from the time he arrived. Very professional and he explained what he was doing the entire time. Needless to say, I could have used this money for other important things, but that's a part of home ownership. So if you're ever in a pickle from things beyond your control, such as broken glass...definitely give this place a call. I highly recommend them. read more

I was very disappointed in the way Dave priced his services. Dave gave me an estimate of $187. He mentioned nothing of a discount. When his technicians showed up, the estimate went up to $213. He explained this was because there was a grid in the window that required additional cost. Dave called me the next day informing me that the cost would be $229 because of the grid. I explained that his technician gave me an estimate of $213, which Dave said was the original price. He said there was a 10% discount on the original price and that's where $187 came from, even though there was no mention of a discount at any point prior. In the end, I paid the $229 because I didn't feel like bickering. But the way they do business is quite poor. I understand that it's called an "estimate" for a reason, but slowly ratcheting up the price - twice - is something that has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I can't be sure that Dave was doing anything dishonest, but even he should realize the poorness of this business practice. I will not be using Glass West for any future needs, and I suggest you look elsewhere too. read more
