Judy was wonderful managing our reservation and warmly greeted us when we arrived. I like the concept of boutique hotels but sometimes find they can be too cramped or stuffy, not the Harbor House Inn. It's intimate but rooms are spacious so you feel like you can breathe. The room was absolutely amazing, farmhouse chic with a splash of coastal aesthetic. The soaking tub was to die for! The bed was very comfy. All the staff were friendly. Our room had a partial view of the lake, was a welcome surprise. The hotel is right in the center of town, perfect walking location to the battlefield, shops and eateries. All we wanted was a night away from the little ones but Harbor House Inn delivered a sweet experience. Highly recommend and will definitely return. It was worth the money spent!

What really stood out, though, was the staff. They were genuinely some of the friendliest hotel employees I've come across. They happily shared local dinner and ice cream recommendations and somehow kept smiling while cleaning up waffle batter explosions left behind by a swarm of hungry lacrosse kids in the morning. The fitness center was on the smaller side, but it had everything I needed for a solid workout. Overall, this was a comfortable, convenient stay with exceptional customer service. We arrived Thursday, November around 5:00 p.m. and we were supposed to meet a group for dinner. They had no record of our Expedia reservation and said that our reservation had been cancelled. This was not the case as my husband just changed it to add one day at the beginning and taking off one day at the end. After sitting in the lobby for about thirty minutes they let us check in until everything got ironed out with Expedia. The room was nice and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. A couple of things to know before your stay: there aren't complimentary bottled waters in the room, but the front desk is happy to provide them if you ask. The hotel also doesn't have a late-night market or convenience area for drinks and snacks, which would have been nice. I found this to be extremely disrespectful and felt their business is taking advantage of the money I am provided by the government for temporary housing. Holiday Inn Express??? Comfort Inn??? Ramada??? These hotels should never be above $65 per night and they are asking more than double that! We are in upstate New York! Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful up here. However, I've travelled to over 26 states in the U.S., and I know when the need arises to pay that much money for a room, but there is nothing out here that would drive their prices up that high! The fact that there is a military installation in the vicinity of your business should not drive up your prices. This is not a Hilton, and you should go into the experience understanding that. That being said, for the price you really can't beat it. The rooms are fairly spacious (more so than the Days Inn off post where my husband I spent two weeks at the beginning of our PCS here.) Ours had two queen size beds, a small table with two chairs, a TV armoire, a large dresser, an armchair, and little kitchenette. The bathroom is small, but again...I wasn't exactly expecting a jacuzzi tub & double sink. The free, continental breakfast served each morning is one of the more varied ones I have seen. They have your typical breads, bagels, muffins, cereals, & oatmeal. Plus yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, a small fruit selection (apples, bananas, & oranges- don't get too excited) and frozen meats, eggs, waffles, french toast you can heat up in one of the two microwaves. Sure if you're staying there for as long as me (1 month) you'll probably get sick of it, but I'd get sick of anything after eating it for 30 days straight. There's microwavable food available for purchase at the front desk, which saved us many a late night. The free coffee & tea available 24/7 is a nice little perk, too. Oh and a free laundry room is a great plus! There are only 3 washers & 3 dryers, so it does tend to get a little crowded. My few complaints: the little kitchen area is very small and doesn't have a stove. Eating microwavable meals for every meal gets old, quickly. Also, the WiFi is AWFUL. You can access the internet, but don't expect it to be fast and certainly don't expect to watch any videos online. For some reason, the cell phone reception is terrible here too. It's weird, once I'm a few feet away from the hotel, my cell phone gets its bars back & I can use it. That was pretty inconvenient. Overall, a fine place to spend some time during a PCS unless you're a millionaire and can afford to stay in luxury for more than a few days. Which, if you're in the Army, I'm pretty sure you aren't. :)

Upon further inspection if the towels could talk, they would tell a story. The dried vomit outside of our room was a nice touch to add to the experience. The bed, and the pillows had live bed bugs. We saved one in a piece of toilet paper to show the property. We packed our belongings and checked out. I stopped at the front desk, informed them of our room number, we were leaving, and why. I showed the gentleman the live bed bug we found. His reaction wasn't the best, and no refund was offered. Booking.com tried to get us a refund, but the property refused to return their call. The property refused to communicate with me as well. Below is a picture of the live bed bug we presented the property and one I found on me when I returned home, which I obviously killed, after driving 5 hours in the pouring rain, at night through the Adirondack Park.

The owners and the hotel housekeepers were all extremely pleasant. We had a dog-friendly room because we brought our boy, and there was nothing wrong with the room at all. We had a nice night here with no complaints. They offered breakfast the next morning and it was what you would find at a HI Express or something comparable. I agree that even though the hotel is smoke-free, you can tell that some people try to get away with it. Lazy. The weather was great, they could have gone outside.
