This is a very nice hotel. At $50 per night, this hotel is priced to be very affordable for military personnel and military families. My room is not cramped at all as it is very spacious; very long and very wide. It comes with the following amenities: * Large bed * Large couch that comfortably seats two * Flat-screen LG tv * Table for two * Coffee table * Medium refrigerator * Microwave * Iron & ironing board The bathroom comes stocked very well. The free WiFi is a great addition to the room. I can't count how many installations I've been to that charged military personnel for this very much needed feature. The staff are very friendly, courteous, and professional. I would definitely stay here in the future and recommend this hotel to my friends and business associates. *** The hotels out in Watertown are outrageously priced in the $115-$175 per night range! I don't know what they are thinking. I was offended when told that, due to my being in the military, that they would adjust my rate to the per diem rate. First of all, per diem has nothing to do with commercial businesses. They thought they are doing service members a favor by meeting the per diem rate. I found this to be extremely disrespectful and felt their business is taking advantage of the money I am provided by the government for temporary housing. Holiday Inn Express??? Comfort Inn??? Ramada??? These hotels should never be above $65 per night and they are asking more than double that! We are in upstate New York! Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful up here. However, I've travelled to over 26 states in the U.S., and I know when the need arises to pay that much money for a room, but there is nothing out here that would drive their prices up that high! The fact that there is a military installation in the vicinity of your business should not drive up your prices. You should instead be greatful of the added business and increase in the local economy that the installation has created for your business. It amuses me to read the negative reviews on here. You do realize you're paying $49 a night for a hotel on a military installation, correct? This is not a Hilton, and you should go into the experience understanding that. That being said, for the price you really can't beat it. The rooms are fairly spacious (more so than the Days Inn off post where my husband I spent two weeks at the beginning of our PCS here.) Ours had two queen size beds, a small table with two chairs, a TV armoire, a large dresser, an armchair, and little kitchenette. The bathroom is small, but again...I wasn't exactly expecting a jacuzzi tub & double sink. The free, continental breakfast served each morning is one of the more varied ones I have seen. They have your typical breads, bagels, muffins, cereals, & oatmeal. Plus yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, a small fruit selection (apples, bananas, & oranges- don't get too excited) and frozen meats, eggs, waffles, french toast you can heat up in one of the two microwaves. Sure if you're staying there for as long as me (1 month) you'll probably get sick of it, but I'd get sick of anything after eating it for 30 days straight. There's microwavable food available for purchase at the front desk, which saved us many a late night. The free coffee & tea available 24/7 is a nice little perk, too. Oh and a free laundry room is a great plus! There are only 3 washers & 3 dryers, so it does tend to get a little crowded. My few complaints: the little kitchen area is very small and doesn't have a stove. Eating microwavable meals for every meal gets old, quickly. Also, the WiFi is AWFUL. You can access the internet, but don't expect it to be fast and certainly don't expect to watch any videos online. For some reason, the cell phone reception is terrible here too. It's weird, once I'm a few feet away from the hotel, my cell phone gets its bars back & I can use it. That was pretty inconvenient. Overall, a fine place to spend some time during a PCS unless you're a millionaire and can afford to stay in luxury for more than a few days. Ok, so the reviews on here are pretty old so I just wanted to update a few things. One: The price has now changed from 50 dollars per night to 79 dollars per night. I didn't realize that until we called on the phone to make a reservation and found out our spending limit on our move would be going up because of that. Two: Along with the prices, it seems like the hotel itself has upgraded. I read that the sheets were very old and scratchy and that the beds were very worn out with bad springs. The room we're staying in (which is a 2 queen size beds) has great sheets that keep you warm in the 20 degree winters when you don't feel like turning on the heater so high. The beds are also pretty comfy and very clean. The TV has also been updated, It's now a 42 inch almost flat screen but we never really watch TV anyway. Wi-Fi has improved I guess, we all watch movies off our tablets and computers and they load pretty fast too. Three: No one has posted this on any review I've seen yet so I'll post it now. They do accept pets with a 75 dollar fee for the first 5 days and a 5 dollar fee for each day afterward. You have to provide proof of rabies vaccinations in order for them to stay in the hotel though so keep that handy. There is a designated pet area to the back corner of the hotel but it's not fenced in. Also, there is a crazy pet ban in Jefferson County that doesn't allow any pets off their leash. The closest dog park is about an hour's drive away, toward Kingston, ON so be prepared for that. Other than those updates, the hotel is pretty much the same. There are no elevators, laundry is on the 2nd floor, cell reception is so horrible that your phone call fails when you turn your head the wrong way, staff are pretty friendly, free breakfast in the mornings, and no one tries to steal your things out of your parked car in the lot. My wife is very picky when it comes to hotels. We asked the girl behind the counter if we could "inspect" a room before we accept it. Was told "NO" with a shake if the head! What do you mean no????? After pushing and prodding it took the manager to allow us to look at a room. What we found was not impressive. Old and dingy. Beds had springs and were wore out. Thin sheets, ugly sheets. And no elevator to the second floor. Ok I get it I am in the military, I can climb stairs. But I have a wife, and two kids. What if my wife had physical issues? Also since housing at fort drum sucks, If you are PCSing here you might be spending awhile here, waiting for on post. Or trying to find something decent off post. up and down stairs, with a family and moving your stuff in for an extended stay, not a fun prospect. If i was TDY here for a week by myself i would suck it up and deal with it. But as a family man moving here I would rather pay a little more and stay off post, if it keeps the family happy. read more

Amazing service! This hotel is A1 with it. As soon as I walked in the lobby, I see my name on their board in a big gold star because of the IHG rewards program (all them points from traveling fam, get on my level) and the lady at the front desk hands be a bag of goodies. I proceed to check in, it didn't take longer than 5 minutes to do so. My room was on the second floor, nearby the laundry room and staircase. It was like a vacation staying here since I was on mission for 2 months with a few people in my platoon. We had it made, complimentary breakfast every morning with the housekeeping on deck, life was good you know? Didn't have to worry about cleaning shit, except my shit. It is conveniently located near 2 gyms, a gas station with a Popeyes and Subway connected to it, and the main gate for easy access. The only downside would be the thin walls, we kept hearing snoring and moaning, no matter what time of day it was. Who can blame them though, it snows way too much to be doing anything aside from sleeping or making babies. At least you can turn up the volume loud af on the big flat screens, drowns it all out. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say about this place. read more

Aside from the fact that it's located inside Fort Drum, I like how the property is very clean. They have free parking, free wifi and complementary breakfast.. can't really ask for more. Fort Drum is home to the 10th Mountain Division. My husband had a lot of fond memories here being his first deployment and all. Well you get what you pay for.. My family and I stayed here for about a month and a half earlier this spring due to the lengthy housing process on post. There is a computer area for guests to access but it is adjacent to the workers entrance to the kitchen. Also, there is the wi-fi which is greatly exaggerated. The wi-fi was extremely slow and worked better if you left your room and sat next to the front desk. There is no elevator for second floor guests which is a big hassle since most families are moving into lodging for awhile. There is free breakfast items which are microwaveable. But the staff maintaining the kitchen were not all friendly. The Inn has very poor cell phone reception for all carriers. Once we were away from lodging our phones had full service once again. There is a decent playground area which includes one BBQ grill for those willing to BBQ with many children running around you. Now onto the room portion. The bathrooms are so small that you could barely get in and out if you are sharing the room with your family. I have a family of four so that made getting ready difficult. The interior is very old along with the sheets and towels. Housekeeping will still knock on your door even with the do not disturb sign hanging on your door. I've had the housekeeping manager call me to tell me it was post policy to allow the housekeepers in when they need to change the sheets. I had my daughter napping which is why I had to turn them away. They should come by during the morning when the soldiers are off to work in the morning. But I have seen a big variation in housekeeping schedule so they can show up anytime from 0900 to about 1630. There is a mini kitchenette (sink, microwave, mini fridge with one tray as a wannabe freezer) but has microwaveable bowls and pots for you to use. The tv is so tiny in the armoire/desser that we had to sit on the edge of the bed to really watch tv. The door to your room does not block out the constant hallway light. It also does not block out sounds. So you can definitely wake up to the sounds of soldiers rushing out to pt in the morning along with their cars rushing out the parking lot. Laundry room is situated on the second floor but it's in a first come first serve basis. We usually went down the street to the laundromat where we could get laundry cleaned and finished in an hour compared to waiting for the next washer and dryer opening up. I have stayed at lodging on other posts and it was never like this. Also if you have to extend your stay due to a delay in getting housing on post, getting extensions suck. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay in the one room the entire stay but we have had friends who had to move rooms or even to the cabins on post due to no rooms available. We have stayed at inns, motels, hotels for two weeks prior to arriving on post. Yes it's somewhat affordable but would love to see upgrades made to this old building along with better staff and service. Even my barracks room back in Camp Zama was a lot better than what they have as the Inn at Fort Drum. There is a rumor that the Inn is up for an upgrade within the next year or two. Hopefully by then it will improve the quality of life for those who need temporary lodging during their PCS to and from Fort Drum. read more

One of the worst Army lodging I stayed in, and I have stayed at many locations in my time. My room was dark, damp and dirty, and we had to stay here for five nights!? Very minimal complimentary breakfast. Staff is fine some are even friendly--just a badly outdated facility. I hope they can build a new one or overhaul this one radically. For $79 a night (full government per diem rate), I'm sure I can find something better in the area. read more

My review is based on my stay. 2 full beds, lazy boy recliner, small kitchen area with microwave, mini fridge, sink, and tiny coffee maker. Bed covers are old and rough. Popcorn ceiling, vintage low watt ceiling lights, hard spring beds, bathroom is not spacious but has a bath tub and a huge mirror. Free continental breakfast mon-fri 6am-9am however it's not the most appetizing line up visually and tasting. All breakfast items are pre-frozen and thawed to heat up yourself while people in line wait to use the 1 microwave or you can use your own microwave in your room. WiFi is available for all guests, better off using your smart phones 3G because 4G service has not yet made way here and if you're fortunate enough to get mobile service here. There are no elevators here. Front desk staff have a disgruntled attitude no matter how friendly and courteous you are. They do allow pets and have a small outdoor area by the C entrance however the C entrance(inside) has a distinct odor of a dirty litter box. There is a playground for children to play only with adult supervision and if the weather permits. Outdoor charcoal bbq grills to use also when weather permits. No indoor smoking is allowed and designated smoking areas are provided outside. Basic cable is available on the 26" flat screen. $49 a night is doable and tolerable especially if you're getting reimbursed. My review is not to scare you away from the Drum Inn but just to give you a heads up on what you're getting into. There's a few other places off post available that has better food and lodging accommodations for a family if you choose not to stay at the Drum Inn. read more
