Everything was fine until we got to the vaccinations portion of the visit. My daughter is partial vaccinated currently we are exempt which the office should have been aware of because we used to deal with Dr. Loya prior to her retirement with no issues after expressing or change. Dr. McKnight gave me documentation to review and I politely took the papers while still firm on my decision. She continued to mention the importance and how she does for her children. Then after we went to vision and hearing and then dismissed. I was confused to why I did not receive a copy of the physical just performed, asking the nurse Jennifer for a copy. She was rude staying the documents you have is all you need (information on vaccinations). When I know from previous experience I always received a copy in the past. I inquired again then she said your child is not vaccinated so I can't get you those documents. Also rudely asking for a form I had in my hand that was supposed to be turned in. After I inquired more than a couple of times she stormed off with a attitude and had the office assistant bring me the completed physical form. I asked the ladies in the medical office they said we can't get you the copy but can fax it somewhere if you need. I then knew what was going on, the attitudes and demeanor had changed because I did not want to get my child vaccinations. I informed the ladies in the office that they shouldn't treat people like that based on their belief, no response or apology. ** next day** I spoke with the office manager on the phone while waiting upon my return for a correction on the physical/ copy of sports physical. Debbie who was unable to give me the nurse full name on the nickname of Jenn for as she mentioned legal reasons, but I will be filling a report with the Virginia Board of Medicine regarding this treatment. I came the next day to have the document given yesterday corrected (incorrect initial on my daughter's name) and to have the proper physical filled out for her sport. The lady at the medical office tried to justify the incorrect spelling because my initial was what was used. I am aware human error happen but do not blame me for that, especially when all of the papers I filled out was completed correctly with my daughters name and date of birth. After waiting about 20 minutes the documents were ready yet the date of birth was incorrect so we had to wait a few more minutes for the correction. We were handed the documents and politely went on our way, without an in person apology from the nurse, doctor or medical staff for our treatment. Please be aware of service given here! Dr. Ryland listened to me and my concerns, set a plan of action and my son was better within a week. I remember her telling my son that he was "so happy for being sick". I knew Pediatric Partnership was the place for us when we came back for the follow-up, she commented that he was "still happy for being sick". I knew then that she remembered us and it wasn't from notes written in a chart. I love the intimate feel of a smaller practice where you can see the same Doctor each visit. When my daughter had RSV at 5 weeks old, Dr. Ryland thoroughly checked her and recommended for her go be admitted to the hospital. Since her oxygen was so low, she had to be transported by ambulance. Before I could even start crying Dr. Ryland hugged me and said the most compassionate things that immediately made me calm down. She called the hospital that evening and the next day to check on my daughter. I've yet to meet such a caring, thoughtful and amazing Doctor.

It's Feb and we've already been here twice. The first time, my oldest son needed to get stitches…read morebecause he fell during sensory hour at a trampoline place. The front desk was/is AMAZING. It was my first time taking my son to the ER and you can def tell I had the mommy jitters. I didn't know what to expect and bringing my son who is nonverbal, autistic, and ADHD...you just worry as a momma. The nurses and doc in the back were fantastic. We were there for about 2.5-3 hours, which I think makes sense because we also had to get my son some of their numbing ointment before performing the stitches. They were so informative and so understanding with my son. The doc was fantastic with my son when doing the stitches and def quick hands. At the end of this visit, he ended up walking out with 3 stitches. 2nd Visit - my son woke up with the right side of his face super swollen. It was 6:30 in the morning and I literally put on a jacket and took him straight here. I also couldn't think of another place that was open at that time and his pediatrican didn't open up until 8 so...you can see why I decided here. There is Urgent Care parking next to the building and since I'm experienced I was able to bring a packed backpack with things to keep him occupied. We got checked in and brought to the back quickly like the last time. The nurses were fantastic and listened to our concern and what was going on with our little guy (nothing new, no new detergent, no new foods - what is going on?!) They kept me updated along the way with EVERYTHING they were planning on doing and explaining the reason why. It was scary but relieving at the same time. We ended up getting admitted to the hospital upstairs (which I am so grateful I decided to take him to the UR here). Again, everyone in the ER were wonderful and I HIGHLY recommend this place for kids. Thank you!

So, when my son was having trouble breathing and we took him to St. Mary's in the middle of the…read morenight, I wasn't even thinking that they had a pediatric ER! We headed to the regular side and the kind men in the vestibule stopped us and directed us to another door, which was the opening to the pediatric ER. The whole experience was great. We were able to check in immediately, then we waited about 45min for triage. Once we got in to triage, they did a quick explanation of what was going on and sent us to a room immediately. I really appreciated that, as breathing issues are nothing to play with. It was extremely validating that they saw fit to treat us right away. Once we were in the room, the doctor came in within about 5-10 minutes. He was nice, but kind of loud and quick? I don't know how else to explain it. He wasn't my absolute favorite, but he got the job done. Let us know what was going on, and ordered x rays and treatment. The x rays were done shortly after and then a nurse came in to give meds. The only negative I would say is that we sat there waiting for a really long time without any explanation of what was going on. I thought we were waiting for them to start a certain treatment on my son, but they never came and did it. So finally someone came in to check on him and updated me that they decided not to do the treatment, that he looked good, and I guess all the wait was for them to observe him to see if he got better after the initial dose of meds. All fine and good! I just wish that someone had updated us on the treatment plan so we knew why we were waiting. Anyway, we were discharged around 2:30am and my son was definitely showing signs of improvement. I was really happy with the nurse who helped us. She was an angel and continued to ask us if we had any questions, which we did and she answered so patiently. Kidmed is only open from 2pm-8 or 9pm, and of course the doctor's office is only open during business hours, so whenever my kids get sick outside of those hours, I am definitely coming back to the St. Mary's Pediatric ER!

He takes very good care of his patients. He and Dr Peng got me through my "geriatric pregnancy" back in 2003. They were there whenever I needed them. I birthed a healthy baby! They gave me moral support as well as medical support and guidance. I can't thank them enough. Wonderful doctors!
