I'm not big into getting my nails done since I'm an athlete and usually end up breaking or chipping them in a couple days (if I'm lucky) but the dip powder is a game changer, it's been a week and they're still standing strong. I've been back now a number of times. Each time is wonderful, and I leave happy. I have been searching for a nail salon that does powder gel well. I have found that some places do it better than others. Some do it poorly. I've been driving 30 minutes to an excellent salon, but I wanted something closer to home. I saw an old high school friend post several photos of her nails, and they looked incredible. Upon her recommendation, I made an appointment at this salon. On a Tuesday morning, I walked into a very busy salon. There was no counter or "front desk". I was "greeted" (though that isn't the right word) by a gentleman who could best be described as abrasive. The woman who walked in behind me also had an appointment for the same time. We were told to pick colors. The woman happened to be done sooner than I was, and she was escorted to an open seat. I was ignored. It was only when I was standing there holding my nail polish that I was told by the gentleman to take a seat. Fifteen minutes later, I was contemplating walking out when I heard a male voice shout "hello hello, you come down here." I'd be lying if I said that didn't rub me the wrong way. There is a way to talk to customers, and that is not it. Gratefully, apart from the initial filing, the gentleman was not involved with the process. Speaking of filing, they have a machine that sucks up the debris from the filing. I think that's something worth noting as it probably minimizes the dust in the air. Lena did my pedicure. She did a careful and thorough job. In addition to being very sweet, she took pride in what she was doing. A lot of places don't file the top of the toe nail, leaving ridges that sometimes show through. Lena filed them and I am happy with the result. Angie did my powder gel manicure. Again, it was evident that she takes pride in what she does. Angie was efficient and careful. The end result is a manicure that is very natural looking- not thick as some places do. From what I understand from other customers, Anne the owner is an absolute pleasure. She happened to be off on the day I went. The place is clean, the women I dealt with were nice, and they did a good job. For these reasons, I can overlook the abrasive gentleman and give a solid 4/5 star rating for this visit. Unreal the amount of pain i am in. I asked several times while getting this SNS manicure only a week ago to make them thicker and she ignored me and mocked me but considering my real nails are long I wanted them to be thick. After the 3rd time asking the owner had to come over and make her put only 1 more layer on. I have spent over a year growing my nails out and this place RUINED them now I will have to start over. So I tried this place out for the first time Thursday night after the many good reviews and i am very disappointed to say I spent 35$ on the powder manicure that is supposed to last 2-4 weeks mine started chipping the next day! I've been going to New Glen Cove Nails for 3 years now & have nothing but compliments for the staff. Ann, one of the owners is a pleasure. She greets you by name and accommodates you whenever possible. Lily does both my powder fills and pedicures. She's thoughtful, courteous, and most importantly, highly skilled and conscientious. I couldn't help but notice some poor reviews, which seem to be based on perceived rudeness. While my preference would be that the ladies all be fluent in English, that's not the case. Based on my observations they're all are very sweet but many are unable to communicate well in English. Ann, however is quite fluent (with an accent) and will always step in to assist. They have a great selection of colors and products. They get very busy so if you have a favorite technician, appointments are best. They run on time, which in my experience is unusual. They use air filtration, which is important to our health and proper sanitization techniques - all very important to me. Parking is relatively easy. All in all, great Nail Salon! read more

Disappointed. I have been a loyal customer here for over 6 years but after last weeks experience I will not be going back. I showed the nail tech a picture of a hand painted design and asked her if she could do it. She said yes but the experience was strange after that. She never allowed me to pick my color, instead she assigned me one that she thought was close to the picture? Kinda strange. Then she said she would have to charge me $15 extra on gel because of the design which I was fine with because they're hand painted. However at the end she started putting on these stickers. I didn't like these but I figured she would at least lower the price since these were dollar store sticker quality. However at the end she charged me $45+ a tip which is insane since it was just a regular gel with cheap stickers. I was disappointed since this wasn't even close to the picture and she was still charging me as if she had hand painted them. The next day these nails started coming up and the designs started to peel... I was so angry since these were my birthday nails. I called Anne ( the owner) and told her i was upset and she assured me that I could come in and she would fix them for free. However when I went to go back Anne changed the story. She began with filing them down to get the stickers off and then she asked me if she could just apply top coat ? Excuse me after filing my nails they were bumps and see through. Why would I want to walk around like that? So I asked Anne to change the color and she said she would but for $10. I don't understand why she charged me when clearly it was a mistake on their end. And that's how my gel went from $30 to $67 and it wasn't what I wanted in the first place. I will not be returning read more

Walked into Glen Cove New Nails today with no idea what I wanted and a pretty damaged nail (got caught in a car door!). Angie helped me settle on an SNS powder manicure with tips, $55 base price. Angie was careful and thorough, with a beautiful result. She took her time and made sure that I got the look I wanted! The final product looks quite natural and not as thick as other nails I have seen. Was referred to this salon by a lady at my doctor's office who usually sees Tina and has equally quality results. Only complaint is that getting an almond shape nail was an extra $5 (over a square or round shape). Will definitely be back to get my nails filled in as they grow out ($35 I was told). read more

I've been going here for about 8 years now and have always had such a pleasant experience. The owner Ann is an absolute sweetheart and always makes you feel so welcomed upon walking in and always keeps up to date with the newest trends. Maggie does my nails and always does a great job especially with making sure my long stiletto shaped nails are always very pointy and even. My nails usually last 3 weeks without breaking. I never go a day at work without someone complimenting my nails and asking me where I get them done. 10/10 recommend this place to anyone read more

5/4/21 This is my first time going to New GC Nails. They followed all the Covid protocols and place was very clean. The owner, Anne, greeted me and was very pleasant and checked on me. Tina did both my nails and feet. She was quiet and pleasant, except to ask which package I wanted. She did the bare basics and no little rub for my back while my nails dried like the place I used to go. I just got a regular, no thrills mani/pedi and was shocked that it cost $35. I expected some increase because of Covid protocols and being closed and all, but that is ridiculous. I don't like that there is no price list at the salon or online except the packages on a laminated sheet at the pedicure chair. I should of asked on the phone before I came I guess. I'm used to paying $23 for both. I thought maybe up to $30, but not $35. I won't be going back. read more

Recently this salon has been doing a TERRIBLE job. The man that works here is extremely rude and every time he does my nails he hurts me. I've been getting my nails done for years now and i can tell that the people who have been doing my nails have been half-assing my nails. The WORST manicure and pedicure I have ever gotten. I purposely downloaded Yelp just to give this place the review they deserve. Not only did they rush through both the manicure and pedicure (which is very overpriced as all they did was cut and paint my nails, no other lotions or anything), but the male doing my nails cut my finger and did not do anything about the blood. This place is DIRTY as well, I did not see them clean a single tool while I was there, all they did was dip it into the pedicure water then use it on the next customer.
