    Exploring the sand table

What a neat little spot! We found a Groupon and went this past weekend and our 2 year old absolutely loved it! With covid you have to make an appointment but we enjoyed having it private and we chose the first slot. The girl who showed us around was so friendly and knowledgeable. She was great with our girl who wanted to run from one tank to another lol. Lots to do afterwards too. They have some sand tables and places to play outside. We also enjoyed walking the park trail. The carousal just opened this weekend too! We will def return!

Decent aquarium, but was not as big as I was hoping for. Plus is they have a guy standing in front of an open aquarium sink area showing off different crabs, seashells, etc, and giving a great presentation. The place was difficult to find (across from the gas station) and there is PLENTY of open parking. They charge $7 per adult (under 2 is free) - I believe... in my opinion, good, not great.

The kids loved it, they took so much time explaining everything to the kids and let them feed the fish.

Wonderful place for kids to learn about local marine life. The staff was very patient with our four grandchildren. And they learned a lot.

Love this gem. Small and perfect for toddlers and middle schoolers to explore sea life from the Maryland waters.

My toddler liked the touch tank too, staff was very good at explaining features and picking out certain animals that kids can touch.

Surprisingly, I found signage explaining that there used to be a National Aquarium in DC (under the Department of Commerce), but that was a smaller facility and was ultimately subsumed into this one. You'll struggle to find a larger or more impressive aquarium on the East Coast. The price has always been high and continues to escalate. For some locals, a membership is probably the right decision. It must be said that despite being an expensive attraction, it still draws crowds. The cleanliness of the non-exhibiting areas is not great, and given what they charge they ought to be hiring every able-bodied person in Baltimore to maintain the place. The exhibits themselves are impressive. The main winding exhibition includes a tour of Maryland's biodiversity and a massive shark tank, as well as a diversion for harbor views. Their Amazonia is not quite as good as the National Zoo's but combining that with an Australian wing will get you some interesting and bizarre wildlife. The dolphin wing included a speculative bit about trying to set aside some outdoor dolphin sanctuary in the future; the ethics of animal husbandry are beyong the scope of yelp reviews but I found this interesting. Certainly, the jellyfish petting tank doesn't raise a ton of concerns as to the limitations on the freedom of jellyfish, but dolphins are a different matter. Regardless of age, visitors will likely find plenty to look at and learn about.

Since my last review, I ended up purchasing a family membership to the Children's Science Center…read moreand it is the BEST purchasing decision I have made all year. It's close proximity means that I have a go-to spot to bring the kids on school breaks, rainy days, cold days, or whenever we simply have nothing to do. While there are a few standing exhibits, the staff does a really good job at changing things up (and keeping things topical) so each visit feels special. And the best part... SLIME. We've made slime conductors, spider slime, fluffy slime, snowflake slime, glow-in-the-dark slime .. basically alll the slime. The experiment lab always has a slime option and it is a highlight of every visit. My eldest daughter went from barely reading and needing help at the beginning of our membership to fully reading and creating experiments on her own. It is so much fun to see. For the littles, there is a small playroom with building blocks, magnatiles, books, and those large blue fort/construction material building materials. My two-year old loved spending time in this room but now that she is three she likes making her own hovercrafts and setting them sail in the wind tunnel. The staff is SO kind, SO helpful, and so passionate about what they do. I love how they offer volunteer/internship opportunities to teens and will also set up special traveling science labs to Title I schools. If you are a member you also get discounted or free visits to children's science museums all across the United States which has made this membership 100% worth it for our family. If you are looking for an experience gift to give a little one this year, I highly recommend the Children's Science Center!

I was worried there wouldn't be enough activity for her age but she had a blast playing with exhibits and blocks in the interactive room. She also made "play dough" as an experiment.
