Decent course, but not particularly enchanting. Everything is straight and has no elevation change. Makes walking manageable, though I was disappointed in no power carts because it was "too soft." No cart girl and the turn doesn't get you very close for a snack. The closest you get is on 7/8. Some frustrating moments of hitting a fine shot and just having a ball disappear. Think it might just be one of those cursed courses with the way the grass/leaves/shadows combine. Holes are nice to look at but overall I just wasn't wowed. read more

I'm local. This track is almost literally in my back yard. Generally speaking the course is in great shape. It suffers (from time to time, as all public courses do) from an inability of players to fix their ball marks on the greens, but overall everything is in really great shape. I'd give the course itself 4 stars for play and value. But the staff in the pro shop is absolutely top notch and get 6 stars. They have been extremely helpful and easy to work with a number of issues that I've had - always pleasant, always working to make your life easy on the course and always striving to (and achieving) give the guest the best possible golf experience. Also, if you are a bird watcher and lover, you cannot top the several hawks that live on the third and fourth holes, and which can be seen elsewhere throughout the course. Played the course in early May and it was in very good shape. I like this course because fairways are tight on numerous holes and for the most part the greens are very firm. The very sandy greens don't allow balls to hit and stick a lot. Bunkers were in good shape which is always a good sign. If I have a gripe about the course design its that even from the blue tees there are a number of par four holes that are in the 325-340 range which is fairly short. Would like to see some longer par fours but nothing you can really do about that. Price wise - played twilight for $32 which is reasonable if you get all 18 in. $49 seems a little high but it is a nice course in a nice area - right next to the Chicago Botanic Gardens. I would play this course again. read more

Alright- I have a new course on the north shore that I will keep coming back to. I just played, its in beautiful condition. Early October is hit or miss for courses- some are beautiful and have survived a hard summer of play... others are concrete and torn up. This north shore gem was literally perfection for the price. We got in as the first tee time, walked the round in just at 3-hours... and loved it. Its not the most difficult course, or the most twisted and conviluted layout I have played... but its nice. Trees, fairway bunkers, some rolling hills... soft greens... It has what you need for a perfect outing. read more

I live right down the street, have for about 20 years, and learned the game at this course. Course will always have a soft spot in my heart and is maintained nicer than most of the public courses in the area. Essentially every staff has been horribly rude and disrespectful for as long as I've been going and I now don't play their course because of this. The course is absolutely worth playing but avoid the staff AT ALL COSTS (except Cesar). read more

I love the golf course and the staff . The staff is very friendly and the course is usually in good shape . Please please do something about your driving range . It's like hitting out of a dry desert . I spend more time looking for a scrap of grass to hit off of than actually hitting balls when I hit here . read more

Disappointing 4th of July round at Glencoe Golf Club. Place was muddy and boring. Ranger came out on 8th hole and said pick it up because there are 2 twosomes stacked on the tee. Separate twosomes! We played 9 holes in 2 hours and 13 minutes and walked while the separate twosomes were in carts. After 9 I went to the starter and blasted the ranger and the starter (good guy) apologized and said he'd reprimand the ranger. We were faster than the targeted pace. Also my future son-in-law was challenged on putting green asking him what's his tee time because you can't putt unless you have a tee time. He's Korean heritage and I'm Danish. No one hassled me. We have other favorite courses so this experiment knocked it off our list. read more

It is a very nice course, but not easy! I've lost far too many balls playing on these narrow fairways. The course is well kept! If you're looking for a cheap round of golf they have nice twilight fares starting at 2:30pm. read more

Management and staff are rude. My husband was there on a weekend and paid for 3 people to play, our priest and our 17-year-old daughter rounded out the three players. I came along to watch my daughter play and to drive the cart. An employee came out and yelled from the clubhouse that my husband would have to pay for me to ride along, fine, whatever. While I was there I asked an employee if I would be able to rent a cart during the week when my daughter came to play for her high school tournament, I was told that as long as I paid for the cart, I would be able to get a cart. When I arrived on the day of the tournament and asked to rent a cart I was told I could not get a cart. When I explained that I had asked earlier in the week about the cart, the employee went and got a manager. When the manager came out to speak to me about the situation I again tried to explain what I had been told and he would not allow me to finish and started to speak over me. I know there are different rules in effect due to the COVID-19 situation, but this does not excuse the lack of respect and their rude behavior. read more

A great public course. Well kept. Challenging but not unfair. Greens are in great shape. Fairways and rough are kept nice and clean cut. They have a driving range but you can only use irons, but at least you can warm up. You won't be disappointed by this course. Runs along side the botanical gardens so there are some really nice views as well. read more

The course is probably one of the best maintained public courses on the north shore and continues to improve. Holes are constantly being updated and beautified. The only downside is that some people believe that they should play at their own pace instead of being courteous to others. Stella and her staff are as good as it gets. If I could give zero stars, I would. I went golfing with my friend (we're 14-15 years old). We arrived at 2pm and had to wait until 3:46pm for a tee time. We were a twosum and got paired up with another twosum (a couple who was in their 40s and were beginners at golf). My friend is a beginner, while I am an intermediate golfer. Anyways, we were golfing and tried our hardest to keep up the pace. Jerry is the rudest person on earth. He told my friend twice to pick up her ball and just walk the 2nd and 3rd holes. And also, he kept on driving in the golf cart up to me and yelling at my friend because she wasn't as quick as I was. I was very upset with Jerry. The couple who was with us was very upset too. The wife was furious and hated the idea that she was being rushed. I agreed with her. Jerry forced my friend and I to forfeit and we received our refunds. The guy at the counter was saying, "Next time you golf, you need to pick up the pace." I think the Glencoe Golf Club is meant for intermediate to expert golfers. I'm forced to golf at Glencoe because my high school holds its practices at this Club. Staff is very rude here. Only the food at the restaurant is good. Glencoe Golf Club should have tee times for beginners, intermediates, and experts. If the Club had different tee times for different levels, I think I would like Glencoe Golf Club better. It is a little on the pricy side compared to surrounding Golf Clubs. read more

A Treasure in the North Shore area. To be hones the first time I played this course, I thought I was playing a country-club style course. But Glencoe is open to the public, a little on the more expensive side, but well worth each dollar. You will enjoy this course. Best recommended for the average player. read more

The staff was somewhat rude as they wouldn't allow one person to watch me and my friend play. I would understand that if it were a particularly busy day, but very few people were out and there wasn't another group within 3 holes of us. The course was ok, respectable shape, but it did not make up for the fact that we were bugged to keep up an unnecessarily fast pace of play, and weren't allowed to have someone watch. It's not as if we were taking 10 shots each a hole, we're all double bogey golfers so on a light traffic day there should not have been a problem. read more
