I had capillaries and red and brown areas on my face that I thought were just parts of aging (and until now, they would have been) but some were really bad looking, like a red line across my face that everyone noticed, and one side of my nose being permanently red with popped veins. I hated the way it look so grew a beard to cover some of it up, but wasn't really happy like that but didn't want to shave because some of it looked so horrible and unnatural. I also hated it because it was from my years of too much sun and drinking, and I don't do either anymore, but my skin didn't improve on its own. There was also some red from when I had poison ivy on my face years ago that would just not go away. But Dr. B was able to get rid of or almost all of it with a series of IPL treatments (each treatment sees some improvement so it depends on how committed you are as a patient and how bad your condition is, and how your body reacts, there is no way to speed it up since they need to test how your skin reacts to it during the first and second treatments, if they do it too hard, you will get burnt. Just explaining why it takes multiple treatments). I would've done this years ago, if I knew it was available and worked. I felt deformed and thought this stuff was permanent, but there are treatments to trigger your body to heal itself, way beyond what I thought was possible. All of the dramatic before and after pics are real. I don't get the other reviews that are negative. Literally every doctor and dentist and dermatologist has co-payments and a wait time. Having to pay for something is not a red flag. That is not a reason to hand out a one star rating. Nor is coming two hours early unannounced and not being able to get in in front of people with appointments. So if you are reading on this, focus on what I just wrote and not the angry people who want to complain about nothing. I had an appointment today at 3:45 PM EST. Because of the travel time I had to leave early from my job to make sure I was there on time but I was very early (1:45 PM). I figure that it wouldn't hurt to ask if there were any cancellations and if there were, (if possible) If I could be seen earlier than my scheduled time. But before I could say word, one of the 3 receptionists told me (just before she took another bite of her lunch that she was having at the front counter) to take a seat, that they would call me when they were ready to see me. I left to go get some lunch myself to return later closer to my scheduled time but still I had about an hour left. It was approximately 2:50 PM when I walked in and sat down. There were 5 other people waiting, some with children. I saw one patient across from me had left and decided to switch seats. At which time the single receptionist asked me 'Sir do you have an appointment? I responded 'Yes. I gave her my name and the time of the appointment. Soon thereafter my response she said to me 'You have to leave and come back when it is your time for your appointment. Although there were other patients in the 'Waiting Area', all waiting different times for their scheduled appointments, I was the one that was told to leave and come back. I got up from the chair and went to the counter to let this receptionist to let her know that I wanted to cancel the appointment that I had at 3:45 PM And her response after was, would you like to re-schedule? I don't know what was lost in transition but I knew then I was not dealing with the sharpest tool in the shed. I repeated myself and said No again, please cancel. The only conciliation that I left with was 'Thank God I didn't take a day off to do this'. My wife is trying to search for something closer to home as she is well aware of my underlying medical issues such as rheumatoid arthritis on both hips that I suffer from. Not easy to walk without some form of pain. I am not trolling and have never had the need to write any reviews for anything ever until now. But I feel that other people which are contemplating in coming to this dermatologist should think twice before scheduling an appointment here. A little professionalism goes a long way when dealing with the public needs. Even if you lack education there is no need to treat people that bringing you business (especially in these times) with disrespect. P.S. Dr. Brezel is the worst dermatologist I have ever seen, and I have seen many. He is nasty, brash, and completely NOT thorough. I had a skin condition on my head and he looked at it for 1 second. He did not do a complete exam or ask any questions. Additionally, he was supposed to do a procedure, my insurance covered the medication, and he wanted to charge me an addition $300 on top of billing my insurance for an office visit. His office indicated that they DID NOT KNOW if my insurance would cover it. The smart thing would be to submit for prior authorization to the insurance company like any decent and knowledgable medical practice would do, and that is what my new dermatologist Dr. Bobby Buka at the Dermatology Specialists did, and he will not charge me a cent. Dr. Brezel is a fraud who is out to take your money and has no morality and decency. This is a low class medical office. Due yourself a favor and find a more upscale and professional dermatology office. Schweiger Dermatology and the Dermatology Specialists have several offices around NYC, you would be better with them. Literally the worst experience I've had in my life. The lady at the front desk was extremely disrespectful and had a hideous attitude. From the ugly facial expressions she made to throwing documents at me this experience was horrific. When I asked to speak with someone with common sense I was asked to leave after being asked to pay $150 that was not mentioned when I called and made the appointment. If you can avoid this place at all costs I would advise you to do so. In this case the customer is not right even when spending money and having paperwork thrown at you. I left work early in order to make a 4:00 appointment. Was kept waiting in the office for 1 hour. I had a small mole removed from my leg. It became severely infected within 3 days. When I called to make appointment to have the doctor look at the infection, I was given an appointment time I couldn't make. I was told the doctor's schedule was booked for the rest of the day. I would think that they should be able to accomodate a patient if their leg is infected because of a procedure they performed. Very disatisfied. He really is a nasty man, and I agree with Steve G's post. I was in there for some spots I noticed on my legs, the pills he prescribed to help gave me major migraines so for my follow up visit I told him I couldnt continue taking them bev=cause my headaches were so bad I couldnt concentrate at work, etc. He told me to take them anyway, I continued to to tell him that the migraines were REALLY bad, something Ive never experienced and his reply was "what do you want me to do then if you dont want to take them" ??? Didn't make it into the dr office yet but the receptionist was the worst, they all had attitudes and didn't treat me with any respect. They were very argumentative when it came to verifying info with my carrier, even hung the phone up on us. I'm here in the waiting livid. Hope the doctor has better service than this. I wouldn't even give them 1 star but it wouldn't let me use none!!!!!So I finally make it into Doctor Brezel examination room and he seemed very informative and actually had taken actions that no other dermatologist has taken upon the first visit. I let him know that I was displeased with the customer service and he actually blamed it on my insurance company not giving proper information on their website. I actually tried to correct the issue at hand by having a live representative on the phone with his staff but he insisted that if the wrong information wasn't given there wouldn't have been an issue. LOVE DR BREZEL!!!!!!! I have been using Dr. Brezel for about 13 years and love him. I started going to him for routine skin stuff and yearly exams.
