The only thing in the restaurant to help with the heat was one big fan at the back. Unfortunately, it was blowing directly on one table of guests back there, and not really doing much for the rest of the people in the restaurant.

We walked into Gunther's and were ignored for a solid 5 minutes before we just walked out. Gunther's had a lame menu and zero customer service. We just walked out and came here to Seneca Coffee Restaurant. BEST DECISION EVER. I ordered the Lumberjack Pancakes that came with 3 pancakes, and I ordered sausage with scrambled eggs on the side. Portions were huge and super delicious. Pancakes were big and soft. Sausage was one of the best sausages I've had (I'm particular about my sausages because you can taste the difference between bad quality meats) and the eggs were perfect. My mom ordered a California omelette and it came with a hefty side of potato (salted to perfection) and for half slices of toast. My sister ordered the lumberjack French toast and it was 4 thick half slices of French toast with plenty of egg and 4 long slices of bacon that was crispy and delicious. My mom also ordered a champurrado that was pretty good. I also have to mention that we asked for some pico de gallo and the sweet woman up front made it fresh and brought it immediately. She even asked if it was ok but it was delicious with the perfect amount of spice. All of the food was divine. We left thanking them for a quality brunch and full stomachs. The owners seem like they have a priority to serve their customers properly. Most of our time spent in New York we were rushed and ignored because they are dealing with so many customers and I understand. However, when we came here to Seneca Coffee Restaurant, we realized what was really missing from the New York experience and that was real attention. If you're in the area and you want a quality dining experience where you are not ignored or rushed or feel like you're paying a lot and only getting a little, then you need to come here. We are so happy that we walked out of Gunther's to come here. This place is 11/10 just come here trust me

Ordered a Chicken Florentine with zucchini sticks for delivery. The lady on the phone told me it would take about 45 minutes. After an hour, I called and she said the delivery guy left 10 minutes ago so should be there any minute now. After no sign of him, I called back at an hour and 30 minutes. With a nasty attitude, she said she would find out where he was. Then after two hours of no sign of delivery guy (took him about an hour to come to me alone), I was frustrated and wanted to cancel order but was really hungry. He appeared two hours and 5 minutes later. The Chicken Florentine was horrible not to mention cold. The zucchini sticks were soggy as you can guess. Nonetheless, I still tipped the guy. Daybreak Cafe is about as standard of a diner as one will find this in area. In the barren land of…read morewestern Queens (more specifically, eastern Astoria), the pickens become a little slimmer as the area develops, hence Daybreak is an option for many, especially with their robust delivery, servicing many nearby hoods. The food is exactly what you'd expect - reasonably priced, similar variety as others, and about as typical as they come. Their breakfast platters are solid, especially with regards to pricing. A pastrami omelette with toast and home fries is $5.25 with a Nova Scotia lox omelette topped off for $7.95. Since eggs and anything involving morning food is generally made to order, it also happens to be the safest bet in their semi-large menu. Burgers are inconsistently decent to mediocre. More often than not, the meat temperature is rarely correct and the buns are dry and doughy. Their saving grace is that they offer many sandwich alternatives from a hearty Monte Christo sammy ($7.50) to a more gourmet Prime Rib sandwich ($10). I've also dabbled a little bit with their appetizers by trying their potato skins ($4.75), mini tacos ($5.75), and chicken fingers ($5.25). The skins were mediocre as can be, the mini tacos were more like thick taquito stubs, and the chicken fingers were solid but the breading fell apart too easily. But the worst I've saved for last, which is virtually any of their pasta dishes. Not only are they the priciest items ($10-12) on an already cheaper menu, but they're often the worst executed. A flavorless spaghetti and meatballs was the meal one day, along with a terrible overcooked salmon on a bed of equally overcooked linguini, and the list goes on. Parmigiana anything is a hazard in these parts. Exercise your carb intake with caution. If they were open later, I'm pretty sure this would be the spot to get your drunk eats on. Alas, more of a daytime establishment. And with a name like that, it seems fitting.
