I would hardly call this a police department sadly. Their priorities seem to be: High-speed chases or anything that spikes adrenaline Traffic tickets (because the hard-working can pay fines) Glendale is basically a 5-star Desert Disneyland for criminals, justice is basically a myth here. PROS: Criminal life is extremely convenient. CONS: Living here. Calling 911 is a gamble. There is no guarantee police will show up. If they do, it can take days--and they won't inform you of their decision. Be prepared to camp out. Detectives do not care about recovering stolen property. Or at least 86% of them do not according to their data. Detectives rely on other officers (usually traffic cops) to do most, if not ALL, of their legwork, instead of taking action themselves. Protocol for stolen personal property is a complete waste of time--forcing victims to spend days every single month for YEARS just to maintain a "hold" on their own stolen items. And I'm not talking about big ticket items not petty replaceable things. Investigators/Detectives do not actually investigate anything. Not even trained to. They don't have any faith in their own work and so they assume cases will lack evidence for court, which is how they verbally justify not collecting evidence or doing their job--EVEN if you tell them there is video. They statistically do not solve any cases by sleuthing (aka detective work) so they stick to bare-bone simple methodology. Let me be clear here, that methodology follows: IF it can be done in one trip and it's already solved with criminal still there. Just pretend they have to pay for their own gas in short. You may be advised to do your own sleuthing and collection of evidence even if they collected everything just shy of a handwritten confession. Expect to wait 3-5 years for someone to running fingerprints. The waiting list has been like this since 2010 and probably way before that. Interviewing people is fruitless by this point and expecting anyone to have footage- forget it. Detectives rely solely on fingerprints if there's no video. If you do have video, it must be given to them during the first call or it won't end up in the same case file and is useless. They will issue you a new, separate case number/ID and you will have to track it down when your case finally gets a look-over. Their highest "success" rate is arresting shoplifters--1 out of 5, according to their own data. And oddly their overall stats on conviction is also 1 out of 5. THEY DO NOT SOLVE CASES OR RETRIEVE CRIMINALS FROM ANYWHERE OTHER THAN THE LOCATION OF CRIME. All stores have video footage and yet that's 80% that is never solved nor anyone arrested. So remember VIDEO FOOTAGE ALONE WILL NOT HELP YOU. TIMING IS EVERYTHING. They do "one-&-done's" meaning they only arrest people who were physically caught and held there or are still in the location of where the crime was committed (such as inside a mall, Walmart or the parking lot of the business.) Because they are years behind it's nearly impossible for other police departments to work with them. If you find evidence, good luck getting them to accept it. Their storage system is basically a museum. If another department finds clear video evidence in less than 5 minutes in Glendale PD's jurisdiction--tell them immediately, because Glendale will NOT pull the footage themselves. There is zero accountability. Officers openly say things like: "Good luck getting anything to stick in court. That's the real problem. They always walk anyway." FUN FACT: Following that response a detective in another city solved my case in five minutes with the video they found at a pawnshop. But the pawnshop people now own my stuff so they can legally sell it online for thousands and thousands of dollars. Welcome to Glendale. Reopening unsolved cases--even with new evidence--is considered "taboo." They fear more paperwork more than criminals walking free. There is no urgency unless the call is exciting. You practically need to catch the criminal 20 minutes before the crime to get a 50/50 chance of officer response. Better throw a "possible high speed chase" in there to improve your odds. The non-emergency line is handled like a game of hot potato. It took me six months, calling almost daily, to get my cases merged into one file so officers wouldn't pull a no-show. No one likes working an unsolved case someone else opened already. I wouldn't recommend this police department to friends, strangers, or even the ex who cheated on me. Honestly, I don't think they would recommend themselves. * Even the insurance investigator--an ex-LAPD sergeant--was appalled by their so-called protocol, lack of initiative and absurd expectations. Matthew Schneider has no business in a uniform or any position of power. I'd go so far as to boldly and unashamedly say he has no business being a free man, and deserves jail time for brute use of force. He abused the power and trust given to him, and is no longer a servant of the public. The body cam footage, allowing us to watch with our own eyes what occurred -- rather than this muted, twisted, and honestly downright lie of a defense story that GPD is trying to pawn -- shows quite a different tale. Your officer tortured someone. Tortured. A human being. Not only that, he was humiliated in front of his children, with his pants pulled down and his testicles tased. And tased. And tased. A total of 11 times, after an unlawful traffic stop by your officers. Is that what he was taught in academy? A yes or a no would suffice, and neither answer would ever be okay. It's inhumane, and to think that someone like that, and all other officers involved and helping to throw this under the rug, is employed and protected by your police department is appalling. I hope this never happens to your loved ones. It is so, so sad to think he still remains a "respected" employee in your ranks. I would never trust my life to any of you. YOU ALL are the reason police have a bad name. This right here is exactly why. Do the right thing and fire him. This is the absolute least that could be done, short of prosecuting him like he needs to be. This is not justice. I had the best experience yesterday. I'll start off by saying I see so many different reviews, good and bad. I had a bad experience with an officer a few months ago and I'm not even going to put that on here because before that, all I had were positive things to say about the City of Glendale Police Department. The positive definitely outweighs the negative. In the past, they have been there for me multiple times. Before my dad passed, with scares with his health, needing to call for assistance, as well as the day he passed when they came to help me. I also had a crazy ex and they helped with that, without hesitation. They have helped me quickly with every situation and even a noise complaint as I have children who need their sleep during the week days. The biggest thing I want to acknowledge is two officers yesterday. I was doing yard work and trying to cut down these huge bushes by myself with tons of thorns and not enough equipment and they saw me struggling and pulled up and helped me with those bushes. It was the nicest thing ever. I hope they are recognized for this by their Sergeant. Officer Diego Roman (I hope I'm spelling his name right) and Officer Jackson. Thank you so very much! I was starting to get dehydrated, light headed and turned into a cherry tomato and they came to my rescue and did it even though I insisted I was fine doing it by myself (too much pride). Subject: Public Statement Regarding Glendale Police Department's Actions Dear Community Members, In 2020, Officer Bill Cloud of the Glendale Police Department's Professional Standards Unit allowed not only a man by the name of William Waite to threaten and intimidate two witnesses but also allowed me to be threatened. Additionally, Mr. Waite's friend, Roni Potress' sister, Rasha Potress, who worked for the Department of Child Safety, lied to the courts to remove two children from Wayne Doyle, one of the witnesses. Despite these actions, Mr. Waite or his accomplices were never arrested. However, on October 15, 2020, a warrant was issued for Mr. Doyle's arrest by Detective Brian Peach. Detective Peach was so quick to arrest Mr. Doyle that he failed to conduct a proper investigation or even read his own report. In the same charge, Detective Peach also allowed an innocent Black man to be arrested. These actions raise serious concerns about the integrity and accountability of the Glendale Police Department and highlight the need for a thorough review of their practices and procedures. read more

He may be a single individual in the department but with no oversight or real repercussions, you can't say you're a good cop while doing nothing about fellow officer's like this. This Police Department Is disgusting, Mathew Schneider should be removed from the force. The incident that took place in 2017 should have ended his Career along with all others who were involved. I Was appalled watching the body cam footage showing him use abuse of force. I was overwhelmed by what the victims children witnessed and experienced and knowing it was traumatizing and likely changed them as kids forever. I called stating a serious situation and after transferring me when I called there # that's is under there name to call for the "fire department" I had already explained this situation and I had to repeat myself over again! The dispatcher lady was rude as hell! With attitude and just extra stress to the situation was NO HELP WHAT SO EVER! These police officers definitely need training on what's Public and private property, as well as a course of the law when it comes to trespass laws. You cannot just trespass anyone from public property without breaking any laws. Investigations also need to be done with both parties before getting a lawsuit filed for violating Americans civil rights.
