The entrance of the trailhead next to the parking lot
    Gilbert R.

**This review is for the trail adjacent to the facility** The narrow trailhead begins at the entrance of the parking lot to this spacious, outdoor complex. Although not entirely new, it is extremely well-kept and clean with lots of parking. The trail itself is a nice ride/hike to the top of the electrical towers overlooking Glendale. My best guess is that it's about 2.5 miles to the first set of towers, which seems to be the highest point of the system. Apparently, the top leads to other trail systems into the Verdugo mountains that go for miles. I did notice that there's a road that runs near the towers and people often park there to enter the trail system. Good thing to know the next time around. At any rate, the beginning of the trail from the lot is steep uphill for about 1/2 mile. Prepare for a workout. Then it's up and some down from there. All single track, some switchbacks and a little bit of fire road. It is up the side of a mountain, so yes, if you spill over the side it's a long way down. Lots of shade and it's pretty well kept. I will say that this is a mixed trail, so there is some foot traffic shared with bikers. So if you are biking this, please be careful of the hikers on these single tracks. Bring a bell if you can and for everyone's safety, you really shouldn't be bombing the downhill here. There are other places for that and this is not one of them. Overall, I'd say this is a good advanced beginner to intermediate ride, depending how far you go. Fun trail!

Field #1 (330 feet to RF..wow...what a big softball field).

I'd give it a 5-star rating if the outfield wasn't mushy and soft after it rained 3-4 days ago. Everything else to the Glendale Sports Complex is COOL! Plenty of parking, if I recall, 3 big softball fields with lighted scoreboards, a concession stand, actually SOAP for washing your hands in the restroom, soccer fields, warm up throwing area next to the softball fields, etc. Looks state of the art too. The only fields that I think aremore impressive than these that i've played on are the Big League Field of Dreams softball fields. It is kind of far to get to though and way off the beaten pass from the freeway. Nice family oriented park area. Lots of walking and hiking areas too. A nice SPORTS COMPLEX.

    Snack bar menu.

Great facility with 3 softball fields that range from 275 feet to 350, 2 soccer fields, and a reasonably priced snack bar. The fields are in great condition with well groomed outfields & a crisp infield. Each field has a warm up area for the pitchers. There's plenty of parking which is at a decent enough range to not get hit with any fly or home run balls. If the snack bar is closed there's also a few vending machines to buy something to drink.

2 mile loop but plenty of exploring along the way. You can extend the total miles to 6-7

There are many routes, paths, shortcuts. You can even end up at descanso gardens if you pick the right path =)

One of four half-fields. (Also where I tore my ACL...)

Does anyone know if you can just show up and practice/train on the fields or do you need to pay to get in?

The complex typically has leagues that have permits and play on the fields. Other than the days that the leagues permit with the city, the AYSO organization also utilizes the upper soccer fields. Outside of that, I would presume you can freely go on…

As usual, water in the room costs money, and there are a few other products with hidden price tags in the room, too. Surprisingly, toothbrush and toothpaste was not provided. The water for showering also doesn't get too hot. In terms of the athletic space, the machines were very easy to access. There was never a wait even on weekend afternoons. The lap pool was my favorite part - clean and calm. There was some miscommunication between the lobby and the store, as one said there is no reservation system but there in fact was. But even when told all the lanes were fully reserved, more than half weren't in use. Parking is a bit of a hassle; for non-members it's definitely not worth it. At the time of visit, the parking machine wasn't working. There are also sperate elevators for parking vs the athletic club / hotel area which was a little confusing. The stair numbers also didn't coordinate the best with actual level.

Most of the time it's ok, however some machines they clearly need more of. For example, the row machine (they have only one of) and pec fly machine (they have two). These you can almost guarantee that there will be a line. Cables. Lines are manageable but there is a bigger issue. Half the time there are literally no attachments. At times there will be say two triceps ropes and a single bar between the 6 cables to share. So, not only not enough variety of attachments (which is also true), but at times literally not enough to even have any kind of attachment on all the cables. I don't know if people take them to the private training area (which is not accessible to normies) or whatever they do with it, but it's very common at this gym and a deal breaker issue, I'd say. Sauna - insanely nasty. Horrible. Feels very unsanitary. I used it twice and both times my freshly washed towel, that I used there to sit on, caught this horrible stink of probably hundreds of peoples' sweats soaked in the wood of the sauna benches. I would've probably caught hepatitis A through Z had I not used the towel (half-joking). Still on the subject of sauna - not necessarily exclusive to this gym, but most people don't know sauna etiquette. They go in, wearing their sweaty shoes and clothes and do freaking sit ups and other crap in there, resulting in all of us sitting in heat and breathing in their stinky body and unwashed sweaty clothes evaporates. To those people, learn some manners and look up sauna etiquette before using it next time, that is nasty and you are just being an a**hole, with all due respect. That is not good for you or anyone around you. To the gym management - maybe print out sauna etiquettes and post them in a few places where sauna users can see? Have rules of use, just like you do for everything else? Overall, not ideal, but compared to some other gyms within walking distance it is at least usable.

I think whether it's worth it really depends on how you use it. If you're just using it like a normal gym, it's obviously way overpriced. But if you actually take advantage of the classes and amenities, it is worth it. The floor Pilates classes are free but the reformer classes are extra. The classes are really high quality with good instructors. For me especially because I hate packing stuff and they provide everything you need for all classes. Even for yoga, you don't have to bring anything. You just show up and they have mats, bolsters, blankets, and everything is clean and ready to go. For me personally, I use it as an escape because I can hit the steam room and take a shower sort of like a spa pass. They provide all the bath products too. I'm not a huge fan of the products themselves, they are drying kind of like hotel products,, but at least they're there, so I don't have to think about packing anything. Another thing is that it removed a lot of barriers because they provide towels, which are always clean and fluffy (and I don't have to wash). I can show up in workout clothes with a water bottle and everything else is provided. As with any gym, though, it's not worth it if you don't actually use it. It's also not a huge social scene, which might be a downside for some people but is an upside for me. I can go work out without worrying about having to talk to people or have awkward interactions around equipment. There aren't tons of people taking selfies or clogging up machines and walkways. It also doesn't get super crowded, which I think is partly because of the price point. Those are all huge pluses for me, but I'm on the more introverted side and just trying to work out, not update my social media or make new friends at the gym. I'm basically paying to remove barriers that usually prevent me from going to regular gyms, plus the classes are quality. I don't have to wait for equipment or deal with a bunch of little obstacles that make me less likely to go. They validate parking, which is another big plus. Between the parking, classes, towels, showers, and amenities, there are basically no barriers. The customer service is also really good, I've never had an unpleasant interaction on my way in or out at the front desk, so the whole experience is low stress. I used someone's referral code from here when I joined and got a gift shop credit/didn't have to pay the initiation fee. Everyone I know has been able to join without paying the invitation fee, so don't pay it, they will find a way to waive it because they want your business. I used someone else's link from reddit, but it got taken down. It got the fee waived and I got a credit, so I'm posting my link in case it helps someone else. https://equinox.com/referrals/003A000001TO5GKIA1 Bottom line is it's worth it if it actually gets you to go or you're already paying for classes somewhere else. If you're already paying for yoga classes somewhere else, that's probably close to $100 a month by itself, and you usually don't get all the extra amenities. For me, the biggest value is that it removes barriers and makes it easy and low stress so I don't avoid it. Having everything provided and not having to plan or prepare makes me much more likely to go consistently and yeah, I could save money and go somewhere else, but I wouldn't go, thus my Equinox membership.

This would be my 3rd time coming as a guest. I wanted to show her how I do my kettlebell workout. I am not a professional trainer. I do not work in the fitness industry. I am just someone who likes to stay in shape and I am not a part of any Gym. My Gf is a personal trainer for a living. We started to work out with kettlebells, and I stood of to the side and helped her. Within 5 minutes a manager comes over and says" you are not allowed to do personal training" I said," what does it need to look like so it will not appear to be personal training. I am not training her." The Manager said" if you work out together, doing the same exercise that's ok" So we complied. For the next 45 minutes that is what we did. When we finally got to our last exercise of working out together. The general Manager, Madison Bin,(Super long fake eyelashes) shows up and in a crowded section to let us know we are still engaged in personal training. I asked her," which exercise can you confirm that personal training was going on?" She could not answer. Only to reply" my trainers saw you" Basically, no one saw us and wanted nothing more than to elevate the situation. After escalating the situation in front of their other members, my GF decided to terminate her membership and ask for a refund on the remaining amount. We walk to the lobby and my GF goes to talk to their senior salesman, Benson Frederick. This idiot proceeds to escalate the situation even more by accusing us right away of training and starts to yell at me right away to get out of his office. No discussion. No understanding. Just yelling "get out"! I do not engage with people when they start yelling and I walk out. He would continue to yell and even spell the word "Out" This is how they treat their guest.
