Overall a decent gym, it's fairly maintained, and the staff is friendly. The waiting lines are of intermediate terribleness. Most of the time it's ok, however some machines they clearly need more of. For example, the row machine (they have only one of) and pec fly machine (they have two). These you can almost guarantee that there will be a line. Cables. Lines are manageable but there is a bigger issue. Half the time there are literally no attachments. At times there will be say two triceps ropes and a single bar between the 6 cables to share. So, not only not enough variety of attachments (which is also true), but at times literally not enough to even have any kind of attachment on all the cables. I don't know if people take them to the private training area (which is not accessible to normies) or whatever they do with it, but it's very common at this gym and a deal breaker issue, I'd say. Sauna - insanely nasty. Horrible. Feels very unsanitary. I used it twice and both times my freshly washed towel, that I used there to sit on, caught this horrible stink of probably hundreds of peoples' sweats soaked in the wood of the sauna benches. I would've probably caught hepatitis A through Z had I not used the towel (half-joking). Still on the subject of sauna - not necessarily exclusive to this gym, but most people don't know sauna etiquette. They go in, wearing their sweaty shoes and clothes and do freaking sit ups and other crap in there, resulting in all of us sitting in heat and breathing in their stinky body and unwashed sweaty clothes evaporates. To those people, learn some manners and look up sauna etiquette before using it next time, that is nasty and you are just being an a**hole, with all due respect. That is not good for you or anyone around you. To the gym management - maybe print out sauna etiquettes and post them in a few places where sauna users can see? Have rules of use, just like you do for everything else? Overall, not ideal, but compared to some other gyms within walking distance it is at least usable. read more

Poorly managed location. Manager gives attitude to members. German Roaches in gym. Most of media/tv on treadmill don't work. Poor condition of equipment. No sanitizers provided to member. It is scary to keep up with visits here in flu season as it poorly operated. Focus is on daily sales of membership. Need a new club operator. Hire sales people for new membership and need a new club manager to keep up the daily operations. Members will quit soon and will likely to leave to go other clubs or competitors. 3.5 stars Every January hundreds of people make a resolution to join a gym. The gym is always packed for the first few weeks and by February the attendance starts to dwindle. Exercise has always been a part of my daily routine since I was a teen. Rain or shine, sickness, or health I'm still going to work out. (If I'm sick I use my treadmill at home.) Heck, I even ran when I had a broken arm. I was a regular at this gym when it first opened. The building once was a movie theatre so it's spacious inside. Cardio machines, locker rooms, & showers are upstairs. Downstairs you'll find free weights, weight machines, a room for spin class and another room for fitness classes. There is also an indoor basketball court. The locker rooms are clean. However, a majority of the tvs on the cardio machines no longer work. The parking lot is shared with nearby businesses, so it can be a hassle trying to find parking in the afternoon. The first few months of opening the air conditioner didn't work and it was summer, so it was extra hot upstairs where the cardio machines are. Both reasons led to me to switch to the Pasadena location, where parking is convenient. However, I do come here occasionally on a Saturday morning. Another pet peeve about LA Fitness is that the gyms open at 8 am on the weekends. I wish they opened at 7 am. read more

I have been a member for almost a year, and recently my experience with the Kids Club has been very disappointing. Over the last several visits, I have been repeatedly interrupted during my workout because staff members, particularly Natalie and another employee, have called me out of my gym session multiple times simply because my child was not listening. While I understand that children can sometimes be challenging, I expect Kids Club staff to be able to manage normal child behavior appropriately without constantly interrupting parents unless there is a serious issue. I have also noticed on several occasions that the cleaning staff are being asked to supervise the children. This concerns me because their primary responsibility is cleaning, not childcare, and I question whether this is appropriate or consistent with Kids Club policies. I am paying for a membership that includes access to these services, and I would appreciate clarification on the expectations for staff supervision and how situations involving children are supposed to be handled. I would also like these concerns to be addressed so that members can use the facility without unnecessary interruptions. read more

Got a guest pass Called to make sure if my footwear would be acceptable after telling the girl on the phone I just got the pass and was heading over. Was told "it's fine, see you soon". Walked over and was told my guest pass can't be used the same day by the younger gentleman at the front desk (after the older lady who i assume was the manager gave a 'no' hand signal). I don't think this is listed on the website during checkout, nor do I see this info in the email I am supposed to use to scan in. Asked if there was anything they could do and was advised I can either pay $20 for a day pass or come back tomorrow... no thanks communication could be improved. read more

He is extremely charismatic, says he's not a trainer, but he's very knowledgeable and took the time to explain which machines target which muscles. Better than every gym I've been too. Many of the treadmills "work" but half of them don't incline. They really need to get new machines that work.

Here's what you can expect... Worn out equipment, missing basic equipment like small straight bar for triceps push down or curls. Shortage of handles for cable work 1 pair for 3-4 stations And good luck getting a response from the general manager about anything. She's always "on lunch/on a break "...day or evening . Although, the equipment issues are usually tasks for the"operations" manager... I've been a LA Fitness member for a couple decades+, and I belong to 2 other gyms, as I travel, have homes in other locations. Lower my expectations... problem solved! read more

Very disappointed with the treatment I received at LA Fitness Glendale on Brand Blvd. My monthly membership payment was already paid and active, but because my annual fee charge didn't go through after I lost my debit card, the front desk refused to let me work out even after I explained I would pay it later the same day. The staff and manager were rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. What makes it worse is that after I canceled due to the bad treatment, the cancellation email itself confirmed my membership is still active until 7/4/2026 and that I'm entitled to use the club until that date. read more

Coming here is always such a bummer. No pool. No cold plunge. No steam room. Some machine/bench is always taped-off for repairs. They are also overly territorial about patrons using the personal training workout areas (I've paid $$$$ for the company's trainers in the past, but quit when I kept getting shuffled to new trainers, ruining consistency). They've made it a point to kick me out even when they have no clients or trainers in that space, which I would understand, except it's the only place they have a TRX strap, which I need sometimes. They refuse to purchase one for general use. Maybe because it'll get stolen. That's the other thing: The cable attachments like ropes and handles are *very* difficult to come by. Sometimes they have them at the front desk, but it's still hit or miss. I'd bring my own (I even have a TRX), but then what's the point of paying for a gym if I have to bring my own equipment? Meanwhile, the Planet Fitness just 2 blocks north never has issues holding onto equipment. And they're open 24 hours a day, so I usually end up going there. I come here less and less every month. I usually end up at Universal City (outdoor pool) or Victory Plaza (cold plunge), so I'm only here under very specific circumstances. I've maintained my LA Fitness membership for over 14 years. I've been to most of the locations in LA County, and this is probably 3rd from the bottom. Maybe second worst. Also, the attitude from the other patrons here is annoying. Equinox is up the street, babe. I'm serious when I say it's not like this anywhere else. They have so much space to work with and they're squandering it. Even their employee turnover is noticeable. There really is a need for servicing the machines. Some of them are quite old and with worn padding, sticky weight plates, and ripped rubber grips. I actually noticed a ripped pad stapled back together! The elliptical are ancient and the tv doesn't work on many of them and some just clunk or malfunction. I've been a member for about 10 years and they've been there at least as long as that. There are no wipes to clean the machines so GG. Also, they recently expanded the trainer section, taking away valuable floor space for stretching mats and plyometrics training. I watched them chastise a woman for removing some small equipment from the large area. They also removed the validation machine. read more

I was really optimistic and excited to join this gym, and my mind has been completely changed after just 2 months of being a member. Firstly, the gym is full of people sitting on machines on their phones (some people facetiming even). Most of the treadmill heartrate monitors don't work, and none of them have fans unlike other locations. Second, they have minimal strength training equipment, and they won't let you use any of the more specialized equipment in the personal trainer space (even when nobody is using it) -- mind you, this "specialized equipment" is not that special, and is typically standard equipment that a gym has for everyone to use (like step up platforms). The staff member I spoke to said that she agreed this should be standard equipment and that other locations have this for everyone to use, but that unfortunately "this location has their own rules and way of working." Second -- it seems to me the gym is unnecessarily strict, trying to scam you into paying fees/blindsiding you with extra agreements/obligations (luring you in by calling it "member perks"). I was given a 7 day VIP guest pass to bring my partner to trial the gym, in case she wanted to join with me. I called in advance to see whether anything else was needed, and I was told since we already had the QR code, that we should just come to the front desk to check in when we arrive. We then were told we have to wait for the manager to come over and activate it, and proceeded to wait for 15 min. When I asked again and said we only had limited time to workout, the manager then got up from his desk (10 ft away), and said we can activate the pass now, but we had to come on a "quick orientation" before doing so. I clarified that we already called, and they said with the QR code we should be able to start working out already, but he said that "they have rules". So we followed him on the tour, and asked if we could hurry given our limited time. The tour took another 15 min, and then he brought us to his desk to fill out an entire gym membership agreement (NOT just a waiver form as specified online) and said we had to put down a card. I said this shouldn't be necessary, and again said I already called on the phone to confirm nothing else was needed to use the guest pass, and he interrupted rudely to say "OK, then that'll be $20." I asked why, and he said that if we're not going to follow their rules, then we'd just need to pay for a day pass (which as a side note, $20 for one day is excessive considering a month costs $35..). To avoid extra charges, I agreed to fill out the paperwork, but explicitly asked 5+ times that we would not be charged for a membership if my partner cancelled within the 7 days, and he said there would be no charges over and over again. So I put my card down, my partner signed the agreements, and finally after 45 minutes we went to start working out (by which time we only had 20 minutes to workout). My partner was so put off by how rude the manager Mitch was that she decided to not move forward with even using the 7 day pass anymore, so she called the next day to cancel. We spoke to Mitch on the phone, and he then said we would be charged $20 for the day she came in to workout, since she wasn't signing up for a membership - after EXPLICITLY agreeing that there would be NO CHARGES if she cancelled within the 7 days. After speaking positively about the gym and recommending it to my partner, I was incredibly embarrassed at how much of a disappointment the whole experience was. I will certainly not be recommending it to anyone else. Overall, the staff and ridiculous, deceptive policies of this gym have been the worst I've ever encountered in the 5+ gyms I've signed up for in my life. Doesn't seem worth the money when gyms like 24hour or Planet Fitness have lower costs, nicer staff, and more equipment for you to use. read more

I took a tour here over a month ago and specifically told Kristy not to call me because I was taking multiple tours of gyms and was going to make a decision. So basically if I don't call you, I'm not interested. I saw her write it down work my paperwork. Since then she has called me on multiple occasions with multiple voicemails and now has transferred my paperwork to Nick because now he is calling me and leaving voicemails. What? How is your team allowed and very clearly disrespecting my boundaries? Do you think it will make me want to join your gym? This behavior is not okay. If you're taking a tour and not committed to join- give them a false phone number or be harassed. A big reason I did not want to join this gym, as a mom, is that the kids gym is basically kids just watching TV the whole time while you workout. I totally get that some parents are okay with this but I'm not. The gym seemed fine otherwise but the lack of respect when I communicated a need is not okay. read more

Equipment is scarce. This is a picture taken 13 minutes after being told I couldn't use a piece of equipment from the "training area" by staff (Omar) saying he was using it to train someone. I tried asking front desk for equipment and they said it's out in the gym. Tired of paying my membership that has been increasing over the years and being told I can't utilize what the gym has to offer. LA fitness please fully equip your gym or train your staff to have better customer service. Felt nothing but shame when I came back into Glendale's LA Fitness. Started off my visit checking out the basketball gym, left out, and came back in. This is where they scanned me a 2nd time. I had someone coming to workout with me & I like to refer to myself as Coach when I have ppl workout with me. They told the front I was a coach & they said "You've already checked in 4 time.... No outside coaching, he said you're a trainer. You can't train here, 2 options.. Either you train somewhere else or buy her a membership." I have a guest pass and he said I can't use it because he knows I'm training with my guest... I'm mainly trying to figure out why there was so much push back... But also... WHY DID HE FEEL THE NEED TO NOTE THAT I CHECKED IN 4 TIMES OUT LOUD? I already suffer from Body Dysmorphia & yes I checked in at LA Fitness earlier... However, they scanned me 3 times at GLENDALE.. Why? Because they didn't recognize me when I left and came back. I walked out twice & walked in a total of 3 times... The 3rd time the manager made sure to scan me in and tell me YOU CHECKED IN 4 TIMES ALREADY... WHAT IS THIS? Terrible terrible managements. Customer service is nonexistent this club. Your best recourse, Corporate customer service, is available 7-2p M-F. Not convenient hours for most. But, if that isn't convenient, can you leave your contact for the manager to call you right? According to the front desk staff here... No, they're 'too busy' to call their customer back. On a good note, corporate customer service did the RIGHT thing! and refunded the fees for day use this gym was charging me because I couldn't upgrade my membership while my gym was closed due to to the wildfires and power outages. It shouldn't have been this difficult for anyone, let alone an existing member to begin with! Back to this gym...No one racks their weights. This gym is an absolute mess, even at 5 am when they first open. Don't get me started on the filthy floor and equipment conditions... They don't event have enough 'Olympic bars' for each squat rack and bench. What gym has benches and racks w/out bars? Glendale LA Fitness, that's where. Need a handle or accessory for a cable machine? They're nearly all missing! Overall I would never join this location, and neither should you. Glad I was able to keep my fitness to on track while in town... wish it hadn't been such a migraine. Front desk staff is completely inept. read more
