Upon arriving, my first thought was that I wished I had made a point of visiting much sooner. I had been missing out. We arrived when it opened, and the place was already buzzing with activity. Although it was busy, it never felt crowded. I found a QR code that brought up a map on my phone, which made it easy to navigate the grounds. We started at the Plumeria Festival, where there were plenty of vendors selling plumeria plants and other garden-related items. There was also live music on the main stage and several food trucks. After visiting the festival, we set out to explore the rest of the Arboretum. We saw plenty of wildlife, including peacocks, squirrels, rabbits and even a coyote. The walking trails are relatively easy, and there are plenty of benches where you can stop, rest and take in the surroundings. It was a great way to spend the better part of a day, and I will definitely be going back.

They had food trucks, agua Fresca (the pineapple orange is great ) They had table seating and lawn seating. The atmosphere was great and everyone was friendly and happy. Peacocks were walking about freely and interacting with the people- it was fun We shuttled from Santa Anita Park And it was incredibly nice and simple. I liked the event and will return.

They have gardens you can walk thru and an entire educational center. They have a tortoise you can visit and also offer various events through out the year. My kids loved the exercise equipment (lol). Just watch out for dog poop sometimes people don't pick up after their dogs around the grass areas. Lots of picnic benches!

So before we were going to be turned back, we drove off to the right when we saw a small parking lot. If you continue down on the unpaved road for another 200 meters or so, you get to a bigger parking lot and lots of room to explore! Today there wasn't much snow, but the air was so fresh and so brisk! You can hear the river (St. Antonio Creek) and hike down there fairly easy. There are also a couple hiking trail, the main one going up from the parking lot and turning left. You also pass the river a couple more times, and it is sooo peaceful! We saw a couple guys who had climbing gear, so apparently you can do that too. Happy we found this gem!

My daughter suggested that we go to…read moreThunderfest with her and her husband, Our son-in-law always looks forward to this event, Since it is only a few miles from our house, Thunderfest would make a nice evening out. This takes place in downtown Covina. The main street (Citrus) and a number of side streets are blocked off. All of the classic cars are lined up along both sides of Citrus. Various vendors are located along the side streets, Beer and food is located in Heritage Park. We passed all the signs that announced preferred parking for $10. We found free parking on a street a few blocks away. The walk over was not too bad. Walking down Citrus you pass by all these amazing cars. It is mindboggling how many are here, My son-in-law has been to many car shows like this in Southern California. He says Thunderfest is the best show he has been to. It is absolutely amazing, There were a lot of people on the street but it did not hinder us from walking along and looking at the cars. Everybody seemed to be enjoying the day. There were no people behaving badly. There were a good number of families with small children here. We walked down one of the side streets and looked at some of the vendor booths. They had a stage set up on one of the streets, A band was playing classic Led Zepplin. It sounded pretty good. We went to Heritage Park and got something to drink. They had a number of vendors selling craft beer, They were also selling snacks and carnival type foods. We were here about three hours. We really enjoyed our time here. There was no admission charge. It only costs you if you buy food, drinks or whatever else is being sold.. This is great event and I will definitely go back.

The mansion, built in 1875 and maintained by the Pomona Historical Society, was the home of the one-time "richest man in LA County", Louis Phillips. Tours are conducted by reservation only and as of this writing, can be reserved here: https://www.pomonahistorical.org/phillips-mansion for $15. Our docent, pictured below, gave us many interesting details and pertinent history of the building. The grounds are lovingly maintained; the building itself could be called a "fixer-upper". It's good to see the work in progress and the building does seem to be in good hands. This tour is very highly recommended.

The main goal for the Currier House currently is weatherproofing it from further damage. I hope that the Pomona Historical Society finds success in obtaining funding and the proper skilled craftsmen to restore it again someday.

I really love this garden but today I brought my service dog with me. She was wearing her service…read moredog vest and the guy at the entrance said "no dogs are allowed" despite her wearing a vest that clearly said "service dog". I then told him that she's a service animal and he asked what task she performs as is customary. But once I said her task, he laughed at me and said he had never heard of a dog who "does that". I told him I have a disability that requires her and he eventually let me in. But he had an overall negative rude condescending demeanor and didn't seem to like working there. This was highly triggering for me and actually triggered my CPTSD because it never feels great to have your disability or needs not taken seriously. Not everyone's disability is visible and for it to be laughed at felt very insensitive. It makes me not wanna go there that much in the future now because I know it's always gonna be triggering for me if that worker is there. I couldn't relax the whole time I was there cause I felt so distressed by this.

From the moment you step in, you're surrounded by incredible beauty and tranquility. The gardens are impeccably maintained with so much variety.. stunning rose gardens, one of the largest camellia collections in the world, and the highlight for us was the Japanese Garden. It felt like stepping into another world. We also enjoyed wandering through the oak woodland and catching the beautiful seasonal blooms. Everything was in full glory! We brought the kids and they had a blast riding the little train (super fun and a great way to see more of the grounds). The staff was friendly, the paths are easy to walk, and there are plenty of benches to sit and soak it all in. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing day date, family outing, or even a peaceful solo walk. Admission is reasonable and totally worth it. We'll definitely be back for the special events and different seasons. Highly recommend!

PACIFIC RAILROAD SOCIETY (est 1935) is a tiny museum and one of the oldest rail enthusiast…read moreorganizations in the United States. This railroad stop station museum has thousands of train related historical artifacts from the late 19th to the 20th century and a research library-workstation. The breadth of knowledge visitors can learn is priceless. It is a work-in progress museum. Staff was knowledge about the history of the railroad in the city of San Dimas. Admission is free. Operating hours are most Saturdays from 10-4 pm. Ample of parking space. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. I recommend you visit if you're in the area.
