My front yard sprinkler system needed an overhaul - replace all heads, replace three in-ground valves, move some heads to more optimal positions, fix leaks, and switch out my controller with a new Rachio one I purchased. Joel came out to take a look and provide an estimate after hearing my concerns and doing a walkthrough to diagnose what needed to be fixed. Joel and Sons has now serviced my residential property twice (this month-July 2025 and the first time in July 2022). I have been pleased with their work both times and would not hesitate to have them again if I need them. This time I had them come out to check on the LED yard lighting they installed in 2022 as I was having an issue with the yard lighting controller panel. I also needed the sprinklers checked as some did not seem to be working correctly, and mulch needed to be applied again in the non-grass areas. Additionally, a couple of the shrubs were dying and needed to be removed, and several other shrubs and four small to moderate sized myrtle trees in the back needed trimming. They did a fine job and the bill was a bit over $3K, with 3/4 of that for the purchase and placement of 10 cy of wood mulch. Joel did not charge me until the work was done to my satisfaction. Also, as he was able to correct the problem with the yard controller in just a few minutes on his initial visit to examine the work and prepare an estimate, he did not charge me for that. As they were already working on some large projects for other customers and as my small project was not an emergency, it did take a few weeks to get me scheduled, but it was worth the wait. read more

So after doing my part of saving water from our many years of drought, our once nicely landscaped yard had turned to a more modern upscale crackhouse look. It was time to bring it back to life. On the day of the estimate, Joel himself showed up, great personality, can tell he was very experienced and knowledgeable, showed nothing but professionalism. During the time of work, from start to finish, he got me involved with planning & design, let me choose the color and style of rocks & gravel and kept me informed and updated on all phases of the project. You can't ask for anymore interaction then that, unless you don't like being bothered. When the job was completed, Joel came out and had a last final walk through with me, with instructions on landscaping care and maintenance and answering any questions or concerns that I had. My husband and I moved into our home in 2016 and inherited a very large front lawn with many small shrubs and trees and neither of us have much of a green thumb but we've done what we could to maintain the landscaping. Fast forward 3 years and we noticed some of our grass was slowly dying along with some divets in the lawn due to old and malfunctioning sprinkler heads. So I finally got around to doing some research on a landscaper / sprinkler repair service and narrowed it down to Joel and Sons. I called in and was able to schedule an appointment through the office manager, Kassandra. Joel came and analyzed our lawn and irrigation system and walked me through what needed to be done, shared his knowledge of our landscape with me, and re-programmed our irrigation control panel. He also gave me a rough estimate on the spot prior to his office sending over the proposal, which was helpful. There was a slight mishap in scheduling and communication along the way, however, Joel and his crew were able to make it out a week or so later to replace several sprinkler heads and even found one sprinkler head that caused heavy flooding on one part of our lawn that could have seeped underneath our house. We're glad they caught that and were able to replace the head right away before it caused more damage! It's been a few days since they have completed the work and overall, we are very happy with the services that Joel and Sons provided. I reached out to Joel and Sons to redo my entire irrigation system. However, when Joel came out he said redoing everything wasn't necessary and we only needed to revamp the existing system. This was great news because I have a large property and it would have been a lot more costly. I needed work on my irrigation system because of water waste issues. Joel and his team came out for 2 days and did the work. They changed a bunch of sprinkler heads, added a little irrigation system to my side garden and made it so the sprinklers water efficiently. Not only has my lawn and garden looked better but my water bill is a lot lower. Joel and sons are not only honest but they do great work. The price I paid was not cheap but it was fair and they truly do good work. They also offer a year warranty on their work. I had the work done in March and I wanted to wait to write this review until I had a good amount of time with the revamped irrigation system. I hired Joel & Sons to install pavers in my outdoor space (before and after pictures attached). Before providing an estimate, Joel went to my place to look at the space. I told him that I was thinking of pavers. He provided another option of stamped concrete, which was less expensive. I appreciated it because I wasn't aware of the option. Joel then sent me an estimate with both stamped concrete and pavers. Joel was the first person who gave me an estimate. I honestly didn't have other estimates, but after talking to others who had similar work done, I thought the estimate was fair. After discussing the pros and cons, I ended up going with the pavers. When I told Joel I was ready for the project to start, I was fortunate that the crew was available a few days later on the following Monday. The crew worked 7a-3p from start to finish, meaning that the crew didn't stop the project until it was finished. The crew paid attention to the details, making sure that each paver was level and that the pavers were level as a whole. The project took a little less than 4 days as estimated. After the crew applied the sealer, the finished space was better than I imagined it would be. I highly recommend Joel & Sons. Joel was honest and nice, and the crew did great work! We have been thinking about xeriscaping and re-doing our front yard for multiple years. We solicited multiple quotes and Joel & Sons was one of the more competitive quotes. We had both hardscape and landscape done. For landscape, we chose to remove our existing dead grass and replace with drought-tolerant/native plants, with an intermix of decomposed granite, rock, and mulch. The landscape included a new drip irrigation system and some wired lighting. For hardscape, we wanted to extend our driveway (since our city doesn't allow street parking), repair some damaged drain lines from the backyard, repair an existing wall, and extend an existing brick pad near the house. Joel had a great sense of design and practicality, and we trusted him throughout the entire process. Joel's crew came out twice to complete the entire job. Once to do the landscape portion, and a second time to do the hardscape. Both crews were always on time, and very professional and courteous.
