I was here for a party hosted by my work and I was very impressed with the venue. The decor was beautiful and the space was a good size for the event. The food was excellent and served quickly. My only negative was that the bar was not well-stocked on this particular night, and this might be because there were several other events going on in other rooms. Fantastic country club in Plano! Both courses are great in their own way. The Queens course is a little shorter, but requires precision off the tee as it is pretty tight. Hole 18 is a very tough finishing hole. The Kings course allows for more drivers off the tee, but again, you have to know where you can miss as hitting it in the wrong spot can lead to an easy double bogey. While the courses are strong, the clubhouse is great and the social aspect is even better. Indeed, the social scene at Gleneagles is what really separates the club from other clubs in the area. Highly recommend joining if you are able. read more

Worst place to work In!!! The people that has been there for over 25 years are getting D for their AGE after they have served for so many years. They pay them $14 (being there 30 years) also the club might look so beautiful on the outside and restaurants but the place is full of Rats They are cheap because they hire illegal workers!! My sister had a small [covid-19] wedding and reception at Glen Eagles and it was perfect! The room was the right size for our group (around 50, just family) and all the servers were wonderful. From the bartender (Willy?) to the banquet servers, to the banquet caption, everyone was friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was good (especially the hummus) and the drinks were even better. We were able to go outside and take pictures near the golf course or go out on the patio upstairs. I highly recommend this club for a wedding or an event or any size. read more

Let me be honest right up front: my husband and I are MEMBERS of Invited (f/k/a Club Corp) - albeit in a different city. Invited has decided, in its infinite wisdom (ha!) it is now a good idea at their "signature" golf courses to require a forecaddie to the tune of $45 plus a required minimum gratuity of $20 PER PLAYER if you are a visiting MEMBER. Because, clearly, already being a member at another Club means you don't understand "Pace of Play" and must be penalized for your lack of knowledge. Heaven forbid the club employ a marshal who does their job. What a friggin' scam! It was just the two of us playing and our forecaddie was a high school senior. Truly a nice kid, but absolutely ZERO assistance in any shape or form. He asked us if we had a range finder because he left his at home. No yardage help. No reading the green help. No ball finding help. No club management. Yet, as a MEMBER, we were forced to pay for this "service". They should be ashamed. All because there needs to be Pace of Play management. And this only applies to visiting MEMBERS who already understand the rules and etiquette of the game. To top it off, the Queen's course is in the worst shape we've ever seen it. Don't mind paying the "extras" if we actually received the service. We didn't. read more

Be Aware - after 12 years of being members we cancelled our membership - we could not longer overlook the decline of the club and management. GM Bryant is dishonest (will 'promise' something then not honor his word), tennis coordinator, Henry, has 'unspoken rules' for teams and does not honor his word, newly hired membership coordinator openly defames current and past members, and our last dinner took 1 hour 15 minutes for the food to be served. My Caddie AJ lived up to his name and was a true angel. Made my 18 holes so enjoyable and even provided me with tips on my game. If I were president of the club I would promote him to head pro immediately. It was a beautiful course and and even more beautifully maintained by AJ. I was at the club for a DSC monthly meeting. During these meetings we get feed, sometimes good food, sometimes not so good, however this meal this time was really good. Roast beef with mashed potatoes and green beans, salad and chocolate cake. The beef was just so tender an good, the mashed potatoes were just right and the green beans steamed to perfection. The only drawback was the cake being a little dry. The staff we dealt with were great and respectful, that includes the bartenders. If you like paying for a Mercedes and getting a Buick then Gleneagles is your country club. Based upon the pricing - initiation, monthly dues and normal purchases - you would think you belonged to a high end exclusive country club. Every about Gleneagles is good but not great. The golf courses are good but not great and have not been included in the Texas top 100 for decades. The practice facilities are good but often overcrowded and it can be difficult to find a spot on the range. Hitting off the driving range grass is only allowed on certain days to prevent excess wear and tear. Over time members learn their right to use the golf course and facilities comes second to outside events and tournaments. The food is good but not on par with local restaurants. Entertainment and social events are generally good but nothing special. Gleneagles is part of Club Corp and subject to the financial goals of a large corporation. Despite being one of the most profitable clubs in the Club Corp chain, prices for dues and other services are constantly rising. Referring to Club Corp, one former food & beverage employee stated "The greed of these people is unfathomable." He said in one meeting corporate actually considered the idea of charging for condiments. While the idea was ultimately tabled, can you imagine charging for ketchup and mustard was under serious consideration? Having served on the Gleneagles Board of Governors, I know there was little interest in solving problems. There is almost no focus on the member experience and there appears to be a great incentive to sweep problems under the rug. There are many considerations when choosing a country club. Ultimately you stay a member because of the friends you make. Do yourself a favor and choose a different country club than Gleneagles. read more

While the place was beautiful and spacious, the event coordinator was anything but kind and considerate. Trying to contact her on simple questions regarding catering or decorations, which the venue provides, was very challenging. It would take more than a week to receive a response either via email or phone. However, the biggest problem with this venue is when my engagement broke off more than 6 months in advance, due to unforeseeable circumstances, the event coordinator charged my credit card for the $3,000 cancellation fee while we were still in the middle of negotiations. I feel like this situation was handled unprofessionally and insensitively. They were more concerned with making a buck off of an unfortunate situation rather than having any kind of compassion. read more

While traveling east on Park Blvd, a golf ball from the course hit my car, very hard. Almost startling. I drove to the clubhouse and spoke with the manager. They will not take responsibility for the damage or mention the names of the players who may have damaged my car. They offered me a free lunch. (rolling my eyes). I have $1,500 in damages. For this I will have to file with small claims court. I've been speaking with other individuals who've had similar experiences from the (negligence) of golf balls hitting other property originating from Glen Eagle. I will also be contacting the town to discuss what can be done to prevent this from happening. These golf balls can seriously harm a by-passer, or even kill someone on Park Blvd. I was lucky enough to be missed, with my vehicle taking the hit. I would like to hear back from Glen Eagle, and what they're going to do to resolve this issue. It seems to be more of a common occurrence than I was led on to believe. read more

This review is for the Club as a wedding venue. Let me start by saying I think the wedding industry is a sham. Just about 99% of the time, vendors are more than happy to take advantage of your once in a lifetime occasion to charge you truly insane premiums. And then there are vendors who appear affordable, but it turns out that's because their work is not good or customer service is terrible- I learned this the hard way. If my now-husband wasn't so against it, I would've gladly gone to City Hall to avoid this nonsense. Thankfully Gleneagles was none of those things and was exceptional in every way that mattered to me. They do not charge highway robbery rates for anything, they don't require crazy F&B minimums, and unless you have specific needs for your aesthetic, they provide all the basics for a wedding reception (chairs, charger plates, votive candles, silverware, etc.) which helps you save a lot on rentals. You can also source rentals through Gleneagles as a pass-through cost which for me was significantly less than working directly with a rental company/decorator. Their food is top notch. Because my husband and I are SoCal transplants, almost all of our 120 guests were from out of state and it was important to us that they were well fed. After the wedding we had so many guests, unprompted, tell us how great the food was. A few ranked it one of the best, if not the best, wedding food they've ever had. The venue is classic and elegant, not too trendy or modern- it may not be everyone's cup of tea but it was exactly what I was looking for. We booked the entire clubhouse and opted for an indoor ceremony & reception, but all the rooms have easy outdoor access via the patio for guests. Also most of the walls are huge floor to ceiling windows that look out into the expansive golf course from the second floor, so the views are awesome. And last but not least, they have AMAZING customer service. Their staff on the day of was so great and accommodating. And Stephanie was by far the most responsive, attentive, flexible, considerate, and genuine person I worked with throughout my wedding planning process. read more

We just played the tougher of the two Gleneagles' golf courses, The King's Course. Timing is everything when you play any golf course and today our timing was less than optimum. This is an impressive layout right in the middle of Plano, Texas. This course was designed by Devlin/Von Hegge in 1985. They had an $8.5 MM restoration 2 years ago that included installation of MiniVerde grass on the greens. They are surrounded by lots of McMansions here. We were greeted by Shawn who took our clubs and put them on our cart. The pro shop is impressive with enough merchandise to draw this visitor. The dynamic duo of Texas Ian and Tarheel Ian run the pro shop counter in a cordial and efficient manner. The starter was a friendly octogenarian who put us on the tee box straight away. Timing showed up as a negative quickly. They have too many maintenance employees running willy nilly around the course, most with little regard for golfers. I found out that they had a fungus invade the greens here. As a result, most of the greens had large bare areas on the edges of the greens that were a yard wide, two feet long, and an inch and a half deep. They had several crews filling these bare spots with new sod. The crews were all over the holes and kept up a constant chatter. Our shots approaching the greens were deflected or stalled in the bare areas. Another negative was the arbitrary and random selection of Cart Path Only holes without any notice when all fairways were dry at 2 PM. Many of these CPO holes were par 5's. Holes 10, 8, 12, 16, and 18 were also the most difficult with meandering berns all over the fairway. They had an ice and cold towel station at #13. There is a Kings Table snack bar/restroom area that's centrally located at #1, #9, #10, and #18. They had no buns for the hot dogs on this day. Hole 16 was surrounded by lakes on both sides of the fairway and the green was covered with bunkers. Hole #11 is a long par 3 with all carry over a deep gorge from the back tees. The back nine is more difficult with many deep creeks wandering on the fairways. This is a difficult layout under normal circumstances but the distractions caused by the green repair crews and marauding maintenance workers should be an anomaly, I hope. read more

You are not treated as a member (like at most member owned clubs), you are a profit center. Dues are high, and go up every year, regardless of the service levels. Not a great value! read more

Membership Director Kim is one of the rudest people I've ever met. She hung up on me and yelled at me over the phone. She would not give me pricing and was very snobbish. One of her new members told me that she has too many members at the course and due to an over population issue, it is her job to reduce the number of members. This is why she has dramatically increased initiation fees and monthly dues I'm told. read more

Swordfish. 4/5 stars Cooked well, the asparagus was fantastic and not bitter. The potatoes were seasoned well. Salmon. 5/5 stars. Fantastic dish, salmon was cooked perfectly. It cut itself, which was awesome. lobster risotto, was delicious. Lots of plump lobster in a well cooked rice. New york cheesecake: amazing cheese cake that was not too sweet, but not bland. As someone who's not necessarily a fan of country clubs, Glen Eagles impressed me. I was recently a guest at a family wedding, and from start to finish it was a pretty seamless experience. One thing I usually dread at weddings is the food, but it was delicious and I'm still dreaming of the creamy cheesy au gratin potatoes. I could have gone back for seconds and thirds if I wasn't afraid to embarrass myself in front of my new family. The event coordinator was extremely organized and handled this sometimes restless group with finess. Firm in her directions, but still friendly and jovial, she made sure the event ran as smooth as possible. Bartenders were very accommodating, even when I noticed that some of the guests were demanding and often rude. Logistics aside, the outdoor space overlooking a water feature and one of the golf holes is serene and the ideal setting for a quiet ceremony. There's also a quite large patio area so some guests can dine outside if they desire. All in all, a great option for an all-inclusive private event. read more

You know what? At Gleneagles, the staff could give two farts whether you are a member or not. That's the great thing about this place. I've been to plenty of clubs where the staff actually ask if you are a member or nonmember. I can only speak to the tennis part of the club. I have been invited a few times and the members and staff are phenomenal. They really want you to have a good time and enjoy yourself. There are very little restrictions for nonmembers. The courts are great - the don't play too fast or too slow. Every time I've been to play, there are many other courts occupied. It's a hoppin place. The offer drills and lessons to nonmembers at a higher rate, but I know of clubs that do not open up to nonmembers at all. It's a great fun place and should be checked out. Hopefully, I'll be able to become a member in the future!! read more

Our office Christmas party was here a few weeks ago. Beautifully decorated, nice quiet rooms where we didn't hear what was going on in the other parties happening next door or across the hall. The buffet was full of good food and the ice cream sundae bar was a hit. This was a huge improvement over the place we had the party at last year. We went here for a soft run on the new opening of "The Cellar." They have done some over hauling to the restaurant area and it looks very classy. The decor is very beautiful. Kind of an Asian zing with a French twist. The seating area was fun and the bar was very upscale. I was impressed. The staff is phenomenal and we love the our bartender. They did great on the soft run and if they do this well on a soft open they will be even better on the real deal. I had the Sea Bass, highly recommend that. We also tried two appetizers, the Ahi Tuna and Calamari. The Tuna was a great presentation with chips and sauce drizzled over the plate, it was fun to eat. The calamari was the best I have had in a long while. So happy it was not rubbery or hard to eat but just perfect. My husband did the steak and it was not cooked to his liking but since the food was free we didn't ask for another one just passed on it. Our food was free but the highest dish looked to be $35 and drops from there. All great price for a date night or dinner with friends if your going somewhere snazzy. Our waitress kept our drinks coming and we did have to pay for those but it was so worth it. We tried a couple of the bartender specials so don't be afraid to ask him to make you his specialties. read more

I was here today for a networking luncheon. The staff was great. Seems like the catering staff really knows what is going on. The tables were cleared quickly and the salad (that's all that I ate) was spectacular. The dining rooms seemed to be filled with the who's who of Plano (well at least their wives) and the meeting spaces were wonderful. The room that we were in overlooked the golf course and was gorgeous. The valet staff was efficient and quick. All in all it was a great luncheon thanks in great part to the club. **One bad thing...when we were in the room (probably 65 people it was VERY hot in the room. Not sure if the HVAC wasn't working properly or what, however, I broke a sweat. That is what causes this review to lose 2 stars...it is August and was 102...AC has to be in working order. read more

Had to attend a group retreat here and the facility was very nice. The country club itself is very well maintained and beautiful for golfing. The entrance is very easy to get into and offers ample amount of parking as well as valet. The large room we were in was very nice and well maintained. When lunch was served it was very organized and clean. The food was mainly salads and soup, but everything was fresh and tasted good. I wouldn't say the food was great or outstanding, but it was good. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained, my only complaint is the weird latch doors. Overall a great place to have meetings and wedding receptions. read more

We were just here for a convention and I was pretty impressed with the place. The facilities were nice, the location was convenient, and the staff wasn't too stuffy. There wasn't very much parking, but the buildings probably couldn't hold that many people, so it wasn't a huge deal. The thing about country clubs is that their food is either awful or wonderful. This place was hit or miss depending on what you ate. The hors d'oeuvres were pretty good. The focaccia sandwiches were great, the egg rolls were awkward to eat while walking around, but the crab cakes were phenomenal. There was some fish in there and the hubby could only take one bite before he reacted to it, but that just meant more for me. :) The actual dinner was also hit or miss. The caesar salad was made "real" with anchovies in the dressing which meant the hubby also couldn't really eat much of it. Mine was particularly over drenched with dressing and I had to hunt for pieces of lettuce that wasn't sopping wet with the stuff. The rolls were unimpressive and the waitstaff somehow thought it would be smart to put the roll on the entree plate and not on the bread plate. . .that was sitting right next to my plate. The fried chicken was perfection. I know that sounds weird to have fried chicken at a snazzy event, but it was perfect! The rice was good and everything, but I couldn't get enough of the chicken. Yum! The dessert was just not my cup of tea, but I'm not one for sweets. It was a trio of desserts and the only one that I really liked was the chocolate one and I really don't like chocolate if that gives you an idea. I choose Gleneagles for my wedding reception this past December. I could not have been happier! Everything flowed flawlessly from the cocktail hour into the reception. I had many people say the bar tenders where great and there was never a long line (we had about 150 people). The only thing that was not top notch was water refills, a bit slow. We has the prime rib buffet with the mash potato martini station, and I still have family and friends say how good the food was. I also used there recommended DJ and he was also Great (never an empty dance floor and very appropriate)! The staff went above and beyond, not only did the coordinator make it flow flawlessly, they even organized and conducted the entire exit with sparklers, it looked phenomenal! They also packed my husband and I to go boxes with some of all the food and two pieces of brides cake and two pieces of grooms cake and had it along with a bottle of champagne in our get away vehicle, it was a great little surprise! I would recommend Gleneagles to any bride or anyone having a nice event. read more
