For non-golfers, my friend and I had a good time! We hurried after work on August 4, 2016 to get in a round before dark. The course was very diificult for us beginners. We lost lots of balls but had a good time doing it. What made us both laugh was how they get people off the course at closing time. As soon as we heard someone over the loudspeaker say the course is now closed (at 8pm), the sprinklers turned on on all the greens. I was just finishing my last putt when we had to run from the powerful sprinklers. They had to be shooting 30 feet or more. Maybe this happens everywhere. Needless to say, we will make it a point to start earlier to avoid the dreaded sprinklers The course is in good shape. Fees were reasonable. We'll be back. read more

Thomas Frenkestin at The Pro Shop was unwilling to help one get a game. He was not even willing to share the wait time , if it will take one or two or three hours to get a game. Just to be clear i was a single golfer. Thomas let an another single golfer go on Course 1. I asked why not let me join him, he said that golfer was going to join another group! read more

better kept course, fall golf with no leaves around is a plus so you can find your ball. With that being said, their rates are pricier than some munis. $35 for a nine hole twilight hour. I prefer course two over course one. It's a lot nicer. read more

Well, unfortunately SP is back to its old tricks as many of the greens are lost. Huge areas of dead grass and to compound the misery they just punched them. The fairways aren't bad as well as the tee boxes but many of the greens are just unplayable. Avoid this place until they can get the greens back at some point. read more

Played on 9/27/25 and wanted to make a tee time for the following Saturday. I was told that you had to make tee times online that far in advance as in person or tee times over the phone are not taken until Wednesday for Saturday play. I went online right then and paid the $10 fee to book a tee time for Saturday Oct. 4th. For whatever reason the pro at the course insists on keeping a handwritten ledger for tee times. When arriving to the course on the 4th my tee time was not on the ledger. The pro Ronny, which I use that term loosely as he was nowhere near professional, told me that they were very busy and he had to just work us in. I was written in at a later time and on a different course. I showed him my confirmation, and he said that they were very busy and that was all he could do for me. Never apologized or took any responsibility for the error on their part. My playing partners were also confused at check-in and asked if the mix up was because the two tee times were booked under the same last name, but when looking at the ledger, no, we were the only Johnson group. When our fourth arrived, they also inquired about the change and having to pay a fee for a tee time and then it not being honored, Ronny stated that he would work us in. We don't want to be 'worked in' we want the tee time we paid for. When it came time for us to get a cart - no carts available until 10 minutes before your tee time - we were escorted outside by Ronny. I asked what course we were playing as I didn't know what came of him working us in, and he said 'course 2 - I gave you what you asked for'. What we asked for???? You mean what I paid for a week in advance?? Then all of a sudden there was another Johnson group and we were just switched. How convenient, on top of being rude you are also a liar. After the worst interaction with a pro, we proceeded to play a 5-hour round, never saw a marshal and the beverage cart came around once. All in all, I would never recommend anyone play here. The pro is awful, the 8-minute tee times make for a torturous day, and it is a crap shoot if you make it to the handwritten ledger after paying for a tee time online. read more

Our group has SP 1 and 2 in our rotation. We played there yesterday. Just based on yesterday's play, my opinion is they should not have opened that course due to extreme wet condition. It was a muddy mess and we had that in our bags clothes, etc. FIrewheel courses were closed and SP should have done the same. read more

Overall good course in good condition. I played both sides 1 & 2. One is a bit tighter and does not cost as much as 2. I thought 2 was easier and more wide open. The greens on both were fast difficult to get the speed down and difficult to read. The driving range was in good shape and perfect for warm up. The CS was very good and friendly. Overall thumbs up and would play again. We did have one bump but it was justified. One of the groups I was playing with were slow and they were slowing down the course so the marshal got on them. read more

Really not impressed. I used to come here every week but over time I've learned that Firewheel is a MUCH better option. The customer service is really sub-par. The younger guys working there are all kind and courteous. But the more "experienced" gentleman there make Walter Matthau look like Mother Theresa. They treat you like getting a tee time is a privilege and that you're a nuisance, not a customer. If you are finishing your round, even 15 minutes before sundown, you'll have Mr. Grumps roll up to you in a golf cart and rudely "notify" you that you need to get out. Even if you're on your final hole. The greens are almost impossible. The grain is all over the place and they roll anything but true. Again, firewheel (10 minutes away) is so much better. read more

There is no excuse for this. You need to tell people when they are making tee times that your entire course is completely trashed. Doesn't matter if you lower your rate. This is what the fairways looked like today (every single one of them). Are you kidding me? Do you have no idea what this does to your brand? Who mows when the place is soaked 18 times???? When you see that you have destroyed the first hole, how do you do this 17 more times. You need to shut the course down when it's like this. I will never play here again. read more

Worst customer service around. If you want to play a late afternoon/evening round this is not the spot. We're about to tee off on 18 while its still very light outside and the Marshall escorted us and the players on 17 off the course and was a huge douchebag about it. Another time I played here they called us off due to lightning when we were on the 10th hole, we went in to get the rain checks and the guy only did it for 7 holes because "we should have been through 11 holes by then." He only switched it after we questioned it and was not cool about it at all. Course would be a good spot if it wasn't for the old Marshall/pro shop guys that hate their lives. Also the greens roll at like 6's so have fun hitting driver on the greens to get it there. read more

The address here will lead you the wrong way; you'll be on the other side of the course if you use google maps to get you there. I had to drive another 10 minutes just to get to the other side and finally find the pro shop. There are two buildings here when you arrive; they're not labeled. The one on the LEFT is the pro shop. The one on the right is a banquet hall, I think. The pro shop is nice enough - the building is half "restaurant" half pro shop. The pro shop is stocked well enough. The two guys working behind the counter weren't rude, as others here have mentioned, but they definitely had an odd sense of humor. Or something. I couldn't pick up on it but hey, they weren't mean so there's that for ya. I showed up as a single on a busy Saturday morning, and before I could get to the practice green, they had called me back and I was heading out to the first tee. It's a 36-hole facility, which is cool. I was on "Course 2" (nice name, guys!). And for a course I'd never played before, I did pretty well. I shot under 100, which is unusual. The guys I got paired up with were fun and funny and we had a great time talking. The greens here were pretty terrible. A few times I hit my putt dead-on, but it would wobble left and right getting to the hole. They were also super-slow greens. My colleage there told me it's because they use bermuda grass, and it depends on how it's cut, but I don't know. But it was a decent course, and it wasn't that expensive. Oh - gas carts- who still uses those??? That I don't like. BUT still - I had a wonderful time and I'd go back. Plano has a neat little downtown area which is fun to explore if you're looking for food after golf. So, thumbs up for this place! read more

First time to play. Course #1 very challenging but fun coarse. I liked the coarse. Based on the latest weather conditions the coarse and greens are in good standings. I have been golfing here 5 years now. I have run into the old man at the bar before and yes, he was a jerk. I have not seen him in the past year or so, so not sure if he still works there. The other people in the clubhouse are generally nice and pleasant...sometimes they can be a bit short on busier days especially. The courses are great. Great layout, maintenance is always spot on, great muni course. Overall I really enjoy this place. I've been in a few times in the last few months and was very surprised. They all seemed nicer and in good moods which was good to see. Course has been in great shape. Looking forward to playing here this summer especially. Keep it up SP! read more

I've been playing at Sherrill Park for years and consider this my "home" course. Course one is open and allows for more long iron play, course two is tighter, more water hazards and is a good short game challenge. The clubhouse guys are consitantly upbeat and professional. The food court guys are nice and efficient while constantly busy. While I usually play with family and friends it's also nice to match up with other local golfers. Most, like me, know these courses well and are just out to have a good time. Hittem' straight. read more

I played Sherrill Park Course One two days after it reopened after a Feb-Oct shut down for total redesign. It has some rough edges now, of course, but after another growing season it ought to be a 4 or 4.5 star muni. The tee boxes are now wide and flat. The collection areas around the greens are quite nice. The Bermuda doughs are tough as ever so "hit da ball where dey mow da most"! I was afraid they'd removed the tall leaning tree from the center of the 4th fairway to make it play easier but I learned it was hit by lightning and had to go. Most of the redesign improvements are pretty subtle. Looks like the new course will prove to be a nice improvement. read more

I was a regular at this course. Sherrill Park has the worst staff in the history of golf establishments. The pro shop workers are consistently rude, miserable, and have no regard for their customers. There is a crusty old guy behind the grill that judging by the previous comments is a consistent scumbag. His picture is attached. They kicked our group off of the course, didn't provide a refund, and threatened to call the cops if we didn't exit the premises. Incredibly bad in regards to customer service and I will no longer be spending my money there. I would never recommend anyone playing golf there if you want to have a good time. It is nice they have 2 courses to choose from. Neither is in particularly great shape, but it's what you expect in a local muni. I would have given it three stars due to the nice practice area, but... I hate to say it but the oldest guy in the clubhouse (wears a Rolex, may be fake) has been awful each time I met him. My buddy and I played this weekend on both days. When I tried to pay he told me, "I need a minute, get your buddy and your clubs and come back". I told him I was ready and my friend was getting a drink. He said, "I said I need a minute". It seemed like complex work adding another person to the sign in sheet. My friend walked in and he asked him his last name which my friend spelled. He responded, "I can spell". A prior time I asked him if I needed my receipt to show anyone as proof of purchase. He said, "no, but you can't leave it here". The guy has a serious attitude problem. They may not seem like big things when reading them at face value. But there are ways to talk to people and ways to act around customers and this isn't it. It seems that he doesn't subscribe to the "customer is always right philosophy". As we all work in a service industry I've decided it's time to take my money elsewhere. My tip for the old kodger in the pro shop, be nice to people. It isn't that hard. If you want a cheap place to play that isn't in good shape (lot of patchy areas with poor greens) then this is your place. If you can put up with the condescending asshole in the pro shop then this is the place for you. If not, I recommend someplace else. read more

Very rude staff, the course is in terrible shape, and they do not keep up pace of play at all. I understand high demand during quarantine but this is the worst course I've played in my life and the staff being jerks doesn't help one bit. Course 2 was horrible because the holes intertwined with each other so balls are flying everywhere. There were one or two holes that players on the driving range could have easily taken out. However, Course 1 was enjoyable. The upkeep was great and the course was longer than most so it presented a nice challenge. read more

Im torn on what to give this course... I would say closer to 3.5 stars but I guess you guys will only see the 4 star rating. This facility has 2 courses and both are great. When they renovated they turned this course into a great set up. Challenging and rewarding on most holes. The only downfall is that this course is ALWAYS packed. I dont think I remember playing a full round less than 5 hrs. I mean it seems like they have 3 minute interval tee times and jam people in there. I paid about $28 bucks on a weekend which is really cheap for some reason. I recommend this course but bring a cooler of beer because itll be a long day ... read more

I think this is one of the best public courses in the dfw area and it's affordable!! There are 2 courses l, imo course 1 is a little better. The greens are challenging but they were in great shape and had an honest roll. They will also provide you with a cooler with ice for your beer! No complaints! read more

We went there yesterday for our first golf outing this year due to the pandemic. It was terrifying, none of the staff wearing masks, the cart was supposed to be sanitized, but there was still remnants of food in the passenger compartment so we questioned whether anything was done with the cart at all, we wiped it down ourselves to be safe. The place was also packed and only a handful of patrons had masks...the course itself was not in too bad of shape. The threesome behind us were a little rude, hit into us twice, but luckily, lightning came and we only had to deal with it all for 4 holes. We really thought golf was the perfect way to get some exercise, automatic social distancing built in and all...but that is not the case, we will probably stay away from golf until the pandemic is over and definitely from Sherrill until the management team gets a bit stronger and can make everyone feel more comfortable there. read more

As city courses goes this one has some great challenges. I will say that course 1 is very narrow, which brings in the need for you to be able to hit the straight ball. Hook and Slice-a-sauruses will find water and house, both of which are not playable. I went in the late fall so the greens and fairways were a little rough which was to be expected especially with the drought. The course was clean and well maintained other than that. The only drawback is that I think they could update the clubhouse grill a bit. Not a huge concern but maybe more offerings of fresh condiments for the burgers and dogs. Not a huge stickler on dress code adn I saw guys in jeans. It s a fun and economical city course and would be great to get your swing warmed up early in the season. read more

I am done with this place. The guys in the pro shop have no clue about customer service. They threaten to lock your car in the facility overnight if you dont get off the course. Seriously - who does that??? They actually turned sprinklers on before sunset and soaked our cart. They act like they're doing you a favor to let you play. Once while we walked up to the 10th tee, they yelled at as over the PA in front of everybody and accused us of only paying for 9 holes - they were wrong.
