The entry has a huge display case with many sweet treats. One caught my eye, the Oatmeal Caramel Cream Whoopie Pie. Wow lots of flavor, the outer layers have a lot of flavor, love the Oatmeal blend and the Caramel Cream, so much flavor, I should have bought two of them. They also serve breakfast sandwiches and some yummy looking lunch sandwiches such as pastrami, Chipotle Bacon, Avocado and Turkey, Italian and many others. The cashier inside was charming and helpful and the guy making my corn dog was cheerful and also very helpful. Sitting outside under the canopy on a bright spring day was the perfect place to eat my corn dog and scarf up the garlic dill cheddar curds. If you haven't had their cheese curds, you don't know what you're missing! I need to go back sometime to see the cows and their babies and get a tour of their operation. The smallish parking lot was almost full when I arrived a little after 2pm, but most people were shopping for shortbread in the shop section. They have an impressive range of different types and flavors of shortbread on offer here. Reservations are required for afternoon tea, and I would recommend calling as opposed to filling out the email form on the website. I walked in to the cozy tearoom and was quickly seated. The room was cozy and the table set with items from Britain. Additionally, they had nice holiday decorations out, which lent a festive air. Service was very friendly, and we never felt neglected, even when the shop was busy. While I waited for my tea companions, I perused the tea selection. Lots of options, from fruity herbals to traditional black teas. My family soon arrived and our tea orders were taken. I went traditional in my selection of PG Tips (a British black tea blend). Each person received their own teapot, with cozy. The teapots stayed hot the entire time, which was nice. We had sugar cubes and milk to add if so desired. Everyone seemed happy with their tea selection, my niece even finished her teapot of blueberry tea. The tea tower of food came out soon after our teas. The sandwich/savory tier had both cucumber and roast beef sandwiches, along with sausage rolls. All were hearty and delicious, and the bread was soft and fresh, not dried out. A tangy mustard sauce complemented the sausage rolls nicely. Then there were three large scones, one plain and one cranberry. These were served with butter, strawberry jam and cream. The top tier consisted of fruit along with lemon curd, chocolate mousse and cream tarts, each with a shortbread base. All delicious and perfectly sized. Their was more than enough food for us, and I ended up taking quite a bit of the scones and savories home with me. The sweets were the biggest hits with my niece. After the tier was removed and boxed up, one more treat was served. It was a delicious combination of chocolate, whipped cream and a brownie base. It earned a thumbs up from my niece. I grabbed a couple shortbread treats for later on my way out. They were all rich and flavorful, as were the leftovers from the tea itself. This was a wonderful holiday treat, and a friendly and tasty introduction to afternoon tea for my niece. I will be back for some more shortbread and another afternoon tea with friends and family. We placed an order for the "Bavarian Pretzel" appetizer, which was advertised to have a "mustard sauce" with it, and we also paid extra for their "Queso Cheese Dip". The bread itself was quite delicious, but the mustard sauce was just honey mustard salad dressing (disappointing), and the cheese appeared to be melted processed pepper jack cheese. The cheese dip was good with the bread, but we had a lot of dip leftover after the 3 pieces of bread. For a main course, I went with the Spicy Jalapeno Burger, but opted for Crispy Chicken, instead of a hamburger patty. The burger was massive, and consisted of multiple crispy chicken tenders, instead of one large chicken patty -- which is all good, but did make it tricky to eat, as the multiple pieces wanted to slide around. It was very good, but I think I would try the actual burger next time. I chose French fries for my side, and was disappointed that they were "battered" fries, which are not my favorite. The portion was also a little on the skimpy side. I would definitely come back again, even if there are a few small things that keep me from giving top marks.
