My wife and I were out on our date night, and we decided to treat ourselves a little bit and head to Filberts Farmhouse Kitchen. This would be my first stop here and won't be the last. We were taken to our table, which unfortunately was right next to the window on this hot day. That would be our one negative experience at Filberts as it got extremely warm. We ending starting out with the Black Mission Fig Flat Bread. This is black mission figs, goat cheese, a balsamic glaze, diced hazelnuts, bacon, onion marmalade, with herb cream cheese on flat bread. This tasted outstanding! I was pushing for the Steelhead Terrine, but my wife won and the black mission fig flat bread did not disappoint. My wife went with the Mac and Cheese and added prawns. This is tossed with a creamy three cheese sauce, capicola ham, chives, and parmesan cheese. She loved this! I almost ended up having steelhead as you don't see it on the menu much, but I'm a sucker for good Fish and Chips. After looking on Yelp, I knew this is what I would have to get. This is four pieces of crispy beer battered cod, with coleslaw and tartar sauce. I will say this was incredible. I'm always a little nervous when I see a beer batter, just because I don't like when there's a huge layer of greasy beer batter and you lose the flavor of the fish. This was not the case. The batter was light and crispy with not a drop of grease. The cod was fresh, fried perfectly, and pure white. The fries were prepared perfectly as well. If you're a fan of Fish and Chips, just order this. You'll be happy you did. Overall, the food really tasted exceptional. Our service was great as well. Like I said earlier, our only complaint was being seated next to the window on a hot day. However, I would come back if I had to sit in the same place. Well done Filberts Farmhouse Kitcken! They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as event space. I would and they would recommend having a reservation as space is limited. The food came out a bit slow, but sounds like they had some staffing issues in this day. I loved the bread pudding, and deviled eggs. We just had a negative experience at this place. We arrived at 12:30 and were told it would be a 30-40 minute wait. I gave her my number (as requested) and we went outside to wait. We came back 25 minutes later and the same hostess who took our name said "its now a two hour wait." After some questions she repeated that "it will be two hours, so if we want to wait, there will be a table open." After we expressed disappointment, she offered bar stools. We were given a time to wait. We waited. Then we were told it would be two more hours. When we questioned her about what happened, she said a table stayed longer than anticipated. Hence the two hour delay. She offered nothing to make up for the 30 minutes turning into two hours. Knowing that nobody would stay for two hours, there was no choice but to leave. The service was great, the dining room was full on a Saturday but not overly loud and the fish and chips were great. Perfect balance of breading to fish and fried to be nice a light (yes, I just said fried nice and light). They are known for their bread pudding, and while I am not a fan, there was a fan at the table and he enjoyed every bite. Our family did the Easter brunch today, which we were all looking forward to since we've heard so many good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately the experience was a huge disappointment. Most of the food in the buffet was barely warm or cold. The eggs Benedict were hard, the chicken friend steak was definitely a Prepared frozen food item. Not the level of food you'd expect for $55 person. We tried to enjoy the experience as much as possible but even the check out process was a mess. The server charged us for drinks that were included and didn't mention they charged 20% gratuity and 3% to use credit cards to pay. That's $67 for horrible mean with all the extra charges. I absolutely love Filbert's Farmhouse. My mom and I have been coming here for our birthdays for the past few years, and it's something I look forward to every year. The atmosphere has such a charming feel, and the property itself is adorable. The meatloaf is one of my favorite dishes. Who knew meatloaf could be so flavorful and delicious?! We left a pumpkin patch in Aurora and searched for lunch nearby. Filbert's Farmhouse Kitchen came up, so we decided to give it a try. I expected a simple rustic spot. I was wrong. The property is beautiful. Manicured trees. Thoughtful colors. A neat and welcoming parking lot. The exterior set the tone. Inside, marble tabletops, warm lighting, and fine woodwork make it feel elegant without being stiff. We arrived as a party of eight with four kids. Service was superb. Our server kept everything organized, put the kids' orders in first and spelled out d-e-s-s-e-r-t when addressing the adults, handling the table and kiddos with ease. Friendly, professional, and on point from start to finish. The only thing better than his service was his hair. Food matched the setting. We started with farm-style deviled eggs and bruschetta. Both were like having it for the first time. So thoughtful with plating, presentation, and flavor. The kids had grilled cheese with tomato bisque and called it the fanciest version they have ever had. Classic chicken and dumplings delivered pure comfort, just closing your eyes and taking in the aroma transported me back to Mom's house. The baked ricotta manicotti was flavorful, satisfying, and a heart-healthy pick. Dessert sealed it. We shared a trio: flourless chocolate torte that was rich and brownie-like, white chocolate blueberry cobbler cheesecake was a tasty standout, and the pumpkin panna cotta felt light and bright with candied pecans. Had lunch at this place today. Outside, the setting is an old house, with a huge yard for enjoying in the nice months. The inner ambiance was very pleasant, especially in the back dining room, which was like stepping back 100 years. For lunch I had the Cajun Shrimp with ziti pasta, which was excellent. We've been here before and had a great experience, including to celebrate Mother's Day. The Easter brunch buffet is a hard pass though. The buffet was held in the basement which felt like an old dark church basement. The decor and ambiance left a lot to be desired. The buffet was tucked in the corner. The beautiful patio in the 72° weather sadly wasn't being used. The food was good although minimal options for the price. The dessert table was tucked away in a dark corner and a gratuity of 20% was added to our bill for literally no service other than water service (and we had to ask for water refills...). If you wanted anything else to drink, including orange juice for the kids, you had to go up to the "bar" which was a table set up in the corner. They also had mimosas there but they didn't indicate what was included in the $55 adult price. They charged our tween the adult price and we had to ask them to change it. We had a birthday celebration last weekend. Restaurant is delightful and out of 5 dinners one had to be sent back, the steak dinner. It was the most expensive and just not edible. Firstly, I have tried this restaurant many times and most issues persist, so it's not a one off. Starting with making a reservation the night of an auction. We wanted 5 pm, they only had 5:30, so we booked. They called back and said they'd errored and only had 4:30. Ok, not ideal, but ok. So, we get there at 4:30 and most tables were available and did not fill up while we were there. This has always puzzled me? I was taking a friend to dinner and asked for one ticket. We both ordered filets at 52.00 each, both medium. They came out luke warm like they'd been sitting around before being served or the sauce wasn't hot. Mine was total gristle. they were huge and thin and cooked medium well. (I'm used to a filet being thick, tender and lean)The sauce was gross. a tiny lump of mashed potatoes hidden under the meat and some kind of tasteless sauce over all. My friends was somewhat better but still fatty. A horrible meal for the price. Unfortunately not the first time so I am taking the time to write a review. Then the server brings out two checks. I reminded him that I wanted one check and he said, I prefer to do it this way!! What?? I said, well I am paying and as I said, it needs to be one check. so an F for food and a C- for service. I don't recommend. you're better off at the pub down the street if you want to eat in Aurora. read more

Tucked away 3 miles off the I-5 in a small town in Oregon, I'm glad I followed my instincts when I saw the Interstate 5 sign for "Farmhouse Kitchen". Love the beautiful old-fashioned farmhouse vibe. I sat at the bar counter for dinner. I started with the soup of the day, a nice chunky cream of mushroom soup. The soup was garnished with cheese, which made it even creamier and better. I asked Chris the bartender--who was great--his recommendations for a hearty, meaty meal. He says pot roast or meatloaf so I went with the pot roast. What a great choice! Most pot roasts are covered with gravy...this one is swimming in it!!! It was like I was drinking a hearty, chunky soup and I loved every bite of "stew"/"soup". There were huge chunks of tender beef and vegetables which included carrots, onions and celery. Everything was well cooked and was perfect with the rich, abundant gravy. It also came with a great scoop of mashed potatoes. My only concern is the overabundance of carrots, I would've wanted more onions and celery. I wish I had room for dessert...Chris tried to tempt me with made-from-scratch selections like bread pudding, but I was too full. Maybe next time! I highly recommend this place, it's well worth going 1/2 hour south from Portland (or 1/2 hour north from Salem). read more

An amazing classic American cuisine with Glasmann family for tonight's dinner at Filbert's Farmhouse with the best server, Nicole! She made sure all our needs were met! While she served us Marion Berry Lemonade, she also got Dr Pepper for our hold out and got water with ice for us! Great tasting appetizers of deviled eggs and cornbread then Nicole helped us find egg cup holder tray they were delivered on. So unique for Easter coming up!! We moved to entrees of meatloaf and mash potatoes, braised ribs and mash potatoes, pan seared chicken and rice AND classic chicken and dumplings!!! We were in the area for an event and decided to stop in for lunch. Nice place, pretty busy but were able to get seated right away. The stuffed mushrooms came in a lovely cheese sauce that pretty much goes with anything. The deviled eggs are more on the mustard side, but the tasty bacon really adds to them for sure. I'm not sure if I ever had a meatloaf sandwich before but decided it just sounded good, and it was. I really like the nice soft buns they use too. Plus the fries are really good. Although the chicken masala didn't come out as our friend expected he still really enjoyed it and thought it was quite tasty. The cornbread might be hard to eat without a fork, but it was loaded up with butter, honey, and corn, which was a pleasant surprise. Server was friendly and it's overall a nice place. read more

The ambiance was inviting. The food however was a big disappointment. My husband ordered the duck breast and said it was tough. I ordered the special (I think it was the special as I don't see it on the online menu) a filet of beef and it too was tough. This was a splurge for us. I don't usually order the most expensive item on the menu, but we were celebrating our anniversary (41 years!) but I hope this memory of a "meal" fades quickly.
