My mom is currently staying at this facility, and so far we've had a positive experience. The building is clean and well‑maintained, which makes a big difference in creating a comfortable environment. The care staff have been especially kind, patient, and attentive. Glenview Terrace - dinner time!!!! - Rehabilitation Center Near Me - Glenview, Illinois

-- BACKGROUND I was a resident at Glenview Terrace because of a severe balance problem. -- NEUROLOGY APPOINTMENT While living there, I had an appointment with an outside neurologist. During that appointment, he told me something devastating that he found in my medical record -- something previous doctors had never told me. He also discovered that my blood pressure was extremely low and sent me directly to the hospital. -- HOSPITAL EVALUATION At the hospital, a doctor evaluating me asked about my mood. Because of the news I had just received, I told her I was feeling depressed. She concluded that I might be suicidal and admitted me to the psychiatric ward. I told her I was not suicidal -- just temporarily very upset by the diagnosis -- but I was admitted anyway. -- REFUSAL OF READMISSION Near the end of my hospital stay, I was told that Glenview Terrace would not allow me to return. The explanation given to the hospital was that they did not have the staff or facilities to care for me. I still do not understand why that would be the case, since I had never harmed anyone, threatened anyone, or engaged in self-harm. -- TRANSFER TO ANOTHER FACILITY As a result, I had to move to a different facility. -- ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT ADMINISTRATION I later tried to contact the administrator, Rafael Zimmerman, to ask why Glenview Terrace refused to readmit me. I called many times and left multiple voicemails but never received a response. -- CONDITIONS AFTER TRANSFER The facility I was transferred to did not appear to have greater resources. In fact, my situation was worse in some ways because I no longer had access to a therapist for many months after the transfer. I was also separated from the residents and staff relationships I had built at Glenview Terrace, which mattered to me because I have limited support outside the facility. -- MISSING BELONGINGS When my belongings were packed and sent to my new location, several items were missing, including an electric toothbrush that was important to me on a limited budget. I left additional voicemails asking about it but never received a response or replacement. -- OVERALL ASSESSMENT Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Glenview Terrace. read more

Filthy and smelly room. Had a lot of agency RN's on weekends who did the bare minimum. Rosa on days was an exceptional aide though . Food was fair. I don't think they once gave me my IV antibiotic on time and it seems they often infuse the full amount. PT was once a day. My husband said when he went on a tour before I came and was told twice a day pt was given. Plus the room they showed him was very nice. Not like what I ended up in. Horrible experience read more

Warning! Please make sure your loved one is being properly wiped. The CNAs leave feces beyond if they even clean your loved one. Please check for bed sores. Ask them to document every time they move your loved one. Take pictures of their skin before and after. And please don't leave your loved one here. The care is inhumane. read more

Terrible experience! Notice how the photos they loaded here don't show the patient rooms? They are like a third-world prison, dark, with beds and paint that are probably 50 years old. Most of the nurses here did not speak English so you cannot communicate with them. How is that safe?! There were problems with them understanding the doctors orders. Nurses were also not helpful or attentive, it was pretty clear they did not care about patients. Some staff were outright hostile. There was an assistant who was very nice one day. They kept our family member in the bed so they couldn't regain their strength. Then they also all of a sudden told us that they had to kick them out because the insurance was ending, without any real warning to figure out next steps, ridiculous! It is pretty clear this business only cares about making lots of money as cheaply as possible. The outside of the building looks nice as does the entryway, but make sure you visit the patient floor and rooms before putting someone you care about here, I think it will hurt them more than it helps. read more

Absolutely dreadful place, wouldn't recommend anyone go there. I could speak up advocate for myself when I signed myself out early. Older seniors I felt sorry they had no one fighting for them. Food was sub par, fill out menu everyday but it never went to the kitchen. Diet specific and I received fried food, extremely dry chicken breast and no vegetables. Family brought me soup. Place is run like a circus, no one knows what others are doing. Doubled meds that's illegal, English is foreign and CA's look at you with masks under their noses speaking Indi The yelling everywhere in the hallway was added bonus. Absolutely the worst place to be. I put my brother there for rehab and the place is atrocious. Worst personal care, if you can call that. More likely no service at all. My brother had a button to push when he needed assistance, he was lucky if they responded within an hour. Just a totally disorganized poorly run place. The food was gross, it was so bad my brother lost a few pounds and developed bedsores from a total lack of care. The management, or lack of should be fired for their incompetence. This place is understaffed and just plain gross on every level. I cannot believe this place is still in business. Impressed with the facility overall -- it's clean, well-organized, and has a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Although one of the therapists was above average, the rest of Glenview Terrace is not. The facility has had to pay over $100,000 in penalties for neglect and mistakes in the last few years according to Medicare.gov (https://www.medicare.gov/care-compare/details/nursing-home/145268?city=Glenview&state=IL&zipcode=60025). How sad that that makes them "above average" in the USA. This review shows that they have an above average turn over rate for nurses and administrators and a below average amount of time per patient ratio. The food was awful, like many places, flavorless and starchy. Many of the CNAs work for an agency, not Glenview Terrace itself. I started timing response times and while there were times when someone responded within 5 minutes when my mother rang the bell, the norm was 15 and sometimes 25. When I was there and we were waiting for help, the person at the desk would just say, "We're short staffed." Sometimes there'd be people yelling for help and their neighbor would plead for them, to no avail. Few CNAs bother to learn their patients' names. They were in over their heads and had a hard time doing their job well. My relatives who stayed at Alden in Evanston had MUCH better care. My mom's wheelchair there was taped together. CNAs would leave used Depends in the shower for hours after cleaning my mom. I'd have to tidy the bathroom. The public restrooms were often messy - for hours. You should be there when the therapy is going on, otherwise your family member might get 20 rather than 40 minutes. I heard one lady complaining about this and we experienced it once too. After that either my father or I were there during PT/OT time. One day my mom's neighbor requested a transfer to another rehab, which is allowed by the Patient Bill of Rights. I heard the Case Manager shamelessly tell this man that "it'll make me so sad if you leave," and "If you leave, you'll go back to square 1 with your therapy." What manipulation. When my mother was there, the website claimed there were zero COVID cases. Throughout her stay there were 6 cases on her floor and 16 in the building. This message was never updated. read more

Glenview Terrace has gone downhill since my last family member stayed here. I would never send anyone there again. The call lights are answered and then they tell us told they will be there in 5 minutes and it's never 5 minutes, it's 30-45 minutes and longer on the overnight shift. How long is it acceptable to sit in your own waste, waiting for help?! You have to resort to leaving your door open to yell out and hopefully catch someone walking by in the hall to answer the call light. Patients should not be left sitting in a chair for 5 hours because it's not convenient to get them back into bed. I'm all for not letting people stay in bed all day that are not bed bound, but this is ridiculous. The room chair or room wheelchairs do not elevate the legs. My relative related one caregiver telling them "you sit up in chair now until after dinner," when aide was clearly told they wanted to get back to bed. Didn't ask a decisional patient what their wishes were. You cannot be that dismissive. It's disrespectful. Off shift nurse told my family member they are short staffed when we complained about the response time. I believe it as many of the nurses aides self identify as agency = contact workers that they don't have to provide benefits for. Walk in at change of shift and observe them checking in at the front desk as temp workers. Other staff have told me things have gone downhill since this facility was purchase by new ownership 2 years ago. I don't know what the staffing ratio is at Glenview Terrace but it's clearly suboptimal with these poor call light response times. The food is not good. I am not expecting gourmet fare here just something edible. There are some aides that are caring and helpful and the therapy dept. has made progress in my family member's mobility. In balance it has been a frustrating experience. I feel sorry for people who have to live here full time. read more

I went to visit a friend who was there after a hospital stay. I checked in at the front desk and received my visitor pass. My friend was not in her room and I asked a nurse where she was and was told that she was in PT. After an hour another nurse said my friend wil be back in a few minutes. So a half hour later I asked another nurse who said "she's in the hospital"...What!!!! Please don't send your family members there. One Star for the CNA, Admin, and Nursing Staff. The second star is because the PT staff should not be associated with the rest. Here's my review: If you send a loved one to this "care facility", (which I officially do not recommend), be prepared to visit every day in order to make sure the abusive members of the staff are on their best behavior and treat people around them humanely. I know, this is NOT something you should have to do. However, it is what I had to do, and it garnered immediate results after an angry in-person conversation with the Nursing Supervisor on a Sunday... Pro Tip: There are several "types of employees" working here: 1. CNA ("Certified" Nursing Assistants; aka: Not a nurse. This is someone willing to take what is very likely 11 bucks an hour to help your loved one make it to the bathroom in time, and if they don't, they have to clean it up.) - This likely why many (not all) of these staff members are angry, petty, mean, and overall unpleasant. This type of job lures in bullies who like to pick on helpless old people who can't fight back in order to feel superior. Yes, this happened to us at Glenview Terrrace - several times, in fact. 2. Nurses (according to my first hand account), the nurses mostly administer medications and medical care (aka complex medical situations) because they are the only people other than a Dr. who can. In 2 weeks, I never saw a nurse assist a patient to the restroom, lift a dirty tray to take it away, clean or pick up trash, etc. 3. "Other" facility staff, like janitors, cooks, food delivery, etc. 4. Administrators (aka higher-paid salary people who *maybe* work 9am-4pm M-F only and who are "in charge" yet never return calls.) 5. Physical Therapy and other related staff. (These folks are excellent, by the way! I wish all the employees here were as good as Barbara and team.) Here's a description of (the only encounter I allowed to go wrong before stepping in): Button for nurse/bathroom was pressed at 8am. An HOUR went by, no reply. Who, in their right mind, makes ANYONE wait an hour to use the restroom? - Idiots. That's who. - What if it wasn't for something simple? What if it was life threatening? I perish the thought... Guess what happened in that hour? I'll give you ONE guess. Yep, clean-up city. DUH. I got a tearful phone call from my family member describing the entire event, and went over there immediately to rectify the situation. Wioletta, the Nursing Supervisor on duty, blatantly told me that there was not enough staff (here's your notification admins who read Yelp to do PR coverups - this review stays put). Glenview Terrace needs to work on this problem - BIG TIME. I asked: "How may CNA's are on that floor?" = 4. "How many nurses on that floor?" = 4. "How many patients on that floor?" = 46. Okay... next question: "How many patients CANNOT GO TO THE BATHROOM ALONE ON THAT FLOOR?" Every human on Earth does ONE THING when they wake up *ever day*. Guess what that ONE THING is? You understand, I'm sure. This isn't rocket science. I walked around there for 20 days. The answer could be (likely not) up to about HALF, so 23 people. With 8 staff members, (not including PT staff), and with 8 staff members and 23 people who need an assist, that's maybe 3 bathroom assists per person, (not including other staff!), which makes a 1 HOUR BATHROOM WAIT TIME seem like the very stupid amount of time it should never take to handle such a task. SOLUTION: I suggested that Wioletta schedule a PT appointment for my family member every day at 8am. You know what? That SOLVED it. Do you know how I know it worked? I showed up every day at 8am to make sure it was solved. The amazing PT team was there like clockwork, helping my family member with tasks the other staff rightfully should assist with. I should never have had to do that, yet here we are. Hold these "caregivers" accountable. Call the complaint number for the 3rd party investigation in Illinois, and submit an anonymous report if you're a co-worker who witnesses abuse!!: 1-800-2521-4343 Stay Vigilant, Dear Readers - because the mice will always play if the cat is away... especially on the weekends. read more

My mom went to GT with a broken hip. She caught Covid there. She almost died from a heart attack attempting to get a nurse to pay attention to the fact that she could not breathe. The nurse gave her Benadryl. Later that night a new nurse came on duty and had to call an ambulance to send her to the ER. At that time she told my sister to hurry to come see my Mom because she feared she would die. She didn't die that night but she did die 3 weeks later after being diagnosed with severe Covid pneumonia. One part of this that I don't understand is that the new vaccine for Covid became available during the time my mom was at GT. But they never offered it. They had numerous cases of Covid at the facility but did not require masks. And if the first nurse on duty had listened to her when she told him that she couldn't breathe she probably wouldn't have had the heart attack in addition to Covid. My mom said that trying to get help that night was her worst nightmare- seriously. read more

Our mother fell and we had to have a rehabilitation facility take care of her to get her back on her feet. Being that the Glenview Terrace had very high ratings, we had decided to send her there. Being that we are still in the pandemic, she was not allowed visitors so we would call her everyday to try and cheer her up. On one of my phone calls to her as we were saying goodbye, a nurse had walked into the room. We said goodbye, but the phone was not hung up. This woman was yelling at my mother to get up. Speaking to her in tones that you do not speak to any elderly person in. Mind you, she just had surgery 4 days prior. My mother, being the stern person she is, barked back at the nurse and asked her who does she think she was talking to. The nurse actually said to my mother "get your ass up" in her condescending talk. The attitude was horrific. I stood listening in shock to what was happening as she kept yelling and bossing around my mother. My wife had to talk me out of heading over there to destroy the place after what I had overheard. I did call over there after to speak with whom was ever in charge, but they never called me back after my complaint. I called back my mother and let her know what I had heard. We as a family decided to move her out of this facility. My mother also told me about the other patients who were not being taken care of and all you heard was constant yelling for nurses all hours of the day. The patients were neglected. I'm sure the staff were not on their best behavior being that no families were allowed in due to Covid. This review is not for all the nurses, since my mother told me about how nice one or two were to her but the facility as a whole is inexcusable. We have since put her in another rehabilitation facility and her demeanor has changed in the most positive way. Please reconsider if you are sending a loved one to this facility. You and your loved one will sleep much easier at night. RESPONSE TO GLENVIEW TERRACE: Alan- SHE WAS IN YOUR FACILITY. I did call and there was not one call back to anyone of my siblings about the situation. Since we have taken her out of your facility, we have come to find out more wrongdoings. One of the nice nurses was supposed to wash my mothers hair while I'm your care. But because we were transferring her to another facility, you and your staff had told my mother "that because she will no longer be a resident of Glenview Terrace", you were not going to do anything else for her while in your care. Truth be told, if I were to go and meet you at your facility, I would end up leaving in handcuffs. How dare you treat my mother like garbage! Your facility is like an ambulance chaser who only cares about bilking the insurance companies for the maximum amount funds and giving poor care in return. The standard response you gave my review is as weak as the care you give your patients. You are a poor excuse for an administrator and should be terminated. The care was verging on criminal: call buttons that didn't work, heavy narcotics left on a nurses cart unattended, a nurse saying out loud "here comes trouble" as my husband approached the nurses station to track down pain meds that were 3 hours late. And so many more issues! The only saving grace was the PT and OT staff. They were very good. The medical care was horrible! read more

And the saga continued. Glenview Terrace sent my mother home with Covid!! She fell from weakness and was back in the hospital in less than 48 hours. After several days in the hospital she was transferred to a competent rehab. Staff was horrified by her condition and notified me she came in at 89 pounds. She is usually around 120. She had that horrible diaper rash. It took a couple weeks for her to be able to sit up on her own. Oh, and of course no one from Glenview Terrace called about her missing clothes. read more

Worst place you could take a loved one. DONT TAKE THEM HERE. My mother was transferred to Glenview Terrace for Short Term physical therapy. She came from Lutheran General Hospital. She was ambulatory with the aid of a walker. She arrived on 7/27/2022 in the evening. The next morning I was there to see her. I witnessed her receiving her morning medicine. After that she was taken for physical therapy, where she did not respond to commands. She was returned to a wheel chair and I was told to take her outside. She was sitting with her head down in her chest and didn't communicate. Outside I moved her by a table of four Polish speaking physical therapists, since she was from Poland. She said nothing and just sat with her head in her chest, even though they were trying to talk to her. After 1 hour I took her back to her room and asked for help putting her to bed. The nurse then checked her vitals and called Code Blue and made us leave the room. I forced them to call paramedics who worked on her for 55 minutes to no avail. She passed. There was negligence on the part of the staff that didn't realize that my mother was in distress. The nurse who gave her the medicine, the 2 therapists that couldn't get her to communicate with them, and the 4 therapists that saw her and tried to communicate with her outside on the patio. Any of them should have seen there was a problem and called for assistance. She probably would have lived. She was given a new medication for High Blood Pressure that she had never taken before. They should have watched her to see if that was causing an issue. Obviously it did. read more

I came to Glenview Terrace after spending several weeks in the hospital, where I was treated for multiple medical issues. Due to lack of mobility, and previously being disabled, it was recommended that I receive Physical & Occupational Therapy prior to returning home safely where I live independently. Glenview Terrace was recommended for ongoing Physical &à Occupational Therapy. The recommendation was "spot on". My Physical & Occupational Teams were excellent. The Wound Care Team is exceptional. My CNAs, including Marietta & Ola, & others whose names escape me provided great care. The Nursing Supervisors Jude & the Night Nursing Supervisor helped me with issues I identified I needed help with. The Administrative Manager, Melissa, worked tirelessly to help me with issues I identified I needed help with. As a retired RN in the State of Illinois for over 40 years, I would recommend Glenview Terrace to any patient requiring post hospital care prior to returning home. read more

I was very happy with the facility overall from the time I was admitted to the time I left (3 weeks post emergency surgery). The admissions lady was courteous and took her time to answer all my questions clearly. The support staff took care of my every need, especially Emilio. He was there for me when I needed him. I really appreciated that. The nurses were also kind and attentive. The food was excellent. Meals were timely. Loved how the nutritionist asked what I liked and needed. The laundry department cleaned my clothes very well with a great turnaround. Special shoutout to the wound guy, Director 'slick' Nick. I don't know what I would do without his knowledge and guidance. He showed me how to learn how to do for myself from day one. Very good at what he does, even helped me take showers and really made me feel comfortable. Really, really great guy. I also loved the therapy staff: Ladda and Paul. Paul would get my day off with a bang. He kept me motivated and focused on getting better every day. I love Ladda to death; she changed my life! She kept me motivated and drove me to push myself farther than I thought I could ever go. She is an asset to the therapy program. I love her to the end :) read more

I, actually, planned to be in another facility for Hip Replacement rehabilitation and was pleasantly surprised with service, professional knowledge and overall service I got. The team is kind, polite, with desire and ability to provide high level professional service 24/7 at any level starting from management. They spent time to find an appropriate accommodation for me and I was pleased to see how it was done. Physical Therapy program is very sufficient and Physical Therapist which provided service for me is amazing - knowledgeable, quick, polite, efficient. I like food selection and quality. Nurse and Cleaning teams members have their job precise, on timely manner. All are smiling and make to feel like home. As a person who get the service I'd recommend this place to everyone. read more

My family member did not have a good experience here. They are very "top heavy" with their staffing on the administrative end and not enough nurses and CNA's for patients. Quality of care generally determined by who is caring for your loved one with evening shift being the worst. Rehabbing (short-term) patients cannot join in community activities and if their stay is an extended one it can get depressing for them. If your family member needs more of a 1:1 assist, they are not adequately staffed for that. Despite near daily visits by family members rotating communication related to my family member by the staff was extremely poor. We never found out my family member had a pressure ulcer until we saw they changed the bed and asked about it. This is something we really should have been informed about. The patient care manager / liaison is very nice and tried to address some of our issue but only so much can be done when staffing is so short. The physical therapy department is good, thus the extra star. All the above being said, it is sadly one of the "better" assisted facilities out there. Really a reflection of how broken the system is, with the population aging as it is....it is a real concern for families over the coming years. read more

I am still wondering if my brother is alive. I have called several times, and been put through to the nurse station. The first time they answered and said something about him calling me. The second time noone picked up so the receptionist put me through to the nursing center. They left a message saying no one was available, but leave my phone number and they would call back. Two days have passed and no call back. I am not wanting to complain, but my brother's cell phone seems not to be working so it's been over two weeks, and it would be nice to everything is OK. Still no reply. The building does look nice, and the photos like nice, but it's not the building I am concerned about, but my brother. read more

Staff is absolutely excellent ... facility needs a facelift! My hub stayed at Glenview Terrace last month for a week of Rehab after a serious back surgery. Despite some of the reviews to the contrary, the nurses, Physician's Assistant, senior staff, PT, OT and CNAs at GT are absolutely great. He got excellent care ... and was routinely asked if they could do something more. He needed help in the middle of one of the nights there, and a nurse and then CNA came immediately to care for him - bit a moment of waiting. Only issue is the decor is a bit worn around the edges. The outdoor patio is gorgeous, but compared to other brand new area facilities, at first impression the space itself does not measure up to the great care they provide. Needs a bit of a remodel. Despite this issue, care of course is the very most important. It was the best, especially Nurses Ray and Jane! read more

Wonderful care. From Natalie in admissions who goes over and above to help to the nurses . One nurse was as amazing as the other. As busy as they are they never made my relative wait for help. They were compassionate and very knowledgeable. The CNA's were the best . They always came when she rang the bell and never made my relative feel like a bother. We recently had a family member receive rehab here following a major surgery. As a family we were very concerned about covid and wanted the best care possible in their fragile condition. The team at Glenview Terrace went above and beyond to ensure we recieved exceptional care. They took every precaution to ensure their safety and now a few weeks later we have our family back together happy and healthy. Have had a lot of experience with this place through family members being there. Would not recommend Nursing staff is very slow to respond for example especially with elderly people and bathroom needs The nurse button was pushed. After 15 minutes no one came. I had to go out and get someone What if that patient needed medical attention. How long would they have to wait? After assisting the patient back to bed from a chair the patient was uncomfortable and the pt person tried to move them. The patient told him two people were needed. The pt person said I'll do it. It will take the nurses to long to respond They also have somewhat exposed wires in patient rooms I know there are worse places but if you put a family meet here. Make sure you stay. Other instances were again the nurse button requesting medication that came much too late and pain got ahead of itself Today. August 7 they could not even get the patients meals straight. Delivers wrong meals to patients even though clearly marked Fellow in charge said short staffed on weekends Funny. I guess the patients do not need the same amount of care on weekends read more

These stars are not so much for the food. But everything else deserves all of them. I had a hip removal and ended up here for close to 4 months. I don't know how to express my feelings about my stay here. I am not able to walk, so it's the bed or a wheelchair. My family and I spent Thanksgiving here. They brought all of the food in, including a table. We carved the turkey and a ham table side. I had a party for my wife in her birthday. We brought in food for this. A couple days later it was my anniversary, you guessed it, we ordered in Chinese food. Like I said, before if you need a place for rehab this is it on the NorthShore. PT AAA+ OPT AAA+ Service and Support all deserve 5 stars. I can't walk, I can't bath, I have to be helped with almost every daily function. I am giving them the biggest thank you one can give. I am now home with a new hip and in recovering mode. read more

This place is just amazing!!!!..I was there because I had my knee replaced and wanted to get physical therapy in as fast as I could and when I visited before the surgery I was very impressed with the friendliest of this place and All it had to offer... Meals were great and if you didn't like what was served there was an alternative menu to choose from. My therapist was fantastic.. Really knew what I needed to do day after day for me to get. Y knee back in shape after the surgery. And she was very gentle and understanding but at the same time had a way to make sure I did what I needed to do so as to walk correctly after my surgery. Nurses have a heart.. Really very concerned about you and how you are feeling and how to make you comfortable. So helpful!! I will definitely go back again when I do my next knee surgery..
