THE 5 STARS ARE FOR PHYSICAL THERAPY ONLY!!! My Mother had Elisabeth. Very helpful, loving and sweet woman. My Mom has grown LEAPS AND BOUNDS since, she's been here. She had a Double Knee replacement and almost three weeks later she is borderline Cane ready! It's phenomenal. As for the Nurses Aids, They are VERY Lazy. Not accommodating. They almost looked bothered when you call them in. The "Concierage" is a JOKE. If you can find them....there's not much they can do about anything. I at one point called to speak to my mother and THEY COULDN'T FIND HER!! The Food. They give them a menu....where they can "order" they are literally given whatever they are given. They wait for the person to open the plate before they deny the food. Also there is no consistency. The person next to you will have a completely different meal. The quality of the food is horrifying. If you come at all come, for the therapists....that's the only thing I recommend. read more

This is not a place to come for rehabilitation. They are slow to resolve problems. My sister was here for several weeks. The OT and PT was minimal. My sister required her legs be wrapped every morning. They kept forgetting despite many discussions with staff and administration. My sister had a roommate with dementia issues that kept her up for nights. It took three sleepless nights before they moved my sister. Care was not very good. read more

My father has been here for more than a month. One of the cleanest facilities you will ever experience. All the staff are friendly and he is being well taken care of. Of course he wants to go home. But he can argue about the care and the quality of the facility. read more

I arrived at Glenview Terrace for rehab about 3pm and left that day at 8:30pm. Here's why: 1) Staff did not respond in a timely manner to the call button. Fortunately my husband came to visit and took me to the bathroom. 2) The bathroom was dirty (raised toilet stained, a damp rag in the shower floor, toilet paper on floor, wastebasket not emptied). My roommate and I were admitted at about the same time, and I do not think she could have made all this mess. 3) There was no process for ordering meals from the menu and getting them. As the hour grew later my husband was told (after inquiring) that I should order at 5:30 and would be served at 6:00. Sometime after 6:00 a dinner was delivered which I had not ordered. I asked that it be returned and said I was waiting for someone to take my order. I was then told I should have ordered earlier (how?) Later I was told that someone from Admissions (??????????) was going to come and discuss ordering food. When my family took me home at 8:30, no one had arrived from Admissions or anywhere to allow me to order food. read more

My best girlfriend, unfortunately, has to be here. It can take staff up to an hour to respond to the call button. Ridiculous. (She is bed ridden on top of it) Meals are given at all different times, thus if you have PT scheduled, you can forget going, because you'll still be waiting to be fed. Then they have to reschedule PT. What is VERY disheartening is she can not call long distance! I have never, never heard of a place where you can not call long distance. SHAME ON THEM!!! She has friends and family who are out of state, and they can only call her, she can not call them. PATHETIC. (No, she does not have a cell phone) read more

My mother was discharged on a Saturday, I had to go back 2 separate times to pick up the medications they failed to pack up. The heads there don't know what the hands are doing and visa versa. read more

I agree the nurses are great and physical therapist are good too. But the CNA are so so they seemed bothered when ask them for something. As far as food goes I think decent quality everything made from fresh besides the mash potatoes, and they do special request you have to ask for it ahead time to the CNA they will contact the food and beverage manger and make the request for that meal. read more

Thank you to the entire team at Glenview Terrance for their excellent care, support, kindness, and professionalism. My significant other was admitted to Glenview Terrace twice, the first time for sub-acute rehabilitation after a stroke and the second time for rehabilitation after complications from seizures. During his first stay, which was approximately eight months. He received excellent rehabilitation services from the therapy team. The nurses, doctors, and CNA staff were all very attentive and instrumental to his recovery. We were able to rest at night, knowing he was receiving quality care. Unfortunately, about a year after his first discharge from Glenview, he again required admission into a sub-acute rehab facility. We chose to bring him back to Glenview Terrace because of our previous experience. I should add he required considerable care and attention during both of his rehabilitation stays. We always felt we were a team working together (our family and our extended family, the Glenview Terrace team) as he continued on his road to recovery. I am pleased to share that he continues to improve daily, and his time at Glenview Terrace gave him the strong foundation he needed to continue his rehabilitation. He is starting his second acute rehabilitation at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab very soon. A very special thank you to the team at Glenview Terrace; there are too many names to mention them all, but rest assured, I probably interacted with almost every person who works there. My father went here for rehab from a broken hip. He was placed on the second floor. A concierge welcomed him on his first day, his roommate and spouse were friendly; I thought this would be a good place for him. However, reality soon set in. Dad was on a puree diet with thickened liquids; the first meal they brought him had regular coffee, juice and soup with chunks in it. He also was frail and weak from age and hip surgery and could not walk to the bathroom on his own. The first time he needed assistance to the bathroom, the nurse said she was too busy; just let him go in the bed and she'd clean it up later. As the kitchen is kosher, the food is extremely salty and there were no alternatives. I spoke with the dietary manager about adjustments; they listened politely and said they would review it; however no changes were ever implemented. The best interaction came later on, the dietary manager called me to discuss Dad's meal needs, several weeks after I had moved dad out of there. The CNA's did not speak English well; very difficult to communicate with them; was never sure if they understood what I was saying. The halls were always crowded with patients; staff was always frantically running around; very hectic, disorganized and unsettling place to be. One resident came up to me, a complete stranger, to tell me how awful the place was. At the time, I wasn't sure if it was the resident or the place, but I soon learned the truth. When it came time to discharge Dad, the CNA's had trouble getting him dressed; papers weren't ready; no one on the floor knew about the discharge; transportation had not been arranged for, etc. Glenview Terrace is not a place I would recommend for your loved one's care. read more

My sister was here. I was in the room with her and had her ring the buzzer for help going to the bathroom. It took 30 minutes for a CNA to arrive and when he came in instead of asking what the problem was, he simply TURNED OFF the light and walked back out while ignoring both my sister and I!? Really!? Did the light just turn on by itself? I ran after him and asked if it was normal to do that. Just imagine if I wasn't there. Geez. Also, my sister had mysterious bruises on her arms. Not good. Another thing, almost all the clothing she had with her is MISSING. NOT GOOD! Last but not least the third floor STINKS! The smell of urine and feces is DISGUSTING up there. GROSS! read more

I Had HIP surgery June 0f 2019. My rehab went very well,but food was horrible. I know when you go for therapy a few times a day you work up an appetite. If you saw some of the things,especially "The green,very greasey hamburger" Your appetitie would change. I would have family bring food to you or if you can order food,have delivered to you. when I have my knees done,I will get groceries before hand and have someone bring them to me.!!!!!! My husband resides at Glenview Terrace, having suffered a stroke that left him disabled, requiring 24-hour nursing care. We are very happy with the care he receives and have come to know the staff well - they are kind and compassionate. The facility is spotlessly clean and there are ongoing renovations to update the decor. It is convenient to have the Teddy Kossof salon on the premises. Glenview Terrace has a homey feel - not like much larger facilities that have an institutional atmosphere. It's close to our home in Northbrook so visits are easy for me and my children. read more

Due to changes in insurance this is our 3rd experience with a nursing home over the years. This is the first time I have felt the need to warn people about a facility. Although the facility gives the impression of being well maintained through it's decor I currently have concerns about the care my mother is getting. First, they lost my mother's teeth; I'm guessing she took them out and placed them on the food tray and they were thrown out. Yesterday, a week later I was there during lunch and they were serving her a piece of chicken breast, green beans and cubed peaches. All of which she can not eat. We were told that they had modified the menu to accommodate the fact that she now has no teeth - only because I was there and expressed my dissatisfaction did they bring in plates of food that had been prepared appropriately for an individual with no teeth. The fact that they lost the teeth has still not been addressed. At this same visit my mother expressed the need to have a BM and wanted to use the toilet. One of the staff pushed her to just use the diaper. Again, I expressed my dissatisfaction about the situation and after it getting to the point that I almost had to help her myself; they accommodated her request. And her IV machine also started alarming because there was air in the line. There were staff right outside her door that were socializing with each other who ignored it. I had to enter the the hallway and request that someone tell the nurse. This was just 1 hour of time. Unfortunately our choices are limited due to which facilities the insurance works with; I am currently looking for other options. read more

My 78 year old mom fell and after surgery, needed rehab. Glenview Terrace was the closest to our house but the reviews scared me. I asked all my neighbors about Glenview Terrace and they said it's a very good place and have lots of experience with it. Dad spent a week in the hospital and three weeks in short term rehab before we moved him to Glenview Terrace. It turned out to be the right move. Everyone from Admissions to the Rehab department to the CNA's to the Nursing and Activities staff, all helped make his stay as best as it could be. He passed away in April and our families thoughts are still of his stay at Glenview. His comfort and care was obviously on our minds but also with the staff at Glenview Terrace. A difficult time for Dad and our family was helped by the care and compassion we experienced during his time there. Having visited over a dozen facilities before deciding on Glenview Terrace, I would recommend them above all the rest. read more

My Mother came into Glenview Terrace for rehab at 94 she physically deteriorated quickly but the staff was always kind and caring. She stayed in their facility until her passing this week. She had developed severe dementia and the staff kept up their kind and caring ways as she moved from rehab to nursing home. She and the facility were always clean and bright. My Mom is there for 2 years. It's like a training ground for unskilled non English speaking types. During business hours everything is buzzing but in the evening the residents lites are on and no aides to be found. I have attended Resident meetings with the administration. They complain about the same things....wrong food for their condition. no help at night to the toilet. Promises galore but nothing changes. Once last month no one showed up for kitchen....residents had soup 3 hours after dinner time. Friendly atmosphere but don't expect much. They moved their billing. I am still waiting 3 week late. What a way to run a business. I asked for the billing person. They told me she isn't here anymore. read more

My brother in law was a recent patient in Hospice care. He was treated with dignity. His bedding was changed daily and thankfully he didn't have to lie in his own urine unlike the treatment he received at another facility. A big thank you to the staff for caring for him until he passed. read more

I recently went to Glenview Terrace after having my spine fused L2 -L5. The experience far exceeded my expectations . The nursing staff, CNA's, housekeeping , administration were all excellent. My rehab therapists and occupation therapist were fabulous , kind and so wonderful preparing me for life at home. I could not recommend GLENIEW TERRACE more highly. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice SHAME ON YOU. Go elsewhere for your rehab people. My mother was there about a year ago, experience was ok. She had to go back this past month, and the situation there has gone from poor to intolerable. PT was good, no complaints here. Food; it was fine when she was there in 2014, but this recent stay it was TERRIBLE. Dry, salty, not what she ordered, I could go on and on, but why bother. CNA staff is just plain lazy. No one speaks English here. Paper work not done on time. Next time she goes elsewhere. read more

I was a patient for rehab Nov 2013, a total hip replacement and I was extremely happy with the service that was rendered.. I was impressed with the rehab facilities and the atmosphere in the rehab room...It is bright and airy and the equipment we used for my rehab was perfect for my circumstance. I had a great tech whom I felt very comfortable with, in the ups and downs of recovery and she always cheered me up when I was feeling the down side of recovery. I also liked that going home was addressed with all the obstacles we don't think about. The room was nice, I was near the window and loved the tree line view....The nurses were great and I had a phenonominal team of CNA's....I never once had to ask twice for anything.....The food was ok....I did some special orders and was accommodated....I am going back for rehab next week for my other hip and saw some unsavoury reviews on here, and I thought with the great experience I had, I needed to address the experience I had...It was so lovely, Im going back! read more

Be cauious of the aids there - disrespectful of human dignity in later years of life. Can't wait to move her. Nurses and teraptists professional - no complaints. But the "aids" to assist patients completely unacceptable to human reverence. Cant' believe their this place still exists. read more

UNFORTUNATELY I WASN'T ABLE TO GIVE ZERO STARS! The good news is the physical therapy staff is wonderful but that is where the good news ends. The facility has a very unprofessional concierge, beware if you contact her with a problem once resolved she makes the rest of your stay very uncomfortable. The nursing staff is lazy, non caring and downright dangerous. The nurse came in to give me my meds and when I looked in the cup there was a capsule I didn't recognize. When I asked the nurse what the capsule was her response was oops wrong cup, she could have killed me! When the nurses come in to give you your meds they don't tell you what they are giving you they just hand you a cup and a glass of water. If you see something in the cup such as a stool softener that you don't need nor want you're told to throw it way. No wonder healthcare costs are spiraling out of control. If the doctor changes your meds stay on your toes to make sure the doctor's orders are carried out. When you push the call button expect to wait 15 to 30 minutes for your nurse. I had an elderly roommate who wore depends, she called for help in the middle of the night to get changed and when I went into the shared washroom 2 hours later the dirty diaper was laying in the middle of the bathroom floor. DISGUSTING! Now for the food, the menu is very limited with not much that even sounded appealing. During my entire stay I never received the correct order and the food was cold, I don't know about you but when I put butter on my vegetables I expect it to melt. After being nauseated for 5 days and unable to eat anything the director came in the afternoon before I was being discharged to find out what she could do to get me something I could eat, at that time she informed me that if I wasn't happy with the menu items they could order out to get me something, nice time to tell me when I only had to make it through 2 more meals. I've been in the facility twice (silly me) and had problems both times. While my roommate was given a comment card for feedback I wasn't offered one for either stay. I stayed at Glenview Terrace and was very disappointed in the care I received. They were severely understaffed, which made it next to impossible to get proper attention from CNAs or nurses. Medications were almost always given late. The rooms were dirty and not well kept, the food was inedible (luckily I was able to have family members bring in my meals) and most of the staff was rude and talked down to you when you had concerns or requests. After being discharged, my wound site became infected and needed more treatment. When I went to see my orthopedic surgeon, he informed me that they did not properly care for and dress my wound, which led to the complications. Prior to my surgery date, I had told my doctor at Illinois Bone and Joint that I would be staying at Glenview Terrace and against his recommendation to pick another facility, I followed through with my reservation. I wish I would have listened to him. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for rehab from a surgery. read more

I recently had my left hip replaced and came here for rehab because of the therapy ctr was great. My stay here was ok, mattress cot was uncomfortable, nurse aides were helpful and cheerful, food was terrible but you could work your way around it and who can't stand to lose pounds ? Don't like what's on the menu ? Order from the alternative menu. I enjoyed fresh fruit all the time, coffee was delish and a free paper was avail every morning. Their cheese omelette was great but other portions were small. Some nites before I learned how things work I had just carrots, fresh from the can, into a pot and served lukewarm. Saute spinach was anything but sauted and either burnt or over salted. Don't fall for the Cauliflower & Chive bisque, it's some cauliflower & garlic powder to the point its ineidible. I had a situation where I came out of the shower & the girl taking vitals came in and immediately took my temp which showed I had a fever. It was probably water in my ear but that has to be reported. My primary doc jumped all over it & ordered urine sample, blood sample & chest x-rays. I know you can get a pizza or a hot dog late at night but chest x-rays till 2am or a phebotamist at 9pm ? I learned something new. Of course it turned out to be nothing and I was in good health. Oh, and they love dishing out pain pills or TB shots. At 6:30am a nurse shows up w a needle for TB. I said I didn't order it, she said "You refuse ?", I refuse !! Still the PT was top notch. read more

The ONLY reason I am giving them one star is for the OT and PT therapy provided. Otherwise, I'd RUN FAR AWAY from this place and take your business elsewhere. The lack of care and responsiveness from the entire staff including the nurses is appalling. My mother was there recovering from a stroke for nearly a month and had the WORST care I've ever seen. On her first day there, the nurse left her alone to get ready. She turned the shower on and left her to finish alone and NEVER came back to make sure she was alright nor apologize. It's extremely disturbing knowing your loved one is in their hands when they are not watching over them the way they should be. We also complained since day 1 that her TV was broken. After almost a month of staying there it was still broken the day she went home. Just to paint a picture - A TV may not sound significant, but when that's ALL you have in a room (dark room with no sunlight) for entertainment during the day/night it's meaningful. Additionally, you put your food orders in for the entire week. My mom NEVER received one meal she ordered accurately. Again, the small things and lack of awareness is disgusting and pitiful. She also asked for a smaller wheel chair from day one as she's a petite lady. The nurses continued to ignore her request and said they didn't have any smaller wheel chairs. It took my mother to fall out of it on her own (when left alone) for me to call and make an issue of this. Lastly, the lack of communication is another huge issue with this place. We stayed on them for a board meeting to understand next steps as my mother had been there for 3 weeks and we never heard any updates or progression notices. We left numerous messages to set this up as this is THEIR main responsibility. I can go on and on about this place but if you can look elsewhere I highly encourage you to do so. They do not care about your family member, they are a money machine who could care less. My advice is to take a tour of this place before putting a family member here to ensure you are comfortable with the rooms and accommodations as the website is EXTREMELY MISLEADING. read more

I recently had knee replacement surgery. My surgeon suggested I go directly home after my two day stay at the hospital and have a visit once a day for 5 to 7 days from a physical therapist. I lobbied for going to Glenview Terrace because I knew about their wonderful therapists. I knew I would get more one-on-one therapy time there. I am so glad I did. In my opinion, you need a coach when you are asked to do painful bending exercises. It is comforting to have a professional who can reassure you that what you are experiencing is normal for this step in your rehab process. Everyone was friendly and encouraging. My father went to Glenview Terrace on 3 occasions, and each time serious errors were made in regard to medications. The nursing care was awful. I had to stand in the hallway for long periods of time after asking for help with my father, waiting for someone to provide assistance. On numerous occasions when my father asked for a urinal, CNA's said, "just pee in the diaper, then we will change you" (in the presence of visiting family)! Staff did not assist him with eating or drinking and he quickly became dehydrated and had to go to the hospital. I called to complain and left a message for the Director of Nursing who never called back. I finally reached the assistant director of nursing to inform her I was having my father transferred due to the horrible care, and she was not interested in learning about what had happened. read more

My mother resided at Glenview Terrace in Glenview for 14 months. Like any facility, a family member or members NEED to be an active participant in the care of their loved one. Our family was not lacking in this area, however, our voiced concerns were brushed aside. The staff and facility-assigned doctor still managed to miss a serious urinary track infection and dehydration, leaving my mother in a near comatose state. My requests for a chest x-ray fell on deaf ears. An elevated blood sugars, of over 500, finally got their attention. The ER doctor confirmed, dehydration, a UTI, and a lesser infection in mom's lung. Really! No one thought to take a urine sample in the weeks my mother was SO tired an lethargic? This is a geriatric facility. My mother's infection was too far along for her body to fight. She died 4 days after entering the hospital. So beware, friendly smiles, activities, and fancy lobbies, are just smoke screens. read more

This is the second time my 92 year old mom has needed the support of Glenview Terrace. The staff is kind, compassionate, and competent and the facility is clean and well staffed with beautiful and peaceful views. We were lucky that they had a bed for my mom both times. Please, I beg you stay away from this place. We were scammed they showed us rosy picture in walk through but when we place our 96 years old father it was completely opposite. Even you don't want your animal to stay there. They gave him a bed probably from 1920's all rusted not only that while he was there only for few hours, he fell and they denied it. He was crying and beg us to take him away from that place and we did. We just couldn't see him in pain and further suffering from that place. I wish there was less than one start rating. My mother has been at Glenview Terrace for over a year. There are many spectrums to this facility, second floor stay is the most difficult for family and staff. Brad works very hard to make this facility what it is. My mom is currently there for a hip replacement. The staff there is horrible, lazy, terrible attitudes, and just don't care about the patients. They have never gotten her meal orders correct. She had to wait 15 miniutes for a CNA to come and help her to her commode. The first excuse was they were busy bringing coffee to patients, and next excuse was they were bringing lunch around. They don't have their priorities straight. The worst is when they have the wrong meds for her. This has happened more than once. I have been in talks with the Director, but that's not going anywhere. I feel bad for anyone who is alone, and has no one to help them. My dad is now spending the nights there with her. If I have to file a formal complaint with the AMA, I will. read more

I was in Glenview Terrace for 3 weeks after hip surgery The physical therapy is superb. I had a caring angel by the name of Juneva, but observed that ALL the PT's were very conscientious. The food was awful - over-salted and desserts had too much sugar, or packaged ones like ice cream and sherbert had high fructose corn syrup and similar. For some reason, for me, the water tasted like dishwater - therefore, the coffee or tea had the same taste. I became dehydrated. From then, I had my daughter bring fresh fruit and bottled water from home. It was an easy way to lose 10 lbs. My CNN's day shift were awesome. Rosa was the best. I never had to wait long for any answer to my limited alerts. Maybe it makes a difference who your doctor is as I did complain to his office after the third day, but I really think staff was prompt for all. The wonderful saving grace is that the therapy room is all windows that give you a view of the awesome, restful garden/trees around the terrace which can also be entered from the adjacent doorways. Every nursing home should have that reprieve, especially for the long term residents. I do approve of Glenview Terrace. read more
