Finally got my Mother out of there after almost 3 months. All they care about is the money. Her insurance was accepted but not for the reason she went in there for which was PHYSICAL THERAPY. After all that time there they never ONCE did P.T.. Such a sad place to be knowing they aren't there for the best interest of your loved one. I know I shouldn't have kept my Mom there that long but I had no choice at the moment. I only give my opinion bc I care for the elderly. read more

The Bella Terra staff is the staff at Belterra is excellent and very conscientious. They take excellent care of the residence.

My father was only a resident of Bella Terra for 2 short days before his passing however, my mother and I were blown away by the care and compassion that everyone showed him. Every person on staff was kind and courteous. They answered all of our questions expertly. We could not have asked for better care for my father's final days. My mother almost died from a host of things steming from kidney failure. After 4 days in the hospital just to be stablized, we needed to find a facility that had in house dialysis, and choose Bella Terra (Morton Grove). Finding any facility to intrust your loved one in a time of need is extremely stressfull, and everyone thinks in the back of their mind, will this be ok, will their loved one get the best care? These are the thoughts that ran thru my mind. I'm truly humbled by the care and attention my mother recieved. KEEP YOUR LOVED ONE AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!!!!! . I don't know how they got 4 stars . This is hell !. Every time I would bring clothes or food for my friend, next day they were stolen . It happened so many times . People are left in their rooms alone , all day long . Entire place smells like urine and poop mixed together. CNA in the evening asked my elderly friend to move to the side and she was not able because of her injuries and she screamed from the pain so he started yelling at her and told her to shut up and to punish her ,left her with the dirty diaper. She told me all about it and I went to talk with the management about it and next they nurse found her face down on the floor. They took her to the hospital but refused to shown me or her husband the hospital records from this " fall " . She got very bad wounds on her bottom because she was not changed often. She supposed to get shower twice per week and got only one shower within 6 weeks . They only washed her because next day was her doctor appointment. Her food was coming soaked in the juice that was spilled on the tray .I decided to change her in the shirt and take her outside and discovered so many bruises on her chest !!!! I was shocked. First they said it was from the medication then that she fell . Not sure what to believe. Everyone accept one CNA named Ole were always mad and unhappy there . They just hated working there and were not nice to this poor elderly people. Do not send your loved one to this Bella Terra in Morton Grove . This place should be permanently closed . Finding health care for your mom after a stroke was very difficult. And it's heart wrenching to have to do this so finding a place that is truth worthy is not an easy task. Just weeks after admitting my mother, Covid-19 started and all nursing homes were on lockdown. My family was in dismay after knowing that our mother would not do great not being able to see her family. But the staff there were phenomenal. We were able to FaceTime her and also go and visit her anytime we wanted of course it was through a window. And she feel so comfortable with them and she calls them her friends. I fell at home in March, 2023, and was rushed to Glenbrook Hospital. After three days I was taken by ambulance to a facility in Skokie. For one nightmare weerk I endured nasty agency people, and a dirty room as my family worked to have me released. My sons investigated other facilities,and we chose Bella Terra. Morton Grove. I was welcomed by their friendly professional staf,and their frequent visits made me relax, and feel secure. I required an air mattress for my injuries,and as soon as the doctor's order came through, it was installed.This allowed me restful sleep for the rest of my month -long stay. My husband,Dr.F , and I were fully apprised of my medical condition and procedures. I was taken to "Bella" by ambulance, but walked out(with my walker) on my own. Thank you nurses Glenda, Louie,and Gina. Thank you Tetresa, my C N A who gave me courage, and took such good care of me, and Thank you, Josie, and therapists for teaching me to walk again.Thank you to the staff for their cheerful demeanor and encouragement. Run as fast as you can. Worst place ever. We decided to bring my mother here after a broken hip. Everything was arranged by the social worker from the hospital. When we arrived, they had no knowledge of us. Huh... how is that possible. So, they proceeded to show us to a room that was obviously occupied by someone else. There was a non-hospital style bed with an IV stand that held liquid food. We arrived in a wheelchair and the nurse asked my mother to get out of the wheelchair and sit on the bed, but we had no walker. She said they are not allowed to give any patients the use of a walker or wheelchair until they are evaluated by a therapist, which can take 24-48 hours. So the nurse borrowed a walker for my mom. Once she was out of the wheelchair and on the bed, the nurse starts to unplug the IV machine and as she was doing so, she tugged at the cord and the whole stand fell on my moms head and hit her on her broken hip. This was all in the first 15 minutes we were there. I already knew this was not going to be good. After that incident, we saw no one for 4 1/2 hours. We waited and waited and waited. A physical therapist came in and walked with my mom briefly. This place was old, carpeting on the floors that were disgusting, horrible furniture, and the one meal she ate was disgusting. I knew we were out of here the next day. I did not appreciate nurse Glenda, who was very reckless and the other nurse John who told us that if we wanted to give our mom her meds, to just let them know so they did not give her the same ones, or the other nurse who came in and referred to my mom as a fresh body. NO WAY WERE WE STAYING HERE. So disgusted and disappointed in this place. I don't feel like this was a safe place for her or anyone else for that matter. She was so scared that night, but thank god we moved her the next day. NOW, everyone has their own experience, and this was ours. Would never recommend this place to anyone, EVER. read more

My loved one was a resident at Bella Terra for over two years. They started in the Rehab unit and later transition to the Memory Care Unit. In complete honesty during that time I did have some challenges with Bella Terra administration and staff. They were understaffed often which was the most significant challenge. However, over time my family and I built relationships with the administration and staff and that helped a lot to improve our experience at Bella Terra. The facility was clean 99% of the time and the nurses and CNAs were good and caring people. Despite the large resident to nurse ratio at Bella Terra, we felt the nurses did a good job caring for our loved one. They would even help the CNAs with toileting if necessary. We would like to recognize the following nurses for providing great care to our loved one. Adriana, Karin, Kathy, Rima, Nicole and Christine. As with most nursing homes, finding good CNA's is very difficult and convincing them to stick around is even more challenging. We were fortunate to work with the same CNA's in the rehab and memory care unit over a two year period. These CNA's showed great care for the residents and often went above and beyond the call of duty. We would like to recognize Penny, Celso, Cheryl, Nancy, Sandere. A special thank you to Rassin, he is the best CNA on earth. His patience and care for the residents is admirable. He takes his job serious and comes in each day to support the residents. He will always have a special place in our heart for the care he provided our loved one. Like most families, we didn't always agree with the Administration at Bella Terra. Yet Administration maintained an open door policy to address complaints and concerns. Over a two year period, we had numerous care plan meetings to address things like medications, diet, exercise, activities and staffing. We would like to thank Anne, Amy, Amy S., Prince, Brittany, and Zara for allowing us to vent and being great resident advocates. They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression. I applauded Bella Terra for having wonderful and caring individuals working the Reception Desk. Diane, Zoha, Vaughn and Diane do an amazing job representing Bella Terra. We have moved our loved one to Arizona to be closer to us and this could not have been done without the initiative and support of Amy Springer, she went beyond the call of duty to ensure our loved one's needs were cared for pre and post transition. My mother in law is currently in this center. We are glad that we picked Bella Terra the care is exceptional From the director of admissions she is so helpful in answering any question we have. The front staff is extremely helpful maintaining the covid protocol and still bring stuff to mom. Rooms are Big and comfortable. My mom loves it so much that she prefer here than stay home by herself. The nutrition department is above and beyond helping with mom diet and nutrition to gain some pounds as she lost it due to her heart condition, Walter and chef prepares foid that she likes, which made her gain 5 lbs. The care committee is so well coordinated they helped so much to connect all the dots to better care for mom. The nurses and contact care team is the true life line for mom, they keep an eye for mom every moment she is there. The PT and OT did fantastic job that she walk 200 feet with some Assistance. The nurse practitioner is so wonderful and detailed oriented, helpful in answering any health related questions I can go on and on Over all I loved this place highly recommend it as they variety in care they provide with such a compassion in their hearts I am planning to enroll my dad on their cognitive center as he has dementia. read more

Bells Terra helped my sister, who has cognitive disabilities, when my family needed a safe space for her to rehabilitate after she was in the hospital and before we moved her to AZ. The staff went above and beyond to meet her needs and understand her. We are so grateful to the case workers, nutritionists, activities planners, nurses and CNAs that responded to Susie with care, compassion and attention. Their staff is knowledgeable, communicates often and worked to include her in daily activities and make sure she got the exercise she needed. I can't say enough good things about this organization. My ex husband went there after suffering two strokes. This facility didn't look bad and due to the covid I wasn't allowed upstairs so I don't know about the facility inside. They did not help him. Instead his iPhone was stolen and a ceramic Christmas tree I brought him just disappeared. It's a mystery. If you send someone there, check on them and their personal belongings often. They should be responsible for these things but it's unlikely anything will be done and they will continue to let this happen. read more

If you are looking for a great nursing home, Bella Terra is the right place! Before I give you the reasons why my mother and I like Bella Terra, Let me express my deepest appreciation to Gabrielle, the Director of Guest Relations who is a wonderful, kind and caring person and one of the great skillful staff member among many at Bella Terra. She would watch for and deliver packages that I send my mother. She would also bring her own hair supplies from home so that she could braid my mother's hair and so much much more. She is being promoted to a new position in the organization and will be greatly missed. When my mother came down with a deadly illness, I had to get on the first plane from the east coast and fly to Chicago. She miraculously recovered but I had 72 hours to find a nursing home in a city I was not familiar with since my mother wanted to stay in Chicago. The first thing I did was go to AARP website https://www.aarp.org/caregiving/basics/info-2019/finding-a-nursing-home.html to find out how to select a nursing home and I took their advice and went to the Medicare rating of nursing homes. I only selected 4 and 5-star facilities. Bella Terra only had 4 stars but I was not impressed with some of the five-star nursing homes because they had few activities, the properties had no place for residents to go outside, and residents were on top of each other. AARP RED FLAGS. I was relieved after finding Bella Terra and that they passed the AARP checklist https://assets.aarp.org/external_sites/caregiving/checklists/checklist_nursingHomes.html with flying colors. I was nervous about making such a big decision but on my third visit, I asked if I could sit in the TV lounge area with the residents. A resident came up to me and ask who I was. When I told her I was searching for a home for my mother. She told me that she had worked in several nursing homes before she retired and Bella Terra was one of the best. That was all that I needed to make the final decision. PROS The staff is very qualified to handle any situation. The way they handle COVID 19 proves that point. I was kept informed and the executive director, Ali, called me personally to give me test results. The doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and CNA's work as a team and are highly qualified. They kept me informed of my mother's condition and alert each other if they notice anything. Bella Terra is within minutes of a great hospital if the situation calls for it. The staff is very caring and friendly. Also, they have fun with the residents and enjoy what they are doing. In some nursing homes I went to, the staff looked as if they were in prison and would not even greet me, an AARP RED FLAG. Dani, the Social Worker along with Mary jo, Maddie- Dietician, Prianka- Physical Therapy, Reymark- Clinical Care Coordinator are excellent in coming together on a regular basis to give me a Care Assessment about every aspect of my mother's condition and to inform me of any changes. Ronald the activities director and his team have been angels during this pandemic by keeping the resident engaged and entertained, not to mention the endless ZOOM calls they provide to keep families connected and going out for take-out lunches for the residents. One of the activities staff members, Jennette, has even offered to go out and buy my mother some clothes on her personal time since my mother lost a lot of weight due to getting COVID. I really appreciate that since I live 814 miles away and I cannot go into the nursing home due to COVID restriction to help my mother. Two more angels I want to mention are Nurses Nida and Maureen who treat my mother as if she was their own mother. They and the other staff member are wonderful. Also, if I have any problems, I can contact the executive director, Ali, and she will come up with a solution. I can go on & on about the pros but do what AARP says & pay Bella Terra a visit. I want to leave you with what the Assistant Nursing Director Daniel did for my mother. There was an expensive medication treatment that wasn't covered by my mother's insurance. I was challenged with getting the funds along with all my mother's other expenses. Nurse Daniel came back and told me not to worry about it Bella Terra would cover the cost. I really appreciate him for doing that for us. CONS My biggest problem with not just Bella Terra but all nursing homes is their in-house beautician do not know how to braid. I was happy that the nursing facility had a beauty parlor but once my mother became a resident and I went to see the beautician about setting up an appointment, she said she does not braid. I was shocked. Luckily, there were staff members, Happiness, a CNA, and Gabrielle who did it but they are gone. Corporations that run nursing homes should hire beautician for their in-house beauty parlors who can braid as well as wash, rinse, and style hair. Besides that BT is great. I am offended. I see someone named Katy who says they're from Bella Terra, has responded, but this person is NOT a real staff person at Bella Terra. The place is still a hell hole no one should trust and the fact they would try to seem as if they care by putting a pretty face on their response here shows they would do anything to seem above board. I'm still dissatisfied and I have not seen any change in the things I have commented on in my review. Bella Terra is just one of Legacy's nursing homes, but what I know about the company, ALL of the facilities need to be put out of operation or placed in the hands of more capable operators. Bella Terra does not deserve the consideration or the cash of any patient, their family, or any governmental entity that would pay for the health, safety, and well being of another human being. read more

Iffy treatment and services. Some staff are nice and attentive, others give you attitude if you tell them about anything that is not up to par. Some act as if they are doing you a favor by even acknowledging your presence. Physical therapy there is a joke in my experience. Some of the nurses there are good, caring, experienced and skilled. Some are basically licensed pill dispensers who probably could not get jobs at higher rated hospitals. Many are very young - only a year or two out of nursing school. Some are nice, but nice isn't always enough. Most do the best they can in any case. Most times they are overworked because there is only one nurse on duty in a given area and they have to oversee perhaps 20 or more patients. If you can do most things for yourself it is not a bad place. You really have to demand the staff listen to you and provide you with the level of service they are supposed to give. I will give them points on cleanliness as they do clean rooms daily and the facility does look and smell very clean - however you do have to insist on having linens changed daily; if you do not insist they will let you go for days without changing them unless you are incontinent. Overall, maintenance and housekeeping services are satisfactory. Administration is responsive when notified of issues. This is good, but management really needs to tour the facility more to get a feel for certain issues that need to be addressed. If they did this, nagging issues that cause irritation and unnecessary frustration on a day to day basis would be addressed and solved instead of lagging on and on until the squeaky wheel finally gets oiled. Many issues are only attended to with urgency - or at all - when when state inspectors come to visit. The food alternates between edible and totally unappetizing. Food service seriously needs a makeover with people that understand and speak clear English. Too many times they get orders wrong and just send you whatever they want. Food is often room temperature or cold. The small variety of choices is frustrating. Complaints are common. They need to adopt a computerized system for food orders instead of paper menus that are distributed and then sent back by the resident to the kitchen each week. I will grant that they do attempt to correct orders and will bring food on request during the day, which is good, but other sub-par aspects tend to negate the positives of that. There are places that are far worse, but if you have standards, you may find yourself frustrated at a lot of basic issues that should not really be a problem if attention is paid like it should be. If this is read by the management, hopefully they will address these issues and create an environment that will be worthy of a better review. read more

My father was recently a patient at Bella Terra following a stroke. Both he and I are very satisfied with the quality of care and therapy he has received during his stay. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The facility is clean and the rooms are very nice. We were comfortable leaving my father in their care. Amy the social worker was a complete godsend to my family. After dealing with incompetent social workers at Resurrection Hospital, I was so pleased to have Amy dealing with my father's case. My mother has been at Bella Terra for several months in rehabilitation. I am very pleased with the care she receives from the nurses, CNAs, her physician, respiratory therapist, and wound specialist. I see my mother every day and if there are any questions or requests, everyone responds promptly and in a kind, friendly manner. When she came, she had a very extensive bed sore and she is regularly moved, her wound is getting better. My mother also has a tracheal tube and the nurses regularly take care of it. The facility is very clean. The medical staff is keeping track of vital signs several times a day and of her test results. When she had an infection, she was immediately hospitalized at Lutheran General. I am much happier with Bella Terra than with several other facilities I had experience with. read more

My brother arrived at Bella Terra Morton Grown after a short hospital in late March. He's developmentally disabled, sos health issues are a little more difficult, more so with the current covid situation. I say this as these three things all came together resulting in a very challenging situation, a perfect storm so to speak. His disability, his health issues and the covid shelter in place order. The staff at Bella Terra jumped right in to offer the best care for him during this difficult time. The team of nurses, doctors, assistants activities, dietitians have all been instrumental in helping him in his recovery. Nurses call me immediately with any problems. I've witnessed (via phone, email and thru window visits) the gentle and patient care provided by all at Bella Terra. The social workers (both named Amy) are extremely helpful in communicating, setting up conference calls to discuss his progress and address any issue. Amy S. coordinates our "window visits". This example of care and concern for him really helps to ease my concern for him as I can't be there. There is so much the staff have to do, especially during this very trying time for us all. I was recently released from Bethany Terrace Rehab Centre, after 2 1/2 weeks following back surgery. My experience was nothing short of great. To begin with, this was all new to me. A little frighting, but the staff did everything to make it easy to transition from the hospital. The nursing staff helped a great deal and I found very pleasant and very responsive to my needs. The Rehab part was equally great in that they motivated me toward my recovery and I felt a sense of accomplishment. I was very comfortable about going home and the transition was pretty easy. Every one that I haven`t mentioned that was on staff there, were not only friendly but tried to make me feel they also were working toward my recovery. If one needs a REHAB. I have to tell you. I was a patient at Bella Terra for a little over four months from October 2016 to the end of February 2017. If it wasn't for Bella Terra I can honestly say I don't think I would have ever been able to go home or walk again. I had practically died and when I got there I had very little hope. The way I was treated there by all there employees was truly amazing. They took suck good care of me and they all treated me like I was a queen. My doctors told me that if I would ever be able to go home or walk again it would take at least a year. They got me walking and completely healed in a little over four months to where I walked out of there and went home. I will be great full to Bella Terra for everything they did for me. They gave me my life back that I never thought I would ever have again. read more

last month while checking out local Nursing Facilities for my Father to Rehab after surgery, My Sister and I discovered Bethany Terrace! From the moment you walk in your made to feel like Family! It has a warm feel and so clean! As we walked around on our Tour we were continuously greeted by staff and everyone was so welcoming!!! My Father was able to get a Private room & did great in Therapy and only needed to be there 2 weeks. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. This is an update to a previous review I gave about this facility. It's been 6 months and I still have not received a check from Bella Terra's billing department on a substantial refund they owe my mother's estate. I have called several times and they always say "the check has been processed, it's just not sent." I called today and let them know I am filing in small claims court for the refund. It's been nothing but a hassle and a nightmare dealing with this organization. I strongly suggest you rethink putting yourself or your parent here. read more

We had a terrible experience at Bella Terra. The reception area and a few common rooms are very nice but it ends there. After being released from Lutheran General Hospital we were told it's imperative that my husband gets antibiotics every four hours around the clock and another every 12 hours. He came in at 6 o'clock one evening And was supposed to get another infusion at eight and we were told the medicine wouldn't even be there until midnight. He didn't receive any treatments during the night at all and when I got there in the morning we immediately searched for someplace else to treat him. That was the most crucial thing but aside from that The bathroom had never been cleaned, the bed didn't work, the phone didn't work and we had a big box TV. The furniture looked like it was purchased from the Bates Motel and we couldn't wait to get out of there. The staff was very nice but someone definitely dropped the ball and since my husband had a heart infection it was nothing we could play around with. I would never recommend this place. We had him transferred to transitional care of Arlington Heights. The difference is night and day and we are very happy with the move and the treatment he is given there . read more

Nowhere near enough staff / CNA's / nurses to handle in an efficient manner the amount of residents. If your loved one needs to be changed during food service, they have to sit in their own urine/feces until the food service is done (sometimes 1 hour plus). Certain CNA's will pawn the work onto the next crew and will half ass the work if she is close to her end of shift, putting residents back in urine soaked clothing etc.. If you want to get your loved one out of bed, be prepared to wait, sometimes 1-2 + hours if at all. There are good people that work here but the bad apples seem to forget that the people who have to stay there are human as well. read more

I used Bethany Terrace for rehab purposes after knee replacement surgery. The private room suites are excellent and provide time for healing. The nursing staff and CNA's were very compassionate and caring. The physical therapy department were timely with there visits, and helped me achieve the goals needed to be discharged. The nursing staff,OT and PT made sure I had everything necessary ,in regards to equipment ,to be discharged and manage at home by myself. All in all, a great experience for post surgery . read more

Since my last review of Bethany Terrace in March of 2014 I chose to go there after my back surgery in March of this year (2015) because I was told that they were under new management. I was in for a pleasant surprise. I was again in a mini suite which was very nice. The nursing staff and certified nursing assistants were all very caring and really helped in my recovery. The therapy staff were all new from last year and really helped me to get back on my feet. The food was pretty good, (not enough choices in my opinion), but I didn't realize if you don't like what is on the menu you can ask for something else. They were very accommodating. After my second stay there I can now recommend it for anyone's recovery. read more

July 2016, Absolutely a horrific experience for my 85 year old mother's rehab. The ONLY good thing was the actual rehab that is handled by an outside vendor. The nursing staff is so short handed that they are unable to take care of the patients in a timely and respectful manner. the food was inedible.
