I'm kind of proud of my family heritage. My family worked for the Greenwich Elites. My Grandpa was a Gardener for the same family for many years. Thankfully they paid in to his Social Security. Enough about Greenwich. It's a nice place to visit. I couldn't afford to live there. You need a car to get around. End of my Greenwich review. Nothing to say.

Pirates birds and…read morelights Great Captain's Island Lighthouse was built in 1868 and was actually one of six lighthouses of the same design around Long Island Sound built at the time. Made of huge blocks of brownstone, this lighthouse can survive anything the ocean and nature can throw at it. Great Captain's Island is frequently said to be named for the infamous Captain Kidd but it is far more likely the island is named after Captain Daniel Patrick, one of the founders of the town of Greenwich. The island is about 17 acres and a lovely place indeed. Noted for it's large population of birds, herons, ospreys, egrets and even some owls, the island is alive in the spring with nests and colors. The island was a very exclusive private club and casino but that all burned down in 1947. For many years it was open only to residents of the town of Greenwich but now anyone can go out there. A ferry runs during the summer months but since it is only about two miles off shore it can be kayaked to at any time. The lighthouse is no longer active but it is still a wonderful sight. No tours of the inside are available but just seeing the lighthouse is impressive indeed. Along with it's five other siblings, this lighthouse truly represents the golden age of lighthouse building.

If you are looking for any amenities (a snack bar, fancy showers, and/or beachfront waitress service) - this is not the island for you. If you are looking for a quiet location to read a book, BBQ, and let your kids play in the sand, - this is the ticket. I am also not sure what the previous review was complaining about? I have always interacted with the Caretaker (Mike) while on the island. He and his team have been super helpful at all times. Mike's team are quite frankly an asset to the town as they are the very reason the island is kept in the condition that it is!! Perhaps the previous Yelper was upset as she isn't a town resident/didn't have a beach pass?

On her first visit, Marcia was wearing a dress bought at last year's sales days. Do as I do! Great example. Think global, buy local. Maintain the American Dream of business ownership.

Absolutely LOVE this place but only receiving 4-stars for the following reasons:…read more First, If you sit back near the SRO (bar area), ALL you hear is people talking and the clinking of glass. Horribly distracting. The WORST place to stand or sit near if you're in the back of the Orchestra (latter rows)! Two, if you sit along the left wall (Orchestra), there is an alcove of sorts closer to the front of the stage. There is a TV in there (WHY, I don't know!), that is left on during performances. If you're in seats along the wall, you 'will' be distracted from the glare of the television light (as I recently was back in Row N!). Lastly, lobby bar prices are INSANE: $38 for a single serving CAN of wine and a single serve bottle of Prosecco. We had just come from a very nice restaurant and paid well less than that for quality!

I fell in love with the historic Capital Theatre the minute I walked in. Just a spectacular old building. While the show we saw, I won't say who, wasn't the greatest concert in the world the sound production and sight lines made for a really pleasant concert experience. Oh, and I should mention that the parking was a piece of cake. The reason this venue only gets three stars is simple: the bartenders were massively over serving. This was by far the drunkest crowd of concert-goers I've ever been in. It was literally unsafe. The venue gets props for having gender neutral bathrooms...they just don't have enough of them. The lines were nuts and for this show there were booze-fueled fights happening while you were waiting to take a leak. All in all, not a great vibe.

How old is Greenwich, CT?…read more Here's how old- it celebrated its 350th anniversary in 1990. This plaque was dedicated in 1990 to honor Greenwich's sesquarcentennial (it's a real word, I just looked it up). It's located on a strip of grass to the right of the driveway at the Old Greenwich School. This is a very cool plaque describing the history of the town -from its Indian beginnings, Dutch settlement, and American colonial heritage under the Connecticut Colony and New Haven Colony.

Staff inside the different departments also friendly and nice to conduct business with. The only complaint I have is that, I as a handicapped taxpayer have to park down the slight hill, and walk the distance with mobility devices, while the selectman and staff have assigned spots at the top closer to the entrance. Not okay.
