    Toilet in lobby

My family and I did not feel safe and decided to leave. I spend anywhere from 20-50 days a year traveling and I have never seen a property this bad. This is such a nice area and @ one time (1950s) this was probably a nice property. The toilet in the lobby is visible to all though fading tinted glass. There is NOT a working pool, please see pictures of their outdoor pool. The spa area has very limited hours. I wanted to take a picture in the lobby, but did not feel safe. As much as I tried to like this place I need to warn others. DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY ON HOTWIRE. I have been to all 50 states traveling and was returning from my seventh trip to Europe and never seen a property this bad. I noticed on another travel review site that a family with a special needs child claimed that they were treated unfairly. I still have a teaching license and if those allegations are true there are agencies that could investigate.

What a dump! I couldn't believe my eyes when I turned in from the road. The entire place is more than run down; some of it is falling down. The 10/10 and 8/10 ratings have to be from the owners, because no one in their right mind would give this place a good rating. 3/10 would be very generous. The only honest comment that I can make that isn't negative is that our room was clean. However, when we walked in, we were met by a strong musty smell. We opened the window and went to dinner and a couple of hours later it was better, but still not good. I'm 72, have traveled extensively both in the US and abroad and have never stayed in such a rundown/falling down hotel. The average rating of 7.4/10 appears to be "home cookin'."

The check in office and pool area and nice sitting area with a wood burning fireplace

But my husband likes it, I asked if they did anything for Anniversary's they don't unless you pay for it. At the Shawnee in Nothing special for celebrations, When you go to Wyndham they have champagne, balloons for you no extra charge. When I contacted Wyndham told them I was celebrating our anniversary they gave us and upgraded no extra charge . When I contacted the Shawnee in i was told you need to pay for anything you want, champagne, strawberries etc. The room is small, it's a long walk from the parking lot to the room so it was difficult for someone who has a hard time walking and bring your items from the parking lot to the room. The restaurant food was excellent the waitress T was awesome! So we did go to the museum and was told the building is 115 yrs old and there is a ghost in room 105 great we're in the next room, ghost in the ball room and in the 3rd floor. This building almost made it to become filmed on the shinning but another building won. Many celebrities have been here I've listed pictures for you to see. Do you believe by freak our tv wouldn't work? It was working fine then stopped working. The maintenance guys were awesome very friendly! Replaced the tv from the haunted room 105. It worked fine while they were there that night it didn't want to work, kept pausing, lines on the tv, little scary but what can you do? I guess the ghost didn't like us taking his tv. Over all with the great staff it made up for the spooky vibes. The pool was beautiful newly renovated also a the hot tub. my husband needs to ride on a cart because he can't walk far Shane manager offered help with a machine to get into the pool if needed. Very compassionate person! One thing I didn't like is I had to leave in a rush and I left something behind I know 100 percent I left it on the bed I called many times to see if they had it and was told it wasn't there

They are located on a golf course and a quick drive away from Shawnee Ski Resort. I loved the old school vibe with vintage asthetics, books and board games in the lobby, etc. There was also a fire pit outside and it's a short walk from a bar/restaurant. The pool area is also very nice and open until 10pm. It was a great stay and I look forward to returning during ski season!

Don't even think twice, book this hotel! Easy walking distance to the heart of town for a beer,…read morewine, or a meal or shopping! The Hampton Inn meets all expectations and exceeds many! Not a single complaint about the quality of the room, the quality of the hotel. Very comfortable beds! It's almost too good to be true how close this hotel is to the downtown area. I'm really really glad I booked this hotel instead of other hotels nearby. This hotel, you can literally walk out the door and go a block and a half and your restaurants are right there in either direction. I wanna make it extremely clear how nice though the hotel was. All of your modern enemies, and all in top form! Absolutely perfectly comfortable beds and pillows. An outstanding air conditioner or heater that worked remarkably well in the room to control your climate to exactly how you wanted it. Super clean with all the bathroom and other amenities. No need to Uber. I want to really point out that this town has multiple breweries and wineries and restaurants. If drinking is part of your agenda wow you won't have anything to worry about you'll be able to walk a block or two, have your drinks and walk back to your room! There's also wonderful restaurants here as well. Finally, it's not a crazy loud town. It's very quiet just a lot of mature fun! Super highly recommended if you're staying in the Delaware water gap area! Very close to the Delaware water gap for you to explore also!

The room itself had a greasy, dirty texture on the floor that stuck to our feet after showering, requiring us to wash off our feet before putting shoes on. And finally, I found out later that the front desk attendant charged us a pet fee even though we had no pet with us and never even asked about animals. We had to request a refund after the fact, and since customer service didn't believe us we had to wait for them to call the hotel to confirm we did not bring an animal before getting refunded. Would recommend the Penn Stroud if you are in the area instead of Hampton Inn Stroudsburg/Poconos if you want clean rooms and a pleasant stay.

I do think at check in, they are much more concerned with upselling time share…read morepackages instead of giving basic information, like where the rooms are (on a printed map instead of just giving the address for a place half a mile away) or where to park (numbers weren't clear). Only one spot per unit and an overflow lot several buildings down. On an off-season, letting us have an unassigned room's spot would have been nice. The interiors are comfortable. The suite had a bedroom upstairs, but there wasn't a door, so being able to hear the coffee pot or TV downstairs was an unexpected design choice. Luckily those staying downstairs could hear every step from upstairs. The site has minigolf for an okay price, discounts on on-site restaurants, and a big pool and hot tub. The people at the front desk seemed to have some to little knowledge on local things to do. They give out booklets for things to do to read on your own. It was an okay stay. Location was good to get to things around the Poconos.

It's only getting 3 stars from me though as a heads up to the next vacationers who are booked in the future. 1.) the double bedroom to the left when you walk in has 2 problems... The bathtub has AWFUL WATER PRESSURE! IT TOOK 30 MINUTES TO FILL FOR BATH! Then on to of that the bathroom door won't close all the way. It's stuck open and you cannot lock it! Let alone shut it properly. 2.) it take even longer to drain! I had to put my daughter in the King size bathroom in the jacuzzi and bend to wash her hair. If you have kids with you you know it's not an easy thing when they want to play instead of getting rinsed! For all the points it takes to stay here and being the Presidential you would think it would be perfect?? Just be aware when your come to plan for this. I ended up giving it 2 stars instead because i forgot about the non shutting bathroom door.
