Our cottage was clean, in good repair, and surprisingly quiet given that the restaurant is on the property. The space is set up well for a couple or small family: a bedroom with a queen bed, a living room with a queen sleeper sofa, a small kitchenette (fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker), and even a propane fireplace that was perfect for chilly September evenings. While the fixtures and linens were a little dated, everything was tidy and comfortable, and the unit could easily sleep four. The only real downside was the low water pressure in the shower--not ideal, but not a deal-breaker either. At just over $500 for two nights, we felt it was a fair investment for the experience. The on-site restaurant, Frogtown Chophouse, is highly rated, and we enjoyed stopping in for cocktails one evening. The bartender gave us excellent local recommendations that added to our trip. All in all, Woodfield Manor offered exactly what we were looking for: a quiet, comfortable, and relaxing home base in the Poconos.

We arrived Friday afternoon (October 11 2024) and stayed for three nights. This place is a little slice of heaven tucked away in the Pocono Mountains. When we arrived to check in, Chuck was there to greet us. He is a wonderful, welcoming gentleman. He gave us literature about things to do and happily answered our questions. Our room with its queen sized bed and adjoining sitting area was clean and comfy. We appreciated the small refrigerator and microwave to store and warm up our late night snacks. One tv in each room made it easy for one of us to nap and the other to "veg" out, if we wanted to! It's true the front desk is not manned twenty four hours, but you are given a number to contact in case of an emergency. And the guests are asked to observe quiet time between 10pm and 8am. This worked for us. I didn't miss the hundred room hotel with potential all night parties next door. After a day full of fun Fall festivities...quiet, peaceful and cozy is just what we needed. We are certain to visit again, perhaps in the spring or summer season. But definitely, most definitely again with the changing of the leaves.

When there was about…read more1.5 hours left I contacted the property (along with general IHG customer care) because I noticed that my (2) double queen rooms had been updated and confirmed for (2) king rooms. Seeing as how we had 6 people and 2 elderly folks in our group, this was not going to work. -It took the remainder of the ride there which was in excess of 1.5 hours to gain no traction on getting back my double queen rooms. The stress and uncertainty of arriving in a town you've never been in with friends and family not knowing if you're going to have a place to stay is really a feeling I was not expecting to have when I confirmed my (2) double queen rooms when I booked. -I received zero communication or updates via the app, phone, email, etc for this MAJOR chance in my room reservation. All I had to go off of was email confirmation that noted that I had (2) double queen rooms. -When I arrived, half of my party came in with me and half stayed in the vehicle. When I approached the front desk, she explained to me that she was attempting to call people who had queen rooms to try and switch for me and that one had already confirmed a switch. So, at that point...I was "confirmed" for (1) Double Queen room and (1) King room. This was still impossible for me to do so I waited to make her other calls. In the meantime, I asked if they had another king room I could add and be comped to give me the 4 beds I needed. The other clerk scoffed and said no while citing that they were completely sold out. She had been rude the entire time so I tried not to speak with her. I explained that there was the ability to book a king room on the IHG site right then and there so there should be one available. She then explained to me that if I booked that non refundable room and paid for it, I would not have a room and I'd never see that money again. I decided to shut down and accept that I was not going to be treated fairly as a customer from that lady. After waiting for a while, we were notified that another person called back and was willing to switch us to the double queen room. SO, at this point after waiting around for over an hour on premises and trying to sort it out for over an hour on the ride to Bethlehem, we SUPPOSEDLY had what we ORIGINALLY booked months prior. -At this point there were alot of people in the lobby because we were not the only people having issues. The 2 front desk clerks were going back and forth with 2 of the cleaning staff during this time for another handful of minutes because they were saying all of the rooms were clean but the system wasn't showing it, etc etc. Eventually we got called back up and we were expecting to be checked in. HOWEVER, we were told that they actually had no double queen rooms at all and we were crap out of luck. -After this, I'm thoroughly embarrassed as the point man in my group. I have my name on this "guest of the day" board that is totally bullsh*t, and I'm being treated like an idiot. We have no place to stay but I have to keep my reservation because it's better than sleeping in our vehicle (which 2 of our elderly party members were doing at this point). I politely leave while asking them not to cancel my reservation. We proceed to drive around town for the next 2-3 hours in an attempt to find accommodations that will fit our group. After wasting gas, paying for parking at multiple spots, wasting time at multiple hotels BECAUSE hotels were booked. (hence why I booked my rooms so early)...we landed on a hotel that was able to accommodate us with 3 rooms at full, last minute, prices. I paid $500 more than I CONFIRMED AND BOOKED my candlewood rooms at but we had to do it, I had no other choice. -This ordeal started at 330 PM and I got booked into a room at 930 PM at a hotel I did not originally purchase because the Candlewood suites decided they didn't want to honor the reservation I book. It was a breach of contract, and I was not notified of any change. I was in contact with IHG customer service saying that IHG STRICTLY adheres to the terms of reservation and that I should contact you. I know what was being updated in the logs because that IHG person was telling me what was being put in my case number. The updates were false and I have record to prove that. In summary -I spent 6 hours of unplanned time trying to either RECTIFY my candlewood screw up that wasn't my fault, or running around town looking for a place for our party of 6 people to sleep. 2 of which were way too old to go through this crap. -I spent $500 extra of my money to book a different hotel that wasn't going to screw us over. This 500 does not include the gas and parking that I incurred looking for this. -We cancelled our dinner reservation because we prioritized our well being and where we were going to sleep. This was a $50 charge from the restaurant on the cancellation of last minute.

Arrived later in day then anticipated, Hiram contacted us the day of reservation, which was nice, letting us know our cottage was ready and awaiting our arrival. Gave him our eta, arrangements made allowing us to settle in on our later then expected arrival. Hiram came by to greet us gave a full disclosure run down of the property and let us know he was at our call 24/7. Cottage was a 2 bedroom one bath, screened sun porch. Clean with the basics beds, fridge, stove top, toaster oven utensils pots pans bowls and plates. Beautiful well kept grounds, pond and stream behind cottage made for a relaxing environment. Didnt realize when booking that it is centrally located to plenty of attractions and things to do. Market bars and restaurants near by as well. As this was a short weekend getaway, we pretty much stocked up for 2 days, relaxed walked leisurely along the stream and woods there. Kids played on the play set little game of mini golf. There were many other cottages occupied but very quiet, cold maybe kept every one in. Fire pit at night roasted marshmallows. All in all a relaxed quiet weekend great surrondings. As the wife put it, its not the Waldorf-Astoria but for that we would have stayed at the Waldorf. We wanted simple rustic tranquility and thats what we got. Look foward to staying here again in the future glad its all year round and pet friendly with an outstanding host.

There was mold all in and around the shower and the bathroom was pretty disgusting overall. The wood work was caked with dirt and hair. These cabins are very over prices for what they are. The inside of the freezer had hair in it and wasn't very clean. We booked this place because they allowed dogs. We had to pay an extra fee of $75 per dog for an extra $150 on top of the $200 a night. The cabins are dated which I could deal with if the place was clean. The bedroom had an odor of cat urine. My dog chews a bone and he must have been chewing it on the blanket and put a hole in the blanket. I was charged an additional $100 for a blanket even though I paid $150.00 dog fee. Then I was told by the owner I should have said something. I had no idea it happened. The place is quiet but we wont be back. Its extremely overpriced for what you get and not clean enough.

Unfortunately, we had a very uncomfortable interaction with a front desk employee named Michele. After our room key stopped working, we went to the desk to have it fixed. When my girlfriend corrected her from saying "Mr." to "Ms.," Michele responded with attitude and then made a completely inappropriate comment about my girlfriend's body while gesturing to her own chest. It was unprofessional and shocking, especially after such a positive stay otherwise. I did speak with the Director of Operations about the situation, and I hope the complaint is taken seriously and addressed so other guests don't experience something similar.

The gym was nice and also the swings, I didn't want to swim because there were rumors of a lot of people spitting, farting, and peeing in the water. I hope they add more things to do I also loved the snack bar and they weren't trying to scam with their prices. I hope that next time they scrub everything more thoroughly so I don't have to eat with a fork that has random white spots on it or drink with a cup that has a random black thing and orange thing in it.

The $$$ on the review is not accurate. When I was a kid it was $100 for a kid to attend a weekend retreat from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. This included a two night stay and all meals and activities. That was thirty years ago. Since then the deal remains the same but the price has only gone up $20. Which doesn't even account for inflation. That is because this place is a MINISTRY first. Aside from all of the wonderful amenities and the things to do like the pool the game room the basketball courts and tennis courts and the beautiful views of the river, there is also the spiritual aspect of the retreat which is so sorely needed among gods people in this very evil time. It's a good place to get a break from the world, regroup, refocus, and rededicate. Come here for the refreshing of the Holy Spirit. Come here to be sharpened as iron sharpens iron. Come here to meet new likeminded Christians who take their faith seriously. Come here to go home with renewed purpose and dedication. Come here to find Jesus. Please pray for this place that they remainn that way, that the leadership would focus on ministry, that they would not allow money to ever become the focus, that they would continue to walk by faith and that the leadership would continue to follow Christ. That they would be divinely directed to hire only sincere Christians and not hire based on appearances or resume but according The holy spirits direction.
