We were looking for a place to get a "gift level" bottle if Irish whiskey when we came upon GBW. We went in and just stood by the door for a minute...overwhelmed by all the lovely choices! Approached by a very knowledgeable staffer, we made a choice on the whiskey pretty quickly then spent the next half hour looking at all the things WE "needed"... Stopped in for some local cans to bring back to Southern Maine. I was surprised to see they basically carried the same beers as all good shops do (Foundation, Mason's, OBC, etc), so I grabbed 3 4 packs of brews I hadn't yet seen in Southern Maine. The shop was very clean and nicely segregated between wine, liquor, unrefrigerated beer and beer coolers. They had a sexy lineup of Yeti products as well. Very friendly staff! read more

I can't recommend Global Beverage enough. We wound up visiting them 6 times during our week long stay in Bar Harbor. Their selection of Maine craft beer is incredible. With new releases arriving nearly every day it was difficult to stay away. If you are into craft beer and want to try some of the best Maine has to offer, be sure to ask for Matt. We met Matt the first day we visited and his recommendations were spot on. Everything he suggested was phenomenal. We try to visit Bar Harbor every year (NJ is home for us) but missed coming last year. Global was always a must stop on the way into town, but since we were here last they've really improved their craft beer selection. It's just too bad it will be another year before we're back again. read more

Worst customer service experience I have had in a long time! I went in requesting a low sugar or no sugar wine, alcohol, or something! "No, none of that. Sounds like something you could get in a supermarket" was the response I received. I wanted to turn on my heels and leave after that helpful advice. They had a huge selection of interesting low carb, low sugar, no sugar, low cal, gluten free, beverages...1/2 an aisle! Well, reluctantly I bought some due to my disdain for shopping in general:-(...If I like it, I'll definitely buy elsewhere. Maybe just having a bad day...it happens! read more

This place a a beer lovers heaven! I come up to Maine from Chicago once a year, and before we head over to the island we ALWAYS stop here to stock up with the great local selection. The best part, by far, MATT! He is so knowledgable about the beers they cary and talks to you about what your preferences are and makes AWESOME suggestions. New this year - sampler 4 packs!!!! Global Beverage Warehouse has lost its cache. I have been shopping there since it opened on Myrik St and followed it over to its new location. The good news is it still has a excellent selection of beverages. the bad news is its service has slipped dramatically of late. the staff has become less knowledgeable, surly and frequently confrontational. The owner, Ryan Bates, is often nowhere to be found. This may be because he has opened another store and is developing an apartment complex on the same property and has stretched himself too thin. After a recent unpleasant shopping experience, I have made the decision to take my business elsewhere. Fortunately, in the past couple of years, several highly competitive stores have opened in the area so there will be little loss in product selection and a significant improvement in service. read more

Clean, updated store. Well-kept and well-stocked. Nice selection of beer, wine, and spirits, including a nice local Maine (and elsewhere in New England) selection.
