The food, which was a huge sampler of BBQ chicken, pulled pork, ribs and sausage with baked beans, potato salad and Cole slaw for the price of $75. This fed my entire group and we had leftovers! Every bit was deliciousness founded in love. They have BBQ sauces, made in house, that simply enhance the absolute enjoyment of the meal. This place brews their own soda (blueberry and root beer) that are just great tasting and their beers/ales are the best! I recommend the Cadillac Mt Stout, blueberry ale, real ale and the winner was Brother Adam's Bragget (for mead lovers). EVERYONE needs to eat here!!! read more

This was a massive amount of good for a reasonable price. I got the sampler. All the smoked food was absolutely delicious. The chicken was tender and fell right off the bones. The sausage was spicy but good and the ribs were good as well. Their homemade bbq sauce was the real star of the show. I did not enjoy the sides as much but they were decent the beans being my favorite. The waitstaff is extremely attentive. Everyone asked if I needed anything or if they could help. The people in thr restaurant were friendly. This establishment is down a driveway so I thought I was lost for a second but otherwise it was a great place to eat after a hike in Acadia. It was a dreary Wednesday (Maine needs the rain, so we didn't mind), and we headed over as the brewery opened. Pete took amazing care of us! He's the bartender, tour guide, shipment fulfiller, and just a jack of all trades! The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and the tasting room was clean and large with a nice variety of merch. If they didn't have something out, Pete was willing to search for sizes and other colors. We all settled on a flight - VERY affordable and nice size pours. Each and every beer was delicious. I wish we had time for a second flight, be we had to be on our way. Be sure you taste their blueberry drink as well - they sell more of that per year than they do beer, and we saw it all over the island. It tastes fresh and there's no artificial flavor. Pete gave us many recommendations for things to do and places to try. He also gave us a tutorial on peeling lobster. If you're hungry, there is a restaurant on site (different business, but they play nice) and they have all the beers on tap there. You can also carry your flight over there. Stopped here after a long day of hiking at Acadia. They have another location in downtown Bar Harbor, but we opted to drive a little further to avoid the parking chaos and crowds of town. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We tried several beers and didn't have anything bad, but nothing super unique or outstanding either. Thank God for the Atlantic Brewing Company - especially this location! After a long hike around Jordan Pond with my 5 year old and almost 3 year old, I was beat and dying for a beer and something to eat. We were going to stop home before heading to the Brewery but luckily I checked and saw it closes at 7pm. We went right to the brewery and arrived around 6. There was a line waiting to be seated because they were short staffed but we were seated by 6:15pm and ready to order. I ordered their Blueberry Ale (which I basically drank the entire time I was out on Bar Harbor) and their pulled pork sandwich. My husband ordered the pork quesadillas and my kids had a grilled cheese and hot dog. We also ordered their root beer and blueberry sodas. The food was delicious! The pulled pork was not overly sauced and you could add your own amount of BBQ sauce from the table. My kids devoured their meals and even enjoyed some of my husband's pork quesadillas. Their root beer was very tasty, but I wasn't a big fan of their blueberry soda, a bit too sweet for me. But their blueberry ale is to die for and you better believe I bought a 24 pack to bring home. I don't mess around! I also really REALLY appreciate the fact that they have a playground for the kids. My kids had a blast playing on the playground and making friends with other kids. Excellent experience here. Came here hoping it wouldn't be busy during peak season but we received a table inside right away. Our host and server were excellent. We ordered flights and a couple appetizers. Everything came out quickly and we were pleased with the service. You can see the beer tanks from your table! So cool. My only complaint was being seated in a hot indoor type greenhouse. We would have gladly stayed outside but was not given the option. The beer was great, we were under the impression the flights were served at this location but was told by the waitress that it was not. Disappointed we opted for several of the beers of the day and some appetizers. Overall a pleasant experience with a decent bill in the end. Everyone enjoyed the experience. Came here while on vacation for the free tour which occurs at 2, 3, and 4pm most days. The "tour" is not really a walk around tour, but those who come are brought to a garage entrance of the brewery and a short 10-minute discussion about the brew process and some samples of the ingredients are passed around to smell. Something new was the requirement to wear safety goggles even though we were not inside, and a short video of the bottles being cleaned, filled, and capped. It was pointed out that Atlantic Brewing Company keeps about 90% of its beer in Maine and 80% of that on Mt. Desert Island. They also produce about 6000 cases annually when a craft brewery can go up to 20,000 cases. After the tour, the good part happens; free samples! Today, there were six to try. After everyone showed ID, we went from light to dark. My favorite was the Summer Ale which was only going to be produced for another couple of weeks. They also had samples of Blueberry Ale, Real Ale (#2 and #1 sellers, respectively), Coffee Porter, Ginger, and a Double IPA. I pretty much realized that I'm not a beer man as I did not like most of the others. They also make blueberry soda and root beer soda. I liked the root beer a lot. The tasting room is also the gift shop with glassware, shirts, tchotchkes, some food items (some awesome hot mustard) and, of course, beer to go. Overall, a nice way to spend a couple of hours. The tour is free and so are the drink samples. On a side note, there is a BBQ restaurant on premise which smelled good, but from what I remember a few years ago was just average. $0 except the gas to get here and anything you buy at the gift shop. read more

The Blueberry Ale was sweet and subtle, not overbearing and it's hard to find that at certain establishments. We purchased a 4-pack of the Blueberry Ale from the storefront and the cashier was very kind and personable which we appreciated even though it was a busy Friday afternoon. I stopped by here earlier today with my wife. This location of Atlantic Brewing is their actual brewery and is located in a residential area outside Bar Harbour. The brewery itself gives tours and then has tastings and other merchandise for sale. If you go there, don't get it confused with the BBQ like we did at first as they will serve you pints and 1/2 pints but not tasters. Whenever we finally made it inside the Brewery I was pleased to hear that all of the tastings were free. The employee helping us was super nice and friendly and whenever I questioned him about why the samples were free, he explained that they didn't serve food and so they couldn't sell beer for consumption on premise. With that being said, they did have plenty of beer to go including mix and match 4 and 6 packs as well as plenty of merchandise. As for the samples, they had 6 of them (Summer Ale, Blueberry Ale, Real Ale - brown ale, Coal Porter, Island Ginger and 04609, a DIPA). Even though I only got 1 to 2 ounces of each, I enjoyed trying them. My favorite of the bunch was probably the coal porter closely followed by the 04609 which was surprisingly smooth and not overly hopped for a DIPA. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I mean hello, free beer and a nice employee to boot! However don't come here expecting to drink a lot unless you visit the restaurant next door. read more

The atmosphere is totally different than the restaurant in Bar Harbor and was very laid back and relaxed. We were in after a long day of hiking and had a good conversation with the bartender and other patrons. Definitely ask for the bartenders hiking recommendations! Favorite beers we had here were the 04609 DIPA and Bar Harbor Summer Ale. The food smelled great, so nice having that option to eat while you're there. We (me, myself and dog) recently visited ABC last Thursday evening. The hostess promptly sat us a dog friendly table and handed up menus. Since it was my first time visiting the brewery and it's my boyfriend's favorite Maine brewery, I wanted to sample a flight. Unfortunately, flights are only inside their tasting room and pooches are not allowed. We asked the waitress who sat us if we could go in really quickly to sample and leave the dog outside tied to the table so I could figure out what I want to order (to be clear, my dog is old and very calm, it was in the mid 50's, there was maybe a total of 20 people spread out AND the tasting room was 10 feet away from our table). We verbatim told her it wasn't a big deal if we can't, but it was worth asking. She said "No problem! We will watch her!" and made us feel pretty good about the situation. We walked in and was about to order a flight when a very petite Oliva Wilde look-alike entered the tasting room and frantically yelled over everyone in the room, "Who owns the dog outside?" We raised our hands and asked if everything was ok. Instead of being a professional (albeit she was super young) and asking to speak with us privately or to the side (so many alternatives), she very emphatically told us we weren't allowed to leave our dog alone and it was barking at a customer. We were mortified and very embarrassed for being put on blast. Ok, so let's stop there and review said experience and dialogue with prior waitress. Ok, now let's go back to present time. We apologized and told her our waitress said it was ok and we also were awfully confused because our dog rarely barks at anyone. When we followed her outside, there was a strange man crouched over her trying to pet her, which I guess Maggie (dog) didn't like his vibes because she definitely told him to back off. Ok, so let's review again. We apologized for the dog barking EVEN THOUGH some dipshit decided ignore our dog's bark to leave her alone (which is NOT normal). Never once did the frantic Olive Wilde look-alike or the original waitress apologize to me for 1) incorrect information and 2) being super unprofessional and embarrassing us in front of five other groups in the tasting room. I was obviously very upset as my boyfriend had gone on and on about his favorite brewery and the atmosphere was completely ruined by the two waitresses. We randomly ordered me a blueberry ale which was good and an ipa for him so the trip wasn't in vain. No doubt I had a RBF because when I left to use the bathroom, it was only then one of the waitresses had the thought to apologize to my boyfriend instead of to the both of us. I get it, rules are rules. But we didn't know the proper rules - we were literally told the opposite. And be facking gracious. We are customers. While the beer was good - it wasn't that good to overlook the unprofessionalism displayed by their employees. The two stars is simply for the ales. Good riddance. read more

Local brewery that's been around for 30 years. Jeremy the server was so helpful and informative. We tasted the Summer Ale, Blueberry Ale, Real Ale ( their most popular) and Cadillac Mountain Stout. All beers were delicious. I preferred the lighter Summer and Blueberry Ales while the hubs liked the Real Ale and Cadillac Mtn Stout. We also tasted the Brother Adams Bragget, which was honey beer aged in oak barrels with 10.5%. Prices were very reasonable at $2.50 for 5 oz or 4 flight for $8.00. read more

After running the Marathon at MDI we moseyed on over to Atlantic Brewing. Note: This is the only Brewery on Mount Dessert Island and also the only Brewery within a 100 mile radius. Due to licensing requirements mandated by the state of Maine, regular pints can only be served in the neighboring building which also houses the BBQ business, which was closed for the season, but while the BBQ business was closed the bar is where pints were served was open. (Things seem to quiet down after Columbus Day). The building housing the merchandise doubles as the tasting room and can only serve tastings which are free for adults over 21 years of age. We tasted all 6 of the beers in the tasting room and after purchasing a tank top for Nicole walked over to the bar next door to have our pint of the favorite Coffee Stout. I'd rate the beer here as average: drinkable but not noteworthy. Another Yelper used the word "safe" to describe the beer, which is accurate. The ingredients are quality but the flavor and originality is missing. All of the beers were fashioned similarly, and tasted pretty much the same. According to Adam, our server who was very knowledgeable, a new facility is being built where more original beers will be created and I think that's really what's missing here. Nevertheless, if you want to try a different Brewery and want to broaden your zymological interests, come here and talk to Adam about the Hops Chart. While you are at it have a beer! read more
