    Maine blueberry wine
    Kate S.

Cute little wine store located on Main Street in Bar Harbor. Nice selection of Maine wines & beer. The lady working the front area was very helpful and polite. A lot of the local wines were a little pricey ($15-$20), but this did not deter me from picking up a couple bottles to take home. Glad we stopped by for a souvenir Maine blueberry wine!

Off the beaten tourist path and open year round, PP lives up to the reviews and hype. We made a mistake our first night in Bar Harbor going to a tourist trap and getting a rubbery lobster roll and sad chowder. I did a bit of research online and found Peekytoe and was SO glad for it. While you don't get a water view, but a cute walk down the main drag, it is WELL worth the excursion AND HOW. My husband said his Crabby Patty was the best crab cake sandwich he ever had. I agreed in as I had the cake as an app. I also got a Halibut dish with pickled fiddleheads (a local green I might liken to okra for lack of other reference) and blistered tomatoes. It was moist, well cooked fish, amazing sides with phenomenal heightening elements. We also enjoyed our cocktails immensely. GO if you are a foodie and don't want a lame wannabe roll with some kids grilled cheese sides, DO this spot. SO well worth it. PS to manament - I know you do a brunch. MAKE SURE YOU DO A CRABCAKE BENEDICT. Your crab cakes are divine and with a slight seared crunch. Ideal. You can even do a lemon-fiddlehead or blistered tomato HOLLANDAISE. I'd be IN IN as I am sure most people would. The vinegary elements from the fiddleheads to (I think) my husband's pickled onion atop his crabby patty MADE the CRABCAKES THE STAR.

When asked for the WiFi password at the beginning of the meal, she said "I'll ask" and never got back to us until the end of the meal, when we had to remind her. When taking our orders, she specifically asked if we wanted cold butter or warm butter on our lobster. While my friends wanted cold butter, they got warm. Food was subpar. While the price for lobster here is cheaper than most places, my lobster ended up being very rubbery. Partner ordered a pineapple ginger juice, and it was VERY heavy on the ginger and tasted "off", like drinking kimchi. I didn't care for the sweet potato mash, it did not go with the dish (lobster) at all, but the cucumbers were ok. Portions were uneven. My friends got the same lobster as I did, and yet they got significantly less lobster. Finally, while I know this wasn't a restaurant problem, I feel as they failed to act accordingly. One of my friends went to go to the restroom, and saw a man laying down on the floor. Staff were notified, but the staff seemingly did nothing; we asked the staff for an update and they just shrugged us off (because we were concerned for that man). If you're wanting to try lobster for the first time, DONT come here - spend a little bit extra on more reputable places, because this place was not it.

For years, this store has been an oasis of good vibes, healthy food and employees who seemed genuinely aligned around better food, better health, better community and a better kind of commerce -- one that puts people and community first. What I experienced in mid-July 2026 felt more like the customer service I'd expect from a cranky big-city bodega employee pushing scratch tickets, vodka nips, cigarettes and herbal Viagra at the register. I'm a longtime, loyal A & B Naturals shopper. But maybe not anymore. I recently learned that more than $300 in receipts I had carefully saved for redemption through the store's loyalty program are now worthless. I always liked being able to redeem old receipts for a modest discount on future purchases. Apparently, that program changed during the dead of winter. Under the new rules, only receipts from the same calendar year can be redeemed. As a 20-plus-year summer resident of MDI, maybe I missed the 2025 messaging. I assume there was some warning. But the change landed harshly for someone like me who had saved receipts in good faith. What bothers me is that A & B Naturals apparently gave longtime (summertime) customers no grace period or soft landing -- no window to redeem older receipts before making them worthless. It feels abrupt and unnecessarily unfriendly to loyal shoppers. But that alone wouldn't bring my review down to two stars. What really gets my goat is how ONE employee treated me when I expressed disappointment about the change. Let me be clear: I love the A & B Naturals staff. Most are salt of the earth. They represent a diversity I celebrate, and they are a big reason I've shopped there for years. The nutritionist, in particular, is amazing -- knowledgeable, patient and genuinely helpful. But one bad apple can ruin the cart. An older employee named Katherine met me at the counter and was defensive, smug, condescending and rude. She told me I was the first person ever to complain about the new loyalty rules. When I asked to speak with the owner, her response was: "It won't do you any good." When I told her I was disappointed by both the loyalty change and the way she was treating me -- and that I was considering leaving a review or writing a letter to the editor -- she again essentially told me it wouldn't matter and nobody would care. Her tone and demeanor made it clear she wasn't interested in hearing me out or de-escalating the conversation. Quite the opposite. I felt dismissed and talked down to. There was no acknowledgment that a longtime customer might reasonably be disappointed, no sympathy, no attempt to explain the change constructively and certainly no effort to preserve goodwill. Maybe I missed the notice about the loyalty program. Fair enough. But good customer service isn't about always giving the customer what they want. Sometimes it's simply about listening, showing a little empathy and treating a loyal customer like their business still matters. That part should never expire.

There was a long line but wasn't too bad because there was some shade and the place is on main street where the parade starts. Inside was crowded as well and a bit hectic during busy hours. The latte was not mixed very well initially so had to mix it well before drinking. But once it's mixed it was tasty. I tasted the hint of maple flavor mixed with bitterness of coffee and creaminess of oat milk. Service was good especially considering it was very busy at the time. Overall it's a nice cafe for quick stop or lounging with decent drink options. Price is on the pricier side but pretty standard for local coffee shop. Plus we got to sit and watch the parade without sitting in the sun.

They're absolutely delicious when still warm and fresh out of the oven and they bake them pretty much all day, so they're just about always fresh. One of my favorite ways to enjoy them over the years was to get the maple butter and blueberry jam and mix the two. The flavors of the butter, maple and blueberry all complimented the savory flavor of the popover. However, this year I was disappointed to see that they no longer are offering the maple butter, even for an upcharge. Please bring this back, it really took the popovers to another level! Maybe whip it into thawed butter instead of hand mixing it to make it easier? The whipped butter is easier to dip in and spread anyway. The new pre-packaged / mass produced butter packs take away from the appeal of a freshly-made popover. Sometimes in the morning it can be a little crowded in here with people waiting for their coffee / drinks to be made by a counter not far from where you place your order, so if you're walking in and haven't ordered yet then check if the people standing around are just waiting on coffee or waiting to order. It would be a nice improvement to see some separation (maybe with some ropes or floor markings) to make it more clear who is in line to order and who is waiting for their beverage to be made. It's worth noting it's takeout only and there's nowhere inside to sit, but there are some benches just outside on the sidewalk where you can have your popover and coffee.
