It was a rainy day in the Bar Harbor area so we were looking for inside things to do. A wine tasting was the perfect pastime. The tasting room is beautiful and rustic. Very cozy with several tables. Find a good seat and enjoy table side service. We chose 2 flights and one extra add on. It was fun to try the cranberry and blueberry wines local to the area. Very different (and sweet) from what I'm used to. We got some cheese spread from the cooling station and some crackers to enjoy with our tastings. Everything was wonderful. I enjoyed this rainy day diversion. I took a couple of bottles home. Can't wait to share them with friends. read more

Wine tastings outside! It's $12 for 6 pours and the glass is included. The tasting list had a good variety of dry and sweet, red and white, and this winery uses juice from all over the world for their wines. After your tasting be sure to take a look around the shop, in addition to their wines there's chocolate, wine accessories, a cooler with meats and cheeses, and much more. The staff was friendly. The two gender neutral restrooms are accessible from the outside. There's also a coffee shop open in the morning and a restaurant open for dinner, but we didn't go to either. read more

Just drop me off when they open and pick me up when they close and I'd be as happy as the day is long. Here I fell in love... with the Maine Midnight Blueberry wine. OMG. When in Maine... drink BLUEBERRIES!! It was the most delicious chocolate smell and flavor notes. The Valpolicea reserva was also delicious and something I've never heard of or tasted before. The winery has an assortment of charcuterie to accompany your tasting, nice outdoor seating to enjoy a glass of wine, and the most delightful staff who may or may not have poured an extra tasting here or there when we weren't looking. We did the wine tasting and I mostly did all of the specialty wines which were great! The blueberry specialty wine (not the Maine midnight one) was so good! Very sweet, so if you like dry, basically none of the specialty are for you. My husband got the midnight Maine one which was very heavy on the brandy, so if you like brandy, you'll love that one. The environment was a little off just because you're sitting right by the parking lot and the road is right there. You just hear all the cars passing by. Service was nice, very knowledgeable and kind. Really lead you through the tasting while giving you time to be alone. And the added touch of a sampling of s'mores chocolate bar was nice as well. read more

A huge thank you to the team at Bar Harbor Cellars as they let us come in for a tasting right after the 4:30 last seating and then talked to us for a good 20 extra minutes after closing. Paul and his team did an amazing job of making us feel welcome and telling us about Sweet Pea's legacy on the farm. We did a tasting and very reasonable to pick 5 wines. Being the very end of their season, we hope to come back to try more of their wines someday. Our rockstars were the blueberry (extremely well balanced and not too sweet!), the Sangiovese, and the cranberry! We also bought a chocolate bar that had a sweat pea design on top - the dark chocolate, coffee, and blueberry in combination was outstanding. A cute winery in Bar Harbor..... Perhaps the only one . Their wines were good. Although None of their grapes are grown onsite, they do make their own wine. Grape vines are onsite just for looks. There was no discussion as to the type of wine we were tasting , considering the $12 per person tasting fee (6 choices ). Im taking away a star based on that. We got to take home our small wine glasses. The staff was pleasant but Interaction regarding our tastings is something we are used to when we go wine tasting in the Hudson Valley or the Fingerlakes. Came there last Saturday for wine testing since it's Heavy rain and we can't do anything else. They only open indoor, they said wait in time is about 40 mnts and will give us a call. They never call but we are camping so close to the winery anyway so we just swing by Seated in the bar. Sania is so nice and sweet. After two days of hiking, we decided to take a break and get some lobsters at rose eden and sample some wine. The winery is quite cute. There's a wine room, a chocolate room and some shelves full of Maine souvenirs for you to browse while you wait for a table. For the tasting itself, the bartenders come around with bottles of wine and pour you the wines you chose one by one. The only issue was that nobody really explained anything and most of the employees seemed a little bit disoriented. Exception is one of the guys who was really personable, funny and knowledgeable about his wines. Nothing struck as amazing - yet we still got the blueberry and apple raspberry wines as they were unique enough to bring back as souvenirs. We sat at one of the high tops, but if you can - I highly recommend snagging a spot at the bar itself if you're the type of person who likes to talk and discuss your wines with the owner/bartenders. We stopped her yesterday after a last minute schedule change in our trip. What a wonderful tasting! For a party of 6 without a reservation, we were able to be seated for our wine tasting in less than 5 minutes. For $12, we could taste 5 different wines. The three stars are for the wine, which just really missed the mark for me -- we each liked one of the four we tasted, and we're usually not picky wine drinkers. A super cute and cozy stop if you're in the area and looking for some delicious wine. This was a small, unsuspecting winery, that turned out to be better than expected. We did have to wait a bit since there aren't many tables outside, and there's no indoor seating currently due to covid, but it was well worth the wait. My wife and I are off to Bar Harbor and simply had to stop by Bar Harbor Cellar Winery for a tasting. We were both extremely glad that we did as this winery certainly has perfected the wine tasting experience. The day was beautiful as was the garden we sat in with lovely background guitar music. We both sampled several wines and found all of them flavorful, especially Blueberry which we decided to buy a bottle for later consumption. It was sweet with hints of blueberries. At the beginning of our fantastic experience, Eric, stopped by with our first pour and offed us complementary chocolates that paired nicely with our wine selections. When in Bar Harbor you want some diversions to enjoy your vacation and Bar Harbor Cellars Winery offers just that. While they have a few rows of vines, the grapes are not grown at the Winery. The winery offers a very nice atmosphere to sip some of their wines. I believe connoisseurs will find the wines come up short. This trip to Maine was on my 83 yr old dads bucket list as he had visited decades ago with my late mom. We loved sampling the local wines. We were lucky to have the wine maker serve us. The cranberry and blueberry wines were exceptional and some of the other wines had a wonderful balance between acidity and sweetness. Bar Harbor Cellars is one of the few wineries in the area. This place is quite scenic and picturesque! Wonderful wines and tastings. However the wait time was absolutely horrendous. For two people it took roughly 30 minutes to get a table. Partially, this place was at capacity during Covid-19. However, keep in mind this is OUTDOORS. they roughly had 10 tables and was probably able to seat 30 people max. However I felt they could have expanded their seating area to accomodate more people since this was OUTDOORS and they had plenty of space, rather than have patrons wait 30 minutes + (Another group of 7 waited for 1 hr+). Overall the wine tasting was good and the scenery was great, but the wait was just too much for me. read more

This is such a fun place! Mary and Eric were very fun and extremely outgoing. We went as a group of three and knew nothing about wine, and Mary walked us through the entire menu (every single wine) and explained it in detail. Later on, Eric came over and explained their famous blueberry wine to us, and really sold us on the blueberry reserve (we bought a bottle to-go). I wanted to love this place because I had heard good things from family members, unfortunately I don't have much good to say about it. Although we enjoyed several of the wines here, nothing blew us away but we certainly didn't hate anything either... what really killed us was how we were greeted and treated by the staff. One employee in particular acted as though we were an inconveinance, as though us showing up an hour before close was too close to end of day for them to serve us. More than that when doing the actually tasting our server was snippy and just not interested in talking to us or making small talk whatsoever. We were polite and unobtrusive, so this felt very rude. Visited Bar Harbor Cellars on Sunday afternoon. While I was not taken by the wines, a tasting on a sunny day is still a fun activity and a great break from hiking. Quality: We made our way through most of the wine menu with two Tastings. We tried the Riesling, Sauv. Blanc, Moscato & Pinot Noir Rose, Barbera, Syrah, Merlot, Valpolicella, Ripasso Valpolicella, Cabernet Sauvignon, Blueberry, Black-Currant Apple, and Blueberry Apple Cider. The lone standout was the Ripasso Valpolicella, a full bodied wine, that was rich and layered. And while the other wines were not bad, though I really did not like the Blueberry Apple Cider, which was too much like apple juice, nothing really impressed. It still is a good time tasting different wines, but don't expect to find many wines you want a full bottle of. Quantity: Solid pours during the Tasting to provide an opportunity to really taste the different wines. Value: $6 for a Tasting of six wines. $18-$25 for a Wine Bottle. Ambiance: Bar Harbor Cellars is a beautiful space in Bar Harbor, Maine, just ten minutes from Acadia National Park. From the road you can see the rows of vines, which provides a wonderful backdrop for either an outdoor tasting, or later in the evening dinner at the adjacent restaurant. In the center of the property there are a few buildings that act as a tasting room, as well as the restaurant. It is not the largest indoor space, though the high ceilings make it feel big, it has a long bar, a small room dedicated to bottles, and distanced shopping areas. Crowd: They only allow ten people inside the tasting room at a time, so on a rainy day expect a long wait. When they have the outdoor area, they significantly increase the capacity, but still expect each table full. As a fun alternative option to the National Park, it is tends to be a popular spot. Service: We had two servers rotating during our wine tasting. Both were very knowledgable about the wines available, gave excellent descriptions, and were always wearing masks. Bar Harbor Cellars was one of my favorite parts of visiting this part of Maine! It's a cute little winery with lots of charm and flavor! We did the tasting which was pretty cheap with good sized pours. Our staff member was great- not only did he give us commentary on the wine, he also gave us some jokes and tips for other Bar Harbor sites! They have a lot of fruit wines, including blueberry which is a must. The actual building that the Cellars is in is so rustic. It has tons of exposed wood and is very cozy. Enjoy some of the Crooked Porch Coffee samples (local roaster) and peruse the various rooms filled with wines, chocolates and unique gifts. My only wish is that I lived closer so I could visit more often! read more

They have CLEAR signage that says food after 4, but snacks of cheese and crackers are in a SELF SERVE fridge. I've been coming here for years for the blueberry wine. My heart breaks that hey are no longer carrying the dry red blueberry wine. That was the best one!! The apple wine is good, as is the sweet blueberry but none of them are as good as the dry blueberry. Sigh. Still a solid winery. It's not very big, and the patrons tend to be out-of-towners, especially true in the summer months. But it's a fun afternoon to come out here and try some local wines. The blueberries they use are all local. The bottles aren't that expensive (only one is over $20), and you will pay less than you would if you bought it in one of the shops in the Ha-Bah (Harbor). There are no r's in Maine. Stay for the wine tasting. It only takes about half an hour and is completely free. It's a great chance to try before you buy, and the guides really know their stuff. The wines do vary from year to year, so even someone who goes every year *cough cough* can still participate without feeling bad about it. I always come home with a few bottles.
