There are many activities that I can choose to get involved with, and many external programs I can take advantage of such as trips to the orchestra, Broadway shows, spirit of Philadelphia, and a variety of museums. There are interesting internal entertainment for those days that I like to stay close by such as musicals, resident plays, and Wine Flight Wednesdays. We also celebrate holidays as a community, such as our annual Halloween party, New Years Party, Superbowl party, and more. The biggest reason I moved here was the direct train access to Philadelphia to continue my part-time work at one of local universities. In addition, Whole Foods is right next door which makes shopping convenient. There are a few other restaurants, a pharmacy, and clothing stores, too.

As previously posted here, she was in relatively good shape when she entered Rydal Park; but shortly after we lost her. While I was there visiting, I witnessed staff (nurses or nursing aids) standing around socializing, talking amongst themselves, dancing, etc in the TV room. Very little attention paid to the patients! Needless to say, it was very disheartening and discouraging.

They could not give her medicine--I had to do it. They did not watch her and she had a fall. They told us they could handle patients with FTD, but the staff that was not up to the challenge. Artis Senior Living- Huntingdon Valley is a "god send." While my wife is difficult, the staff is up to the challenge. Starting with respecting all patients, they have managed to handle her meds, her incontinence and here wandering. They take responsibility for caring for her which gives our family the confidence that we can go about our business without constant interruptions. The "neighborhood concept" has made my wife feel part of community. She has friends and feels apart of an extended family and so do we.

place can be considered clean, but the residents are left with food and dirt all over them, their…read moreclothes, their wheel chairs etc. the patients in the long term care unit are neglected. my grandmother ended up with all kinds of injuries ranging from strange bruises to broken bones with ZERO EXPLANATION. lucky to even get notification ( if anyone does tell you it will be days if not weeks later) they charged us for equipment that she "needed" but they never used for her. the list could go on but the cherry on top was her being charged for her wheelchair and meds and other equipment from the day she died ON INTO THE NEXT MONTH. dead in the ground but somehow using there stuff. this place will drain your loved one of all there money(extremely expensive to be treated less then human) , threaten to kick them out once they run out of money, and then will charge you for supplies even after they are dead gone and in the ground. if i could rate this place a zero i would. the fraud was definitely the icing on the cake though!

I am an aid for several seniors at this facility. It is a nice place to live but there are not a…read morelot of consistent activities unless you're one of the younger seniors. It's a beautiful but I have been working there for 3 years dinners are awful. It's a ton of potatoes with a few small pieces of mean and under seasoned nearly raw vegetables. And dinners are 25 dollars a plate. I ask why the seniors don't complain they say they have been for years and are tired of it. I've seen the food they are getting from the time I started it's awful they minus will give Them ramen with a few pieces of dehydrated chicken. It's pretty sad. Charge a fortune for these retirement homes and are just giving them less and less paying people less and less and charging more so the big guy can pocket the money!
