First timing trying this place out with my little niece for our Yes day. First impression, valet dudes are extremely rude and unreasonable. When I arrived, there's a straight forward parking space for me to drive up. However, a valet personnel came out to stop me & demand their complimentary service when I didn't need help at all. I guess they want tip & utilize the AC with access to my car which is annoying. This nail salon has pretty interior decoration. The front still has Valentines decor with roses on the ceiling. They have a large selection of colors to choose from. I'm amazed at how big this place is along with the amount of tech they have. Quality: Jay did my Gel X rose gold chrome manicure set. He's very friendly and skillful. He paid attention to details and made sure I'm happy with mine. My set last well so far (1 week out). However, my little niece set is very cute with tips on as well. She has a very cute purple butterfly design with chrome as well. Although her set barely lasted 3 days and falling off which is disappointing. I know kids mani didn't have to be in comparison to adult. But still, with a long time Houston nail bar stable with influencer raved about it, I expect their techs to be a bit more consistent with the quality of work. read more

Gloss Nail Bar provides high quality service every time I patronize their establishment. The interior of the salon is very inviting and stylish year round, but Gloss really goes all out decorating for the holidays! When I went for a manicure around Halloween, the whole salon was decked out in spooky but spectacular Halloween decorations! It was honestly impressive and entertaining to look at. Service is always exceptional. I have never had a bad manicurist at Gloss. My only warning is to ask up front how much certain things cost. For example, I asked for a foil acetone removal rather than a soak, and it was an extra charge which was not made clear to me when I requested it. On this particular trip to Gloss, my manicure turned out exactly how I wanted it! I wasn't sure how my nail artist would bring my request to life, but she layered different colored foils over a black dip base, and it was perfect! Note: I strongly recommend making an appointment because wait times for walk-ins can be long. Also, parking at Gloss is almost impossible. They have free valet (but be prepared to tip) or try to find street parking and walk. read more

5 Stars for the salon, 3.5 stars for valet. I asked around for a nail salon and was recommended this place. I got married on Friday 10/13 and wanted something spooky yet romantic. I booked a Master and booked gel x and was not disappointed! Worth every penny. Daniel was quick, accurate and friendly plus when i showed him the design I wanted he saw my vision and it ended up being exactly what I was looking for. I rated the valet 3.5 because I waited in line, with my blinker on to get to the valet stand but a woman cut in front of me and the valet did nothing about it. There were other people waiting in line behind me like civilized people and when I was finally helped I brought it up but they were dismissive. No apologies for not acknowledging me being in line. This luxury nail spa is definitely a splurge. I don't frequent this place often because their price point is more expensive than other competing nail spas. (The most I've ever paid for the same designs I always get) however, if I'm looking for something to get done right consistently, I will say this place does value quality. I've never seen them do anything but the soak off method to remove gel manicures (as it should be) and that in itself is a good selling point. Other places depending on tech will jump straight to buffing it with a drill to remove your polish and save time and that often times thins my nail beds out and I really don't like that. Their decorations are always cute and festive and everything is well maintained. You won't find much nail polish stains all over their furniture which is a good sign they value maintenance. Even down to the details of providing drinks with a closed lid is very thoughtful so nail dust particles don't fly into your drink I also like their feature of booking online with time slots ahead of time so you don't have to call. Their nail techs are also detailed checking in with you and fixing something if you aren't happy with it. I also like that they stay current with nail trends! I recently visited Glass Nail Bar in Houston with a few friends. While the space itself is aesthetically very pleasing, I don't feel the service matched the look or the price point. My service felt rushed, as if the goal was to finish quickly to move on to the next customer rather than provide a quality experience. For what they charge, I expected more attention and care. It felt like a volume-over-quality type of place, and I believe I can get a much better service elsewhere for the same or even a lower price. Another great gloss experience ! We've never come at a rush-hour time, so I was a little nervous about how the experience would be - but the staff was amazing! They were accommodating, communicative, and efficient while being totally booked ! Despite having to wait for about 30 minutes past our appointment time, we still give gloss 5 stars as they continue to live up to the quality we expect ! When our wait time kept going on, they did come and check in with us on updates. Part of the wait was also because we wanted 2 seats next to each other. read more

Amelia was great and was able to recreate the nail design that I wanted! The ambiance is very nice, I love that the place is clean, sanitary, and aesthetically pleasing. The service was also great and they were very professional. The only downside is parking, there is nearby valet(?) parking available for $20, otherwise you'd have to park on the street, which can get tricky on weekends (but that's Montrose in general). Right now during the pandemic, we aren’t allowed to serve open containers and glass. We are only offering bottle water until we are allowed to serve our usual drinks again

For dip manicures -- do you dip multiple hands in the powder jars, or do you use separate sterile containers of powder for each client?

When I went in for my first dip, the nail tech used the whole powder jar for each of my nails. It had the brand on it and everything so I'm not sure how sanitary that is. Using separate containers sounds like a great idea though!

If I would like nail extensions, would the technician use tips or forms?

We would be using tips.

How much do you charge for refills?

Starts at $25 polish refill and then $35 refill for gel/color powder

How much is a shellac manicure? I get powder under the shellac.

Shell mani is $32 if you don't have gel on and $36 if you have gel. It would be $37 for you to soak off the powder and then do a shellac mani though.

There wasn't much that could physically be done to make it right because it was closing and the techs left. But the guys at the front desk were less than helpful and basically tried to convince me the cost of the supplies is what warranted the +$15 +$20 +$10. A $5 discount for an outing that was suppose to be memorable for two little girls was ruined when they couldn't execute the SIMPLE vision and then the solution was "it is what it is". If you come here on the regular, I applaud you for navigating the system. As a new comer we are definitely a once and never again.

On another visit, I had Hailey again, and she was extremely rude when I asked her to show me the available colors. In a very condescending manner, she told me that I had to choose the color she was showing me. I eventually called and asked to speak with either Vanessa or Amanda. I was told that one of them would call me back. That call never happened. I'm still waiting for it, and this was a couple of years ago! I recently looked at their reviews out of curiosity and honestly couldn't believe how many negative reviews they've received. Unfortunately, based on my own experience, I'm not surprised. As a business owner myself, I would have expected a completely different level of customer service, especially toward someone who had been a loyal customer for years. Customers should feel valued and respected, not treated as though they are an inconvenience. Needless to say, I never went back.

Had anyone bothered to contact me -- a call, a text, an email, anything -- I could have slid into that slot or taken my business to Adore Nails or Memorial Nail Care, both of which maintain a full staff capable of doing amazing designs. Instead, I received zero communication. I showed up to my appointment only to be told they don't honor that particular nail technician's bookings and that their systems haven't been updated to reflect that. So you're actively allowing clients to book a specific technician through your online portal, knowing full well those preferences will be ignored? That's not a miscommunication -- that's a scam- a bait and switch. The available staff could not do designs, which I was fully aware of -- which is exactly why I chose this technician specifically. I was left with no real options and settled for a plain manicure. My cuticles were done well, but my "oval" nails are not oval, and my gel is visibly bumpy -- not a smooth finish in sight. I could have done better myself. Unfortunately I didn't have the time, which is precisely why I booked with someone I knew would make it worth it -- only to be completely ignored. Fix your booking system. Contact your clients when there's a change. Don't advertise a service you have no intention of honoring. Your front desk girl is very patient, very sweet, and was very apologetic. She should not have had to apologize for what is clearly a failure of management.
