She gave me a moment to get settled before starting, which I appreciated. The wax itself felt a bit rough, but nothing out of the ordinary. I was on the phone with a friend to distract myself, and I began to notice she kept going over the same areas repeatedly, almost as if the wax wasn't grabbing the hair. When she finished, she let me check the results--and that's when I noticed that about 75% of the hair was still there, just broken off the way it looks when you shave. I tried to discuss it with her, and she attempted to go over the area again, but the wax still wasn't picking anything up. I was disappointed and asked for a reasonable solution, especially since I now have to wait for the hair to grow back to at least 1/2 inch before anyone can fix it. She told me she couldn't offer a discount and that I was still responsible for the full balance. When I asked to speak with the manager, she told me she was the manager and that the head manager wouldn't return until Wednesday. When I asked for their contact information, she refused. After pushing the issue and explaining my concerns, I was eventually offered a free service. Overall, the service was poorly done, and as a loyal customer for years, I'm extremely disappointed. My wax feels prickly--like porcupine quills--and that's absolutely not the result I expect from this place. So disappointed.

Anyway, I swallowed my fears and booked an appointment at EWC through their easily navigated, and very convenient, app. I didn't have a tech preference when booking since I'd never been to EWC. I got Cara, and I feel I lucked out, even though I'm sure the other girls are nice. Cara was very easy going, soft spoken, and informative (and super professional!). I told her it was my first time doing bikini and asked her not to tell me when she was going to remove the strip, she obliged. She kept a light conversation going the whole time which really, really relaxed me and took my mind off of being stark naked (from the waist down) in the butterfly position with someone navigating around my vagina. The whole procedure took maybe 10-12 minutes (full bikini) and I am more than satisfied with first time results. I wouldn't say it's "painful" so much as it is uncomfortable and hot. The wax is warm, but the sting of the rip makes the skin feel like it's burning, but I swear only for a few moments. I have a relatively low pain threshold so I'd be honest. The actual pain is about 2-3 seconds immediately following strip removal, but truly, it's not terrible. I was geared up for *much* worse and was relieved. The redness subsided after about 3-4 hours and everything is nice and clean. I'm very pleased and look forward to continuing with this method of hair removal.

I signed up for S Pass and didn't use it as much as I thought I would, ending up with over $300 in credit for services. I asked the manager if it would be possible to pause membership and still use my credit before resuming. She told me that she could remove my payment method from the account, the membership would still be active, I could use my credit, and add a payment method back later on. Perfect. Except that not only did this suspend my membership, and so did not work the way it was explained to me, in the intervening month the entire program was discontinued. Corporate headquarters informed me that (though when signing up for the Pass there was no indication that I was entering a contract with anyone other than the corporate entity), they took no responsibility for this or the fact that there was NO NOTIFICATION of the termination of the program sent to members. They flatly refused any assistance and told me it was the Memphis franchisee's responsibility to resolve the issue. I called the manager again. She returned my call saying that I could at least begin paying the monthly fee again and not be out the over $300 that I had lost. I went into the store to do so and had booked a service as well. When I arrived, I was informed that I could not, in fact, do this. I was provided a free service that day (the manager, to be fair, was as helpful as I think she was able to be at this point), but am still out a fair amount of money. I hate that I cannot continue to visit Tiana for service - again, she is fantastic - but I cannot give business to an establishment that wouldn't even offer to split the difference on a gift card to keep a loyal customer.

Unlike conventional wax is composed of rubber resins and other potentially harmful chemicals. All of my six visits were serviced by Danielle, loved her! Unfortunately she's no longer working at the franchise in efforts of receiving her degree. Which I salute and applaud her because school isn't for the weak! My last two recent visits were serviced by Sarah. Professional, personable and comforting through her words of encouragement. I'm elaborating the word "comforting " because if you're a first time wax (conventional or sugaring) client it could be misleading as everyone's tolerance level towards pain varies.
