Odilia is a sorceress and exactly what I needed today (or yesterday since I'm writing this past midnight). I had an appointment on the last day on August because it's a monthly subscription that was about to expire. I've been to Glowbar since getting a Thanksgiving deal last year and have seen some pretty good aestheticians - the type of facial each provides is slightly different in terms of how intense they go on extractions and taking into account personal needs. Of the five or so aestheticians, Odilia is the one that made me say "I need to write a review, she was THAT good" - she takes the perfect amount on control on her appointments that creates trust with the client and also tries to understand each client's needs and current routine, giving answers that are small basic changes and have scientific backing. Overall I've really enjoyed my time going to Glowbar - and I noticed yesterday they finally replaced the grody seating in the waiting area that had water stains. They try to maintain a clean look and sometimes they have freebies that are great. read more

I was in the city & wanted some self care time while I waited for my family member in the hospital. I booked my appointment for that afternoon. Check in was on a tablet in the lobby, & then an associate introduced me to Glowbar & how their facials work. I washed my face at their wash sink & then waited to be called back. My tech was Fatu, she took her time & explained every step, & how she would educate me on what needs my skin/skincare needs were. Awesome place to go. I went in to get my facial done and requested we focus on hydration and my aesthetician did exactly that. We did extractions with hydrations masks and red + blue light therapy for my skin. I typically go to Tribeca but when they're booked I'll venture across town to this location. This location is probably the largest and definitely feels cozier than the other locations. I had my first experience at Glowbar last week but definitely not my last. I love a good facial but I have always felt I don't need the full spa experience (or price). The Glowbar UES space is bright and clean, it was bustling with great energy when I came. I checked in, washed my face and was seated no more than 3 mins before my esthetician came to get me for my service. Kimmy was excellent; friendly and informative but left me to silently relax with my mask (note: LOVE that Glowbar asks pre-booking how chatty you want your service to be! What a brilliant move for an introvert like myself). Post-service, my skin was soft and glowing for days. I travel to NY often for work and will definitely be back. There are enough locations that I know I'll be only minutes from an affordable, efficient facial that will have me looking radiant for my meetings. read more

My usual spot was super booked so I decided to try this one on a whim since it's walking distance. As a skincare enthusiast be honest the whole "30 min facial" thing didn't give me any expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. I've been here twice and they are very detailed and knowledgeable. They suggest treatment options based off your skin type and so far I've gotten derma-planning and extractions, and I have been pleased with both. I've been here maybe 6 times and stopped after the last due to the price increase for a single treatment at $75 - not $65. Once you tip 20%+ you're pushing almost $100. Of course you can get a monthly membership - but i hate memberships. The price is fine - but for what you get I began to look elsewhere because I also wanted a stronger medical peel and more extractions. Everyone who works here is amazing and friendly! Visited this location twice and had similar experiences both times. Space is very simple and clean. I see in reviews a lot of people are upset and surprised about you washing your own face but I didn't mind. This facial is definitely a quick facial. I do it more as a pick me up/fun day activity than a medically beneficial facial. I find the aestheticians are always kind and I like the red light or the dermaplaning. There products are made in South Africa which is a super cool fun fact. If you are looking for a fun 30 minute activity come here but if you are looking for a result driver continuous facial I would seek elsewhere! read more

So last week I got a facial at this location for the first time and I don't know what it is but they are doing a good job by keeping the same vibe and environment at each location. I got a facial with Leah she's very kind and she has a charming personality. SHE DID THAT!!! Great vibes, great music and very safe environment!! Arrive a few minutes earlier that way you get to take a few flicks at the wash-bar ;) So this is how it works... You arrive they'll check you in and take your temperature. You will start with washing your face yourself. Then wait till you esthetician comes get you. They'll ask you safety questions and then perform a 30 minutes facial with a customized treatment for your skin concerns. My overall experience with Glowbar is 10s across the board! i came in here on a whim between appointments and they were able to take me in as a walk in. i told the woman i had a very important day coming up that i wanted me skin to look great for and all she did was rub creams on face and place hot towels on and off for a majority of the time. she did extractions which have left my face with so many bumps, redness, scabs and new pimples. no facial massage, no explanations, nothing relaxing Waste of $80 with tip and now I need to find a way to heal my face before my big day read more

I truly never leave reviews, but I just had an appointment here Wednesday and had a really lovely experience. I have never had a 30 minute facial before, but I can appreciate that this means your time with your esty is alll business. You wash your face at a cute sink setup, then quick let your esthetician know what you need for your skin. Honestly, this is a spot for those who love skincare, already know what they need and want monthly visits for specific treatments (derma planning, LED, etc), maybe not for those who would benefit from a longer more intensive facial (i.e I didn't have an extractions but that's ok with me, I wanted to focus on derma planning). I have a membership for glow bar my first experience in Long Island was AMAZING! I signed up for the membership because my face was flawless! I absolutely loved the facial. I tried UES because it is walking distance from my apartment complex. I arrived 30 minutes early because I remembered my first time I was directed to wash my face ect. When I arrived, the blonde lady (whom clearly did not want me there or was annoyed at the world) point at the screen told me to fill out missing paperwork. Once done I went back to her THINKING I was going to be directed to wash my face but instead she pointed at benches to sit down. 7:25 rolls around the esthetician sees me with my dry face asks me to go to the back no introduction. I tell her this month my choice of treatment is derma planning she proceeds to tone my face dry it, and start derma planning, she scratched my face and refused to do my chin because she didn't want to hurt (I have no acne on my face, no real texture except) she proceeds with the high frequency wand and swiftly passes on my face. Add a chemical peel that burned my face and then adds a mask. Puts me under the BLUE light after I specifically asked for the RED light. Thinking I could not see through the cotton pads she had on my face without the protective blue small goggles she had placed right next to her in the trey. She tells me skin is really dry and add moisturizer that didn't feel like much and sent me packing. During the dermaplanning, she also cut off multiple strands of my edges! I will never come here again from the unprofessionalism from the front desk. And the poor bedside manner and inexperienced esthetician this place is a joke compared to the one in Roselyn. I rather drive my car 35 miles one way then to deal with ever again! read more

I had a great experience with my esthetician, Kayla this morning! I really feel as though this place provides great value for the price, so much so that I purchased a membership after my service! Kayla was so kind and informative during my facial. She addressed all of my skincare concerns and tailored my service to what I needed! We also talked about a treatment plan moving forward. Some problem areas of mine were left for future appointments, but I didn't mind because of my acneic skin and the time constraints. So not only was this my first time at Glowbar, it was my first facial ever. I had heard good things about this place and I'm SO happy I tried it. Everyone working there was EXTREMELY warm and kind. I immediately felt welcomed and at ease. The place is beautiful and feels super clean. I joined Glowbar in November of 2020 and have gone every single month through December 2021. The only reason I'm stopping my membership is because I'm moving to a different state that does not have a Glowbar location (yet!). As a healthcare worker who has had to wear PPE every day for nearly two years now, this was the best decision I made for my skin. I get so many compliments on how good my skin looks. The staff is amazing and so helpful!! Always happy to answer my questions and give recommendations, but never pushed me to buy their products. I am writing this after my 2nd visit at this location. The first visit was very pleasant. I arrived right on time and my aesthetician (Leah) was very friendly. She was excited to welcome me for my first visit, spent a good amount of time explaining procedures and getting to know me & my skin type, and was such a delight! After that experience I decided to commit to their membership. Basically, if you commit to coming in once per month you save $10/facial and get some more perks with membership. So, I signed up for my second visit excited and ready to start my membership! Unfortunately their availability is so limited that at first I was going to have to wait a full 2 weeks from when I wanted a facial. Luckily though I got off the waitlist for an appointment only 1 week away and committed to coming in then, although the timing was perfectly ideal with my other commitments (12:40pm on a Saturday when I would have preferred a weekday afternoon or evening). I walked to my appointment and realized I'm running a little bit late. I got a phone call when I was 5 minutes late from the receptionist informing me that if I got there within 5 minutes everything would be fine and I wouldn't miss my appointment. So, I hopped into a cab and rushed there just to be extra sure I didn't miss my appointment. When I arrived, I was greeted by both the receptionist and the aesthetician. The receptionist acted like everything was normal but the aesthetician greeted me very coldly, informed me that I was 11 minutes late (the extra minute because they were talking to me), and that because of that she could only offer me a mini-treatment (15 min) that I would still have to pay full price for. This was certainly disappointing news as it was something that could have been relayed to me over the phone when the receptionist called. I'm not sure I would have paid for a cab to rush there for a downgraded treatment at full price. The receptionist did say one other alternative would be to rebook the appointment for another day to get the full service. However, the only days she offered me were Easter and the day after, when I would be with family for the holiday. Both of those were over a week away (and a full 2 weeks after I decided I needed a facial in the first place). So, I asked if I could just get a refund, which was met with a resounding "NO, we don't do that". However, looking on their website it does look like they should have been able to offer me a $25.00 fee option for a missed appointment. Then, my loss would have just been $25 not the cab fare to rush there + half of the value of the facial (which is more than $25!). I reluctantly agreed to take the mini-treatment that day because the alternate dates weren't an option for me. The aesthetician remained very cold with me and rushed through the treatment. She was not at all empathetic, kind, understanding, or welcoming. I felt like she was disappointed I even bothered to come in if I was going to be an egregious 10 minutes late. When I checked out there was a new receptionist who did not seem to care when she asked how my treatment was and I just said "okay". I was then charged the full (non-member) price and when I asked about it no real explanation was given as to why - I think it's because it was clear I wasn't going to come back after this experience. Getting a facial is supposed to be a relaxing treat. This experience was exactly the opposite. As someone who was ready to commit to a monthly membership, I can't believe that the staff would treat me with such hostility for being 10 minutes late for an appointment. This is NYC, people are late all the time. If you want to keep a customer, be welcoming, empathetic, and try to resolve things in a way that works out for everybody! Even just offering me the $25 cancellation fee option that I was entitled to MIGHT have made me consider coming back and doing the membership, but now they have lost a customer for life! ***Long story short - there are millions of places you can go to for a facial in NYC. Most can get you an appointment within less than 1 week, which The Glowbar cannot. While they may cost slightly more, the experience will be more luxurious and most will not treat you like total garbage for being 10 minutes late. That expectation of a base level of customer service and hospitality is worth paying $10 more per facial to me, so I have no idea why anyone would put up with The Glowbar staff if they are trained to treat customers like that.*** read more

My first mistake was going to a place I saw on an instagram ad...This is not a relaxing spa experience - expect lots of chatter and loud pop music in the background. You wash your own face at a washing station prior to going to the rooms. My "facial" was only 20-25 minutes long, not the 30 minutes advertised. It consisted of a glycolic acid peel which was left on for about 5 minutes. Then warm towels were placed on my face and left there for about 5 minutes. There is no facial massage. You could tell from the energy the aesthetician was giving off that she was over it - did not make eye contact with me at all during the experience, left the room during periods of the facial. When it came to extractions i told her not to go crazy and she attempted my nose for 3 seconds then gave up and offered LED therapy. Unfortunately she did not have the proper eye protection for this therapy and I was offered only extremely ill-fitting "goggles" that are placed on top of cotton pads. I could not tolerate the amount of time allotted for this therapy due to the improper eye protection - when i told my aesthetician this she simply gave up and just placed moisturizer on my face and I was done. Left with a headache as a result. There was no facial massage or anything else offered to fill the time-- i felt like i was just laying there waiting for the facial to start the whole time. Very odd experience as someone who has had a lot of facials i'm not sure what this experience was or what I was charged for. Would not go here expecting a true facial experience. read more
