If you can help it, do not, I repeat DO NOT use GMG Transport. I currently attend FSU and travel back to Southand has started using GMG because of its affordability. However, the complete lack of reliability on GMG's end to even offer the ride has pushed me to spend over twice as much just so I know that I can actually get where I need to go. They constantly cancel trips due to "mechanical issues", but you have to be a complete fool to believe that load of bull sh*t. Just this past week they emailed me separately cancelling my to and from legs of my round trip, which has happened far too many times to count (even as little as 10 minutes before scheduled departure). In fact, they're so full of it they must have somehow missed the fact that they already notified me about cancelling the trip and emailed me again the night before the trip cancelling it for a second time. I have been waiting for DAYS for any type of response concerning my refund being processed. The agent who emailed me couldn't have been bothered to respond to my first or second email requesting my refund (as they usually do with refunds) but they sure did have time to send out another email at 1:00 in the morning the day before my already cancelled scheduled departure. Not to mention that their agents apparently don't know how to look at a calendar and line up the day of the week with the numerical date of the month (i.e. Monday June 30th when the Monday was actually July 1st). This has happened NUMEROUS times and I've had to correct them more than once. They are a trash company that offer completely unreliable services. Unless you like giving your money to people just to hold onto it for months and then give it back to you after you've already spend nearly double somewhere else, I wouldn't bother even looking at their tickets - they're just going to be cancelled anyways. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I am so upset at this company that I wish there was a way to report them. Every single time I try and call to get a ticket I have to call over 15+ throughout the day. Today I called every phone number on the website all day until their office closed and no answer. I feel neglected as a customer. The times that I get through to someone they are irritable, short, and pain rude to answer questions that are either unclear or unanswered in the website. Also the prices are usually inconsistent with what it says on the website. After the battle of getting the tickets I have rushed out of class several times to get to this bus and often sat there for up to 35 minutes for it to leave. The promised Wi-Fi is non-existent, I have asked every time and always told that there isn't any. We were on a 7 hour drive and the restroom was out of order so I nicely asked if we would stop at a rest stop and was denied that too in a very rude tone which is ridiculous. It's bad enough to spend that much time in a smelly bus with strangers, no entertainment, and no bathroom, they could atleast have been nice about it. The only good thing about this company which earns them the one star is that for $5 you can send a package. However when we went to pick up the package we were not even asked who we were, we were told to "just grab whichever one is yours". It is unfortunate that on the few breaks the students get they have to deal with this, simply because it's cheap but I guess you get what you pay for. I cannot believe the City of Gainesville and the other entities in Gainesville let this bus service withstand. This quite possibly be the WORST customer experience I have experienced. Like everyone said, beware of your credit card or debit card information. I bought a round trip ticket for $55 online with a credit card and they charged me $68 for what they deem is NOT a premium weekend -- first thing wrong. Then charged me a few weeks later an additional $13. I purchased a ticket for a Friday afternoon and return Sunday. I received a confirmation via email and the return date was wrong. After many emails because they will not answer their calls except to tell you to email an AOL EMAIL ADDRESS (second time I knew it was a scam). Later I read on the BBB that they do this to other customers and probably on purchase. They want you to buy another ticket. Before purchasing the ticket, I did call to find out the details of the service. They were unprofessional and rude on the phone when I asked how the traveling and purchasing works for this organization. They just tell you to buy it online and quickly. When you look at their website it looks questionable. This is where I should have gone with my gut. When you call the emergency line no one answered. When you call the regular line which I am assuming it is a Miami cell phone no one answers like others said they want to you contact them via email because they know most are calling to complain. The students I work with advised me several times not to do business with this company as they have a reputation of poor customer service and just so happening to charge your cards again. I am disgusted that this company is allowed to market to students. As a professional, at least I can afford to lose the $75 or so dollars they have stolen from me because I never did ride the bus. I feel bad for the students who probably do not have much money, probably do not have a car and are just trying to go home to see their families. I caution parents and students. My favorite part is they threatened to sue me -- obviously this is a South Florida company because this is what the scam capital of the country likes to say when trying to scare people. Classy. I will be filling Ride the Megabus, Red Coach or whichever is available except the GMG. When do they get shut down. They do not have social media for these reasons so it can not be communicated what kind of business they are. read more

Horrible! My 70 yeàr mother and daughter were planning on coming up to Gainesville FL for my son's 3rd bday party and had a horrible experience. My daughter has been coming at 4 years and catching the bus by the Home Depot. Suddenly, they decided to change a meeting point to the Tiger Direct Store. The store has been out of business and the sign has been torn down. Thinking they were going to Home Depot, they waited and waited and waited early the bus never came. Could not find the TigerDirect store because the sign was torn down and missed the bus. I finally called the bus service and ask them to go back and pick them up they declined so they had to use their own vehicle to come up here. So now we have wasted all the money for tickets and additional time and money on gas. My daughter had to drive her vehicle home and my mom took the returning bus back. About an hour into the trip the bus broke down for 2 1/2 hours in the middle of nowhere. She did not get reception on her phone. The bus driver said that this bus had broken down so many times. They had to wait for another bus to come and change buses. So since her bus was broken down or she didn't have reception her ride to pick her up did not know she was going to be over 3 hours late, mind you that would put the bus back in Miami after 1 a. M.. my mother is almost 70 years old! every time I contacted GMG, which was very difficult to do, they are rude to me and said they could not do anything for us that it was our fault we missed the bus! So we did not get reimbursed for the missed bus ride! If it's our fault that we missed the bus shouldn't be our fault that they broke down? The least they could do is offer the riders a complimentary trip to redeem themselves, instead they are left with a Bus full of unsurly pissed off bus riders, and a family that had to rearrange everything, spend money they didn't have she celebrate a young boys birthday party. I don't think we will ever ride GMG again. We will go to Red Coach. I had written them a direct email, but never got a response. This is just bad business! read more

Put my daughter on the bus going from Gainesville to Miami today. She is a recent grad and needed to work while on the bus so WiFi was a must. She's 3 hours into the trip and no WiFi. We called the bus service and they said their should be WiFi and they were working on the problem. Seems lame to have a bus service with no WiFi. Don't advertise you have WiFi when clearly there are multiple reviews expressing WIFI issues. Wanted her to check this bus service out for my son who goes to UF when he wants to visit his sister in Miami but no dice. Will be looking for other companies. read more

I have travel credit that I haven't been able to use because they stopped doing trips since April. I've spokent to them about this and was told I would get a call back and never did. It was not bat going to Geinville. I never thought about going through something like this in this country. The going was good and we arrived on time. The return was orrible, a bus very battered and old and worse things 4 hours delay that we had to wait because it broke. We were from 8:30 standing at the edge of the road, in the dark and without air conditioning and unable to get out by the mosquitoes until the rescue bus arrived at 12:25 At dawn, we arrived at our destination at 2:45. The driver kept us abreast of what was happening. In the face of anxiety and discomfort, we can say that he did everything in his power. My son is allergic asthmatic and for a while the oxygen went down, you could hardly breathe until they opened the roof windows. It was a terrifying experience. They sent the rescue bus and we finally finished the trip. But one does not expect to go through something like that, especially when it is the first experience with this company. spent $50 on a bus ride from UCF to pompano beach round trip. ride down was okay, bus left a bit late and arrived a bit late. no worries there. no wifi or restroom as advertised, eh whatever no biggie. on the return trip, however i had been waiting inside the service plaza since it was raining. GMG tells passengers to arrive 30 minutes early yet at 6:45 the bus had not arrived so I went inside to shelter myself from the rain. came outside at 6:57 and the bus was there. So I walked up, happy to be on my way home and catch some rest. Instead, the bus started driving away. Note that i was in front of the bus before it drove away, so the driver would have seen me. A parent in a car honked to help notify the bus driver, but apparently at GMG 3 minutes is more valuable than a college student getting back to school. I was left running up the entrance ramp in the rain with all my luggage, soaked and stranded. A call to GMG told me that I would have to email for a complaint--makes sense, so that they can just ignore it. Fortunately, a mere 30 minutes later a bus from Jet Set Express, Inc. arrived. I had no ticket, yet the driver understood my situation and waited as I called their support to quickly buy a ticket. Although they do not stop at UCF as GMG does, the driver was quick and had the customer's satisfaction as a priority. To sum it all up I will never be riding with GMG again. I wish I had checked the reviews here, only 1.5 stars, or I would have never ridden with them. read more

Paid $45 for Gainesville to pompano. Bus was clean and air conditioned but no WiFi. Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Everything a college student needs. Exceeded my expectations for the incredibly low price. Will be riding again. read more

I am a student at the university of florida just trying to go home for a weekend once in a while, why does Gmg have to give me problems? Gmg trans is cheap but has horrible customer service. Gmg lies about having wifi on their buses, I know because I have been on just about every bus they own and it never fails to have it's wifi "out of service." So you can't sue them for false advertisement because they have wifi but you can't actually connect to it. It's pretty unbelievable how they will lie to your face about it. I unfortunately have to keep using them because I am a broke college student but believe me every chance I get I try to find another company with specials. If you can help it do not use this bus service. Try Red coach or grey hound because they have a good refund policy with really understanding representatives. It is unfortunate that GMG transport has a monopoly on the student bus system from northern Florida universities to south Florida. The bus drivers are very sweet but the customer support contact Lilliam Paez is extremely unprofessional. She is cut throat and does not care about her customers or employees for that matter. If you have any problems what so ever please hash it out with a bus driver or the bus escorts (personnel that rides on the bus to supervise the trip). Do not contact the customer support because they will go out of their way to make things difficult for you. I only know this because I was told by a bus driver once after this lady Lilliam gave him specific instructions to give me a hard time after I had emailed her about a discrepancy on behalf of Gmg. I couldn't believe it and I kind of still can't. Oh well. I hope this gives future customers a fair warning. read more

Be careful buying from GMG Transport using a credit card. I bought one on the internet using my credit card, and they charged my card an additional $25. I got an email saying it was a problem with my card. I called to ask about it, and they said I needed to send an email. I did, twice, and they never got back to me with an answer. On top of that, the bus is old, smells of urine, and the bathroom is disgusting. Megabus is much nicer, and less expensive. read more

After having read horrible online reviews of this company elsewhere, I got ready for a third-world country travel experience. Traveling through south-east Asia using public transportation, I've seen it all - chickens on the roof, an entire family moving an entire house, a very uncomfortable 8-hour 100 mile journey sitting sideways on the gas tank wedged in between baskets of fresh produce, departures several hours late, and then there's of course the unforgettable team-effort attempt to dislodge the bus from a pool of mud in the middle of nowhere in the mountains in Laos. To my great surprise, the Miami-Gainesville GMG bus was a regular bus (although not particularly new), it had six wheels (none missing), showed up on time (actually early), my name was on the list of booked passengers, I got a seat, and apart from a 30-minut delay acquired at the first stop where other passengers were unable to comprehend the boarding process, the journey went smoothly. The Miami-Gainesville route makes one 30-min rest stop half way through which I believe isn't on the website. But the problems that other people seem to have are clearly explained in advance on the company's website. What else do you people want for that price?!? Overall I had a good experience with the company for both legs of the journey. The reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it was freezing cold despite 80F weather outside. Remember to bring a blanket, and forget about the free wifi, and you might even have a good trip. read more

I have traveled with GMG transport several times in the past year. Do not expect to use their "Wi-Fi" because you will be very disappointed. Also, there are two rest stops along the usual route GMG takes. One of them is small and inconvenient, given that there are only two fast food restaurants and an expensive, little food mart. As you can imagine, the lines are long, and you are lucky if you are able to order and eat a meal during the 25-30 minutes time limit. The second rest stop is much larger and has several eating options. In spite of both locations running along the same route, GMG frequently chooses the least convenient location to it's passengers. As a result, I have gone on a couple six hour Miami trips with little more than a bottle of milk in my stomach from the food mart because there was no way I could make the lines in time. Their customer service is terrible. I reserved a roundtrip with GMG for the two week break after the Summer C semester this August. I made the purchase 6 days before my departure date (a Monday), and it took them over 72 hours (a Thursday) to email me a confirmation, but only after I called to remind them. Twenty-four hours after I arrived at my destination (the following Monday), I was notified by one of my scholarships of an important event, which conflicted with my GMG reservation. I immediately and politely requested to have my return date changed to the next trip before the conflicting date. They finally replied to my emails two days before the date I needed to leave by (a week and a half after sending my first email) saying that I did not qualify for the return date change because the rules state that I had to notify them at least 72 hours BEFORE departing on the first leg of the roundtrip. I did not know what else to do, so I called the GMG office to speak to the manager, but I was told she was not present at the time. They told me that emails take priority, but that I could leave my name and number and the manager would be notified of my call, so I did just that. As the office recommended, I also emailed the manager with my concerns, explaining my circumstance in detail, and asking that she please consider how important resolving this issue was to me. I did not hear back from her or anyone else from GMG. The only options I had left was to either miss the mandatory event and face the consequences or find someone to pitch a ride with. Almost at the last minute, I was fortunate enough to find a stranger on a Facebook group who happened to be looking for someone to carpool with to where I needed to go. GMG has a no refund policy, and as you can tell by now, they make absolutely no exceptions, so asking for a refund was pointless. When I sent the latest email there were still 10 seats open for the date I wanted to change my return date to. No additional seats were sold when I checked the morning of the departure for that trip. They really had nothing to lose by assisting a loyal customer in need. read more

This is probably the worst bus transport I've ever been on. First they advertise that most of their buses have WiFi, this is FALSE. Every bus that I've been on has had no WiFi (I've taken the bus at least 10 times ), the only reason I've heard taken this bus multiple signs is because at one point it was the cheapest and fastest option. Second, they do not inspect their buses before sending them off, I've had three buses break down, causing at least an hour delay. At this point I'm going to start taking grey hound, the bus ride may be a little longer but I've never experienced a faulty bus and every bus comes with WiFi and outlets for charging. I wish there was a way to give them ZERO stars. This is a HORRENDOUS company. Their buses are filthy, they have roaches inside, and so poorly maintained that they break down too often for too long. They keep their passengers stranded on the road for endless hours, without information, a repair service, a replacement bus or any type of emergency plan, and if you call to know how much longer you are going to be abandoned on the road, they hang up the phone on you. Great service (a thousand times cleaner and more attentiveness than Greyhound) , with amazing price (almost half of Red Coach and just a bit more than Greyhound). Due to its nature as a transport for students, it's service is a little limited (just a couple of places and no trips every day). But I would take it for every trip I need inside Florida. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Short story: the only reason why this company is still afloat is because of naive college students. That is the majority of who uses their services. So, if you are a naive college student (like I was, I've used them at least 5 times and every single time has been a disaster) just go you greyhound, I PROMISE the buses are 1000% nicer, it's cheaper, and it will actually get you there on time. Long story: The buses are tiny tiny, no wifi, no footspace. Overpriced, AND now they charge you for every bag you put under the bus. The driver's are nice enough, I guess, but it's the management that erally falls apart. Disrespectful, unprofessional, incredibly terrible, I really can't even describe it. The way their service is set up is outdated and out of order, the price is too much, I can go through the number of injustices I've dealt with from them but really, it's not worth it. After reading many bad reviews on this bus company, I was a bit hesitant to take it, however because of how convenient it is, I decided to give it a try. It was not bad at all. On the ride down there was WiFi and we left on time. We did arrive about 10 minutes late because of some traffic, but other than that the ride was good. On the way back up, there was no WiFi, but not the biggest problem. I'm happy I gave this company a try because I will for sure be using it again in the future! read more

I should have read the reviews before allowing my son to purchase a ticket from South Florida to Gainesville. As rude as the people are at GMG Transport It is hard to believe they are still in business. My son purchased a ticket and had to change the departure date. When my son needed to modify his departure date he was told to just show up at the pick-up spot and show his ID and it would be no problem. Apparently changing the departure date requires management approval and when we met the bus driver he called the manager and we were told we had to purchase another ticket, even though there was no price difference. After speaking to the rude manager we decided there was no way we are going to give this company another dime, so we left. Avoid using GMG Transport for any travel. They don't deserve any more business. read more

GMG is a horrible bus option. The bus smells, the wifi is non existent, and there several broken things on it, including old uncomfortable seats, broken AC, & disgusting bathrooms. The bus takes much longer than they tell you. Also be careful when purchasing the ticket. I was about to be charged an extra $25 because they said there was an error when processing my information so I had to do it again. Their service team and managers were unhelpful and EXTREMELY rude, specifically Lilliam Perez, who has had problems with others before. I HIGHLY suggest not using GMG, and instead Megabus which is what I use now, it has better quality busses, better service, and much better prices than GMG. read more

Beware!!! Terrible service. The bus was over five hours late in arriving to the pick up spot. The bus did not make it to the highway because it broke down. Then we had to wait over an hour for a new bus. Then to add insult to injury I find that they had charged my credit card for much more than the amount of the actual fare plus an additional ticket also at the inflated fare price. They refused to credit my credit card for the over charges. Take another bus service or put the miles on your car. read more

Pretty great guys, I was just surprised they had such a bad rating so decided to write. I've been traveling with em 2-3 times a year for like 12 years and never had a problem. I'd estimate they transport maybe 500 people a week, and looks like roughly 2-3 people a year are upset enough to give em a bad review on Yelp, whereas the tens of thousands of happy customers obviously don't feel the need to read more

Last time my son came from Gainesville, FL, the bus broke and the passengers stay on the road for almost three hours without any explanation from the bus driver and the people responsible for the company. We called them several times, but they only have an answer machine, they NEVER answer the phone, in any situation! They even did offer any kind of courtesy discount for the inconvenience, very impolite company, with a lot of roaches inside the buses! We are giving one star but they deserve a BIG ZERO! read more

Just wow. I never write reviews but I felt compelled to this time. First off the buses are old and run down. Free WiFi? Yeah right the signal was terrible. No A.C. on the bus either which made it very uncomfortable and mucky since it had rained. But the biggest flaw to this company I have to say is Lilliam Paez. I recently got a care package sent to me and as I was leaving work my alternator belt broke and I had to get that fixed immediately and didn't make it on time to get my package. I asked Lilliam if she could please just charge me overnight for Friday since they are closed on the weekend and she unsympathetically sent me a copy of the rules and said that she doesn't make exceptions for anyone. When I finally picked up my package it had been open. I asked why it was open and she came storming out of her office yelling in my face saying that there could've been food and that she will do whatever it is she needs to do. She then said "I'm not sure if it's in the rules but we can do whatever we want to those boxes!" I was so outraged at the way she was talking to me. She slammed the door on my face when I retaliated and called me back as I was putting my box in the car to read me the rules. When I told her that she could've had the decency to let me know to expect my box open she said she didn't have to do anything that she can do whatever she wants. After arguing with her, she proceeded to bar me from ever using her business again. I don't recommend anyone using this company unless you want all of your things looked through. Beware of buying a bus ticket from GMG Transport using a credit card; I bought one for my son from pompano to Gainesville on the internet using my credit card - a couple of weeks later they charged my card an additional $25. I called to ask about this and they never got back to me with an answer. Eventually they sent an email saying that my card had been declined and that that's why they were charging me $25. First of all my card was not declined, they just said this so they could have an excuse for charging me this additional money. So if you find no other form of transportation, make sure you pay them cash and get a receipt! read more

I had an awful experience and never even boarded the bus! I thought something was fishy when I saw all over the website that IF there is a problem with your credit card, THEN we will charge you a $25 administrative fee. Sure enough, I got charged the fee--they tell me I entered the card number incorrectly but since they process it my hand, had no proof to show me. When I REFUSED payment through my credit card company they called and told me that I wouldn't be permitted to board the bus. So, I told them to refund my bus ticket. They said NO and that I am now "black listed." Fine with me! I have denied that credit card charge also and I am glad to never step foot on their bus. Be wary--it's a total SCAM! read more

I would do NO star if that was possible. Purchased ticket for my GD to ride to Tallahassee after Easter. We arrived about 35 minutes early and waited. No bus, when we called the phone number we get a young lady that could truly careless if my daughter would now need to drive to Tallahassee from Ocala on a Sunday night. She had no answer as to why the bus didn't stop. I requested my $$ be refunded immediately. I have called today and no one answers. I will continue to try to contact this company to get my refund. read more

I have used this bus service several times and I can assure you that the management of this company is completely inept and horrible at satisfying customers. They have a policy that includes charging you $25 if you happen to make a typo while filling out your credit card information. What ever stone age system they are using qualifies this as a declined card and will automatically charge you without any alternative. Additionally there is NO wifi on these buses, good luck actually connecting to the internet. Overall the bus drivers are very friendly but the people who answer the phones are not only inept they are extremely rude. This company is a piece of shit. Let's just say that the only reason I use this service is because it's the cheapest one out of all the other bus transportation services. And even then they charge you for everything. If you input your information wrong, you get charged $25 extra. If it's a holiday weekend it's 10 dollars extra. It's always something. They want to rob your money because they think that because we are university students we're ignorant, young children. Now, after this story, you won't ever want to use GMG again. So basically, my friend imputed the wrong credit card information. She called the emergency number to see if she'd get charged the extra 25. They didn't answer but then the owner called back. My friend answered the phone nicely, telling her she'd gotten an email saying she had imputed the wrong credit card information and whether she'd get charged or not. The lady was unnecessarily rude. First of all, my friend asked her how she would be getting charged to her credit card if she had imputed the wrong information.... So they didn't have her correct number.. The lady tells her that it was an "internal matter" and she could not tell her.. Excuse me? My friend was very angry, and responded by telling her that it was her credit card and she demanded to know how she would be getting charged. The lady refused once again. She also had managed to tell her that she had been wasting her time talking to my friend. Let me remind you again, this was the owner of this company. My friends dad got the phone after and got into an argument, and basically, he never managed to find out how they would get charged. The website is extremely sketchy. You never receive a receipt so you don't know how much you payed, and let's not forget the fact that when u submit your information, they don't tell you the cost of the trip... What kind of place doesn't tell you how much you're paying?.. Also, there was once a time where I forgot to input my destination after I had already imputed all my information. Rather than notifying me that I was missing this part of the submission, it went on to tell me "thank you" as if it were complete. They sent me an email two hours later stating that I had missed that part... Doesn't a normal website tell you "missing fields?" This service is extremely shady and sketchy. As I write this review, I'm patiently waiting for my 4:30 bus to arrive. It's 4:50pm and considering I arrived 30 min before like suggested, they don't comply. I was late by 1 minute one time! When I was entering the parking lot, the bus was leaving. They did not wait even though we were on the phone and all.
