THIS STORE IS AWESOME :) Everyone is super welcoming and helpful the moment you walk in, and I'm super grateful they always give me advice when it comes to choosing between the whole bunch of options on the shelf. I just got great customer service at this GNC. I went in to buy some Wheybolic whey protein supplement, and I did see that it was buy one, get one half off, but I have so little storage at home that I was just going to buy one. Christine at the register asked me if I wanted to buy anything else, because there were actually a lot of things you could get half off of as part of the promotion. She recommended a collagen supplement to me that I decided to get. Plus, she noticed from my ember record that I usually got a different chocolate flavor of the Wheybolic than I was getting, and offered to get the other kind for me. I appreciated that because I do like the flavor I am used to! I do find that the GNC employees seem well informed in general, but Christine really went out of her way for me! The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Went in for one item and the gentleman helping me recommended some other products but I said no thank you and we moved on to the register. Then the manager came over and started telling me I need this and that to which I said no. He refused that as an answer and kept pushing. I said no again and I am already taking it to which he didn't listen to a word I said then just kept on with his pitch. I had $124 rang up and he was so bad with pushing other products after I had already repeatedly said no I walked out with out buying anything. I will never go back there and if that's how GNC trains their staff to be I'll never return to another one. read more

Great selection of protein powders, preworkouts, vitamins, & snacks.. Staff is very helpful as well! I saw a few reviews about associates being pushy with product but just keep in mind that sales is their job.. I didn't find anyone pushy but everyone was happy to give me information about the product.. The store is clean and well-organized! read more

There is a certain expectation of behavior one has when enacting a purchase or a return with a reputable business. This behavior is called professionalism. When it is seen and felt a customer is welcomed, asked how they can be assisted and thus the process or purchase or return begins. This was not my experience at the following location 545 Boylston Street Boston Ma 02116. The situation was absent of pleasantries and littered with disrespect and insult. Please allow me to explain. At 11 o'clock am or around 11 zero four. I entered the GNC and approached the young woman behind the counter standing in front of the cash register. With manners I hello Mrs. I would like your help on a return. I held the item in my right and handed it to her. This is important because later handing items to the hands of others seems to be an issue for this consultant. As I am standing in front of her she places the item on the counter and begins to examine it. She ask and makes the comment has this been opened. Then before I can reply she begins to feel the box and states, of course not while touching the plastic on the item. It was a seven day cleanse program. The thin plastic on the container is felt as soon as you take hold of it. She then takes the receipt I willingly hand to her and begins to examine that. She then ask, if I have the card used to conduct the purchase. I answered yes. On the receipt it shows the entire purchase I made that day. The purchase number was eighty three dollars and some change. I mention this because of the following. As the young woman begins to enact the return. I asked her is there a reason why I cannot receive the turn in cash. She answers back, the return has to be given in the same legal tender that used in purchase. I listened to her and then made no other statements to or against her response and the fact is and there wasn't enough time. She replied to me and the called he manage over; this is the part where the first insult begins. She said to her manager beyond the simple fact that a return has to be given in same the tender used in the purchase is there any other reason why we can't do cash returns. He said no. I said to them both I understood her reply the first time she gave it then said I don't know why she got you involved. She then thanks her manager. So, I aske why was she thanking Nick, her manager he didn't do anything. She answered Nick, helps me with a lot of things. I said Nick didn't help here. I heard what you said the first time you said it so I don't know why you got Nick involved. Nick is now looking at me and I am looking at Nick. I suspect being a White woman with a slight build, and Nick being not much taller but a man he was going to give support and aid from the troublesome big Black man/consumer asking for his eleven dollar and ninety-four recent return. Nick then tells Sandrine to finish the transaction and then walk over to help another customer making a purchase. I then ask for the receipt. Sandrine replies it's coming. I ask her to place the receipt in my hand. She answers no I'm going put it on the table where you can sign it. So, she does then pushes the receipt toward me and begins looking for a pen. I asked are you looking for a pen. She answered yes. I took my satchel that I had resting on the counter beside me down and that's when I saw the pen. I then said how about we use the pen that's here on the counter. Please hand me the receipt in my hand. She said No! She didn't want to she doesn't like my attitude. I said I don't like your others. I am l will not sign it and pushed the receipt back to her. Sandrine and Nick then speak I have to. By this time Nick is now stepping over into our conversation. So I told Sandrine I was done speaking with her and mentioned to Nick that he has an associate who has problems handing receipts to costumers. Now here is a teachable lesson. Does Nick tell Sandrine this is not how we treat customers at store. No! Does Nick say to Sandrine you don't tell customers you don't like their attitude or step away from the counter when enacting a transaction. No! Does, Nick apologize for Sandrine's behavior? No! Instead he stands beside her and by not commenting he is cosigning her behavior and supporting it. Nick walks over takes the receipt and pushes it toward me and then lays the pen down. Sandrine then ask why you ask him to put it in your hand. I answered he didn't disrespect me. She replies I didn't disrespect you. I said to my way of thinking you did. I then lean down to sign the receipt and I hear Nick say came you hurry along. I stood up and then said Excuse me. He replied and said can you hurry. I then took my time with it and stood up. Nick handed me my copy of the receipt and I asked if he had the number to regional manager. He said no, but I can call customer service. So, I did. I asked someone in customer service if there were maybe boundary issues with handing customers a receipt in their hands. The answe read more

It's tough to be objective, and favorable, to a GNC when we stopped in it to purchase an item we had previously purchased at another GNC a couple of towns away. We got a runaround from the employee (possibly the manager) regarding not carrying that item and offering instead not 1 but 3 different and higher-priced items which were guaranteed to be superior. Inconsistency? Discrepency? Who knows. The staff and inventory of the store were fine for what they had, but not for what we needed. read more

Its amazing how misinformed and under trained the staff is, especially the guy that looks like a bloated Asian tick (steroid junky) he has major steroid acne no definition and a strong puffy look from steroids. I am a former health club owner and I know what im talking about. I walk in there and he's trying to give me the knowledge but its ALL wrong so I just laugh inside. Im not a very big guy myself but im in EXCELLENT shape and workout every day but since im not a HUGE bodybuilder, he has no clue how much knowledge I have over him. So after a work out I like to chill on my protein shake on my train ride home. Except this time I didn't have protein so I went to this store with the intention of getting a quick protein to go shake. Immediately this guy nick is trying to sell me a big container full. After I picked out what I needed he was very pushy and said he was going to make me a member (I don't like giving out my email) says it will only just take a second. Asked for my email didn't want to give it to him, said id save money blah blah blah, and I was like nah man I'm cool thanks. He proceeds to check me out and rudely hands me my receipt. Nick cannot take no for an answer is awful at reading reluctant customers. Great store. I go in every couple of weeks or so to get my Quest protein bars. There's always a good variety and a special of buy 3, get 1 free. The employees recognize me by now and you can tell they know their regular customers and are very friendly. read more

Shop around elsewhere and save your money, unless you're looking for GNC-brand sales pitches and misleading pricing. This store promoted a 40% off Halloween sale -- but the discounts were taken off of "retail" price rather than their regular non-member price. Not sure where their retail pricing is coming from, but here's an example: For a 5 lb container of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard: Optimumnutrition.com regular price $58.99 GNC retail price $99.99, non-member price $59.99, member price $57.99, "40% off" sale price $51.99 A 12% discount vs. the brand's regular pricing is nice, but don't advertise it as 40% off! Also, employees make up nutritional misinformation (I overheard one describing lecithin as an "essential fatty acid"), so be wary of their advice. read more

I have gotten many different types of things at GNC. It is pretty much your one stop shop for anything healthy that you can't get in the supermarket. I usually stop here once in awhile to see if they have anything new, especially protein drinks. read more

Do these guys work on commission?? I'm kidding, but that's what I thought when Nick waited on me. I knew exactly what I wanted, and Nick brought me over to the product. Then he immediately tried to up-sell me with an entirely different product. me. When I said, no, thank you, he kept at it. I repeated, no thank you. While I was paying he asked for my email. I refused. He asked why, and I told him I didn't want to be on yet another email list. He persisted. I cut him off and said I just wanted to pay. He was a real jerk. Took his time with my cash payment. Another customer also posted about his annoying experience with Nick. My customer experience was one star. read more
